Chapters Rarity and the mayor's mix-up
The day was sunny, the weather was perfect, and the market was inviting. Rarity had been up since early in the morning buying all sorts of valuable fabrics and gems for a new fashion line she was working on. She had finished her shopping and put all of the materials into a medium sized black box. Her mind was occupied with revisions she might make to the dresses when Pinkie pie came bouncing along and greeted her. "Hey Rarity, watcha doin? Pinkie said in a cheerful voice. "Oh, hello Pinkie. I'm just going home to work on some dresses, what about you?" Rarity said in reply. "I have a delivery of muffins from Sugarcube Corner to Derpy." just then, she saw that Derpy had crashed into a mailbox while on her weekly mail route. "Sorry I have to cut the conversation short but iv'e gotta go." Pinkie said while starting to trot over to the dazed mail pony. "It's quite alright, in fact I'm in a hurry myself." Rarity said as she continued on her way to the boutique.
The once again preoccupied unicorn kept walking along until suddenly she crashed into another pony. when she came to her senses, she realized she had bumped into the mayor. "I'm so sorry, I didn't see you there!" exclaimed Rarity as she started to help her up. "Oh no,it's my fault deary." When she was knocked over, the mayor dropped a black box filled with confidential documents. "Sorry, I have no time to chit-chat, i need to get these papers to the vault and then I have a really important meeting to attend to in Manehattan." Both ponies got their boxes and rushed off. Rarity had finally made it back home and was mumbling about how late she was. she rushed into her designing room and had immediately started to open the box. What she found inside was not her fabrics and gems, but a bunch of papers. She then thought to herself "This can't be good."

Rarity started to realize that when she bumped into the mayor, they both grabbed the wrong boxes. Upon fully comprehending the situation, she dragged over her panic couch and immediately started to whine "Oh why did this have to happen to me? This the THE WORST POSSIBLE THING that could have happened." The complaining wen't on for a good 10 minutes until finally she started to tell herself "no, I must not panic. come on, think, THINK. The mayor said she was putting the papers in the vault and...and..." Rarity started studdering. "And the vault is off-limits to everypony except the mayor, and she's already gone to Manehattan."
Rarity sat in her room for an hour, sifting through different scenarios in her head until she finally found a solution to her problem. "I'm going to have to break into the vault!" she exclaimed. "But I'm not going to be able to do it alone, no. I'll need the help of some friends." The unicorn had made up her mind and then started writing some letters and sending them out.
The letters were addressed to: Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Colt (the OC).
meanwhile, at the library, Twilight was observing cloud formations through an over-sized telescope. Suddenly the scope blacked out. She reeled in the telescope to see what had happened, and she saw that a letter had appeared on the end.Utilizing her magic, she opened the envelope to find a letter signed by Rarity. At Sweet Apple Acre, Applejack was bucking apple trees as usual until she got to the final tree. When she bucked it, instead of apples falling into her cart, a strange envelope.
In an nearby tree, Rainbow Dash was having an afternoon snooze until she felt something land on her nose. She awoke to see a letter had appeared. At some mailbox in Ponyville, Pinkie was still trying to get Derpy unstuck. When she finally got her out, a letter adressed to Pinkie fell out of her mail bag. Fluttershy was tending to Angel and was going to get the feed bag. she started pouring out the food until a letter accompanied it. finally, at a house somewhere in Ponyville was Colt, a green Pegasus, male, and has a rainbow colored mane. (I'm going to make a different story that explains everything about him and how he met mane 6) Colt opened the letter and read it aloud. "Meet me at the town center tonight at 11:00. I will explain everything there. sincerely, Rarity.

6 hours had passed since the letters were sent out and Rarity was sitting impatiently at the fountain. It was pitch black outside and only the moon provided any form of illumination. suddenly the sound of trotting broke the eerie silence. Twilight and Applejack walked to the fountain "What is it that needs to be done in the middle of the night? Twilight asked with a yawn. "I will explain when everypony has arrived." Rarity hastily replied. soon the 3 were greeted by Fluttershy, Pinkie, and Rainbow. the 6 of them waited until finally they heard hoof-steps on a nearby roof, and then a shadowy figure flipped off of the rooftop and landed in front of the group. "sorry I took so long" the voice belonged to Colt.
