Love is Amazing....ly terrifying!!!by Rainbowfan45ChaptersThree Little WordsHeart to HeartThe Waiting GameSweet SecretThree Little WordsAuthor's Note Heya! I'm back with another romance! This one is not Mane Six based though XD Hope you enjoy it, and don't hesitate to tell me if you spot any grammar or punctuation errors. (When you are your own editor, mistakes get missed alot! ) Just a note: Fireblaze is my OC, and Summer Breeze is a pony made up off the top of my head. Three Little Words "Ooh...so she likes flowers! Writing that down!" I was hiding well out of sight on a cloud that would have been deemed suspiciously placed had anypony bothered to look up. I was also peeking over the edge with binoculars in one hoof and a pen in the other, watching a certain pony below. A pegasus, like me, with a yellow coat. Only difference between us was she had a blazing orange mane and tail. Summer Breeze and I spent alot of time together, laughing and talking, and when we weren't together I was busy spy...er...conducting research, on her. I mentally slapped myself. Right, because calling it "conducting research" rather than "spying" was making this perfectly ok. The two of us had been friends for a long time and were very close. Though I had, for quite awhile, had feelings for this sweet and loving mare. I just was too scared to say so. So instead, I had resorted to following her around. Yes, it was probably really weird, and yes, I'd probably get slapped if she caught me, but hey, it would be worth it. Really all I wanted was to spend more time with her....well, and tell her I loved her, but facing a dragon seemed easier than that. "BOO!" "Gah!!!" I stumbled back at the voice, falling right off the cloud i was hiding on. Righting myself, I flew back up and landed on it once more, a faint blush on my face. "Rainbow Dash! Don't scare me like that!" The indignant reaction to her sudden appearance made her magenta eyes water as she burst out laughing hysterically, flopping on her back. "Oh your face! That was so funny!" I huffed, waiting for the notorious prankster to finish laughing and compose herself. When she did, she sat up and rubbed a hoof through her rainbow mane. "So, whatcha doin' up here, Fire?" I blinked. "Uh...um...napping?" "With binoculars and a notebook?" She snorted. "Who you spying on?" She flipped the page on the notebook before i could stop her. "Whoa....Summer...? Wha...you're spying on Summer Breeze? Where she goes, what she likes....whoa." "Give me that!" I snatched the book back, impossibly red. Her eyes laughed merrily as they met my blue ones. "Why are you spying on Summer? Don't you guys like, hang out all the time?" "Well yes but....i mean...I'm not spying!" I struggled to gain some control of this situation before it turned into an uncomfortable chat. "Aw cut it, Fireblaze." She smirked. "I may not be the Element of Honesty but even I know a lie when I hear it." "I'm...I'm..." My brain scrambled frantically for a plausible answer. "I'm conducting research!" 'Oh, wonderful reponse, Fireblaze!! She'll definitely buy that!' "Nah." The mare leaned back on the cloud, grinning that insufferably cocky trademark grin. "That's not it either." I sighed. I was screwed if this got out to certain ponies but...Rainbow was Loyalty after all so maybe she would keep it quiet. "If I tell you, will you swear not to tell anypony? Especially not Summer Breeze!!" Rainbow's ears perked and she lazily waved a hoof. "Pinkie promise." I groaned. "Ok. Uh....fact is I um...uh...well, I like her. I mean, I really, really like her..." i felt my face grow hot and knew I was really red. She stared at me for a long moment and then she snickered. "You're in love with her." I mumbled something about shoving her off the cloud if she mentioned it, and she laughed, giving me a tap on the head with her hoof. "Don't worry, I'm not gonna tell anypony. But why not just go tell her?" I stared at her in shock and shook my head furiously, causing some of my gold and red- orange mane to cover my eyes. "No! I can't!" "Why not? I may be not be all into the lovey mushy nonsense myself...." she made a face at that thought "....but seems to me if you love her, you oughtta tell her." "But...but what if she doesn't love me back? What if this goes horribly wrong and she never talks to me again?? What if....GAH!!" The last as Rainbow shoved me off the cloud with a roll of her eyes. I caught myself and flew back up, glaring at her. She shook her head. "Look Fire, i'm no expert in this, but if you two are as good of friends as you seem to be, you got nothing to worry over! Tell her. Beats hiding up in clouds spying on her." "No...that...no." I shook my head hard again. "There's too much that could go wrong! Everything could be ruined between us! Or