As long as I recall, I never had my own name. Always taking another's or my own nickname but I never had a real one. Well, technically I have one, given to me when I was born but I don't remember it and I do not know anypony who knows it.

I grew as princess twilight's pupil, following her steps without knowing it. As she had, I had a great affinity with magic. I, apparently, even surpassed her if you had compared what she was capable of when she had my age, but even after learning a lot I never did get my cutie mark.
The princess always said that it wasn't a problem and I didn't paid much attention to it myself but it was strange, I studied it and never come out with a reason. The princess said one day that some old friends of her knew how to find what you’re meant to be and that sometimes, it just take more time to find out. I believed it, but even after getting in my 20's I didn't found what I was meant to be.

At that time, I had started my own research department in Canterlot with the help of the princess, a department specialised on the creation of new spells and contributing to the understanding of magic. Over the years we made a lot of discoveries. As new magic and use of magic were discovered it became more influential and became a society of research with me as head-scientist. Later as it grew bigger and bigger with time, we started to create specialised wings to help the organisation and help the research. The wings grew in departments and made the little research project I started the first and biggest innovation centre of the world.

Each department has their own use, first come the Industrial department, focused on the creation and optimisation of production and transport technology. The Robotic department has the objective of creating artificial intelligence, robotic artificial limbs and magical powered circuits, its where the first artificial wings were created and later the magic-powered wings. The Magical department which the goal is to make more efficient magic generator and stockage to use in magic-powered object. because of the name lot of ponies think that it is full of magic but they only work on magic stone and some spells.

The last department is the main one, the only one to have wings. It is called the Arcan department and is specialized in the use and creation of magic, the wings being specialized in its own domain of magic: an archive one at first, to keep track of all the spells known and made; one that do not really work on laboratories or anything like that since it is focused on the recovery of ancient and forgotten spells; another on the creation and optimization of spells, this one doesn’t create new spells like the greatest magician of our history did, no, we only take different spells we know a make a new one that do the work of those we use to make it, then we simplify it to be used by everypony. Its use is only to make things easier for those who use magic in their work and need a lot of spells.

At last there is a wing that I made, it isn’t hidden but we don’t show it either, if you search for it you’ll find it but if you don’t you will just don’t notice it. I created it after a demand of Luna and Princess Twilight. In it we work on the use of prohibited spells and banished magic, not in a military way like you could think at first, no, our goal is to make use of them in a way so we can find useful spells from them without their use being dangerous in any way.

at first, I didn’t want to, I've always been taught that some magics are banished for good reasons and It took me years to accept. Only because I accepted the fact that any magic in good hooves, even the evil one, could serve good purpose. Since then only trust-worthy one had made their way in to work with me.

we had our own archive but that one wasn’t in the research centre, instead, it was in Canterlot, where the princess assured me that the research will be kept safe. We made a lot of experiments to understand the works of the prohibited magic we were working on. Some of them were dangerous and I even remembered working on an enchanted amulet, that corrupted the bearer but increased his magic. It has taken time but we made a way to understand what work has been made on it but all those who worked on it have agreed to never use what we discovered.

From time to time ponies came to ask me if it isn’t too much work to organize everything, but like my teacher taught me, something big is no harder to lead than something small, all you need is organisation. And it’s what I did, the three departments work together, using what they discovered to help the others to upgrade what they already made, I even made things the way that if there is any problem in one the other two aren’t affected. For the main one, it only helps on the spells made at the start of the magical-powered engineering, optimisation or changes. The department having their own scientist working on it so it’s more like if the main was an archiving department more than a research one.

Around my 60’s I started to look around me. for pretty much all my life, I focused on my studies at first, then my research and finally on my research centre. We made a lot of discoveries and innovations, me and my crew, but one thing my mentor always said I needed was friends. I never really cared and the the princess didn’t really make it an obligation, plus she looked happy to see that I've found people with who I could share my passion but now that I started to look around, I could see why: while I was focused on my researches I hadn’t really payed much attention to how the world has changed with our innovations. It's at this moment, when I take notice of how much the world has changed that I start feeling the weight of old age.

a week after that I got to see the princess, I wanted to announce her that I will change my objective for a moment. Now that I finally noticed that time continue to flow, I wanted to follow the path of my mentor and find somepony that will be my apprentice and to who I could give my knowledge and make it travel through generations even after my death. Some will say that it isn't needed because all was archived in Canterlot but what you can’t find in it was the history, the stories and the moral behind all of it, without forgetting all the stories I read a long time ago while I was studying under the princess.

when I first told the princess about it, she looked surprised but happy and then she asked me what I'd planned to do to find my future apprentice. I did think about it but instead of following a logic to find it simply told her that I will simply travel through Equestria and take back what I missed during all those years of research, my first stop was to go to Ponyville, to see the old school of friendship and the monument of harmony

I wasn't expecting it when she asked me if it would be okay to sleep in her old castle during my stay, she could even organise something for me in the school of friendship. the thing she wanted from me was to get there some days beforehand, to help the still growing city to organise an annual event which, she assure me, would be a lot of fun

after hers, it was my turn to surprise her by saying that I wanted to travel at hooves so I could take time to look around and not just get to the place in an instant. It was really strange for somepony like me who helped to make the world what it is,
I just wanted to travel like it was before all those changes.

Author's Note

so, this is the first book of 'The Nameless Pony'.
i'd like to say some things at first. to start, it is called "book" because of how long the chapter will be, as i write that, the first chaptere is say as around 10k wors if not more. now, why long chapter? because i'd like to make the story by chunck, each chapter having a goal or a big event plus some things around. (don't know if it's clear but i think you will understand by reading it)
and at last, because of how long the chapter are and my habit to start too much things at once, i don't know how long will there be between each chapter, the next one have it's plan but is in writing, i'm finishing the first part of it and it's already at 2k words.

i don't think i have anything more to say and if yes it will be in the next chapter
