Texas: A Time to Fight

The battleship USS Texas BB-35. The second oldest battleship still in existence, the oldest American battleship still in existence, the first US warship opened as a permanent museum ship, and the last Dreadnought-Era Battleship in existence. She escorted convoys in the Atlantic in WW1, bombarded the beaches of North Africa, the beaches of Normandy, and the beaches of Iwo Jima and Okinawa in WW2, before being retired in 1946, and was donated to the State of Texas to be used as a museum ship. She was much loved by the natives of the State for whom she'd been named, as well as the many visitors who came to see her from all over the US, and even around the world over the years, but by 2017, it was clear that the Texas was in trouble. Her hull was rusting and leaking, there was serious rust/weakening structures internally, and something had to be done, and done quickly. The ship had been taken to dry-dock in the 1980's for major repairs, and it was clear that this would have to be done again if feasible, and the ship would have to be moved to a place that would attract more tourists. Finally, in late 2020, everything was finalized, and Texas was towed away from her berth in San Jacinto, attached to special floats, and towed all the way to a shipyard in Alabama for intensive repairs/restoration. By 2022, the Texas was once again a proud ship in very good condition, however, her real adventure was only just beginning.

En-route back to Texas, where her new home in Galveston awaited, the USS Texas, a number of engineers, retired naval personnel, volunteers, and naval reservists, as well as 3 tugboats and their crews were suddenly enveloped in a storm, and unknown to them, were suddenly whisked away from their world. They awaken in a calm sea in what they believe to still be the Gulf of Mexico, but to their shock and surprise, somehow, someway, the ENTIRE ship had been fully restored to how she appeared in 1946! Her propellers and propeller shafts were in their proper places, her engines and boilers were ready to go, the ship had full electrical power, her radars, fire-control radars, and gun directors were working perfectly, the ship was fully stocked with food, fuel, and spare parts, her armor was at 100% integrity, and aside from a few small flecks, chips, and dents, the whole ship was in pristine condition, including her armament of 14in, 5in, 3in, and other AA guns! Wholly baffled by this turn of events, and their inability to contact anyone on the US Mainland, or US Navy or Coast Guard ships in the Gulf, the crew of the Texas decide to try and sail her Northwest with the tugs in tow towards what the believe is Texas, but in reality however, is not. The crew of the Texas are soon to find out that they're NOT on Earth anymore, and that their services as sailors with weapons of war may soon be needed.

What will happen when the Ponies come across the mighty USS Texas, and the 3 tugs? Will the ships and their crews be given a warm welcome, or will war erupt? Why was the Texas fully restored to how she appeared in 1946? Was it Magic, or was there another reason? And from across the Celestial Sea, a former Griffon Baron-turned-warlord rules over an island full of pirates and marauders from across Equus, planning major attacks against Equestria and her allies. What will happen when they learn of the USS Texas? Will they try to attack the ship, or will they try to capture her? How will this all go down? And what happens when some of the crew of the USS Texas start falling in love with some of the Ponies of Equestria? One heck of an adventure, that's for sure!

(Warning: This story is NOT for all users, and will contain: very detailed descriptions of US warships, the USS Texas, big guns, explosions, a storm, 3 tugboats, a bunch of confused engineers, retired US Navy personnel, and Navy reservists, as well as tugboat crews, violence, some language, romance, occasional nudity and sex, a big naval and air war, the USS Texas kicking ass with her big 14in guns, pirates, marauders, a Griffon warlord, (almost) failed negotiations, a hostage situation, ballsy strategies, and an unforgettable journey aboard one of only 6 remaining ships who served in both World Wars, and the only surviving battleship to do so. Not for the feint of heart, or those who don't like statistics-porn...............eh, lengthy descriptions of warships, and all of their attributes, but for all others, I REALLY hope that you enjoy this story!