super awkward. There's just no way I could-" This time she didn't just shove me off the cloud; she grabbed me and threw me off. I let out an undignified yelp and did a twist, straightening out and then coming back to land once more on the cloud next to her. "Will you stop doing that?!" "You worry too much, like Egghead does." she retorted, rolling her eyes in minor annoyance. "Look, just tell her. What's the worst she can do, throw you through a cloud wall?" "Not helping." I muttered sullenly. "My point is, she's not gonna leave you hanging just because of this. Best thing, she loves you back and you worried for nothin'. Worst thing, she doesn't love you back, you stay buddies, and you still worried for nothin'." I glared at the smirking mare and tried to formulate an argument, but I failed. She was, aggravatingly enough, right. "Facing a giant, firebreathing dragon would be so much easier." She snorted at that. "Not gonna suggest you try that, Fire. Been there, done that, and trust me, telling Summer you love her? Waaaay easier than facing a dragon." Well there went that chance of escape. Not that I was really searching for an escape. If I was going to be totally honest, I really just wanted somepony to talk me into doing it. Give me the extra boost of confidence I needed to take that step. "How about busting clouds?" I asked lamely, and was unsuprised by the shove off of the cloud. I righted myself, but stayed hovering in the air this time as Rainbow lifted off the cloud and looked at me. "Mare up, Fire! Tell her!" And with that she flew off, leaving me alone. Tell her, huh? Right, because walking straight up and saying "I love you" was soooo easy. I groaned. "FIREBLAZE!" The voice below made me shoot further up into the sky, then I looked down and spotted her looking up at me, one wing shielding her eyes from the sun. Sighing, I flew down to her, hoping I could just keep my feelings secret. I glided in easily alongside her for a smooth landing, my hooves making a quiet thump in the dirt, and my wings immediately folding into place. I kept my gaze down for a second, brushing imaginary dirt off one foreleg. "Hey Summer!" "Fireblaze, just the pony I wanted to see!" She sounded so happy. "I wonder if you could help me with something?" I lifted my head. "Sure! Anything y-" My words died and my brain refused to function as my gaze met those beautiful blue eyes staring back at me. She was smiling widely and at that moment all I wanted was to lean in and kiss her. My heart swelled even more with deep love for her. "Fire, are you ok?" She was watching me with concern...mixed with confusion. Without even giving myself a chance to think or hesitate, I simply blurted out three words. "I love you!" And then my face decided to imitate a stove as heat flooded it and crept slowly up to my ears. I was blushing horribly, I just knew it. She was staring at me, mouth agape. "I...I...I mean I...I'm..." I struggled to finish my sentence and failed, my brain in a panic and unable to pull anything intelligible from its vast stores of words. So I stood there, mouth opening and closing wordlessly for a moment, then I took to the sky and flew off as fast as my wings would carry me, leaving her staring after me in open-mouthed astonishment. Heart to HeartI had no idea how far I flew, but i knew I was exhausted by the time I doubled back and made my way to Cloudsdale. I didn't go right home; no, if Summer came to find me she'd go there first and I really didn't want to face her again anytime soon. Instead, I snuck around cloud homes til I came to one I knew I could hide in. Rainbow nearly fell off her couch when I burst through the cloud wall rather than going through the door. "Fire! What the hay are you...!" Her words died on her lips as she took a good look at me. "Oh. Uhhhh you look a little...." "I probably look horrified!" I burst out, throwing myself on the chair opposite her. "I've probably ruined everything now!" Her eyes went wide as my meaning sank in. "Wait wait wait...you told her?? You actually did it?? Haha, I knew you had it in you, Fire!" Her smug "I knew it" grin faded slightly as she saw my sour expression. "Whoa. You look like you hate this." "All I got out was I love you, and then I panicked!" I said in irritation. "I took off as fast as I could and just....I...uggghhh!!" I flopped sideways in the chair and let out what was likely the longest groan in the history of groans. Rainbow stared at me for a long time and then snorted. "Chin up, I'm sure its all good, Fireblaze. You guys are super close, she's not gonna bail on you over this." "But what if she doesn't like this at all? What if she gets weirded out by the fact I love her?? What if she doesn't talk to me again?!" I was now hyperventilating at all the