Chapters Today was like any other day in Canterlot. I woke up at dawn like every day, I ate my cereal soon after like every day, and took a shower like every day. Oddly enough, however, I was looking forward to work today. Today was one of those days where you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on a days worth of work. I grabbed my glasses and walked outside.
I grin appeared on my face as I said "Well, I guess I'll enjoy today."
While I do rather enjoy my life in such a wonderful place, it's not all the time that things like this happen. Usually my day consists of waking up, getting ready, walking or flying to the command post, (depending on the predicted weather), doing my job, relaxing, and then rinsing and repeating. It's nothing bad, but not exactly anything special either. Sure, I fantasize about living in a larger place than this, with a loving mare at my side, but this will do just fine. I shut the door behind me and decided to fly to the command post (known simply as "the post" to my fellow mares and stallions) since today seemed to be a leisurely day. I stepped away from the apartment building, stretched my wings, and took off. The familiar sight of more and more Canterlot began come into view. As I predicted, a calm day indeed.
Though, just as I was enjoying the mood, something felt a bit off. It was that thought of having a mare to call mine. Sure, I have a fine life, and I certainly do enjoy it, but being lonely sort of cuts into my mood, whatever it be. Come to think of it that may be my fault. I am strangely "anti-social". It's not that I dislike other ponies or the way they act or something like that, because I like spending time with my friends at work and occasionally a dinner with them. No it's just that I lack the motivation rather. I have every opportunity to make friends, and form close bonds. But when it comes to mares, there's a completely different story. Whenever I've forced myself to try to ask one on a date, it's either ended with a polite "no" (which is just as devastating as an impolite 'no', they both carry the same meaning), or simply getting to nervous and bailing out. I have options however; There's Thunderbolt whose been showing interest, or there's Skyflier too. But deep down, I've always had-
"Oomf!" I forced out as I hit something. I briefly lost my balance and began to fall but flight instincts told me otherwise. Regaining stable flight and looking up at a light pole, I realized I'd been so caught up in my thoughts that I actually flew face-first into it. Ouch. Setting myself down on the same cloud as the post I walked in and greeted the post-master.
"Morning sir." I said, saluting the much larger Pegasus.
"Morning Poland, seeing stars before the day has even started?" He exclaimed with a slight chuckle in his voice. He's always been a great postmaster, he always seemed at ease and treated sky patrol as his peers.
Even though my head was still throbbing, the thought of seeing somepony else doing what i did must've been funny.
I let out a few laughs- "Yes sir, getting a solid start to the day!" A grin reappearing on my face.
"Well, a patrol earlier had reported some darker clouds of the Everfree forest, so keep an eye out."
And with that, I was on my way. I particularly liked my new route ;It was longer than the old one no doubt, but it brought me over the outskirts of Canterlot, over the Everfree forest, over ponyville, and by the castle, my favorite part. I rather like the morning run, since when the sun is being risen by Princess Celestia (Which I don't see too often when on the last part of my route), the golden, gleaming sunlight strikes Canterlot in such a way that causes the rooftops to shine like they were just polished, and its really a sight to see. But the night time route is the one I most enjoy. Most times I would see Princess Luna on her tower behind her telescope, gazing at the stars. I'll admit I do admire her, but only from a far
The day went as usual, normal storm-cutting and dissipating. Today was going to be just another day, despite the mood when I woke up. The only thing that was different was that I saw Princess Celestia outside on her tower, something that I don't see too often. Most likely because she is too busy with royal duties. Even though Princess Luna's return was over a year ago, Celestia seems to have been doing much of the work. After the morning route I returned home, tired of flying for so long- I was still getting used to the required stamina. I walked into apartment 4B, and walked upstairs to the first door on the right. I never really liked how close to the stairs it was, since you could hear other ponies walking upstairs... I laid down on my bed and took a much needed nap, though my headache from the mornings incident still hasn't gone away.
