The Spell

Trixie slowly started to back away from the being looming over her. One reason was because of its blood soaked body. The other reason was because of the large weapon it seemed to be holding in its hooves....no, not hooves. 5 smaller legs extended from the end of his leg, each different sizes. they seemed to grip the large sword he was carrying. (Of course this would be a pony's best description of a hand if she ever saw one)

The creature was extremely muscular. With every detail she noticed about this...thing, Trixie became more scared and confused. Below the things torso there was a large piece of leathery cloth covering its legs. This robe smelled of rotten skin.  But it wasn't until she saw the things head when she started to truly fear it.

Covering its head (or where Trixie considered the monsters head to be) was a rusty, metal, triangular object. Its tip (facing Trixie) was longer than the back. On each side of this strange helmet was Grated Metal, probably so the thing can see. Several bolts were screwed into the object, and maybe even into this things head.

It stood there, not making any other sound than low, raspy breathing. Trixie couldn't see them, but she imagined pitch black eyes staring through the metal mask into her very soul.

"I-I am t-the Great and-" Trixie gasped for some air. "Powerful Trixie! F-Fear...me...o-or else I s-shall have t-to use m-my powers a-against you...vile d-demon!" she tripped and fell on her flank.

Then the thing started to move.

Dragging its sword behind itself with an ear piercing grind, the creature took an earth-shaking step towards the fallen mare.

And Another.

And Another.

"I said," Trixie grunted with some strange courage that want in her before. "Stay BACK!"

The unicorn focus all of her energy into her horn, then fired it at the creature. A beam of dark red light hit the creature in the chest, where it started to consume the monster.

The monster started to furiously swat the dark red mist off of itself, but the red mist was faster. With only the helm remaining, the creature let out a low, load roar as the mist consumed its entire body. The cloud that surrounded it started to shrink and shrink until there was nothing there.

"...huh? What..did I do?" Trixie looked around. The area started to turn back to normal, the darkness peeling away like old paint. After all of the evil disappeared, there sat a very confused and scared mare.

Red. That's one of the two things I could remember after that...thing...shot me with that beam of mist.

The other thing was the feeling of changing, my body morphing into something else. It stung all over, being one of the most painful things I have experienced in my life.

And then, my vision blackened. I thought I was dead, then doubted it. I knew that I couldn't die. It was one of my curses that I had to deal with, being the Judge of the Accursed and all.

And no more thoughts occurred in my mind.

I awoke after a while in pure darkness. I was on a bed, I could tell that much . It was quite comfortable, in fact. I sat up, and looked around. I was in a small room, with shelves stocked with unusual bottles and bowls, filled with flowers, spices and other strange materials.

But the second thing I noticed shocked me.

Where did my helmet go?