possible "what if" scenarios. "Sweet Celestia, Fire, get a grip on yourself!" She said, rolling her eyes as she shoved a paper bag over my muzzle. "Breathe." I did as instructed and my breathing slowed to normal as my panic subsided somewhat. "But what if..." "Enough." Rainbow glared at me. "You might actually be worse than Twilight when it comes to freaking out. Chillax will ya? Like I said, she won't leave you hanging because of this." "But...but...what if..." I never got to finish. Rainbow, clearly at the end of her patience, dragged me off her chair and pitched me headfirst out the hole I'd made in her wall. I landed on the clouds outside with a grunt. "Go home." She shook her head. "Stop worrying and just go home. I betcha Summer comes looking for you. Don't hide from her, cuz if you do I will personally kick your flank and drag you to her kicking and screaming. You got that, Fireblaze?" I blinked as she disappeared from sight, then a muffled yell floated out to me. "And next time use the front door, not the wall!" I sighed and picked myself up, turning and heading for my own home. Summer would go there, and I wanted to go anywhere but there, but Rainbow hadn't sounded like she was joking about dragging me there. So I resigned myself to whatever awaited me, and went directly home. ===============****=============== When I stepped through the door, I immediately stiffened. Sitting on my couch, looking as beautiful as ever, was Summer Breeze. Well that was only a partial shock. I had given her permission to come on in whenever she wanted. I went and dropped onto the other end of the couch, keeping my gaze averted as I felt my face flame. After a long silence, she spoke first. "Fireblaze..." her voice was kind and gentle, somehow soothing my frazzled nerves in spite of the entire situation. "Can I ask you something? And please be honest." I gulped but nodded. "Y..yeah, sure." "When you said you love me..." She hesitated only briefly before pressing on. "When you said that, what did you mean? I think I know, but I need to be sure." I had an out here. I could just say it meant I loved her as a good friend and that I had been a little embarrassed when I just blurted it out at random. But I could just hear the disapproving voice of Applejack in my head telling me how lying wasn't the answer. So I took a deep breath, released it slowly, and refused to meet her gaze as I formulated my response. "It...I mean...I said, I love you. That...I was...it...yeah. That." 'I'm so proud of you for that answer.' I mentally snarked at myself, before risking a sideways look at her. She was gazing at me steadily, her eyes holding no sign of disdain or disgust, only interest and curiousity, as well as an understanding I wasn't expecting to see. "So...you're trying to tell me that you're in love with me." She mercifully put my thoughts into words for me. I felt myself blushing extremely hard, the heat in my face so intense I was sure I was gonna need a hose to put out the flames. It took a second to form an answer, but finally I spoke. "Y-yeah, that...that's what I'm saying." I heard her laugh softly, then felt her forelegs wrap around me in a tight hug that I did not resist. She nuzzled me tenderly and my heart nearly stopped at the contact. "Oh, Fireblaze." She chuckled again. "I already knew you had feelings for me." Her embrace was so warm and comforting, and her hoof gently running through my mane in a soothing manner made me melt completely against her. Then her words registered. "Wait...what?" I sat up straight, eyes impossibly wide. "Y-you knew?!" "I know you, you silly mare." She teased lightly, a smile on her face. "Did you honestly think you were successfully hiding anything from me?" I was at a loss for words now. So all that stress and worry...? I could have smacked myself. Rainbow was right, I worried too much. I looked back into the peaceful ocean of blue gazing back at me. "I..." I hesitated, fighting an internal battle. Did I really want to let it all out? Pour out every ounce of love I had for her? Tell her exactly what she meant to me? How in Equestria was I gonna do that? If i said one word on the subject, I knew I wouldn't just stop there. As if knowing exactly what I was thinking, Summer smiled reassuringly and gave me a pat on my head with her hoof before hugging me close once more. "Let it all out, Fire." She told me quietly. "Don't hold back, just...let it all out." Somehow, even though my insides were a whirling mass of butterflies, her voice and her embrace calmed me enough to make a decision. "I love you." I stated with far more confidence than before. And suddenly, the floodgates holding back all those feelings of love just broke down, and the words came pouring out of me without a chance of being