My alarm rang at 8:30 signaling I had to begin the night route, though I had no problem waking up myself. The sunset it beautiful as the low sun results in a sharp silhouette in place of the castle. I flew back to the post, making sure to avoid any objects this time, and let the postmaster know I was going out on my route. I set off, making sure no night clouds would be sneaking up on any of the towns or cities, as they can be hard to spot as the light level decreases. Luckily for me there was only one cloud over the Everfree forest and it wasn't saturated enough to bother with. It was rather calm tonight, there was very little turbulence and the air felt comfortable. Finally after flying the rest of the route, a flyby of the castle. As I approached the castle I looked toward Princess Luna's tower. The past few nights she hadn't been there, to my disappointment. But tonight she was in that same high tower that I've seen her in before, next to her signature telescope. From what I know she hasn't noticed me, or if so it had to have been just a normal sight. I have never really been to the castle itself, only seen it when i passed by. It did look very intricate and detailed so I thought having a closer look wouldn't do much harm. The only thing stopping me from actually flying that 30 feet closer was Princess Luna. What if she saw me? What would happen?
"Probably nothing." I reassured myself. Still, I got nervous and I could feel my heart beat start to increase in speed and intensity, which may not be a good thing since it was already high from flying. As I approached the castle instead of studying the ground and building below, my gaze inevitably turned to the blue princess keeping a watchful eye on the night sky. My heart beat got even more intense. "Why am I so nervous? She doesn't even see me! I'm just flying a route like I do every night! Get a hold of yourself! " I thought to myself as I was approaching being parallel with her tower. Finally, I began to pass it.
I was just breathing out a sign of relief when...
"You! Sky patrol!"
My heart stopped and a million thoughts and emotions hit me like a freight train. The very sound of Princess Luna's voice made me freeze up. The worst of my nightmares are happening! Wait, is it something I did, or rather did not do? I frantically checked around for storm clouds or when I heard her again-
"Come here sky patrol!"
Her voice was loud, though since her height above the rest of the castle, and therefore Canterlot was high, it may have been difficult for ponies on the ground to hear. Panicking the entire time, I turned around and flew over to her tower.
"Princess Luna!" I said, "I'm sorry, did I do anything wrong?"
"No, you are doing a fine job." she replied, with, oddly enough, a tenderness now in her voice.
"Oh, uh, thank you... your majesty." I said. "Wait, why did she call me over then? Simply to say I wasn't doing anything wrong?"
"May I ask your name?"
"M-my name is Poland, I think I know your name already."
I forced a short laugh. "Idiot. I think I know your name?" I thought, still shaking from fear. Thankfully much of it subsided, so I didn't look completely idiotic.
Hold on a second, there's something... Wrong. I can feel it. Is that sadness I see and hear? Impossible! She's a princess for Celestia's sake! I mean the night can be a lonely time, but is doesn't feel like that.
"Nice to meet you, Poland. I've seen you fly by castle many times" She said, pointing to my previous direction of travel. I noticed her metal shoe-like thing on the end of her forehoof. Looking at her up close her mane appeared to have stars in it, and freely floated in the wind- unlike anything I've ever seen.
"Oh well actually" I said, scratching the back of my neck with my forehoof, "I'm still new on the route." "Oh my... Did I just correct the princess? Idiot again!"
"I see." She responded. She then looked up at the cloudless night sky, and I soon followed. Now that I take a break from flying to appreciate the sky she had put up, it is stunning. The sheer amount of little white specs, either randomly placed or in constellations, is interesting and intriguing. Looking back down again she still looks sad... Maybe if I ask...
"Princess?" I quietly and carefully said.
"Yes, Poland?" She asked.
"Is there anything wrong? You don't seem to be very happy."
She sighed, "It just gets somewhat... Solitary up here, that's all. Thank you for asking."
"Was that a small smile I just saw appear on her face?" It was then my heart began racing again when I thought of saying that I fly by every night. No, that's much too stupid, but it's true! Maybe she needs company. I don't particularly have a schedule or time to return to the post by so... "Ok, I'll tell her I fly by often and then tell her I must get going. Not only would that be a nice gesture, but also a way of dismissing the short conversation." Not that I didn't want to be talking and sitting next to the princess, but it seemed appropriate that this would be the time to leave. So I did just that, though I was so nervous I nearly fainted in the process.
"So, um, I need to return to the post; But I do fly by the castle around this time every weekday, so if you ever need company-
" I was cut short of finishing.
"I understand. Have a nice evening, Poland"
"And.. you as well, Princess Luna."
