Revenge of the Sea

North of Roanoke Island, on the network of barrier islands and small inlets that define the Outer Banks of North Carolina lies the Currituck Sound. A small patch of water that sits between the causeway and the mainland, the region has a strong connection with whaling, pirates, and fishing. Confusingly, Currituck is actually on the mainland, but we are not here to debate such oddities. Today's tale removes Jimmy from his usual locale of Manteo, and takes him to where he has been to a couple times before, on a swashbuckling adventure to... Corolla.

A small village that was not far to the north, and a fairly easy run by car, Corolla was tied to the sea. It was a small place, which seemed to consist mostly of buildings, a few relics of the sea, an old whaling lodge, and even a lighthouse. Not far away, the notorious Blackbeard had met his end, and naturally the area was dominated by pirate relics (such as Queen Anne's Revenge).

This small place was where Jimmy found himself today. He fancied a break from the usual craziness of his life, and the sea would probably be a good place for him to go. So, it was here in Corolla that he found himself, starting by sitting on a bench and looking out into the infinite ocean before him. By an infinite ocean, I am referring to the small blobs of water that make up the Currituck Sound, with a large lighthouse sitting overhead and looking into the water.

"Maybe I can catch a break," was the only observation he did make, as he looked out into the sea and saw very little, to be completely honest. At least here it was a nice, quiet place. No random objects, no artifacts, no derailing trains, exploding planes, or falling off of boats, and most certainly no Toad in the Hole in the Road-

Oh. The music didn't play. I suppose we are safe now. Anyways, I suppose I must get on with the story. Jimmy found himself musing, as he often did, as he usually found himself with very little to do. Perhaps acquiring something to eat would be a good use of his time, but then again food was something he was rarely short of. His reputation as a grand consumer preceded him, but this small town knew little of him, nor of his status as a 'transformative expert'. The stories of horses in the bayous or a princess in New York had been largely dismissed as nonsense, and the Chinese authorities had been unable to find any evidence of the alleged sightings of a legendary figure from Chinese history, dismissing it as the drunken ravings of an old man. Even the claimed Egyptian Pegasus had been dismissed as a lot of CGI and special effects (although the design of the Sphynx had been changed a few times between the broadcasts, it seemed). So it was on that bench he continued to sit, as nothing happened very much.

The place was very quiet. It was only March, after all, and most people were just restarting the fishing season, or pushing the region's heavy reliance on tourism (Hook was considering starting up a touring company of the local lighthouses, as an old friend of his, Tom Haddington, had suggested a while back). It occurred to him that the story needed to go somewhere, and as such he got up and made his way toward the seafront.

"I do ask, how can Jimmy be here? Is he not in Can-"

"Luna! No spoilers!"

"Oh. I do apologise. I shall return to the correct world as quickly as I can."

That cleans that one up. Anyhow, Jimmy went over to the side of the sea, the seaside, if you will, and approached a murky brown sand that looked like vomit had been mixed into it. As he peered closer into the sand, he spotted something made of gold. All gold.

The object in question was soon lifted out by his mighty hand, and what did he see but a necklace, not made of lace, or around anyboy's neck. It was made of gold, and had attached to the end of the chain but a symbol. A symbol of golden box with a circular round, and multiple latices running down it from top to bottom. It looked like a harp or a lyre, and it was this object that seemed oddly familiar.

For some inexplicable reason, rather than handing it into lost property, he put it into a pocket and walked away. After all, it wasn't theft if he'd found it, right? As he walked away a familiar buzzing started up, as blue light roared into the sky and turned the grey sky blue.

He soon became aware of the error of his mistake when his movement in his legs was suddenly constrained so, rendering walking very difficult indeed. He took after Link and decided to roll behind a building instead, seeing what was the cause of his problems. He identified that one quickly. His shorts, normally a marvellous beige color, were now a shade of BLUE and seemed to be made of multiple layers of frills (no frills attached, eh?), which naturally inhibited his movement. They were also absurdly short, which thankfully covered that stuff. Anyways, he soon gained a pair of much longer yellow socks, which ran to the tops of his thighs, and on top of that his shoes had been replaced with a pair of dark magenta boots which stopped just below where the socks stopped.

Further observing this strange phenomenon which punctuated his very strange life, he suddenly observed his shirt come to life as it usually did, with the sleeves shrinking back into the shirt and soon becoming the nothingness. When remained of the shirt soon stretched over the shorts thing, and gained two pockets spaced apart in such a way as to constitute the shortest distance. The bottom part turned a darker pink than the rest, which became a lighter pink. The necklace, which he pocketed earlier, reappeared around his neck to complete the clothing change.

There was not a soul to witness this, as Corolla was, as I said before, very quiet indeed. Jimmy's hair was soon reduced to looking like toothpaste, with a light green bit and a white bit, making him look like that guy from the Colgate ad. His eyes were swapped for orange ones, complemented with turquoise skin upon his body (rather than in a heap on the floor. Walking skeleJimmy? What is this, a fantasy film?) which looked familiar. His shoulders moved to be closer together, and his arms and hands became smaller and shorter respectively, followed by a pair of breasts on his chest. A dark pink flower with an yellow inset appeared in his hair of which it expanded to become a headband, just as his hips expanded outward, followed by two other bits going. Her glasses also fell off of her into the sound. Not that she needed them anyways as she could quite clearly without them thanks to her improved eyesight along with her face already taken on Lyra's appearance. Almost done, her legs and feet got shorter and smaller, and the clothings were reduced in size.

Lyra soon jumped to her feet, apparently having not noticed the events of the last few minutes! "South I must go!" she exclaimed, and jumped into a boat that had conveniently appeared. Hoisting the Jolly Rodger, she sailed to the south.

Nobody was there to tell her she was going to hit a sandbank.
