//-------------------------------------------------------// Ignored -by niightear- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Note //-------------------------------------------------------// Note He stood next to Scootaloo, their wings touching, both lightly blushing. I was happy for her... right? Happy... Happy... No... It felt like she was ignoring me. Barely anypony talked to me these days. Apple Bloom would occasionally, maybe my sister, but overall they all ignored me. But he seemed to rub it in my face that he was Scootaloo's coltfriend. Whenever he talked to me, it was about Scootaloo. "You won't believe the amazing date Scoots took me on!" "Hey, what's Scoots' favorite flower?" "Her birthday's December 8th, right?" Scoots, Scoots, her, Scootaloo, whatever it was, I knew who he meant. He talked about her every damn Celestia forsaken day. At school, I heard him talk to his friends about her. Whenever he'd pass by me, he'd be talking about Scootaloo or walking with her or anything. It was breaking me to the fuckin' core. And then I'd had enough. Not long before her birthday, I cracked. Looking at the scissors, I hovered them over and cut. I winced and bit my lip to hide the pain. Smile... Be happy... Hide the pain... Nopony noticed. Or maybe they did and didn't care. Worried that my sister or somepony who cared would see, I started cutting in more obscure spots. Closer to my hooves, areas where ponies would just think it was a scar they never saw... Eventually, everypony drifted away even more. I was ignored by everypony. The teacher would ask a question and I'd be ignored even though my hoof rocketed up immediately. That colt stopped asking me to play games at his place. My sister would simply say a "hello" and a "goodnight" to me and that was it. Even Princess Luna stopped visiting me in my dreams. The damn Princess of Dreams ignored me. I felt like I was cursed, but I knew I wasn't. I was insignificant. It was clear. It got worse. I'd barely eat, only eating when I was at somepony else's house or a fancy meeting. I cut more. I got a rope and stuffed it in my saddlebag, running home immediately after and hiding it in my closet. Nopony noticed. Of course nopony noticed. I was ignored. It took me until writing this to realize that I was just being an attention whore horse... I of course had no idea how to use it, so one day out of the blue I asked Apple Bloom. "Do you know how to tie a lasso?" "Of course ah do!" Later that day I went to Sweet Apple Acres and she and her sister taught me how to tie a lasso. It seemed the perfect time. "Random question and I swear it has no darker implications - could this be used to, er... h-a-n-g yourself?" The two farmponies nodded, before the older nodded solemnly. It was perfect. I write this a few days in advance so it can be sent to everypony I want to read it in time. Now... My sister, Rarity, even if I don't show it always, I care about you. Take care of Opal for me, okay? Button Mash, you were a great friend, and one of my best friends. Game on, for me. Apple Bloom, I'm sorry I didn't get to know you better. Rumble... take care of Scoots for me... Scootaloo... I love you. Goodbye... //-------------------------------------------------------// Sad End //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note Note that this version of the ending starts where the chapter Goodbye... starts and is basically that chapter and after except a certain unicorn... Leaves this planet... Sad End She galloped to the boutique, slamming the door open. "RARITY!" The unicorn turned, sobbing. Her eye shadow was running, and the tears ran down her face. "Is she..." She nodded, and the pegasus let out a scream of anguish. The unicorn got a hold around her, sighing. "I'm sad too, darling... I understand what it must be like, having somepony you love die..." The pegasus looked up at her, confused. "I had a friend in school... her name was Rainbow Solstice... I didn't know, but she liked me... and then me and Applejack started dating a little bit into middle school, and, well, she..." The pegasus nodded. "We should prepare the funeral..." It was silent. It was dark. Light would occasionally filter through, or sounds would be heard, muffled and echoey. She assumed that somepony had simply buried her, not caring to tell anypony. Dark. Silence. Light. Murmurs and echos. "Sweetie Belle was a great friend to all." She recognized that voice as Cheerilee's. "She shall be missed - she was loved by so many, and was so young..." Dark. Silence. Light. Murmurs and echos. "As her big sister, I really should've noticed that something wasn't right..." Rarity. "And now, just because of my own work, my darling little sister is gone forever..." Dark. Silence. Light. Murmurs and echos. "I really should've paid attention to her..." Scootaloo was at her funeral? "I should've known something was wrong, I should've..." She choked back a sob. "I should've..." She paused before speaking again. "I should've realized sooner that I loved her." "I'll miss her..." It was cold. It had been like this for a long time, where she'd see black and hear silence. Ponies would occasionally come to the yard, but pass by. Until one day... "Where're we going Mommy?" If she had been alive or a specter, her ears would've twitched in curiosity. "To visit somepony who was dear to me..." Was that Scootaloo? "Thunder Dash, stop being so slow and hurry up!" Hoofsteps grew closer to her tombstone. "Sweetie Belle? Who's that?" "She was my best friend..." "Oh..." "Hey Sweets, I hope you don't mind that I brought Thunder Dash and Rainbow Spin." If I could see them, I'm sure they'd be beautiful. "I miss you... Rumble's a great husband, and I love him, but..." She paused. "I love you too..." "And I'm sorry for not realizing earlier..." With that, she set something down. Flowers, she presumed. "Roses... they have thorns, but are lovely too... just like you..." Goodbye... Goodbye... No... //-------------------------------------------------------// Goodbye... //-------------------------------------------------------// Goodbye... She ran as fast as she could, pushing open the door to the boutique. "Rarity!" The unicorn looked to her, tears in her eyes, her mascara running. "Is she..." "I don't know..." was all she said. Running up the stairs as fast as she could, she knocked on the door. "Sweetie?! Sweetie Belle! SWEETIE BELLE I SWEAR TO CELESTIA OPEN THIS DOOR NOW OR I'LL-" The door gently pushed open, out of nowhere. She creeped in, seeing Sweetie, about to do the irreversible deed... "DON'T!" The unicorn turned, gasping and stumbling off the stool. The rope caught her, and Scootaloo's breathe caught. She ran over, gently untying the rope. "RARITY!" Please don't leave me... Please... "I love you too..." //-------------------------------------------------------// Happy End //-------------------------------------------------------// Happy End They waited for hours. And then at last, the doctor emerged. "Miss Belle was barely salvaged..." he said. "She may have one visitor at a time. We don't want to overload her." There was a pause, before one of the two colts in the room spoke. "Scoots should go in first." The aforementioned filly simply nodded, looking to the colt. "By the way Rumble, we should-" He simply nodded, knowing what she would say. The pegasus gave him a sad, knowing smile, walking to the doctor, who nodded, handing her a key and saying, "Room 205". She simply nodded, trotting out the room, before speeding up her trot as she approached the room, unlocking the door and pushing it open. She lay on the bed. Peaceful and asleep, her chest barely rising and falling, she looked beautiful. The pegasus approached, sitting on a stool near the bed. "Hey Sweetie," she whispered, "you should wake up soon... please wake up soon... I need you... we all need you..." She paused. "Me and Apple Bloom are sorry for ignoring you..." she continued, "we were just distracted by schoolwork and our coltfriends, and..." She sighed. "I'm sorry... please wake up... I... I... I love you." Her eyes fluttered open, as she smiled at her, gently placing her hoof on hers. "Sweetie-" She smiled. "I missed you Scoots." "It's only been a few hours..." "A few days, weeks, months, maybe years." Guilt tugged at her heart. "I'm sorry..." "It's okay. I forgive you." With that, she leaned in, and connected their lips. Into a kiss. It lasted for a while, before Scootaloo pulled away. She felt a warmth she'd never felt before. "I love you." "I love you too."