And with that said I bowed began flying back to the post. It was certainly not "just another day". No far from that. Actually I cant believe that just happened. When I arrived I let the postmaster know that my route is completed, reported that there was only one cloud in sight, and once again flew home. Unfortunately I was still nervous, and my wings were still faltering here and there. As I land on the ground my legs are quite wobbly as well. Why were they not weak when I was literally standing right next to the goddess of the night? I concluded that they probably were, but my mind was simply racing too fast in such a surreal experience to even notice it. I walked into 4B, up the stairs and into my bedroom. As I laid down in my bed I took a deep breath and tried my best to recap just what had happened.
Ok, so the most beautiful mare in all of Equestria called me over to tell me I was doing a good job, we exchanged names (sort of), and are now acquaintances. Though the way she said 'I understand', does that mean she does or doesn't want me to visit again?
I concluded that she was the one who called me over, so she probably does want me to visit again. "Oh well, it'll be a very very long weekend..." I thought to myself as I fell asleep, with a smile still on my face.
My eyes sprung open, and my mind thought only a single, dominant thought-
"It's Monday, you know what this means."
The day before something big or meaningful happens is always odd. Mainly because the event never leaves your mind, really. Today was the day I was going to visit Luna again.
My weekend consisted of anxiety, calming thoughts and deep breaths that followed. Unfortunately that is a problem of mine- I have a slight case of anxiety. Not socially crippling, but it does get to you sometimes.
"Tonight will be fine. There's no need to be nervous. It's... Fine. Besides, she needs company, so your doing something good."
Thinking that, I reluctantly got out of bed and made myself breakfast. While I have a great job, and now it's only better, waking up at dawn can be rather difficult sometimes, when there is only a bit of light outside. But I had absolutely no problem waking up today, for sure. I took a shower and readied myself to head off to the post for the first time today. Leaving 4B, I shut the door behind me, took a deep breath, and set off. This mornings flight seemed to last longer than usual, and I knew that was because I knew what was to become of tonight. I dreaded it, yet I also couldn't wait. A very stressing mix of emotions, as you can imagine.
When I arrived at the post I made sure not to hit a light pole, or any objects for that matter, and greeted the postmaster with the usual
"Good morning sir."
"Morning Poland. You know you don't have to call me sir, right? You've worked here for over a year now." He said.
"Well I'll keep that in mind... Well speaking of- I've always just addressed you as 'sir' or 'postmaster'. What is your real name anyway?"
"You don't know what my name is?" He replied with amusement. "Ask around! You got plenty of friends that know."
"Will do. By the way I might be clocking out a bit late tonight." I said somewhat nervously. Not nervous for him to notice, hopefully.
"And why's that? You going on a date or something?" He teased.
My first reaction screamed "He knows! I'm doomed!" , but thinking about it for a second made me realize that the probability of him knowing I'm visiting Princess Luna would be improbable.
I calmly replied "I wanted to take some extra time and...enjoy the night."
"Oh really..." he said with suspicion in his voice.
And 5 seconds of silence later-
"WITH ANOTHER PONY!" And he broke out in laughter. What is so funny about that? It's just a date- Well no it's not even a date! I'm getting way ahead of myself here. Noticing I was slightly blushing it was "Fight a hopelessly loosing teasing contest" or "Fly and do your job while avoiding any further embarrassment. I think the option was clear.
"Have a nice day... Whatever your name is!" I chuckled a bit myself, though that could come across as harsh.
"H-have a nn-ice day" He replied, supressing his laughter.
I still have no clue why that was so funny. Maybe because he was older or something and any kind of young romance gives him the giggles. Whatever. I walked outside into the fresh morning air and proceeded to fly towards my route. I guess I was a bit late because the sun was already about an hour's worth above the horizon. At least I don't have to rush this time! But I will later tonight, and the thoughts about that popped up and consumed me once again.
Ponyville always looked like a nice little town from the air. It looked like a lower class place than Canterlot, but that was to be expected. Canterlot was the most sophisticated place in Equestria, though not the most populated. I think Manehatten gets that one, despite Canterlot being where Equestria's rulers live and raise the sun and moon from.
