Subject: Suspect Illegal and Unethical experiments by Lunar Psych Services
You don’t know me. Have to make this brief. They might be watching.
I’ve been working software consultation at Lunar Psych Services facility in Mount Everfree Asylum for two weeks now. Lots of NDA’s I’m breaking now, but people need to know what’s going on.
Terrible things are happening here. I don’t understand a lot of it, don’t even believe half the things I’ve seen. Doctors talking about dream therapy going “too deep”, and finding something that was “waiting for them in the mountain”. Ponies are dying here, and LPS is making billions.
It needs to be exposed.
Twilight glances over her shoulder and then looks at what she’s typed. ‘There’s still a chance’ she thinks, ‘just delete everything, wipe the hard drive, leave after your contract was up and never contact Sombra again.’ She shook her head and hit send. ‘“People need to know.” She said quietly, then freezes at the sound of the door opening.
“Hey Sparkle, you in here?” It was one of the security guards, Flash Sentry.
‘Shit.’ Twilight thinks to herself as she closed the laptop and hides it behind a garbage can. She tries to look calm and collected as she shuffled out from behind the server rack she’s been huddled behind.
“There you are. They’ve paged for you three times already. There’s something going on at the Engine. What’re you doing back there anyway?” Flash asks.
“Just trying to find somewhere quiet to rest.” Twilight smiles a bit, trying to not seem suspicious.
Flash raises his eyebrow a bit. “Uh-huh. Well, get moving. The company isn’t paying you to slack off.”
Sparkle nods and quickly starts making her way to the control room for the Nightmare Engine.
“Where the hell is Sparkle? She should’ve been here ten minutes ago.” One of the scientists in lab coats says as she walks in. He turns and gives her a glare. “Sparkle, finally. Maybe now we can get some work done.”
Twilight just nods quietly as she sits and looks at the screen.
“They’re bringing the next subject in two minutes.” One of the scientists says.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure Miss Sparkle will get us up and running in no time. After all, I’m sure she wouldn’t want to disappoint the company, would she?” The one next to her says in a mildly threatening tone, giving her a sideways glance, and creepy glance at her chest.
Twilight just keeps typing, going through the code looking for what’s wrong.
“90 seconds.” One of the female technicians says
“C’mon Sparkle. We need that connection.” The creepy doctor gives her another look.
“Working on it...” Twilight says, starting to get a bit nervous.
Two guards enter the Engine room, dragging with them a screaming white unicorn wearing a grey jumpsuit, with a bloody stump where her horn used to be.
“Sixty seconds until installation.” The female technician continues the countdown.
“Got it.” Twilight finds the error and works on correcting it.
“Get off of me!” The white unicorn shouts and breaks free of the guards, bolting towards the plexiglass door separating the control room from the actual Engine, making Twilight jump up from her chair. “Help me! Help me!” She slams her fists against the window, staring at Twilight, her blue eyes boring in the lavender unicorns soul. “You! You can help me! You need to-“ she’s cut off by one of the guards jumping up and pulling her away. “Help! HELP!” The white unicorn shouts as she’s dragged away.
Twilight stands there, still in shock, while the mare is dragged away. One of the guards walks over, his hand on his gun, about to say something to her when the creepy doctor stops her. “It’s ok, I’m sure Miss Sparkle is just a bit rattled. That was a jarring experience for her. Why don’t you head out early for the night Miss Sparkle? Take a few days off.”
Twilight doesn’t hear him at first, watching the monitors as the white mare is stripped of her jumpsuit and loaded into one of the liquid-filled pods connected to the engine and restrained, with tubes shoved down her nose and throat.
“Miss Sparkle?” The creepy doctor grabs her shoulder, giving it a firm squeeze, and snapping Twilight back to reality.
“Oh, oh...yeah. I...I’ll just go now...message if you need me...” twilight says and walks back to the server room to retrieve the laptop. She pauses outside, noticing the door was slightly ajar and starts to back up only to be grabbed by Flash who shoves her into the room and holds her with her arms behind her back as a white unicorn with a slicked back blue mane walks out from behind the server rack holding the laptop she’d used. It was Blueblood, the stallion in charge of Mount Everfree and the one who hired her.
“Someone’s been telling stories out of class,” Blue says and looks at Twilight. “Mrs. Twilight Sparkle, consulting contract 8208. Hired as a software engineer with a level 3 security clearance. Graduated top of her class at Manehatten Institute of Technology. A master's degree in computer science and software programming.” He drops the laptop and steps on it, breaking the screen from the keyboard. “And somehow still stupid enough to think a borrowed laptop, and onion router and an encryption patch would be enough to fool the best cybersecurity money can buy. More than stupid, that was crazy, insane even. I’m afraid we’re going to have to have you committed.”