"Alright, we're all here. Now would you care to explain what's going on?" Twilight inquired. Rarity started to explain
"The reason Iv'e brought you all here tonight is because when I was bumped into the mayor today we both took the wrong boxes. And to make a long story short, I need everypony's help to get into the Ponyville vault and get the items back." everypony was surprised. R.D. broke the silence "So you're saying we have to sneak into the vault?! Do you know what would happen if we get caught?" Colt joined conversation "Well I'm up for it, Iv'e got nothing better to do tonight."
"How are we even going to get in? The vault is the most secure place in Ponyville." Twilight asked, trying to keep calm.
Rarity replied "Don't worry, Iv'e devised a plan."

Rarity and the mayor's mix-up
"Everypony pay attention, this is very important." Rarity said while reaching into her saddle bag. She pulled out a large map that showed the layout of the vicinity of town hall. She spread the map out on the rim of the fountain and pointed to the roof of the building. "Rainbow, Fluttershy, and Colt will fly up to the roof, sneak in through the skylight, avoid the guard patrols, and unlock the back door. That's where me, Pinkie, Applejack, and Twilight will be waiting. The exact location of the vault is unknown, so we will all split up and search the building. You will all be given maps of guard patrol routes. The area with the most guards is probably where the vault is so we will search those areas first." Before Rarity could continue to explain, Applejack asked the question that everypony wanted the answer to. "How did ya'll even learn all this?" Rarity answered it with another question. "What do you think iv'e been doing for the past six hours?"
Rarity continued. "I have some suits and gear for everypony to use." At that moment, she opened her saddle bag and threw seven suits and seven small belts of gear. Everypony grabbed a suit and belt. The suits were black fatigues that covered a pony's entire body and had eye holes cut out and replaced with goggles. the flanks of the suits had the cutie marks of the group sewn on for identification purposes. The gear belts contained maps, lock-picks, glass cutters, and binoculars. "geez, are we taking down metal gear or something?" Colt asked sarcastically. Everypony looked at him and asked simultaneously "What's metal gear?" He looked away and said "Oh, it's um... nothing, nevermind."
"interruptions aside, we will all rendezvous in the main lobby at exactly 2:00 to report if we've found anything, that will give us 2 hours to search. By then we will have probably found it. once we enter the vault, we'll grab the box and then Rainbow, Fluttershy, and Colt will fly us out. Are there any objections?" Fluttershy started to mumble but like always, nopony heard her. "Alright everypony, let's go." Rarity said as she started to walk to town hall. They all put on their gear and got ready for the heist.

Rainbow dash and Colt started to fly towards the roof but remembered that they're forgetting something. "C'mon Fluttershy, we don't have time for this." Rainbow whispered towards the ground. There was no reply. "Iv'e got this." Colt said as he flew towards the ground. He picked up a large, out of place rock and set it down on the roof next to the skylight. The top of the rock lifted up like a cap to reveal that it was hollow and Fluttershy was hiding inside. "Fine" Fluttershy whispered as she flew out of the rock. Colt reached into his belt and pulled out a lock-pick and proceeded to work on the latch to the skylight. He unlocked it and slowly lifted the glass until it was fully open. "Alright, we're in." Colt slowly lowered himself into the main lobby and once he reached the floor, he motioned for the others to follow.
The three looked around the main lobby but there was nothing but desks and benches disguised in the darkness. Rainbow pulled out her map and laid it on a bench. "According to this, we need to head down the main hallway until we reach a split. We turn right and head for the info storage room, from there we'll be able to access the West wing." she said and then proceeded to fold and put away the map. They started to walk towards the entrance to the hallway but before the could even take one step into it, a light shined in their direction.
Colt had realized what the light was before the others even had time to react. "HIDE!" he quickly whispered. He ran out of the hallway and flattened out against a wall. He looked at Rainbow Dash and fluttershy with worried eyes as the guard reached the lobby. The two ran and hid on one side of a bookcase. The guard shone the flashlight around, walked to a door labeled "East wing" and shut the door behind him. "That was too close." Colt whispered.
