The Fall of the Demon Lord

The Changeling Hive
Many years ago...

Akula couldn't feel anything and his vision was clouded. He couldn't see a thing.

He even didn't know what had just happened. The only thing he did remember was fighting a massive magical stalemate alongside his Queen/lover against the traitorous Thorax, and losing after his Queen's entire hive after they turned against her and sided with the now-reformed Thorax. And after sharing their love with each other, they reformed as well and gave the traitorous Thorax more powerful, allowing him to overpower both Akula and Chrysalis and destroy Chrysalis' throne, while they were standing on it.

Only now did he realize exactly where he was. Buried under the rubble of the throne.

And as quickly as he could, he crawled out of the rubble, only to be met with a sight that he now has to live with for the rest of his life. Chrysalis also sat in the rubble, but near her was the pony that started it all: Starlight Glimmer. She was holding out a hoof to Chrysalis, with a warm smile on her muzzle. And Akula just watched on in horror as the love of his life slowly reached out to hold hooves with the pony...

...only to sigh in relief as Chrysalis smacked the hoof away in anger and jealousy. Then, Chrysalis lifted herself out of the wreckage, turned to the pony and announced, "There is no revenge you could ever conceive of that will come close to what I will exact upon you one day, Starlight Glimmer!"

The Demon Changeling felt a little bit of pride in him, knowing that Chrysalis was standing up for her beliefs and not giving in to the disease of friendship, but that feeling soon turned to more horror as he witnessed his Queen jump of the edge she had gotten onto. Immediately, he crawled to the edge, as he was too injured to get up and walk, and cried out to his Queen as she flew away. "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!" He cried out, looking like he was trying to reach out for her.

However, Chrysalis then stopped and just hovered in the air, the beating of her wings the only sound for miles around. She then turned around, and looked at her lover, like she had just heard her lover's cry. She then gave a sad look at the Demon Lord and then looked down at three items he had on him. Two necklaces, both with a bullet key-chain on the end. One necklace has a 7.62mm Soviet bullet, the other had a .45 ACP round and a custom Beretta 92FS 9mm handgun in his second under-leg holster. Looking down on her lover and possibly her last loyal changeling, she then summoned the three items to her and teleported them away, forever within her possession, before turning back around and flying away.

And to Akula, seeing his Queen fly away broke something inside of him. And as the ponies that his former followers captured, the ones that attacked them and the traitorous changelings that tuned on him just watched as the once powerful Demon Lord of the Changelings fell onto his stomach and started to weep. Blood-like tears flowed out of his eyes and down the cliff edge he lay next to, as the victors just watched on, some starting to feel bad for him.

Out of all the onlookers, Starlight Glimmer felt the most pain for the changeling. Sure, he may have supported Chrysalis' idea for overthrowing the two sisters and seize control of Equestria for her kingdom but she just realized that they had taken away his loved one, and she knew exactly how he felt.

So, in an act of fellowship, she attempted to reassure the broken-hearted changeling.

Trotting up to the weeping changeling, she then began to speak to him. "Listen, Akula. I know it is hard losing somepony you love. Trust me, I know what it feels like. But she made that choice to abandon her subjects and not become the ruler the hive wanted. You have choice as well. Maybe you could become the leader they need,"

Akula, however, just straight up ignored her, still mourning the loss of his Queen. And Starlight thought this was a bit rude. But then, the now-reformed Thorax stepped beside her, and said, "Maybe he'll listen to me. He was the one who helped create most of us. We're his kin, if you will. So maybe, he will listen," Starlight just nodded, and Thorax slowly trotted up to the weeping changeling.

"Listen, I know you loved Chrysalis very much, but you need to move on from that. And I really need your help in ruling this kingdom. I know it might be hard to believe this, but Chrysalis was the one that corrupted this hive, not me,"

That last line caught Akula's attention. His ears shot up and he stopped his weeping, his face turning to a look of shock. He slowly raised his head up, and just as slowly, got on his hooves again.

Thorax, seeing that the half-demon was actually listening to him, continued his little speech to him. "If Chrysalis had won, she wouldn't have treated you as she did previously. She was only using you for your power!"

Akula slowly turned his head to look at Thorax, his look of shock slowly turning to rage. "Liar!" Akula said to the new king, just loud enough for him to hear, "She loved me! And I loved her!"

Thorax only made the situation worse, when he said: "If she loved you, then why did she leave you behind?"

