The Darker Side
Spike
Previous ChapterNext ChapterEverybody has a darker side, even the most helpful of people have one...
Spike sat in front of a mirror his scales were straight, and he was little, for he was a baby dragon. But in his reflection sat a greedy monster sitting on top a pile of random items. "Why am I out here?" Spike asked the reflection. The reflection stared at him hungrily.
"I don't know. Personally I thought you would not ever come back out." The reflections voice was deep and snarled at everything. It was slightly frightening.
"Why do I feel so... greedy?" Spike asked the monster.
"Let me explain. I am a dragon, it is in my nature to take, and not give, you on the other hand, are an honorary pony, raised in the way that ponies would be raised. But neither of us can feel happiness unless we have physical items, loveis great and so is friendship, but we need material items, it's just part of who we are, but to get these items we have two choices. Buy them, or take them, I care not of the way I obtain them." The creature said. Spike was shocked, that this creature would do such a thing as steal. "When I do take something I put it in the box in the closet marked Spike's do not touch."
"But why?" Spike screamed at his reflection.
"Because we must..." All of a sudden there was nothing other than Spike and the box of thingshe has been hording. He took a step towards it, and began to fall.
"Ouch" Spike rubbed his head as he got up from the floor, he had rolled right off the little makeshift bed. He looked at Twilights bed and saw that she was still asleep. Spike looked at the closet, and back to Twilight. Making sure she was still asleep, he went over to the closet and opened the door. He looked behind a couple of dresses from Twilight's childhood, and there it was, the box. he opened it slowly and pulled out four items, a rubber ball, a hat, a stuffed cat, and a picture frame. He pulled the items close to himself, and felt content for the smallest amount of time. He put the items back and jumped in the box himself, he buried himself in the items, feeling happy and not so exposed, he had things that some people didn't, and he was content. If only for the moment. He put the item he was holding behind one of his scales in the pile, a small sock. He felt safe. A series of thoughts ranthrough his head, but only one main thought was loud enough to listen to.
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
Spike felt purely and utterly safe in his small pile of useless items. He wasn't exposed to anybody. Nobody could touch him while he was in his pile of items, of friends. They couldn't harm him in any way, and they always provided shelter. His eyes had that of pure content, it was real, not hiding what he truly felt, so exposed when out in the open, but the shelter breached slightly, letting in some light, and the feeling of safety slowly drifted away, but one thing was still for sure.
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
He felt safe
The safety finally left, as the hole in his pile widened he was exposed, he could be seen, the safety of being hidden had disappeared. No more was the content feeling in his heart, it was gone, all of it was gone. Nothing felt right, being out in the open. But one thing was certain.
He felt exposed...
NOTE- Yah, hoarding, it's a massive problem across America, and Equestria. Not much more to say on this one, well I'm done writing for the time being, maybe I'll put more in later today, if not tomorrow.
