In a bakery, by an unnamed park in Canterlot, lives a herd of ponies. All earth ponies, and pegasi, there isn't a unicorn among them, so nopony's quite sure what to make of their newest filly; she's a unicorn, and possesses a strange combination of characteristics, or at least, that's what they think.