The three ponies left their hiding spots and started to walk down the hall. "Before we continue, let's take a look at the guard patrol route map." suggested Colt, still slightly shaking from earlier. Fluttershy and R.D. nodded in agreement. Colt pulled out the map and flattened it on a wall. "Apparently this hallway is checked once every 5 minutes. The path to the info storage is checked every 3 minutes." "How long has it been since that guard walked through here?" Fluttershy asked. "2 minutes." Colt replied. "Then we better hurry." Rainbow added.

The trio started walking faster, until they reached the end of the hall. "Info storage is to the right." R.D. whispered. They turned to the right, revealing yet another large hallway. "We're running out of time." Colt whispered as he started to run forward. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash remembered the 5 minute time constraint and started running as well. Just as they reached the middle of the second hall, they heard the familiar noise of a door open and a light turning on. "RUN, WE"LL REGROUP LATER!" Colt nearly yelled. The three split up and ran into different doors.
Meanwhile at the South end of the building, Rarity, Pinkie Pie, Applejack, and Twilight we're impatiently waiting. "Where are those three?" Rarity asked. "Something might have happened. Don't worry, they'll be here soon." Twilight replied. "They better be, ah can't wait here all night." Applejack added.
Back in the north wing, the trio were scrambling around in separate rooms, each of which had a guard patrolling them. R.D. ran into a room that had many chairs positioned around the walls. she looked behind her and saw a plaque beside the door that said "waiting room" she took a moment to catch her breathe but before she could, a guard walked in and she immediately flew up and perched on the rafters just as the guard shined the light at her. "phew" she said to herself as she watched the guard walk away.
Fluttershy stumbled into a room with a large oval-shaped tabled and chairs lining the rim of it. a sign on the edge of the table marked it as the conference room. She heard hoofsteps near the door and dove beneath the table. Fluttershy laid there trembling, she tried not to make any noise as a guard casually walked through the room and left as quickly as he entered.
Colt burst into a room with a bunch of stalls and urinals. "You've got to be freakin kidding me." he thought to himself as he hid in the stall at the end of the room. the lights flickered on and he heard stall doors opening, a guard was checking every stall. Just as the guard reached the last stall, Colt heard a stall door close. After that, there was the noise of a zipper, and then the sound of water dripping into water. He stood there with a straight face as the toilet in the stall beside him flushed, the lights turn off, and the guard walked out.

Hello readers, that was chapter 2, I hope you enjoyed it as much as i did writing (because I had the Metal Gear Solid 2 theme playing as I typed) Yes that was a MGS reference in the beginning because all Iv'e been playing is the MGS HD collection for the past week. Anyways, I know I said chapter 2 would be the last one but I didn't exactly know how this would turn out but now Iv'e decided that there will probably be 4 chapters, maybe 5. If you see any typos or any revisions you think would make the story better then type them in the comments and I will fix it. Chapter 3 will be out probably 2 to 3 days after this one is approved. Last time on Metal Gear Friendship, um... I mean Rarity and the mayor's mix-up: The Pegasus squad manages to break into the building and were able to sneak through security (mostly) but are now split up. Will they be able to regroup? Will they even succeed in their mission? Will I ever stop asking questions? Find out in this next installment of Rarity and the mayor's mix-up.

"They're going to be back soon, I've gotta hurry." Rainbow dash thought to herself, still perched in the rafters. She looked around for an escape route. "Aha, the door." She tried to open it, but it was locked. She continued searching for an escape, but to no success. "No, no no no, this can't be happening. I can't be trapped." The sound of a door unlocking and opening echoed through the room as R.D. started frantically searching for an exit. In no time at all, the guard had entered the room and was turning on his flashlight. Rainbow flew up and looked around, lucky for her, the guard had to change the batteries, so she had a few extra seconds. Finally she found a hole in the ceiling that had rotted out. Wasting no time at all, she climbed into it and ran through the small space in the ceiling. She found another rotted spot but only small bits had fallen out. She looked through the holes and saw a door labeled "Information storage" "YES!" she thought to herself and waited there for the other two.
Fluttershy was still cowering beneath the table since the guard walked by, then she decided it was time to make a move. She crawled from under the table and slowly walked to the door. It was unlocked and the other end led her to the hallway the three were previously in before they got split up. She looked around and saw at the end of the hallway was the entrance to the info storage room. She ran to the door but didn't find Colt or R.D. she looked around in case they were hiding until she heard a familiar voice. "Psst, Fluttershy. Up here." She looked to the ceiling and saw Rainbow through the holes. "How did you get up there?" she asked. "Long story." Rainbow replied.