Moon, to Luna, to nervous , it's as simple and quick as that to get me on-edge again. I tried my best to push the thoughts about her out of my mind but they just kept popping back up. I guess my thoughts now doesn't really make a difference about how I am later. Besides, I have hours until my night route comes. Again, I'm getting way ahead of myself. I passed the Everfree forest again, and I noticed a cloud too big to let go. That's also another job for weather-patrol Pegasi- Is to break up and release the rain from rain or thunderstorm clouds. Nicely enough, this cloud looked much bigger from my previous angle,and upon further inspection it wasn't that bad at all. Releasing the rain from clouds is actually easy once you get practice. It requires you to go up maybe 10 feet and drop down on all four hooves and that usually does it.
5 minutes later I was done. Nearing the end of my run was by the castle. In the distance I saw Princess Celestia standing atop her tower. Among all of the odd things that has happened in these past days, seeing the sun goddess two days in a row can be added to the list as well. As I passed the castle I looked at Luna's empty tower. It looks nice in the daytime, with the telescope shining, the tiles shining, the backdrop behind it, Princess Celestia looking directly at me..
Wait, why is she looking at me? What... I don't even... She's still staring at me! Ok, just act calm and look ahead. You didn't notice that! No no no, you were just... just flying by and wasn't looking.
When I neared the post I finally had some time to think about it. What did that mean? Did Luna talk to her or something? And then how did she know it was me? Well, then again I do that same path every day, so that wouldn't be hard. But still, that was intriguing and only made me think harder about it, and made me more nervous for tonight.
"See you at night, Aero" I said, proudly stating that I'd learned his name from a passing co-worker on landing.
He looked up from his newspaper he was reading-
"Ok see ya then!" With the no signs of laughter. He probably saw that I blushed earlier.
Well that's embarrassing.
8:00 came like it was 5 minutes later. For the second time today I readied myself and flew to the post. I wanted to get in and out of Aero's office as quick as I could to avoid any further humiliation, but he got me right as I was coming up to the door to leave.
"Poland" He said with a straight face, "Good luck!"
"Umm...Thanks?" I said with a 'I have no clue what your talking about' face.
"Now go!"
I threw my hooves up in the air as if to surrender
"Okay Aero I'm going! I'm going!" I replied with only a bit of nervous feeling in my chest.
Well great, what does that mean? I decided to forget about that for now.
The night was perfect, much like Fridays; Just a bit chillier. To my luck the weekend's weather was worse, with 5 collective storm clouds over the Everfree. That really is a nasty place when it comes to storms. I took a second look over the forest and saw nothing but unsaturated clouds- Perfect. After that everything went in fast motion, as if somepony were pressing the "Skip forward" on a tape player. Half because I was nervous and what not, and half because I actually was flying fast, not to keep the princess waiting. At last I saw the castle in the distance. I felt those butterflies in my stomach, but pushed them away. I can't look like the idiot I probably looked like on Friday night. I neared the castle and slowed down, scanning the towers for Luna. At first I didn't see anypony, so I carefully scanned each tower.
But... I didn't see the mare anywhere.
The feeling of disappointment was unbearable, and I'm sure I looked disappointed as well. I continued on, miserable, when suddenly I caught something in the corner of my eye. Turning my head, it almost looked like somepony waving their forehoof...
It was Princess Luna!
She was underneath the small roof of the tower! Oh the relief! I didn't even care that she probably saw me look disappointed! The night would turn out fine!
She then curled her foreleg making a "Come here" motion. The feeling of relief blocked out 90% of nervousness, which made things so much easier. I flew back over to her.
"Princess Luna!" I exclaimed, "I didn't see you! How are you?"
When I said that she seemed to light up a bit.
"Fine Poland, how are you?" she calmly replied.
"Good." I calmly replied as well. "Quite a nice night out, isn't it?"
I was baffling myself at the ease of which I was saying these things.
"I agree. I put some work into it when you left last Friday night. Also, saying 'Princess' isn't required."
I didn't expect that. I mean, addressing a Princess as any other pony? I am just a Pegasus! Surely only her personal friends and relatives would be able to do that.
"It looks marvelous, Prin- umm... What would you like me to call you?"
"Luna is fine." She said, turning her head to the sky to look at her masterpiece once more.
"Okay, Luna." I couldn't help but smiling a bit when I said that.
"So do you bring any other ponies up here to watch the sky? I mean it's quite a view."
Luna's face saddened a bit. Too personal?
She took a breath to reply but stopped herself short. After a brief moment of pondering,
"No, not usually. Not anypony of your... Status. I've brought the royal family but other than that..." Her voice trailed off.
