Slave To Blood
Chapter 3 - The Plan
Previous Chapter“I’m glad you could come on such short notice.” Mustang said, rubbing his hands together at the mare in front of him. “I was beginning to think you had forgotten about me.”
“How can I forget you.” Rainbow Dash said grimly. She didn’t want to be sitting with the red pegasus in front of her, but she knew she couldn’t refuse to see him. Mustang was wearing a black suit made of silk, with a red tie that matched his coat. The suit matched his black mane and two white stars for his cutie mark were sown into the suits collar. “What’s this about Mustang, I’m kinda busy.”
“Well as you know I helped you out not so long ago by loaning you the bits for the gym you wanted to start in Cloudsdale remember?” He asked, leaning back and placing his feet on the desk in front of him.
“Yeah, I remember.” Rainbow replied, the grim expression still evident on her face. She wasn’t proud of the fact she had to come to an underground slave fighting boss for a loan, but she had no other choice since her early retirement from the Royal Equestrian Air Force. she was assigned as Commanding Officer to Squadron W8007, but she liked to call her team Wonderbolts.
“Well I’m in a bit of a pickle, you see, I have a fighter in my ranks that just won’t go down. No matter how many bodies I throw at him, he just walks through them. He took down three dudes at once one time!” Mustang exclaimed, holding up three fingers to further prove his point.
“He sounds awesome!” Rainbow said, genuine excitement filling her voice.
“Yes, he is.” Mustang agreed, frowning as he placed a hand on his chin. “That’s the problem, it’s hard enough to find and capture Humans nowadays, but it’s even harder when all the Humans that go up against him end up broken or dead!” Mustang said with some anger in his voice.
“And what do you want me to do about it?” Rainbow questioned, leaning back in her chair. She looked at him and noticed his smug grin as he stood up and walked over to a safe that sat in the corner of his office.
“Well what I need is someone with a certain amount of skill that is capable of taking him on.” Mustang said, pulling out a small file and handing it to Rainbow.
Rainbow opened the file and peered at its contents.
Name: Björn Frozenheart.
Age Upon Capture: 17
Location: North human tribes
Date Upon Capture: 2020 PE(Pony Era)
The north tribes are well known for having Strong capable men, with strong fighting and hunting skills. On our expedition to these tribes we were only able to capture eight young men all between the age of fifteen - eighteen for selling/fighting due to heavy resistance. Björn showed promise taking down three of my men during our escapade. He was feisty and relentless showing he had strong determination and guts. He fought using a style that is synonymous with the north tribes, but showed he also knew styles from the other tribes such as the wrestling from the eastern and grappling from the western. This makes him a strong candidate for the fighting ring if we can tame his strong will.
Rainbow looked at he sheet that was under it and saw his punishment records. “Bit of trouble during his first few weeks I’m guessing.” Rainbow stated, combing over the dates on the sheet.
“Yes, just a little.” Mustang said nodding his head. “He took a few beatings and a light lashing in his early days but after his first lost when he received a heavy lashing and was drenched with hot water and salt on the wounds, he calmed down quite a bit.”
“why doesn’t he just fight back against you?” Rainbow questioned in curiosity. “I mean, if he is that strong wouldn’t he be able to take most of your men out and escape?”
“I’m surprised myself he hasn’t tried.” Mustang responded, sitting back down in his chair. “But I think he knows that escape is pointless. If he returns home then he might bring bounty hunters to his people, and what ponies are gonna take a runaway human, now that’s just asking for trouble.”
“But what about the anti-slave ponies that have started making noise? Wouldn’t they take him in?” Rainbow asked. She noticed the brow on Mustang furrow as he thought about it.
“No, I don’t think they would, the last group of ponies to take in a slave, all had their throats slit.” Mustang stated, smiling as he recalled the news about the recent murder.
“I heard about that. Five ponies and a young boy were found murdered in their sleep.” Rainbow said. A grim expression on her face.
“Well, those skin lovers got what was coming to them.” Mustang said bluntly, rising from his seat. “Now back to the task at hand, do you know anyone who can put up a decent fight?” Rainbow was taken aback by how unaffected Mustang seemed to be by the whole situation.
“Well…” Rainbow cleared her throat, taking a moment to recover after Mustangs comment. “I have been training a Pegasus that has shown a lot of skill, I’m sure he would take it?” Rainbow suggested.
“Perfect, now the fight will be in three days. I’ll have a pony meet you out the front and he will show you to your section.” Mustang said getting back up and walking towards the door.
“Hold on a minute.” Rainbow cut in, causing Mustang to stop and look at her. “I want a ref to be there and I want rules, only then will I agree.” Mustang looked at her and placed a hand on his chin.
“I don’t run things like that Rainbow, but I will make an exception due to it being a pony stepping into the ring.” Mustang said, opening the door and bowing slightly towards her.
“Alright, three days and I’ll have my fighter ready and here.” She said, placing her hands in her jacket pockets and walking past him out the door.