While they were having a conversation, Colt was trying to get to the info storage entrance. He took a quick look around and saw an entrance to a vent. He used the blade of his glass cutter to unscrew the bolts, and then proceeded through the vent. He crawled through, taking random turns to try to find where an exit was. Eventually, he felt something shift beneath him, and before he knew it, Colt was falling to the ground. He hit the floor with a thud and it was accompanied by a yelp. He brought himself up and to his surprise, he landed on Fluttershy's tail. "What happened?" He asked, scrambling to get up. He looked up and saw a hole in the vent. "Did I seriously break through that?" He asked rhetorically. "Yep." R.D. replied "What the?" He said, looking around for the source of the voice. "Well, since everypony is here, I guess i can show myself." Rainbow said, followed by a silence.
Suddenly, Rainbow bucked through the rotted out ceiling and landed on the ground. Colt and Fluttershy were coughing from the debris. "Oh, um... sorry." Rainbow said sheepishly. She turned the handle to the door and opened it slowly. She peeked her head inside and saw rows and rows of filing cabinets. "We've wasted enough time, let's get going. Colt said while entering the room. He stopped but the kept walking. "Stay back." He whispered. Rainbow and Fluttershy looked at him with a confused look. "Listen." They stood still and could clearly hear hoofsteps. "Sounds like at least eight, We're going to need to think of something if we're going to want to get past them."
"The entrance to the South wing is on the other side of the room. We can't stay grouped or we'll easily be spotted. Rainbow, you take the the left route. Fluttershy, you take the right route, and I will go topside. We regroup at the door. Got it?" Rainbow and Fluttershy nodded. "Good. Lets go." The trio parted ways, again.
Colt flew upwards onto one of the filing cabinet rows. He started leaping from row to row as silently as he could. Once he got about a third of the way to the door, he stepped on the next cabinet and it let out a loud SCREEEECH. The nearby guards heard this and rushed to the sound. "Just my luck." he said as he clung to the edge of the cabinet, desperately trying to get back up.
Just as the guards were turning the corner, there was a loud banging noise which drew them away before they spotted Colt. He was able to fly back up while the guards were distracted. "What was that?" he thought to himself. "It doesn't matter, there's no time.". He continued on his path on top of the rows of cabinets. Once he made it halfway to the door, he made an abrupt stop. There was a large gap between the section of cabinets he was on and the next section. "No way I'll be able able to fly across that without being noticed." He whispered to himself. He then searched for another route but none were in site until he looked straight down. There was a walkway and accounting desks every 20 meters. "If you can't go over, go through." and with that, he lept from the cabinets and spread his wings to slow his descent.
Once on the ground, He started crawling to a desk. After a few minutes, he made it. Colt looked around while crawling under the desk and bumped into it. A lamp fell and plummeted towards the ground. He caught it just in time. "Phew, too close." he thought while placing the lamp back on the desk. A guard turned the corner and was patrolling the walkway. Colt sat motionless beneath the desk, hoping not to be discovered. The guard passed by, but Colt was hiding under the last desk on the walkway, which meant that the guard would turn around any second. He dove from beneath the desk and ran with the lightest steps he could take.
Colt reached the start of the next set of rows of filings cabinets, almost tripping on himself. he flew onto a row and landed with a metallic clank. He lied down for a breath, not even caring about the noise he made. "Ugh, I hope this turns out all right." He thought to himself. After a few moments of rest, Colt got up and continued on his way. Now fully focused on the objective, the Pegasus was heading straight for the door without pause. Once he reached the end of the room, he saw the door in the corner but it was to far to jump to and beneath him was two guards. He slid down the back of the cabinet he was on and walked around the corner. When the time was right, he ran for the door and hid behind the desk just as the the guards looked in his direction. "OW!" someone whispered, and when he looked down, he saw that he landed on the tail of R.D.