I felt a bit of sorrow just then, seemingly out of the blue. After about a minute of silence I looked over at Luna's face to find a tear escaping.
Oh no what did I do!
"Luna, are you Alright? I quietly said.
She stayed quiet. I could see a few more tears now. I bet she feels so lonely. I felt so bad it almost had me in tears.
Why is she crying in front of me though? I literally just met her...
"I'm so sorry, was it something I said?"
I felt genuinely bad for the princess. Was it my fault? Making a princess cry would be something I couldn't forgive myself for, even if I didn't intend to. It's my fault isn't it. Well now that's crashed and burned; another failed..something. Maybe I'll give a last gesture of kindness before she shoos me away.
"Do...You... want a hug?"
Silence ensued. What happened next surprised me.
She actually began nodding her head, and I could see her eyes shut tight. So, well, I stepped in front of her and hugged the princess, and she hugged back. I could tell she was silently lamenting. I actually felt her pain, and it defiantly hurt. I can understand it though, she was banished to the moon for 1000 years and now that she's back she has no friends, and no stallion to share her time with. While I don't have any mare to spend my time with, I certainly wasn't sent to the moon for 1,000 years!
Her body was warm, and her mane was silently flowing in very little amount of wind that was up here. She was lighter than i expected; She defiantly was a larger pony than me, but felt about the same weight. The princess then buried her nose into my shoulder.
How is this happening??
Well if she is willing to give somepony like me a long, meaningful hug on their second time meeting, then maybe...
"Do.. you.. want.. to talk about it?" I asked.
She responded by pushing her nose a bit harder into my shoulder. I guess not.
That made my empathy skyrocket, however. I never felt so bad for anypony. I felt a connection and it was like none other. It was like a... like a deep caring; It's hard to describe.
Just then I felt a small drop land on my shoulder. I couldn't hold back anymore, I allowed just a couple tears to roll down my cheek. But that's it. I couldn't make myself look emotional in front of the seemingly heartbroken princess I suddenly cared so deeply for, even if it was a trait to be desired.
Luna let go of her grip a bit, signalling that she wanted to let go of our hug. So I relaxed my arms and she slid out from them. She glanced at me, noticing my couple of tears.
Oh Celestia, please don't mention them...
She then looked away, and the occasional chilling gusts of wind was the only thing to be heard. Luna composed herself, wiping away her tears. I then took the opportunity to clear my face too.
Looking back over at me,
"I'm so sorry, have I wasted your time?" She said with a bit of sadness still in her voice.
"Of course you haven't." I lightly replied to her.
The silence continued once more.
"If you ever need somepony to talk to, other than your relatives, I am willing to listen." I said.
"Thank you, Poland." With her frown slowly disappearing. "Perhaps Wednesday?"
"Absolutely. I'll be there."
"Eh-hem", clearing her throat, "Thank you again, I suppose you should be needing sleep now." she said, now with some hope to be heard.
"Okay then... So, uh, I'll see you on Wednesday." With a slight blush forming. Why now??
"Sleep well, Poland."
"You too." I reluctantly said. I didn't really want to leave her but I think she needed some time by herself, which I completely understand.
And so I flew off, head down, towards the post. I knew I was late and that Aero would probably tease me. He did, and I accepted it, though I did NOT go on a date! Besides, why would I be going on one when I was on the job? It didn't matter, since the castle was my last stop anyway, (though he didn't know where I would've been visiting somepony) but it didn't make sense that he thinks I'm getting into relationships just like that. Then again, he himself didn't make sense sometimes...
As I landed back at 4B, I noticed I wasn't wobbly or nervous like last time. I guess that's progress? Not planned progress of course. In fact when you think about it when we met it was simply an awkward exchange of words. This time it was a quick greeting, hugging and crying, a tiny bit of talking, plan making and leaving; Yet it seemed like so much had happened. Thinking about it now, most ponies would consider that an incredibly awkward encounter, and they wouldn't be wrong. I mean, at least meetings of that fashion would result in some kind of conversation... and, usually ponies meeting on a second occasion don't just cry like that...
"Ugh" I said aloud, my head flopping down on my pillow.
That's enough emotions for now...
