Spike, Although...
Spike, Except...
Previous ChapterNext ChapterSpike ran across (not literally, of course) Pinkie Pie the next day, the odd occasion he had to actually do chores for Twilight and leave Rarity to scheme away on her next plan for their day together. That was tomorrow, in fact, and Spike was lost in thought about Rarity's smile and his sensitive little butt, and therefore didn't notice Pinkie Pie, and bumped into her with enough force to knock him onto aforementioned bottom with a cute-sounding 'oof'.
Pinkie Pie beamed at Spike as she helped him up. Spike was all jitters and blush, noticing the sudden absence of the skirt he'd been wearing the last time they met, the same way he did whenever he went over to Rarity's now. Somehow, being naked was much more exposed than before.
"Hi, Spike!" Pinkie gave Spike a hug with her usual over-bounding enthusiasm, and a pat on the back for good measure, which made Spike's tail quiver, as it felt incredibly similar to Rarity's pats and strokes when they were out in town. "Are you excited for tomorrow night or what?"
Spike's confusion cut through his awkward nerves. He blinked once or twice, then tilted his head to the side.
"Tomorrow... night?"
Pinkie smiled and nodded rapidly at him.
"What are we doing tomorrow night?" Spike asked.
"Why, the same thing we do every night, Spike!" Pinkie Pie grabbed Spike with both hooves and pulled and smooshed his face until it looked like a green-and-purple pancake. "Try to take over the world?"
"Uh... Pinkie?" Spike murmured through his squished-out mouth.
"Narf!"
"Pinkie, my face hurts."
"Oops! Sorry about that."
Pinkie Pie let go and Spike's face snapped and curled up on itself like a rolled up piece of parchment. Pinkie Pie yanked it down, and after a quick 'pop', Spike's face returned to its normal shape, albeit with a bit of soreness in his neck, which Spike began to rub with a grudging expression.
Pinkie Pie shrugged her shoulders.
"What can I say. Comedy is unpredictable sometimes."
Spike still had no idea what she meant by 'tomorrow night', or if she was just joking about the whole thing. He decided asking questions would be counterproductive with Pinkie Pie involved.
"I've gotta go finish these chores," Spike said. He held up his list of daily errands as evidence, only two bright-red check-marks at the top indicating his modest progress.
Pinkie Pie just smiled and nodded.
"No problem-oh! I'll see you when I see you, Spikey!"
Hmm... usually only Rarity called him that.
Was it bad that he liked it just as much coming from Pinkie Pie?
He'd ask Rarity about that later.