Nine minutes earlier, at the entrance of the room. "Rainbow, you take the left route. Fluttershy, you take the right route, and I will go topside.We regroup at the door. Got it?" Rainbow and Fluttershy nodded. "Good, lets go." The trio parted ways again. Rainbow dash started walking to the left. Surprisingly enough, she didn't run into any guards. Once she reached the one fourth point in the room, There was a large SCREEEEEECH. She peeked her head around the corner of a cabinet and saw Colt hanging from the side of a cabinet. She knew the guards would be on him in a matter of seconds. Without thinking, R.D. bucked the cabinet beside her and ran as fast as she could for the door.She didn't care how many guards saw her, all she focused on was running. Rainbow made it to the door and jumped behind the desk.
Nine minutes earlier, (You get the idea of what's going on) Fluttershy took the right route. She walked slowly, following the wall, completely unaware that she walked exactly when the guards turned, talk about luck. She walked until there was a loud SCREEEEECH and then an even louder BANG! Fluttershy started walking faster until she reached the end of the room. She turned the corner to find two guards asleep on the the job. She walked past them to the door and slowly started opening it.
Colt and Rainbow Dash popped up from behind the desk. "Ok, we're all here. We can go." Colt said as he pushed the door open. "If I remember correctly, the back door should should be just through here." He said as he stopped in front of a door. They walked inside and found a large metal door with a keypad beside it. "How the heck are we going to get through this, we don't know the the code, do we?" Rainbow asked. "I know a way." Colt replied while pulling out his glass cutters.
Colt used the glass cutters to unscrew the top of the keypad. He cut some wires and put the cover back on. He pressed enter and the door opened. The trio was greeted by the Applejack, Twilight, Pinkie, and Rarity. "It's about time, Rarity said as she entered. "Now the true mission can begin."

Rarity and the mayor's mix-up
Last time on Rarity and the mayor's mix-up: Colt, Rainbow Dash, and Fluttershy regrouped at the entrance of the information storage room, but only to be split up again as they traversed the long and winding rows of filing cabinets. With way to many close calls and not enough references, they managed to reach the the south wing. The trio were able to rendezvous with the rest of the team and now the true heist begins. enjoy!
-----------------------------------------------------------Chapter 4 part 1: Searching----------------------------------------------------------------
"So, where do we begin?" Colt asked, breaking the short respite from the mission. "First, we plan out a search pattern." Rarity replied. She pulled out the layout map and the guard patrol map. "According to this, the most heavily patrolled area is the North end of the East wing. Me and Fluttershy will search there. The second heaviest patrolled area is the East side of the South wing, the one we're in. Twilight and Pinkie will search there. The third heaviest patrolled area is West side of the West wing. Rainbow and A.J. will search there. Colt, you will search the entirety of the North wing and any other lightly patrolled areas."
"Meet back here in 1 hour to report your findings. Now let's go, were running out of time." She added. The group started pairing up and going to their assigned location, except for Colt. He stayed behind until everypony was gone. He flew to the ceiling and unscrewed a vent cover, Then he proceeded to crawl through to the North wing. After a few boring minutes of travelling through the vents, he finally made it back to the main lobby. Colt dropped the vent cover to the floor and landed on it with a CLANG. "Time to get to work." He thought to himself as he started pulling books from shelves and turning over portraits.
Rarity and Fluttershy were having a tough time even getting to their area. They had just started down the hallway towards the East wing entrance when they ran into three guards having a chat. The guards were standing right in the middle of the hall. "You've got to be kidding me, this place needs to hire better employees!" Rarity whispered
"I'll handle this." Rarity said as she utilized her magic to fling a window of it's hinges. The guards ran to investigate, letting Rarity and Fluttershy slip past unnoticed. They walked a few turns more to reveal the door to the East wing. "Here goes nothing." Rarity said as they both entered the East wing. The door opened to reveal (you guessed it!) more hallways. "If I remember correctly, if we go through the break room, we can access the North end." Rarity explained as she glanced around for the entrance.
"Wouldn't it be easier to um... go through the hallways?" Fluttershy whispered. "Considering that there's about 30 guards patrolling the halls non-stop, not really." Rarity replied. The two entered the break room and were shocked when they found out almost all of the guards were hanging out there, watching TV and chatting. "How the hay are we supposed to get past them!?" Rarity asked sarcastically.
"Well, there's no other way so I guess we have to sneak past, great." Rarity said with an aggravated look on her face. "Um, how will we sneak past this many guards?" Fluttershy whispered. "To tell you the truth, I don't know." Rarity replied. The two stood near the doorway, scouting out the room and devising a plan until Rarity whispered "Follow my lead." She crept into the room and moved as silently as she could towards the mini-fridge, Fluttershy following closely behind.
