//-------------------------------------------------------// What's the game? -by Song Shard- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Games, Gaems, and Gmaes: A Prologue to Disaster //-------------------------------------------------------// Games, Gaems, and Gmaes: A Prologue to Disaster "Grimace! Hey, Grimace," a kirin calls out quietly in the middle of the night. "Wake up!" Silence ensues the hushed yelling. Silence still remains dominant. Silence claims the la-"Could you stop that?" Silence is broken whe-"You did it again!" ... Si-"Nope!" ... When the kirin yells into the void that is silence. "Wha-wh-bu... AHHHHH!!" A window opens on the side of the house directly parallel to the kirin, revealing a very tired and grumpy earth pony wearing a blue and white striped nightcap. "WILL YOU SHUT UP PLEASE?! SOME OF US ARE TRYING TO SLEEP!" Turning to face the earth pony, the kirin revealed a smile that shines as bright as the moon above. "But Grimace... the game just came out! You have to try it! It is so much fun!" The kirin levitates a game in front of the grumpy pony. ... "Well?" Smile widening. "Go to bed!" The window frame slams closed and its curtains are pulled in across, separating the kirin from the sleeping pony inside. Grumbling could be heard from inside and a soft squeak as the pony returns to the bed. Still smiling and facing the window, the kirin walks back into the shadow of a tree nearby unprepared for the occurrence about to happen. "What do you mean? What's about to hap-Oof!" The rump of the kirin collides with the tree, producing an ominous creaking sound that probably should not have been heard. "Alright, laugh it up. Be warned, I will come for you." The threat retreats and is heard by none as it drifts off into the night, rep-"Don't."-laced by silence. "AHHHHHHH!" ... Creak "Oh leaf me alone." Timeskip brought to you by silen-"Will you stop that?" ...h-how are you able to get in here? This is a Timeskip, characters should not be able to do anything except return when it is over. "They don't call me Fourth Wall for nothing." No one calls you Fourth Wall. "Err, I guess, but anyways this time skip is not brought by silence but by this song. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSOrXCi3EJ4)" The kirin now stands beside an open window smile brighter than the stars twinkling in the night sky. Each individual tooth sparkling in their own way shaping and moulding galaxies passively. Not even a stray piece of vegetable can create harm to pristine pearls that are the teeth. Even a fly would faint at the pure brilliance of them. The tooth fairy would be too depressed to see the teeth part from one another, causing her to never pick them up from below the pillow. Every grain of sand on every beach would never be able to compete with the softness that is the smile the teeth form. Not even-"Will you shut it now? I get it you are upset at me barging into the Timeskip." Hmph. "Stop being a child." Fine. Anyways, apart from the rude kirin that interrupts the narrator, "Hey!" the changeling watching the kirin's attempts to communicate with some ghost has brought it to the ground laughing hysterically. "Wait, what? Wait. Gling! No! Stop!" The changeling pauses for a second, glances up at the kirin and snorts before boisterously laughing again. "I told you about this before!" A not so brief laugh later, the changeling stops laughing and gets up off the ground, willing to converse with the exasperated kirin. "You know... it's still as funny as ever, whenever you say things without moving your mouth to no one in particular." The kirin sighs heavily. "I still can't believe that whenever I talk like that my mouth does not move, but my thoughts are heard. Anyways, I just went and bought the game that came out today! It is lots of fun!" The changeling somehow an eyebrow. "Have you played it?" "Nope!" "Are you sure?" "Eeyup!" "But it is fun?" "Uh-huh." "You just bought it?" Vigorous head nod. "But you have not played it." "Nope!" "THEN HOW CAN YOU SAY IT IS FUN WITHOUT PLAYING IT?" The opened mouth of the kirin produces no sound as no rebuttal comes forth. "See. I keep telling you to play the game before you say whether it is good." The kirin seems to deflate. "I also told you, you should be trying demos before buying the games." Finally finding a way to regain some composure the kirin shoots quickly. "But it is the next game in the series that I really love!" Deadpanning, the changeling answers in a neutral tone. "You must be kidding, not every sequel will be as good as the previous. Same goes for books." Dropping their gaze to the ground, the kirin walks away sadly. Only to be picked up by the statement that the changeling calls out after. "Tell me how it goes! Let's meet up tomorrow at the clubhouse!" Not too long after the kirin is out of sight, the changeling returns to the bed that they were pulled out of by their kirin friend, giggling at the state that they left in. "Yeah, that game is sucky. Hopefully, Grimace will not be pulled into buying that waste of a game." Timeskip brought to you by a kirin buying a bad game that is only a waste of bits and time. Huh. No rebuttal. Must be playing that awful game. The next morning at the clubhouse... The clubhouse of the three friends stood in a clearing about a 10-minute walk through the local forest. It is not in poor condition but it can also not be considered in good condition. A couple of the shutters