Who knows what will happen on Wednesday, I certainly don't. Anything could happen really, considering that the Princess of the night, whom I've just recently met, decided to share a long hug with me. At least I wasn't nervous, and that's a step in the right direction, I guess.
I really need to stop thinking about what will happen come tomorrow night. I need to get some sleep! Who knows how long I'll be up for! I thought, trying to focus on falling asleep. It was no use. Besides, staying up because of Luna in general has broken my normal sleep times. On any given day I would fall asleep at around 10:00 and wake up when just a bit of light came, which was usually around 5 o'clock. That gave me a good 7 hours of sleep, which worked well enough for me. But these past 5 days has blown my normal times out of the water. Friday and Monday had about 4-5 hours of sleep, and tonight didn't seem like an exception. I took a look at my clock; 11:50.
Great.
If I fall asleep within the next 10 minutes then I'll at least have... What, 5 hours? Ugh. Ok if I concentrate on sleep maybe I'll doze off and get enough hours for me to operate normally.
It was no use. It would be at least another 30 minutes until I felt tired enough. Oh well...
“So, tell me exactly why you think dating and relationships and stuff are so funny?”
“I don't know, really. I actually asked myself the same thing. Maybe because I'm just an old stallion, I don't know!” Aero replied.
“Uh huh.” I said. “And just who do you suspect I'd be meeting, during work may I add.”
“Not my problem! As long as you do your job then I don't really care.” He said, sipping his coffee.
“Alright...” I suspiciously replied. “I'll be on my way then.”
Coffee still in his mouth, he raised his mug as if were to say 'Have a good one'.
I decided to fly a bit higher today, as to get a better view of Canterlot. It really was an intricate place, and a society to match it perfectly. Mornings were always beautiful there, as weather patrol here (including me, at least before Friday) were always alert and well trained. We all knew that we could get in trouble if a raincloud were to float over Canterlot, or worse, rain while there. While all of the houses had roofs, the delicate clothing most ponies wore could be completely ruined, and that meant the pegasus responsible would have to pay for repairs or replacements. And that meant that I would have to take care of the cloud I've been watching since the Everfree came into view.
There was defiantly more rain in these set of clouds than earlier this week and lasts. Thinking about it, Monday had some rain, and today had more rain. Could this possibly be some kind of foreshadowing? The odds seem rather low in numbers; Then again, so were the odds of me even meeting Luna in the first place, much less what happened Monday.
After that the rest of the route was surprisingly normal. No Princesses, no more clouds, just like any other day. The night, I knew, would be the opposite.

The time of year made the sunset look absolutely beautiful. Not only that but I could actually enjoy it. I wasn't nervous at all, unlike I'd expected. I was hoping that Luna would tell me about why she was so sad. Sure I have a vague idea as to why, but I wanted to know her story, and give her some support if she needed it. And maybe help her out with that loneliness... I shut the thought out of my head. A relationship with Luna? Now that's really far-fetched. The chance of what happened before was already pretty slim, but having any kind of relation beyond what will probably happen tonight is about 1%. More like 1% of 1%.
She was in the same place as she was last night- On her tower behind the gold-plated telescope. As I neared closer I saw that she wore a completely calm face. I noticed that her weightless mane flowed, regardless of whether there was wind or not. She finally noticed me when I was literally within feet of her. I guess she was trying to organize her thoughts and think about what to say. She looked pleasantly surprised.
“Poland! How are you?” She exclaimed in a casual manner. I suppose there wasn't a reason to be very formal anymore.
“Hi Luna, I'm doing good! How are you doing yourself?” I said with a smile. I noticed she was sitting on a blanket that had two glasses, a small candle and a bottle of wine on it. That's a bit odd- usually those things would be used on a...
It hit me like an express train.
On a date. But why? This isn't a date... I think. No, dates are two ponies either meeting for the first time, or on one of their first few times getting to know each other. Then they usually discuss their lives...
Oh my Celestia, I'm on a date with Princess Luna, aren't I?
“I'm happy!” She eagerly said.
“Happy?”
“Happy to be here with you, of course!” Luna replied.
Did she just say that? What? I don't even... This is so confusing.
“Well I am too!” We both smiled, though we didn't really make eye contact. Then again it would be hard to see, because of the darkness. I really wasn't expecting all of this.
“Oh, uh, would you like some wine?” She asked. I'm not too into those kind of drinks, but this is an exception.