That really caused the demon to snap. He could feel his rage building up inside of him, rapidly healing his wounds and powering his magic to incredible levels. But as he listened to the new king's words, he slowly reached out and grabbed his AK-47, which had been trapped in the rubble with him. And as he brought it up to his hooves, he began to ready it for cruel purposes. But before he could, he saw that the very reliable bolt design of his AK had jammed. And he knew that if he tried to clear the jam, the rest of the traitorous hive and the ponies would be alerted to his intention. So instead, he turned the rifle around and gripped the AK by its barrel. He could also hear Thorax's hoofsteps getting closer, until he could feel the king's shadow over him.

And what came next, shocked Equestria to its core.

Akula suddenly whirled around and swung his rifle at Thorax, and hit him on the cheek with the butt of his rifle with such force, the blow almost broke the king's jaw and it left a large bloody stain on the wooden stock of Akula's rifle. Thorax fell to the floor and his new friends rushed to his aid. Akula, just as quick as he swung his rifle around, he swung his rifle onto his back, drew his M1911 and screamed out one word to Thorax: "TRAITOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Thorax slowly got back onto his hooves, as Akula started to speak his mind. "You will speak badly about the queen NO MORE!!! The only changeling that has caused corruption in this hive IS YOU!!!!! Chrysalis is the true leader of this hive and you are not worthy of running this kingdom! Because you are weak... and STUPID!!!!!"

"Hey, hey! Words hurt!" Discord told him, not making the situation any better.

Akula, in response, fired a single round at Discord. But he intentionally went too high, and the round was a warning shot. I'd shut your mouth if I was you, Was the message Akula was sending to the Spirit of Chaos with the warning shot. And it worked. Discord backed off and didn't say anything else.

"AND THAT GOES FOR THE REST OF YOU!!!!" Akula announced to the crowd, shifting his aim between the ponies and changelings in the crowd, "IF ANY OF YOU EVEN ATTEMPT TO CORRUPT ME, YOU WILL DIE BY MY HOOVES!!!!! AND ANYPONY THAT TAKES ONE MORE STEP FORWARD WILL MEET WITH THE SAME FATE!!!!!"

Watching from within the crowd, Luna was getting very tired of this lone changelings' antics, and began to chrge up her magic to banish the Demon Lord to Tartarus. "Sister, I tire of this demon's games! Shall I send him to Tartarus, where he belongs?" Luna whispered to Celestia, still charging her magic.

"Patience, Luna," Celestia whispered back, keeping her eyes on Akula, "I would like to see where this is going,"

But then, everything suddenly went wrong.

In an effort to see what was going on, one changeling attempted to barge into crowd to get a view. But this just caused a sort of Domino Effect, where more and more changelings bumped into each other, until one bumped into Starlight Glimmer... forcing her to step forward.

Akula saw her stepping forward, and took it as an act of aggression. Within a blur, Akula shot Starlight in the front-right leg. The unicorn collapsed, not dead but seriously injured. And upon seeing Starlight get shot, Luna lost her temper. "ENOUGH!!!!!!" She then suddenly cried out in her Royal Canterlot Voice, and shot her banishment spell at Akula, to Celestia's panicked cry of 'Luna, NO!' The spell flew through the air, right towards the changeling.

But he was anticipating the shot, and just before the spell hit him, he leapt into the air. He soared through the air, and the move was so surprising, not a single changeling moved to intercept him. Flying through the air, Akula let out a battle screech and aimed his fall towards Thorax. And as soon as he set his sights on the new king, he tackled him to the ground.

And once he had tackled Thorax down, he began to repeatedly hit him in the face, and yelled out more of his thoughts right in his face. "YOU HAVE RUINED THIS HIVE WITH YOUR STUPID AND WEAK BELIEF!!!! YOU TURNED THE HIVE AGAINST THE QUEEN AND DROVE HER AWAY FROM ME!!!!! AND YOU WILL NOW DIE!!!!!!!!!" And just like he did with a Royal Guard during the changeling attack on Canterlot that gave him his bloody hooves and fangs, he began beating Thorax to death. Within a full second, Akula had already broken Thorax's jaw in three places and had beaten his face into a bloody pulp. With every blow, blood spurted onto Akula's face and legs.

However, Akula rampage was cut shot when the demon was hit with a magic blast from Trixie, which knocked him off of Thorax and sent him flying into the wall. This gave time for Discord and Twilight to carry the wounded Thorax away from the fighting, who was still alive. And immediately, the whole hive, with Trixie at its head, surrounded the downed Akula. But, in a show of determination, managed to get back on his hooves. But now, all Akula saw was red. He stared down the crowd that had surrounded him with absolute hate and utter rage. "THIS. CHANGES. NOTHING!!!!!!"