Twilight struggles and starts to protest, only to have Flash clamp her mouth shut.
“Miss Sparkle, do you willingly submit to forced confinement?” He pauses a bit. “Did you hear that Flash?”
“Sounded like a yes, Mr. Blue,” Flash says.
“Excellent, oh and did I just Miss Sparkle volunteer for the Nightmare Engine Program?” Blueblood asks sarcastically
“That’s what I heard sir,” Flash says and tightens his grip on Twilight.
“Very brave of you Twilight, very brave indeed.” Blueblood grins cold, “The Lunar Corporation and the onward march of science appreciate your courage and sacrifice. Mister Sentry, Maybe you could administer Miss Sparkle here a light sedative?”
“Gladly,” Flash says and throws twilight into the wall, then pulls out his nightstick and whacks her over the head knocking her to the floor. He looks down at her as she tries to stand and hits her again this time in the stomach, before finally kicking her in the head, knocking her out completely.
Twilight wakes up several hours later as she’s being strapped into a chair, pain radiating from where her horn used to be, and that creepy doctor from the control room tightening a series of restraints. “Finally awake, good.” He smiles and gets right in front of her. Twilight starts to pass out again, earning her a hard slap across the face to wake her up. “Oh I’m sorry, did that hurt? Let me fix that.” The doctor leans in close and licks the side of her face slowly. “Now you just sit tight here, get comfortable, remember to keep your hands, arms, feet, and legs, inside the vehicle at all times, and enjoy the show.” He switches on the screens displaying the hypnotherapy images used in the morphogenic engine and activates a camera to record the effects. He gives her a final kiss to ear and then leaves, locking the door and trapping Twilight for good.
Much Later
Twilight didn’t know how long she’d been strapped to that damn chair. She’d long since screamed herself hoarse, she didn’t even bother struggling against the restraints anymore. Her head hurt, her eyes hurt, and there was this buzzing that was driving her crazy. She’s snapped out of her trance when the screens in front of her shut off and the door behind her opens. “Hello there Sparkle.” ‘Fuck’ she thinks, ‘it’s the pervert who strapped me in here...’ she watches him as he walks around in front of her. “I hoped you were still alive.” He says removing the IV drip, and the monitoring equipment she’d been hooked up too, taking his time to feel her up as she does so. “Now we’re going to have some fun.” He undoes the strap of her chair, lifts her out, and tosses her to the floor. She tries to move but after being strapped in that chair for possibly days without moving, and only an IV for nutrients, has left her weak and her muscles stiff. The doctor looks down at her grinning. Before he can do anything else he’s tackled to the floor by a screaming patient.
Twilight starts slowly crawling away while the doctor is beat bloody by her ‘rescuer’. Once she gets outside, she kicks the door shut locking them both inside. She sits there for a bit, listening to the alarms and wondering what the hell is going on while her limbs regain feeling. She slowly stands up, only to fall to her knees as the images and buzzing from the Engine flash briefly in her mind. Her ears perk up at the sound of footsteps approaching her.
“Oh. My child.” An elderly grey earth pony in a homemade priest outfit kneels down next to her. “We must leave this place, quickly. God has been released, and he is angry.”
The ‘priest’ helps her to her feet and hands her three things: a camera, a hand-drawn map, and a small flip-out pocket knife.
“Take these, make your way to chapel. You must bear witness to what is happening.” The ‘priest’ then rushes off to do who knows what.
Twilight looks at the camera. ‘Night vision, zoom, a microphone...I can work with this.’ She thinks and quickly looks at the map then puts it in her waistline. She raises the camera and starts slowly walking down the hallway. ‘How long has it been?’ She asks herself as she looks around at the blood splatters on the walls. ‘Has to have been more than a few hours for all this to happen...’ Twilight sees movement ahead in one of the rooms and uses the zoom on the camera to see what it is. ‘Oh fuck...’ What she sees is three inmates, all of them earth ponies, gathered around a table, stabbing a corpse with large bits of metal and shards of glass.
One of them looks up and stares directly at her with bloodshot yellow eyes, seriously freaking her out. She looks for another way to go and finds nothing. ‘Shit...’ she readies her pocket knife and slowly makes her way down the hall, keeping her eye on the group.
“Hey!” One of them shouts. “You! Yeah, the purple bitch with the wandering eyes. Wanna join us? Take out some anger with a little group therapy?” He stabs the corpse again and gently strokes its face. “It can be...quite cathartic.”