are hanging on by one hinge, some of the glass windows are broken. However, the wood that creates the walls and roof are in pristine condition. The walls are also coated in a warm and homely yellow paint accented by the red-brown roof tiles. Inside, a lime green and purple changeling sits reading a moderate-sized book. Every now and then a page would be flipped with a violet aura revealing the contents of the pages to the reading changeling. A small gust of wind may enter through one of the broken windows, refreshing the air inside the stuffy building, allowing for a clear mind to be had. Birds may sing in the forest, allowing their songs to be carried through the air and between the trees, setting a nice and calm atmosphere. The door to the clubhouse swings open with a creak, not a creak that requires fixing, but a creak that you would hear on a well-used door. The pony that entered, is an ash gray with a mane bordering the colour silver and light gray. He has a tired expression and a cold demeanour, fitting for what he is called. "Heyo Grimace, I'm guessing you got woken up in the middle of your beauty sleep right?" A few impractical swears and grumbles later, Grimace raises his head to bore a hole through the happy changeling. "Do you really have to continue saying my name that way Bling Pheromone? My name is Grim Ace, not Grimace." "Grim Ace, Grimace. Same difference. Also what is with your formal salutations? Bling Pheromone? Not Gling or Phling?" Placing the book down Gling walks over to a table and sits down on a stool beside it. "Come come. Let's play some Harmony: The Assembly." Grimace reluctantly walks over and sits down pulling his deck out to begin setting up. "You think the game is going to take all day as well?" "Oh most definitely, if we consider the games bought in the past, this one will for sure take a while, perhaps even through to tomorrow." As time flew by, the pair of them got more and more worried about their kirin friend. As hours flew by and the two eventually became restless. Only one thing could quell their disturbance and both n]knew exactly what. Without a word, they packed up the game they were playing and walked in the direction of a certain kirin's residence. Once they arrived, they knocked on their friend's window, completely bypassing the front and back door, opting or the most direct and lazy route. A few knocks later their friend finally came over and opened the window, as well as tasting the stale afternoon air. Now in the sunlight, the earth pony and changeling see their aqua and turquoise colour schemed kirin friend, golden scales flickering light around haphazardly. "Yo." Gling deadpans. "That is all you have to say? Yo?" "Uhm, yeah." "Nothing about the game... or apologies for not showing up at the clubhouse?" "Not yet done the game and I'm sorry?" Grimace lets out a sigh for all the trouble he has been up through. "You better finish the game by tomorrow, the clubhouse is boring without all three of us there." He turns around and leaves. They stare after him until he turns down a street and out of view before Gling turns to the kirin. "What he said, hurry up, I am kinda curious now since you won't leave until you finish the game." "You know me Gling, gotta finish a game before I make a review." The kirin smiles brightly despite the lack of stars. "Well, I best be going back in now so I can finish it." "Toodaloo then!" "Catch ya later alligator!" "In a while crocodile!" "Do not stray until the next day!" "Rathe 'til then, my good old' friend!" Their calls continued until they were out of sight, allowing for the two to relax and no longer need to rhyme because that was the zebra's job. Oh look, another Timeskip! "Buzz off, I am busy 100%ing this." That is not a verb. "Yes, it is." No, it isn't. ... Oh, I won. Strange. The next day at the clubhouse... I feel like the narrator from Mystery Dungeon... The door opens wildly letting out a resounding crunch as the door hits the further distance it could swing. The kirin walks in proudly and eyes the two seated at the table staring wide-eyed at the sudden entrance. "I have finished the game! And with its completion comes Brilliant Coral's Verdict!" The other two look expectantly at Coral, waiting to see if it is worth spending bits on. A wide and smug smile spreads across Coral's face. "You know it!" The next phrase catches everyone by surprise and makes them falter. "Find out next chapter!" Author's Note Well, I hope you enjoyed that, I threw this together and enjoyed writing it... a lot. I may have to make this into an actual full-fledged story and not some boring slice of life story. A little bit of a legend if you need: Regular Narration "Regular conversation." Narration conversation. "Brilliant Coral breaking the Fourth Wall." //-------------------------------------------------------// Brilliant Coral's Brilliant and Extravagant Verdict on the Game she Bought and Played for a Long Time //-------------------------------------------------------// Brilliant Coral's Brilliant and Extravagant Verdict on the Game she Bought and Played for a Long Time "Well, what is the verdict?" "Bad." Author's Note ... I just had to have a chapter with fewer words in it than there are words in the title. Well, until next time hopefully. Let me know if you wish to turn this into a real story with these characters because I have a few ideas that need to be put into fruition. Otherwise, have another song.