The guards were hanging out, talking, watching the staff TV, ETC. and were completely oblivious to the two ponies sneaking through. Rarity and Fluttershy had made to the mini-fridge just as a guard came by to get something out. Rarity dove behind the mini-fridge and pulled Fluttershy beside her. They sat there for a few moments until the guard left to join back with the others. Rarity peeked her head out to scope the area again. Just as she did, the door at the other side of the room opened and a stallion who was wearing a different colored uniform then the others, walked in. "C'mon guys, back to work." He said while exiting. All the guards started walking out mumbling things like "Why does the captain always have to cut the breaks short?".
Once the room was completely clear, Rarity and Fluttershy walked out from behind the mini-fridge. "Well, that was convenient." Rarity whispered as she walked towards the door. "But if the guards just left, doesn't that mean there will be more patrolling the halls?" Fluttershy asked. Rarity sighed "You're right."
Meanwhile, in the West wing. Rainbow Dash and Applejack were actually having a pretty easy time getting to their location. "There doesn't seem to be many guards walking 'round here." Applejack said. "They might still be distracted from earlier." Rainbow replied "What happened earlier?" A.J. asked. "Long story." R.D. hastily replied again. They continued through the halls until they got back to the information storage room.
R.D opened the door to reveal that nopony was there. "That's strange, I know there was some commotion but I didn't think they would just leave." Rainbow said. "Well ah guess that just makes it easier for us." A.J whispered. They both were soon rummaging through file cabinets and desks for any hidden secrets that might reveal the location to the vault. After ten minutes of searching, they found nothing but useless documents and reports.
"Found anything yet?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Nope." Applejack replied. "There has to be SOMETHING, just keep searching." Rainbow whispered. They continued to open cabinets, check desks, and even tapping on walls but still turned up empty hoofed. "Wait a minute." Applejack whispered as she pulled out the patrol routes map. "What is it?" Rainbow asked. "The guards don't just heavily patrol this room, but also the rooms 'round it." She pointed her hoof at their general area. "Ah'll check these rooms, you check those." Rainbow nodded her head and they both split up.
Meanwhile, in the South wing. Twilight was being as sneaky as she could while Pinkie was bouncing around right behind her. They went in the direction that Rarity and Fluttershy set off in. They soon came across a group of guards clogging the hallway and a window pane on the floor.
"We're not going to be able to get through here." Twilight whispered. "How about over there?" Pinkie said as she pointed to an open door in the hall. "Shhhh, keep your voice down!" Twi whispered back as she looked towards the door. "Oh, that was easy."
They entered the next room and Twi pulled out a map. "According to this, we're now in the east side of the South wing. I guess we can start searching for any hidden entrances or"-"FOUND SOMETHING!" Pinkie interrupted Twilight as she motioned for her to see her discovery. Pinkie was pointing to a button that was hidden behind some books on a shelf. Twilight pushed the button and waited. Nothing happened. "Maybe there's others. Just keep searching." Pinkie and Twilight continued pulling books and opening drawers.

Back in the West wing, Rainbow Dash and Applejack were still searching. "Found anything?" Rainbow asked. "Nope." Applejack replied. "This is pointless, we haven't found anything." R.D. whispered in a bored tone. She looked at Applejack and noticed she was squinting at something. "What do you see?" she asked. "All the other cabinets have labels, except for that one, and Ah don't think a place this organized would put off replacin' a label." AJ answered.
Rainbow and Applejack quickly walked over to the unlabeled drawer. Rainbow clenched the handle between her teeth, but the drawer wouldn't budge. "It's jammed!" She said with a muffled voice. R.D. let go of the handle and turned to Applejack. "Can you go on the other side and see what's blocking it.?" R.D. asked. Applejack sighed and walked around the row. After she disappeared around the corner, there was a few moments of silence and then CLANG! The drawer flew out of the cabinet and Rainbow barely dodged it. "Are you trying to kill me or something?!" she asked glancing through the empty space where the drawer was. "Look." Applejack replied.
She pointed to a button on the frame of the cabinet. "So that's what was jamming it." Rainbow whispered as she pushed the button. Just like the button in the south wing, nothing happened. "Did that do anythin'?" Applejack asked. "I dunno, look around." R.D. replied. They started searching around the room to check if pressing the button did anything.