THREE DAYS TILL FIGHT
Twilight paled when she had heard the news. Five ponies and an eight year old human had been found murdered in a home on the outskirts of Canterlot in a brutal fashion, and Twilight feared it was her fault.
“I am truly sorry Twilight.” Princess Luna said, getting up from her throne and wrapping a visibly shaken Twilight in a hug.
“I was afraid something like this would happen.” Queen Celestia said, leaning back on her own throne and rubbing her brow.
“But…But…Who would do something this heinous.” Twilight trembled, tears freely running down her face and onto Luna’s dark blue robe.
“I don’t know.” Luna said cupping Twilights face and rubbing away her tears with her thumbs. “But I promise you, me and my sister will catch them!” Twilight sniffled and nodded her head.
“I know.” Twilight looked into Lunas eyes and. Such passion and grit in those dark teal eyes, she needed to be strong, she needed to keep hope and she needed have faith in her mentors.
Celestia knew that Twilight would feel the full effect of this accident and had to make sure that she would not lose herself in grief and blame. She looked at her young heir and sighed, Twilight was such a kind and brave soul and she knew she did the right thing by standing up for the boy and ponies, but Celestias worst fear had come true that morning when Shining Armour had briefed her of the horrific scene. Celestia stood up and walked over to Twilight.
“Twilight dear, I received a letter from Rainbow Dash asking if she may stay at the castle for three days while she attends some business in town. I thought maybe you and her could catch up while me and Luna figure this out?” Celestia suggested, hoping that meeting up with an old friend would distract her from her thoughts.
“She is!” Twilight said, her eyes lighting up at the thought of seeing her friend again. “I haven’t seen her since she left the REAF.”
“she said she would be coming to castle soon so she should be here shortly.” As Celestia said that, the doors to the throne room opened to reveal Rainbow Dash in a puffy jacket and camo jeans. Rainbow looked at the Mare wearing a long purple dress with stars sown in silver thread around the hem and smiled.
“Rainbow!” Twilight ran up and embraced her in a big hug. “Its soooooo good to see you!”
“It’s great to see you too Twi!” Rainbow laughed, hugging her friend back. After the hug had ended Rainbow turned and bowed to the royal sisters.
“My Queen, Princess.”
“Hello Rainbow.” Celestia said, bowing back to Rainbow. “I take it your business has been running smooth.”
“Yeah, the gym has been good, just gotta deal with some small things here then it will be right as rain.” Rainbow said with a smile, giving the Queen a thumbs up. Celestia nodded and turned to Twilight.
“Twilight why don’t you help Rainbow get settled and we shall discuss this later.”
Twilight smiled and nodded to Celestia and turned to Rainbow.
“Come on, we can talk while we walk to the tower room.” Twilight said, moving to stand besides Rainbow.
Rainbow smiled and turned with Twilight. “Sounds like a plan.”
MEANWHILE
The black stallion knocked on the oak door with Björn by his side in chains. He looked at the man next to him and wondered why the Boss would want to talk to a filthy human. Then again, this human was the best slave fighter he had seen since this place started and brought a lot of ponies to watch and gamble on his fights.
“Fights?” He thought. “More like organised slaughter.”
Blackjack thought about the time when he took on three slaves at once and even then, only coming out with cuts and bruises. It was a true sight to behold but Mustang never had another bout like that again out of fear that Björn would end up costing him more slaves then he could spare.
“Come in!” A voice shouted from behind the door. Blackjack opened the door and led Björn in by the chain around his neck, hands and feet.
The office was about ten by ten meters squared and was covered with ornaments and different decorations taken from human tribes during his expeditions. A large bookshelf covered one side of the wall and a long line of shelves covered the other displaying his trophies on it. His back wall though was a large glass pane that overlooked the dirt ring where the fights took place. Mustang looked up from his desk and smiled.
“Ahh Blackjack, Björn come in take a seat.” Mustang swung his arm to the two chairs to emphasize his request.
Mustang took in the slave in all his grubby glory. He wore tattered rags as a shirt and shorts and his hair and beard where long and unkempt, and he was covered in grime. “What's this about boss? Blackjack said, pushing the human into the chair and taking a seat himself.
“I'm glad you asked, so in three days Björn will fight a pegasus fighter that I'm having brought in from Cloudsdale”. Mustang explained. “And so, I need you to make sure Björn is ready for this battle and will follow the rules I set in place.”
He looked at the chained human in front of him. “Is that clear?!”
“Yes boss!" The pony said, quickly bringing a hand to his head in an informal salute.
“Good now take him back so I don’t have to look at him anymore.” Mustang waved his hand to shoo them both out.
Blackjack stood up and pulled on the chains that held his prisoner. “Come on no fur, back to the petting zoo.”
Björn stood and looked into Mustangs eyes. What Mustang saw, gave him chills. Nothing, no emotion, no hatred, rage, sadness, or grief, nothing but the cold empty stare.
The human left his office and Mustang sat in his chair, quietly thinking about what might just happen to the pegasus about to face his reaper.