Akula then turned to face the crowd and drew his 1911. But Trixie saw this, and said, "GET HIM!!!" Most of the changelings near her charged blindly towards Akula. But Akula held all the aces, and opened fire on the charging crowd. Bullets tore into the charging changeling crowd, and many of them fell, a hot .45 ACP bullet right between their eyes. But quite soon, the Demon Lord ran out of ammunition and the crowd kept coming. And he couldn't reach for his AK, so he had to improvise. He decided to flip his gun around, and use it as a pistol whip.

The changelings kept coming, but the Demon Lord didn't back down. But instead of killing the other changelings downright, he just resorted to non-lethal beatdowns until he could reload one of his weapons. Then, things changed again. After beating down a changeling, another changeling came out of nowhere and smacked Akula in the nose. But his blow was light, and Akula was furious. Instantly, Akula tackled down the changeling, sank his fangs into his neck and, within full view of everypony, proceeded to rip that changeling's throat out. As the demon pulled out the changeling's throat, he (the changeling) started to scream out for somepony to help him. But the crowd just stayed where they were, and watched on in horror.

Akula then pulled out the changeling's throat, who died instantly and turned his gaze to the horrified ponies, as he spat out the throat from his mouth. Arguably, the most shocked creature in the group was Thorax. He had just witnessed the one changeling who helped him through his rough youngling-hood killed one of his new subjects right in front of him in a brutal way. And the blood splattered all over him added to his demonic appearance. And, with his jaw now healed by Celestia, he said only one thing: "KILL HIM!!!"

Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Shining Armour, Twilight, Starlight, Trixie and Thorax cast multiple spells Akula's way, but the demon's high agility allowed him to dodge each shot, before clinging onto the roof of the hive and leaping over the huge crowd. And while he was in the air, he managed to unjam his rifle. And while he came back down on the group, he cast an invisibility spell on himself and he disappeared from the crowd.

Then, while the crowd were looking for him, there came a scream. The crowd turned around and saw the Demon Lord, rifle in his magical grasp, about to drive the bayonet blade on his rifle into the head...

...of Flurry Heart, who was pinned down by the half-demon, about to be killed.

The little filly cried out to her mother in utter terror, as the blade of Akula's rifle was raised above his head, about to strike...

...when Akula looked down and saw the terror in Flurry's eyes. Akula just looked into the little filly's eyes, sudden realizing about what he was about to do. And with his sudden realization, he began to lower his rifle, tears swelling in his eyes and before long, he strapped the rifle onto his back and just stood there, staring at Flurry with tear-filled eyes. And after a moment, Akula then said, "I...I...I'm sorry,"

And even more surprising, Flurry accepted his apology. "It's okay,"

But the moment Akula had released Flurry from his grasp, he got hit by a magic blast from Shining Armour and went flying into a wall, before falling back to the ground. Now free from the half-demon's grasp, Flurry rushed over to her mother, who held the little filly in her grasp.

But as the rest of the changeling hive moved in to arrest Akula, the demon's body suddenly went limp. A pool of blood began to appear beneath him and his breathing stopped. And for a moment, everypony thought that he was dead.

"Honey! You killed him!" Cadence then suddenly said, looking at the 'corpse' of the last changeling loyalist.

Then, all of the ponies, changelings and Discord then closed their eyes and lowered their heads to sort of honor the loss of Akula.

But then, in a moment that Shining Armour would call "Impossible!", Akula suddenly restarted his breathing and slowly got up. And in response to Akula starting to get up, the ponies and changelings with magic stood at the ready, just in case. But as the Demon Lord managed to get to his hooves, he didn't attack or shoot at them. He just stared, his rage for the reformed changelings slowly vanishing.

And upon realizing that he wasn't going to attack, the magic-equipped creatures stood down. And for quite a while, nopony made a move, and just stared at each other.

But then, Akula turned his gaze towards Thorax and said his final words to the king. "You have have won this battle, traitor. But the war... is far from over!" And with that, he then teleported away, never to be seen again.

And after confirming that Akula had fled, Thorax declared a victory.

Having now teleported away from what was once his hive, Akula found himself in the Everfree Forest. As far away from the hive as he could be before his magic ran out, he then looked back into the sky.

"I'm sorry, my Queen. I have failed you. But I swear, I will not rest until I find you!" He then silently said to the heavens, before performing an ammo check on his weapons. And his check showed that he had a single full clip for his AK-47, and his M1911 was empty. So, in summary, he only had one clip left, until he could recharged his magic.

In acknowledgement of his ammo situation, Akula switched his rifle to semi-automatic and walked off into the wilderness.