stopped. "I have for a long time. Your smile, your laugh, the way you know what I'm thinking before I even say it, the way your eyes shine when you're happy, the way you make me laugh and smile when I don't want to, the way you go out of your way to help ponies because your heart is so kind and good and caring..." I paused to take a breath, pulling back from her hold enough to look in her eyes. She was blushing intensely, and that just made her all the more adorable. And suddenly, I no longer wanted to say how much I loved her: I wanted to show her. Gathering every bit of courage I had, I leaned close and kissed her with all the passion I could put into it. Her eyes went wide in shock, then closed as she blushed even harder, but she made no attempt to resist or stop me. I finally leaned back, and turned as red as a cherry at what I'd just done. "I...I...um...heh." I gave up talking and rubbed the back of my head with a hoof, shaking a little from nerves. She hadn't shoved me away or slapped me so I guessed I hadn't gone too far with that. Her eyes opened and met mine, those amazingly sweet lips parting in a gentle smile. She reached for me and hugged me as closely as she possibly could. Neither of us said anything for a while, then she spoke. "I care a great deal for you, Fire. More than you probably realise. You're more than a friend. You're...like family..." she was speaking slowly and with obvious hesitation. "Like a...sister...or a cousin. We're close, you and I." Oh. So that was it. I maintained a calm outward appearance even as something inside me quivered and nearly broke at the words. Like a sister or cousin...not what I expected. Ok well, this was awkward. But then my mind replayed her words and the hesitation with which they were spoken, and suddenly, I had to wonder if perhaps she felt the same way for me and just was unsure of herself. Taking a breath, I sat up straight and gave her one of my warmest smiles, and then spoke in my most sincere tone. "I understand, Summer. But I want to make one thing clear...nothing you or anyone else says or does is gonna change how I feel for you. I love you, and I am going to keep loving you no matter what. Uhhh, I am probably also gonna remind you of that frequently too." She chuckled. "I'm not going to stop you from saying how you feel, Fireblaze. You be yourself, and say what you want." She booped my nose, prompting a giggle from me, then hugged me once more. I sighed quietly, my head on her chest, silently hoping that in time, she would tell me she loved me back. Until then, I could be patient and wait as long as it took. She was worth it. We stayed like that until the steady, comforting rythm of her heart lulled me to sleep. When I woke up next, night had come and gone, it was early morning, and she was gone. The Waiting GameIt had been a few weeks since my talk with Summer, and since I had told her how I felt about her. We had still hung out and talked, and we seemed to have grown closer now that I had been honest with her. Still no direct declaration of love, but all the indications were there. Little things she said and did that made me question if perhaps she really did share my feelings. I found myself in her pleasant company yet again as we sat in the shade of a tree, on a hill overlooking Ponyville, a picnic basket between us. I nibbled at a daisy sandwich and glared daggers at a couple of small ants that had come to investigate our food. I satisfied them by placing a few little pieces of my bread crust in the grass, and they left us alone. "Fireblaze?" "Hmm?" "I like you alot." I nearly choked on my sandwich but managed to avoid it, and swallowed before I looked over at her. It wasn't the first time she'd said it, but something in her tone was different this time. "I like you alot too." I returned, smiling. She snickered. "No you don't. You love me." Her eyes twinkled at me. "Well, I mean, yeah. You already know that." I replied, tossing a bit of daisy from my sandwich at her and getting her right on her muzzle. "Why you!" She sputtered. She jumped at me over the picnic basket, tackling me, and I let out a yelp followed by laughter as we rolled around in the grass like a couple of foals in a schoolyard fight, each of us vying for dominance over the other. I wasn't trying all that hard, since I knew she could easily win anyway. We finally stopped rolling and I ended up flat on my back with her laying on me, pinning me under her as she grinned victoriously while I panted for breath. "Do you surrender?" She asked, just as out of breath as I was. "Do I? Hmmm..." I pretended to think, and then employed a sneaky attack by tickling her sides with my wings. "Gah!" She yelped, falling off me in a fit of adorable giggles. I took that chance and pounced, pinning