Back in the East wing, Rarity and Fluttershy were going room to room avoiding guards while giving them a brief search. Once they made it to the Fifth room they were going to check, the two were surprised to find that when one guard left, another immediately walked in to patrol.
"If they're coming in this frequently then there must be something hidden." Rarity whispered. Fluttershy simply nodded her head in agreement. Rarity waited for the guard to get near the end of his patrol route and quickly ran past him. She waited for him to leave and then locked both doors. She then motioned for Fluttershy to come in. With no hesitation, Rarity started searching everywhere for anything that might have shown the location of the vault.
In no time at all, a guard was knocking on the door, asking for somepony to unlock it. While searching, Fluttershy accidentally knocked over a vase and Under it was a button. Fluttershy stepped on it without even noticing and ran for the door. The guard in the hallway was getting very impatient and started to force the door open. "Come on, we'll search somewhere else but we have to go now." Fluttershy whispered. Rarity understood the situation and ran for the door as well. They both made it out just as the guard came in. Both ponies returned to the Break room to catch their breath and revise their search plan.
In the North wing, Colt was still searching but still came up with nothing, until he heard a click. It caught his attention and he immediately was looking for the source. After a minute of looking, there was another click, and another. Finally, he located where they were coming from. Colt started poking at spots on the floor and stopped when he heard a slightly different sound than the other spots he tapped. He reached into his gear bag and pulled out a lock-pick. Utilizing the edge, he pried open a hidden floor panel to reveal...

Rarity and the mayor's mix-up
Last time on Rarity and the Mayor's mix-up, The group split up to search Town Hall for anything that could reveal the location of the vault. They discovered hidden buttons that appeared to do nothing but after they are pushed, Colt finds something very interesting. What was it? Where's the vault? Will they even find it? All will be revealed in the final chapter of this story.
---------------------------------------------------------Chapter 5 part 1: Stealth Mission-------------------------------------------------------------
Colt flipped open the panel and was surprised when he saw what was there. "I've gotta tell the others." He thought to himself. He closed the panel, flew back into the vent, and sealed the cover. "I've gotta get Pinkie and Twi first." he started heading for the South wing. Colt was about halfway to the South wing when his sleeve got caught on a screw. "You've got to be kidding me." He thought. He tugged on his sleeve, trying to loosen it but it was no use. "Oh come on." he continued trying but stopped when he overheard a conversation.
Two guards were chatting in a room beneath him. "Did you hear what Dave said earlier?" one guard asked. "No, I haven't seen him since lunch break." the other answered. "He said that when he was patrolling part of the South wing, he heard some noises coming from one of the rooms." the first replied. "Yeah, so?" the second asked skeptically. "So, nopony else was on duty there and Dave's shift was over so he couldn't check it out. I don't know about you but I'm gonna go and see what's going on. I might even get a commendation from the captain." the first bragged. "Keep dreaming." the second said as he walked away.
Colt started thinking about what they said. "Pinkie and Twi are in the South wing, I've gotta hurry." Colt pulled out his glass cutters and cut off the part of his sleeve that was caught. He started crawling as fast as he could through the vent. Once Colt got to the South wing, He saw the guard from earlier getting ready to open the door to where Pinkie Pie and Twilight were.
The guard was at the door and already turning the handle when Colt unscrewed the vent cover and it landed on his head. The door slowly swung open and the two ponies inside were staring at the doorway. Twi slowly walked over to the unconscious guard. Before she could get a good look at him, Colt landed on the floor beside her. "Sorry about that." Colt whispered as he regained his balance.
"Why are you here?" Twilight inquired. "Not much time to explain, I need you and Pinkie to meet me in the North wing." Colt replied. Before Twilight or Pinkie could say anything else, Colt already picked up the unconscious guard and was walking towards the Info storage room.
Colt slipped past the few guards that patrolled the route to the East wing and had made it to the entrance in only a few minutes. He walked into the Info storage room and hid the unconscious guard behind the desk near the door. Colt walked through the rows of cabinets looking for Applejack and Rainbow dash. He suddenly stopped and looked around. "Ah don't think anythin' else is here." He recognized the voice and tried to find where it came from.
