The Voice In The Forest
The Voice In The Forest
Load Full StoryAlthough it looked like a beautiful afternoon in Ponyville, It wasn't such a good day for Twilight Sparkle, she was trotting down the bustling street as she was breathing frantically about her current situation.
"Okay Twilight, calm down. I'm sure you can find something to document." She explained to herself. "I mean, Ponyville is always an eventful town. There's guaranteed to be something interesting."
But just her luck, there was nothing eventful happening in the quaint town, well, to her at least. As she continued to look, she started to get more and more worried about her upcoming presentation. Letting out a big groan of frustration.
"This is feeling like the overdue letter incident all over again." Twilight pouted as she sat down on a bench to rest. "Maybe, I just need to clear my mind."
Twilight had just started to get comfortable, and was just about to drift off, when she looked to her right. There, in the distance, was the infamous forest of the entire population of Ponyville. The Everfree Forest. As Twilight gazes upon the sight, she slammed her hoof against her face, feeling stupid for not thinking of this sooner. She moaned once again.
"Why didn't I think of this before. The Everfree Forest always has a new creature to examine, which would do perfect for my test." Twilight sighed as she lifted herself off the bench and started to trot over towards the forest in the distance. After for about 10 minutes of trotting, she had finally reached her required destination, which made her smile as she starts to walk towards the entrance of the forest. She sighs tiredly, feeling satisfied that she made it after countless minutes. But then pauses and took a few steps back.
"Wait, wait, wait. Should I really do this on my own?" Whispers Twilight as she begins to think for a moment.
This presentation was really big for her, It was just a measly presentation. But, as usual, Twilight usually overthinks a lot of things that aren't really big deals. But regardless, was venturing into the creepy forest alone really worth a presentation? That was a question that spiraled into Twilight's mind. After a brief silence of thoughts, Twilight just decides to go on, thinking that it wouldn't take long to find something interesting in the mysterious and dark forest. Slowly trotting into the darkness, she sparkled her horn as a light purple light illuminated out of her horn as she clears out her path. But, surprisingly for her, she couldn't seem to find anything interesting. She groaned angrily.
"I can't believe that out of all the places in Equestria, The Everfree Forest doesn't have anything new or interesting to offer." Twilight grumbled as she walked on.
"Oh, Twilight, we need to talk."
Twilight gasped quietly as a eerily female, high pitched voice could be heard echoing in the air. In shock, her magical light ended up flickering out, like an out-of-date light bulb.
"Wh...Who are you?" A very nervous Twilight asked, who was understandably freaked out.
"Never mind that right now." The voice murmured out.
"How do you.... kno.....know who I am" Twilight stammered out.
"I may have been observing you for quite a while now." The voice explained. Twilight was mildly confused.
"You.... You've been stalking me, without saying anything!" Twilight shouted, sounding a little mad.
"I was waiting for the perfect moment. You've have been having quite the adventure, have you?" The voice eerily whispered.
"Enough of this, show yourself!" Twilight yelled as the voice laughed.
"You must be pretty silly to think that you can do something" The voice giggled as Twilight got more frustrated.
"What do you want!" Twilight shouted out.
"Well, I just want you to do me one teeny, tiny, little favor for me. You must get rid of Spike!" The voice shouted.
"No, no. Why would I ever do that for you?" She furiously asked as the voice started to explain.
"I've been jealous of Spike ever since you hatched him because of the stupid rainboom that ruined my plans, but now, now this is the perfect moment to tell you to get rid of him."
At this point, Twilight's face has gone red with fury as pure hatred could be visibly seen in her eyes. the more the voice spoke, the more Twilight got irritated. Letting out another audible groan, she let out a shot of magic in frustration, but ended up blowing a freshly cut hole right in the center of a tree as its bark smoldered.
"Oh, Twilight. You must be much more careful" The voice chimed in.
This was the breaking point of Twilight, she couldn't take it anymore.
"Listen up you.... whatever you are! LEAVE ME ALONE!!! I don't know who you are or why you are in my head but just go away! You must think that I've gone completely bonkers if you actually think that I'm going to replace my number one assistant for YOU!!! Well it's not going to happen!!!!"
Twilight started to breathe frantically, but not in a panicky way, this was in a frustrated way. As she tried to manage her cool, the voice was silent for a few seconds. Then, out of nowhere, a whirly pattern started to spiral around Twilight's surroundings. After a while, the voice said demonically.
