I Just Dont Know What Went Wrong
Derpy sat there, still in her towel. Due to the awkward situation she was in, she simply stared at the tan rug carpeting. She had been staring at it for what felt like hours. After a while, she felt somewhat... Awkward staring at the carpeting. Her eyes slowly averted over to the coffee table in front of her, there were many things on the table. A watch, some (half-dead) flowers, a hair comb, a few muffin wrappers Derpy forgot to throw away, some bobby pins, and many more items that she and her husband rarely used in their day to day lives anymore. The one thing on the coffee table that stuck out to Derpy was the half-used box of tissues. She stared at the box, lost in her thoughts. So much so that when her husband, Time Turner (But more popularly known as Dr. Whooves), took another tissue from the box, she jumped slightly startled. Derpy's eyes slowly looked towards him, she had tried to avoid staring, but she was currently failing miserably. Derpy watched as Time blew his nose with his 9th tissue, and wiped his tear-filled eyes with his sleeve. Derpy desperately wanted to comfort him, but everything she said seemed to make him feel worse. Because of that, Derpy decided to stay quiet, worried she might say something else that'll upset him more. Derpy's eyes slowly looked back at the carpeting as she replayed what happened in her head in an attempt to figure out why Time was crying so much.
When Derpy announced she was going to take a shower, he was fine. Smiling even. Derpy thought of the possibility that he was crying due to him having to wait for her to finish before he could also shower, but when she offered to let him shower first he still didnt stop crying. Derpy then replayed what happened next in her head, she remembered undressing in the bathroom and noticing something inside her underwear that she was fairly used to. Blood. She remembered pouting slightly, as she stared annoyed at her soiled underwear. Now that Derpy was thinking back to it, she remembered, there was A LOT of blood. Much more than she was used to. She remembered putting on her towel and going back to Time to ask where they kept the pads again. Was Time crying because he also didnt remember where they kept them and he felt bad? It was a possibility Derpy considered, but then again Time wasnt the type of stallion to get this upset over something this trivial. Derpy stopped pondering the possibilities and continued playing the scenes in her head. She thought for a second and remembered exactly what Time said when she asked where they kept the pads.
"Now, why would you need to know THAT right now, Derpy?".
All Derpy said was that she was on her period again, and then Time got a horrified expression on his face. It was an expression Derpy had never seen on him, so she got very worried. She asked him if he was ok, but he simply slowly held his hands up to his temples, silently repeating "No" and "You cant be serious" to himself. Derpy, beyond confused, sat next to him and put her hand on her shoulder. She was about to ask what was wrong, until Time cut her off asking if she was sure she saw blood. Derpy simply smiled and reassured her husband that there was blood, a lot in fact. Then, thats when Time started sobbing. Even though Derpy replayed the events in her mind for the 4th time, she still couldnt figure out why Time was so sad.
Derpy couldnt stand seeing her husband like this, so despite telling herself she wouldnt say anything else, she put her hand on his shoulder and smiled at him. Time stared at her, tears still coming out of his eyes.
"I-I'm not sure what your crying about" Derpy started "B-But, whatever it is, w-we dont have to focus on it now~! We can just focus on the happy stuff~! Like..." Derpy rubbed her chin, trying to think of things that made Time happy. She smiled widely, and snapped her fingers, suddenly remembering the one thing that'd always make Time smile "Our baby~! Arent you still excited for when lil baby Ditzy comes~?" Derpy said, smiling widely and gently patting her stomach (Where she was pretty sure babies formed). Derpy had been in the 12th week of pregnancy, and ever since then Time had never been happier. The thought of having a child was beyond exciting for him, so much so that when one of their friends said the word "baby", no matter what the context of why they said it was, Time would start talking about their baby. Derpy was, of course, also very excited to have a child. They were both so excited, that they already had decided the name of the child even though Derpy was barely in her 12th week. It took a lot of thinking, but they eventually decided on naming the baby Ditzy, a fairly gender-neutral name. Time was so excited for the child, Derpy was sure this would cheer him up! But when Derpy realized the expression Time had on his face, she wished she just kept quiet. He looked even worse than he had before, his expression was a mix of horror, pity, and pure grief.
"Oh... Oh, Derpy..." he said, trying to fight back even more tears as he put a hand on Derpy's shoulder. He was about to say something else, but his tears got the best of him before he could get it out. Derpy slowly hugged him tightly, and despite not knowing why he was so upset, nearly started crying when Time desperately latched onto her, sobbing uncontrollably. Derpy continued to stare at the tan carpet, as Time hugged her tightly like she was the only happiness left in his life. Derpy desperately wanted to know what was making her husband cry, but she just didnt know what went wrong.