“Sure.” I replied. She then used her magic to lift up the bottle, open it, and pour a little over half a glass into each cup. I will admit that while I do rather enjoy flying, magic would be an interesting thing to learn. The levitational aspect looked neat, not to mention it's usefulness. Glancing at the bottle and noting the date I realized that it was just over 30 years old. Impressive. We then both took a sip. It didn't taste bad, actually.
“So tell me about yourself Poland.” Luna said. Yep, just like a date.
“Well, I'm 30 years old, I live in Canterlot and I'm on the weather patrol team.” I proceeded to tell her a bit more of my background; Where I was born, where I went to school, some growing-up stories, and how I got to this city. I was shocked at the relative ease all of this was to say. It was going great!
“So tell me about your self, Princess.” I said. Maybe we're getting somewhere here.
“Well, I raise and lower the Moon, I was banished to it for... a long time, came back as nightmare moon...” And she continued on with her background as well. It was interesting to hear such a story from a Princess; An inside look to things that most ponies don't know about.
Like me, she didn't mention any relationships. She had to have been in at least a couple in the past, considering she set up this stuff, and also how long she's been alive. Besides, she was quite a desirable mare. She has an elegant figure, a beautiful coat, and her mane... Well what can I say about her mane? I love it! The way it sparkles and effortlessly flows in the nonexistent breeze amazes me.
There was a burning question that I had to know the answer to.
“I've noticed that you seem lonely, Luna. Why is that?” I asked.
The mood seemed to change.
“Well, the night can be that way. Nearly everypony is sleeping at this point, and while they are awake, I don't really have anypony to talk to.” She said. I wondered if that was the whole story.
“And what about...” I stopped short of finishing.
“About what?” Luna asked. I guess it's now or never.
“Uhm, well about a stallion?” I slowly asked, having no idea what she would respond with.
She moved a bit closer to me.
“Most ponies seem to be too scared, me being a Princess and all.” She replied.
“But you didn't run away.” she added.
My heart stopped and time went by in slow motion. No way that just came out of her mouth.
What do I say back? I thought as I looked into her eyes, and she looked into mine.
“Umm...”I had to be blushing like crazy. I was at a loss for words (in a good way) and could only hope she picked up on it. We were under a full moon, and my face was so red that she probably did. We both looked away from each other. It was nerve-racking.
“Oh, I'm sorry” She said.
Stumbling over my words,
“Oh it's fine, I'm just...” nervous! I'm rediculously nervous! “Ah, whatever...”
Luna chose to leave it alone. She had to have known that I was quite timid, so does that mean that not everypony got too scared? I mean, at one one point she had to learn what was nervous and how to act. I took a sip of wine from my glass.
“Anyway,” she said, changing the subject, “It was interesting to learn so much about you, Poland. I hope we can meet again.” I felt like she wanted to say something else.
“Same here! You're quite an interesting pony, you know. I'd love to see you again too. Maybe... Saturday?” I happily replied.
“It sounds like a plan.” She said with a smile, standing up at the same time. I stood up as well. My Celestia, how long was I sitting there for?
“Well then” I said while opening my arms for a 'goodbye for now' hug.
She leaned in and gave me a hug, and thanked me for listening to her.
But before she let go... A small kiss landed on my right cheek. Now time completely froze. I was in disbelief, shock, and confusion! My legs felt weaker.
We pulled away from the hug, and I forced eye contact for a brief second. I didn't even care about the color of my face at this point.
“Oh.. Well I'll see you.. on Saturday, Luna.”
“I'll see you then, Poland.”
I was so baffled I knew I had to actually faint, it was simply too much for my brain to handle; But doing that in front of her would be so incredibly embarrassing I had to put it off. As I opened my wings all of the blood drained out of my face- I bet that didn't help either.
I then flew away, barely holding myself up with wings made of gelatin.
Where's the damn post?? My vision was starting to decrease, which made it hard to spot it when it was actually very close. I was getting disparate, and began to panic. I really didn't want to be 'The pegasus which fainted mid air and was found dead near the streets of Canterlot.'
Just as I lost feeling in my wings I managed to aviod outright crashing into the cloud in front of the small office.
And then... Nothing.
Something has gone wrong. We don't seem to have an archived copy of that chapter.