her under me as I put my muzzle close to hers, grinning widely. "Do you surrender?" For a moment she just stared up at me, eyes twinkling with mischief, then she moved her head closer to me and kissed me. I was so stunned I released my grip and fell over next to her. Instantly she rolled over and flopped on top of me again, snickering in victory as I simply lay there too shocked to move. "I...that...you...so unfair." I spluttered out with some indignance. With a quiet chuckle, she stared down into my eyes for a long moment, and then she kissed me again, rendering me utterly speechless as my heart thundered loudly enough to be heard by both of us. And in the back of my head i was screaming in excitement, as well as hoping with all I had that maybe, just maybe, she was finally going to tell me she loved me too. She broke the kiss and smiled at me, her face an adorable shade of red, and then leaned close to my ear, which twitched in eager anticipation of what she would say. She leaned closer, and closer, til I could feel her breath, and then.... Nom. "Gah!" I yelped as she bit my ear, though more from surprise than anything else. It wasn't painful. "Hey!" She laughed as I shoved her off into the grass and then let out a startled eep as I snatched her up in my forelegs and flew over to the nearby pond. "Fireblaze? Fireblaze, what are you-?" I snickered as I dove down through the air, pulling up just short of the water, and let her drop. She shrieked as she hit the cold water, vanishing for a moment before popping back into view. "FIREBLAZE!" She glared up at me. I doubled up in mirth, laughing hysterically, barely keeping myself hovering in the air. And then I felt hooves grabbing me. Summer had flown up, dripping wet from the pond, and was smirking. "How do you put out a fire? With water!" "GAH!" I yelled as she flew down with me and shoved me into water. When I came back up she was laughing at me. "OH THAT DOES IT!" She eeped and tried to fly off, but I nabbed her and dragged into the pond with me, where I proceeded to splash her unmercifully with massive waves of clear blue. "Surrender!" I yelled through both our laughter. "Surrender and I release you!" "Never!" She vanished under the surface, and a second later I was yanked under by an unseen force. I came up coughing and spluttering, to find her giggling. "How dare you!" I huffed in mock rage. Lifting myself out of the water, I dove down on top of her, sending us both under. We came up spitting and sputtering, and then laughed at ourselves. We climbed up on the bank and sprawled in the sun to dry out, still laughing. I rolled on my back and sighed in contentment. After spending awhile sprawled in the warm sun, we were dry and rested up, and Summer finally sat up and stretched. "I think its time to pack up lunch. I need to head to Sugarcube Corner to pick up some baked goods from Pinkie." "Oh, ok." I nodded, not really wanting to part ways. "And I....need to go practice some flight stuff." That sounded lame. She chuckled and helped pack up before heading off to do her thing, and I watched until she was out of sight before I picked up the basket and flew towards Cloudsdale, my mind still reeling with all the afternoon's events. =============*******============== I had barely arrived home when a prismatic blur blazed past me and crashed into my sofa, knocking me over in the process. "What the...RAINBOW!" I picked myself up and rolled my eyes. "So good of you to just...fly in." "Soooo how'd it go?" She asked, ignoring my comment. "How did she like the surprise picnic?" "She liked it." I replied, flopping on the partially destroyed couch. "I mean, we had fun and alot of laughs." Rainbow might claim to not be one for "mushy" stuff, but she was interested in how Summer and I got on, so she flopped into the chair opposite me. "Spill!" I huffed, but filled her on all our fun, including how Summer had kissed me. That made her sit up straighter. "You absolute ninny." She said in amusement, and threw a pillow at me. "What did I do??" I demanded. "You say you don't know how she feels about you, but actually you really do!" "Wha..?" "She kissed you, you cloud brain! Twice! And you still wonder how she feels?! Why somepony oughtta buck you into Tartarus for being so stupid!" She was smirking during this speech, which took any offense out of her choice of words. I blinked rapidly, my face heating up. She had a point. "I mean...I guess she loves me?" I managed. Rainbow glared at me. "You guess?! Fire, its as plain as the muzzle on your face, even to me, and you know how bad I am at this mushy stuff." I snorted, yet her words made sense. The way Summer looked at me, the way she would let her wing brush over me, the way she'd let her hoof play with my mane; add to that the