Twilight stays silent and looks around, to her horror the only way to go right now is through that room. It’s either deal with the “therapy group” or go back the way she came and find another route. She decides to not risk it and starts backing away slowly, all the while keeping her eyes on the three ponies in the room.
“Oh, I guess you’re too good for us is that it?” The leader says as she starts to back away. “You’re lucky I’m in a good mood, or it’d be you on this table. Now get the fuck out of here before I change my mind.”
Twilight takes his advice and speeds up her retreat to a brisk walk. Once they’re out of eyesight she turns around fully and heads back towards where her cell was, hoping to find something, a hole in the wall, an unlocked door, an air vent, anything. There’s the crash of a door being bashed open ahead, followed by heavy footsteps and animalistic grunts.
Trying not to panic Twilight looks around for somewhere to hide and finds a small janitor's closet with the door ajar. She quickly shoves the door open and then slams it shut, leaning against it to act as a doorstop. She sits there in the dark, her hand clamped over her mouth as footsteps approach, inching closer and closer before finally stopping outside the closet door.
“I smell something...” a thick rumbly voice says from the other side of the door.
Twilight slowly adjusts the screen on her camera and aims it up towards the small window on the door. She chokes back a scream at what she sees. Standing there was an absolute mountain of a Pegasus with the flesh on his face scraped off. She remembered hearing something about a patient like that, a former soldier who had a habit of self-mutilation and constantly getting into fights. Bulk Biceps, that was his name. Violent and angry even before they started experimenting on him, there was no telling what he would do if he caught her.
Twilight keeps the camera on the door for what feels like forever until Bulk finally moves away, slowly stomping down the hallway. She flips the screen back around and gets a good look at the closet she’s in. It’s been picked clean, nothing but empty shelves and an open-air vent. Twilight weighs her options, she can risk dealing with Bulk or shimmy through the air vents and hope she ends up somewhere marginally safer. She sighs and starts climbing up the shelves to reach the vent, squeezing into the ducts. After adjusting the camera so she can see, she starts slowly shimmying through the ducts.
‘Thank Celestia for these old buildings and their big air ducts.’ She thinks as she crawls slowly. ‘I just need to find a way to the main lobby-‘ her thoughts are cut off by the sound of screams from below her. She freezes and looks down through the vent below her. It’s Bulk and he’s ripping apart the ‘therapy’ group from earlier. Twilight can only watch in horror as Bulk grabs two of the guys by the throat and smashes their heads together over and over until there’s only a bloody mess left. The third one tries to run, only to be tackled by the thrown corpse of one of his friends.
Bulk stomps over, stands on the guys' legs, grabs his arms, and starts pulling. Amid the screaming, sickeningly wet popping sounds can be heard as his hips and shoulders are wrenched out of there sockets. After a few agonizing seconds, there’s another series of wet popping sounds followed by a loud squelching rip as the ponies torso is torn from his lower body, and one of his arms is ripped off.
Twilight nearly vomits at the sight of the ponies organs falling out, and the sound of them splatting on the floor. Bulk drops the now dead stallion and stomps on his head several times for good measure.
“Must keep it contained...” he looks around the room, his gaze briefly pausing on Twilights hiding place. She holds her breath, hoping that the thunderous pounding of her heart is only audible to her. After a few seconds Bulk turns away, ripping open the door on the opposite side of the room and continuing on his hunt.
Twilight waits until his stomping isn’t audible anymore before daring to breathe again, gasping for air. She takes one last look at the carnage below her and resumes her crawling through the vents.
After a few more meters Twilight reaches what looks like a security room and drops down into it. She quickly looks around and sighs a bit in relief when she sees the doors locked and the bulletproof windows, despite being scratched up and covered in a mix of blood and feces are intact. What’s less comforting is the rotting corpse of one of the Pegasi security guards lying in a pool of blood next to the door, a broken pipe empaled in his chest and his wings mangled. Twilight gulps at the sight and elects to try and ignore it while she gets her bearings, moving to the security desk and looking at the cameras.
“C’mon...C'mon....” She cycles through the cameras, pausing on a figure in the generator room. “What’s he doing?” The figure turns to look at the camera, it’s the eyeless face staring into twilights, as the screen flashes with images from the hypnotherapy, and that droning sound fills her ears, as pain shoot through her head and down her spine. Twilight falls to her knees, muffling her screams of pain by shoving part of her hand in her mouth. She thinks she hears the sound of voices as she falls over and then blacks out.

03-2023: I’m revisiting this old story and hopefully I can actually finish it this time.