He turned a corner and saw Rainbow and Applejack talking to each other. "Sup." He said as he walked over to them. R.D. turned around "Oh, hey. Aren't you supposed to be in the North wing?" She asked. "I can't explain right now but I need you two to meet me in the North wing." Colt said as he ran towards the door.
Once he got into the halls, he slowed down. He reached into his gear bag and pulled out the map of the building. After a quick glance, he walked through the halls being as silent as he could. After a little while, he made it to the entrance of the East wing, but there was a group of guards in front of it. Colt leaned around the corner and watched them argue. "How the hay am I supposed to know where Ty is?" Colt remembered the two guards from earlier. "Because you were the last one with him!" Another high ranking pony was arguing with the recruit.
Colt knew he wouldn't be able to get past them without getting noticed, but they were blocking the only way into the East wing. He thought back to when him, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash, first entered through the skylight. "When the guard left, he went through a door labeled...East wing!" Colt rushed back to where he first entered. Once he got there, he stopped. Colt looked at the clock above one of the desk, 1:40, only twenty minutes left.

Colt found the door labeled "East wing" and quickly entered. He started going from room to room looking for Fluttershy and Rarity. It took longer than Colt anticipated to get through each room because it seemed that no matter where he went, there were guards everywhere. After a while, he found the room he was looking for. Colt entered and saw Rarity and Fluttershy whispering to each other. "Sorry to interrupt but we have to get to the North wing now." Colt said as he headed back for the door. "Wait a..." Rarity started but Colt was already in the halls.
When Colt got back to the main lobby, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie pie, and Twilight were waiting there for him. When Fluttershy and Rarity finally got there, Colt started explaining. "Alright, I need you all to see this." He crouched down and pulled up a panel on the floor. Hidden beneath was a button with an iron bar covering it. Colt stood up and walked over to a painting and he took it off the wall. Behind it was another button. Colt pressed it and the iron bar retracted.
He hung the painting back up and walked back to the floor panel. "Watch this." Colt said as he stepped on the button. There was a faint click noise and then a few floorboards lifted up to reveal a passage. "Follow me." Colt said as he walked down the stairs. At the bottom of the stairs was large steel door with a keypad next to it. "So this is the vault?" Rainbow asked. "Seems like it." Rarity replied. "Now the question is, how do we get in?" Twilight added.
"I think I can open it." Colt said as he walked over to the keypad. "But how?" Fluttershy asked. "Simple, try random codes until it opens." Colt replied. Everypony sighed at once. After the "denied" noise played for the hundredth time, Colt exclaimed "I've got it!" and everypony walked over to the door. Colt typed a few more numbers and hit enter. The huge steel door slowly swung open and inside was the vault room. They all walked inside, amazed at how all of it was able to have been kept secret.
"How did you figure out the code?" Rarity asked as she turned towards Colt. "Oh, it was just the date ponyville was founded." he replied. "Let's just get the box and get out of here." R.D. interrupted. The group started looking around for the black box that they have searched for all night. "Got it!" Pinkie said as she lifted up the box. "That was fast." Twilight said. "Alright, let's go." Colt added. Everypony started walking towards the door and up the stairs. Colt stayed behind to close the door and re-lock it.
Once he made it to the top of the stairs and regrouped with the others, he closed the entrance. Suddenly there was the noise of many hoof steps at once. "What's that noise?" Twilight inquired. "Oh no, sounds like every guard in the building is coming here. We have to move, and fast." Colt replied as he searched for a way out. "How did they find out we were here?" Rarity asked. "I don't know but I need everypony to help me find a way out!" Colt's tone grew very serious.
"What about the skylight?" Rainbow asked. Without a word, Colt flew out of the skylight and onto the roof. A few moments later he sent down the emergency ladder and looked over the edge "C,mon!". Everypony climbed up the ladder to the roof. Colt pulled the ladder back up and closed the skylight. "This way." Colt said as he jumped off the roof. Everypony ran to the edge and saw him safely on the ground and motioning the others to follow.
They all jumped simultaneousely and landed safely. The group ran back to the fountain in the center of town. Once they got there, everypony stopped to take a breather. After the few minutes of rest, Rarity spoke up "I have to thank all of you for your help in the success of this misson.". Everypony celebrated and within a few minutes, they parted ways for the night.