way she'd kissed me that day... "Sweet Celestia..." I muttered, eyes wide. "She does love me!" "Well duh!" Rainbow snarked at me. "Geez, Fire. You're supposed to be smart." "Love apparently makes you stupid as well as blind." I returned, rolling my eyes. "Pffft. In that case, I am never falling in love." She snickered. It was my turn to have fun now. "Oh yeah? Hey, Rainbow, how are you liking all the time you spend with Fluttershy lately?" Her face turned several shades of red. "Wha...no...wait...its not...I mean...GAH! I'm going home!!" She couldn't leave fast enough, and I laughed heartily before sighing and collecting some small clouds to rebuild the sofa she had wrecked, all the while three words playing on repeat in my brain. 'Summer loves me!' Maybe she wasn't ready to put it into words yet, but that was ok. I'd give her all the time she needed. I could play the waiting game as ling as I had to. As long as there was hope she loved me back. I hummed a merry tune to myself. 'She loves me!' Sweet Secret"Are you serious?" I jumped nearly out of my fur and had to fight to keep my voice quiet at the unexpected voice. "Rainbow!" "Fire, you are one strange pony." Rainbow leaned against the wall next to her, her voice low. "Its the middle of the night! Why in the name of Celestia are you HERE?!" I turned impossibly red in the light of Luna's full moon, gulping as I looked through the partially curtained, half open window of Summer's bedroom. "Uhhhh....I....can explain?" Rainbow snorted loudly, only to glance worriedly through the window herself to be sure she hadn't been too loud. "Ok so? You're here why?" "I could ask you the some question!" I returned. "Meh. Couldn't sleep. Took a little flight. Now, you?" "...Uh...I mean..." I probably looked distinctly uncomfortable as I rubbed my neck. "I...I come here alot of nights actually." Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "Fireblaze, she's gonna start thinking you're stalking her." "Wha...no! I'm not! I swear!" My voice got really loud as I struggled to convince her of that. "Wh...what's going on out there?" Summer yawned, poking her head out the window. Apparently the yell had awakened her. Her eyes widened. "Fireblaze! Rainbow! What...?!" I paled, then turned red, and then stammered out, "S..Summer! H-hi! Uhm....I...I...uh...this...I can explain this..." "Tell me later." Rainbow backed up. "Night you two!" And she was gone. Summer looked at me, eyebrow raising expectantly. "Well?" Oh dear. I took a very deep breath...then eeped and made an attempt to fly off. Unfortunately for me, Summer threw the window up all the way and shot out of it, tackling me. "Gahhh! Noooo! Let me go!" I struggled but not very much. "No you don't, missy." Summer picked me up and tossed me easily into the house through the window, then followed. "I want to know why you're outside my bedroom window in the middle of the night." "Its...I...n...no reason! I mean well, it is, but...." I stammered and stuttered, trying to come up with a decent response as I backed up away from her. "Fireblaze..." She gave me a look that said she didn't buy it. "Don't make me drag it out of you." "I mean..." I hesitated, and then bolted for the door like a scared rabbit, making it out into the hallway before Summer caught up and tackled me. I let out a yelp as I went down on the floor with her on top of me, easily pinning me down. "Gahhh! Oh come on, no fair! Let go!" I squirmed and fought back, though I wasn't putting alot of effort into it. "Nope." She said calmly. "Now come on, miss. Tell me everything or else I will tickle it out of you." "Wha...you wouldn't!" I sputtered. "You really want to test that?" She grinned down at me. I hesitated again, and then went limp under her with a groan, knowing she would do it. "Ok ok. Fine I'll tell you." She let me up and led me to the living room, where we sat on the couch. I rubbed my muzzle with a hoof nervously as she adjusted so she was looking right at me, giving me her full attention. "Heh. Um...ok well, first of all tonight isn't really the first night I've been here that way." I admitted, feeling my face growing hot. "Wait, what?? You mean, you've done this before?!" "Mhm." I nodded slightly, gulping. "Huh. Ok so, why?" "I...this is gonna sound so weird though." I muttered. "Come on, Fireblaze. Tell me." "Gah...ok. Well, um, I come over here most nights to uh...well I mean I come stand outside your window that way and um..." I hesitated, then gulped again. "I....I may or may not tell you things while you're sleeping that I'm scared to say when you're awake." Her eyes went wide, and I eeped, grabbing for the quilt she always had on the couch and dragging it over me in an attempt to hide. "I told you it was gonna sound weird!!" I heard a soft