"Now when I count to three, you'll let me be your assistant and get rid of Spike, FOREVER!!"
Twilight slowly started to snap out.
"Wait!, what's happening!?" Twilight asked nervously.
"One"
"No! You can't make me do this!"
"Two"
"Please, leave me alone!"
"Three"
Spike was sweeping the floor at the Golden Oak Library. As he continued to work, the small dragon looked out the window. It had turned to dark and the stars twinkled in the night sky. Although it looked beautiful, he was getting worried about Twilight. It wasn't like her to be out this late, unless she was helping out Applejack, which she usually does. As Spike continued to worry, he could hear the doorknob jiggle. He looked up hopefully as the door creaked open, revealing Twilight. Spike felt thrilled, but still questioned the unicorn.
"Twilight, where have you been? Did Applejack needed help again?" Spike asked the bookworm as Twilight trotted in, closing the door behind her.
"Oh, not at all." Twilight replied. "I was just thinking."
"What is it, Twilight." Spike walked closer to Twilight.
"I don't need you anymore, So, pack your things and get out." Twilight told him briefly.
Spike's heart felt twisted after hearing that news. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Tears began swelling up in his eyes as he blinked rapidly.
"Wh.... What! No... This must be a dream... I'm dreaming. There's no way...." Spike thought.
" JUST GET OUT, I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOU AGAIN!" Twilight shouted.
"Feeling defeated. Spike dragged himself up the stairs, tears still streaming down his cheeks as he prepared his stuff. Spike slowly opened the door, still feeling sad, he didn't understand why Twilight would ever kick him out. He was her number one assistant, and now it's as if she now hates him for an unknown reason. He was the one who truly cares about her, gives her great advice, and has always been there for her when she was going through a tough time, like when Twilight had an upcoming test she was nervous about, or she was just having a bad day, he had always talked her out of it and really does try to be her number one assistant, and she had just treated him like he had done something completely uncalled for and selfish. Something Spike has never done in his lifetime. He pouted down the stairs. Twilight was already there reading a book, not even acknowledging Spike's existence. Spike tried to get her attention, but it was as if he was invisible. Now knowing that she wasn't going to listen, Spike felt depressed that Twilight was ignoring her, tears still falling down, Spike slowly swung the door open and walked out. But Twilight was still reading.
Pinkie Pie hummed a happy tune to herself while closing her eyes, deep in thoughts. As she hopped down the street, she innocently examined the scenery around her, having a purely fantastic time. She was going to visit Twilight, she had been awfully quiet recently, and she was wondering to herself why she was acting like the way she was. She bounced towards the Golden Oak Library, feeling satisfied as she continued to bounce to the library and merrily knocked on the door. After a few seconds of no answer, Pinkie drooped closer to the door, listening closely for any form of sound in the library. Hoof steps trotting towards the door made Pinkie smile to herself and standed upright again. Twilight very slowly opened the door to see her pink friend.
"Hello Pinkie? Anything you want?" Twilight asked.
"Hey Twilight, Is Spike in there?. I need his cookie recipe." Pinkie called out as Twilight shook her head.
"Sorry, Pinkie, but Spike isn't around anymore" Twilight exclaimed.
Pinkie was a little bit shocked by that response. The more she examined Twilight, the more she looked unkempt. Her mane was a frizzy mess of a mane. Immediately, Pinkie thought that Twilight was having another one of her breakdowns, but then she noticed her bloodshot eyes.
"Twilight, are you okay? and what do you mean Spike isn't around anymore?" Pinkie asked nervously as Twilight chuckled.
"I mean, Spike is gone." Twilight explained.
Pinkie loudly gasped.
"Spike... is.... is gone." Pinkie stuttered out.
"Don't worry Pinkie, I've got a new assistance." Twilight answered as Pinkie got scared.
"But... who....who could replace such a cute dragon like him?" Pinkie stammered.
Twilight responded by slamming the door in her face. Pinkie starts pounding on the door urgently.
"Twilight? TWILIGHT! PLEASE OPEN UP!!!" Pinkie cried but Twilight didn't listen. Pinkie leaned in the door to hear Twilight talking to.... somepony?
"Sorry about that." Twilight said from inside.
Pinkie was about to burst in to try and reason with the purple unicorn, but then, she heard a demonic voice whisper.
"Yes, everything is coming together nicely" the voice laughed psychotically