chuckle, then felt her weight as she leaned over me, nearly laying on me, and then the quilt was pulled off of me. I looked up into her eyes as she gazed back, a slight blush on her face. "What kind of things?" She asked softly, and with curiosity in her voice. "Will you tell me now?" I blinked up at her. "B-but...I say them when you're sleeping because...i mean...otherwise you would hear it and well..." "Oh, Fireblaze, you silly mare." She booped me. "Deep down you want me to hear you. Otherwise you wouldn't say them at all. So? Here I am, wide awake, and you don't have to be scared to tell me." I sighed. "Dang it. H-how do you know these things?" "Because I know you." I took a breath. "Ok. Fine. I come over here and I look in through your window and watch you sleep for a minute because, I mean, you're cute. And then I will uh...I will tell you I love you, and um, that you're amazing, and then I tell you everything that I love about you." "Mhmm. Like what?" She was blushing a bit harder now. "Uh...well...your smile. The way you laugh. The way your eyes sparkle when you're happy." I took a breath, steadily gaining confidence the more I spoke. "And I love how you can just look at me and I melt. And how you say my name with that sweet voice of yours, and my heart just goes crazy. I love how you blush when I compliment you, and the way you try denying how cute you are when I tell you that you are." I paused, and grinned as she looked at me with her blush deepening as I told her these things. She looked so adorable and in that moment I wanted to do something else. Something to try and express what all the words at my command could not. I leaned my head up and kissed her, causing her to eep adorably in surprise, though she didn't pull away. She seemed content to just let me kiss her, even leaning on me further and returning it. When I finally stopped and gently pulled loose from her lips, she whined quietly in what could only be described as disappointment. I chuckled and playfully booped her. "Cute." "What? No I'm not!" Summer turned an even deeper shade of red. "Oh yes you are. Don't even try denying it." I said firmly. "You are cute and that's final." "Ok fine." She hid her head against my chest. I giggled and pushed her up before sitting up straight as well, and she smiled at me as she fidgeted with part of the quilt. "So...anything else that you say?" She asked. "Uh...i mean...no. But..." My face was so hot and I knew I was really red. Should I even finish that sentence? "What? What is it? Come on, Fireblaze, don't be scared. Tell me." "But...but you'll think I'm really weird." I mumbled. "You aren't weird. Now what is it?" She watched me intently. "I mean I...well...I may have um...I might have actually uh climbed in your window a couple times and umm...kissed you, and well, yeah." I shut my eyes and waited for her reaction. A second later, I was being hugged tightly. "You're not weird. And how did you not wake me up?" She sounded amazed by that. "I guess because you sleep soundly?" I offered lamely. She giggled and nuzzled me. "You aren't scared to kiss me when I'm awake though. So why do it while I'm asleep?" "I mean...I kissed you those times because uh, well, it was right after I said I love you both times and it just felt right. I know, I'm weird, crawling in your room in the middle of the night just for that. I mean..." "You're not weird. Stop saying that." She bopped me lightly on the head with her hoof. "Now, I am going to say one thing." I braced myself, wondering if she was going to tell me she was gonna lock her house up tight so I couldn't get in. Although after tonight I doubted I would be doing that again. "Fireblaze, I don't want you to be scared to tell me how you feel. So when you think things or you want to say something to me about your feelings, then please, tell me. Don't shut me out because you're scared. I promise I'm not going to go anywhere." I sighed and nodded. "Ok. I'll do that." "Good." She hugged me and then blushed. "Um...we both need sleep and since you're here you may as well stay. Do...do you want to sleep with me? Or uh on the couch?" I didn't even answer. I just grabbed her and pulled her onto me and covered us both with the quilt as I snuggled her. She eeped but made no attempt to move, instead nuzzling her head against my chest. "Goodnight, Fireblaze." She murmured before drifting off to sleep. "Night, Summer." I responded quietly. I laid there still and silent, listening to her soft breathing and feeling the steady beat of her heart against my chest, both soon lulling me into a peaceful sleep.
Three Little WordsAuthor's Note Heya!
'She loves me!'
Sweet Secret"Are you serious?" I jumped nearly out of my fur and had to fight to keep my voice quiet at the unexpected voice.
