Author’s note:
This fanfic was inspired by a rather nice chat I had with a nice fellow on omegle. We ended up roleplaying, me as my OC, and him as a random red pony. I had a lot of fun and afterwards felt inspired to write a fic about it. I hope you all enjoy, assuming people read this. I would also like to point out that the protagonist shares the same first name as my online alter ego because I couldn’t think of a more original name, and he is somewhat modelled after myself.

Chapter 1:
The weather was fine that day. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky and as the green pegasus stallion walked through the park he breathed the warm spring air as a breeze blew through his long mane as it hung limp to the side of his head. He walked and observed the scene around him; young mothers playing with their foals, the sounds of joy as they frolicked in the grass. As he turned to the right, he noticed something, a little out of place. On a bench sat a unicorn mare, a unicorn upon closer inspection with a red, almost leaning into crimson coat of fur with a rose pink mane of gorgeous, flowing locks. She was wearing an orange jacket that covered up most of her body, which struck the green pegasus as odd, considering the warm weather. But what really stood out to him was the look on the mare’s face. Her bright blue eyes were vacant, staring into space, not really focused on anything in particular and she absent-mindedly ran her hoof in circles on the bench. The green pegasus wandered over to the red mare, trying his best to appear nonchalant, he soon found himself at the red mare’s side, she had not noticed him standing there yet.

“Hello there, ma’am.” The pegasus said, trying to sound polite and friendly. The Red unicorn looked up at him. “May I ask what you’re doing here on this fine day?” The unicorn shrugged her shoulders and let out a sigh, her head cocked to one side slightly as she spoke, avoiding eye contact.

“Not much. Sitting… Thinking.” She said in a rather lacklustre tone. On closer inspection, the pegasus notices something odd about the mare’s jacket. It seemed to bulge a little bit, like there was something underneath it.

“My, aren’t you an interesting one. Mind if I sit with you?” The green pegasus said with a coy smile. The red mare shrugged as she spoke.

“I guess so…” She said. The green pegasus smiled and sat down, exhaling as he did so. The air was filled with a certain aura of awkwardness. The mare resumed staring off into space, the stallion observing his surroundings once more, the playing children, the birds in the trees, it was quite serene.

“Say, why exactly would you be wearing a jacket on a day like this? It’s hardly the weather for it.” The pegasus says, turning his head toward the unicorn. The mare glances at the pegasus for a split second before answering.

“Just… sorta… secrecy, I guess.” She says quietly, stumbling over her words as though she’s trying to cover something up.

“Secrecy?” The pegasus says, almost laughing as he speaks. “What are you, a spy or something?” The lack of answer from the mare causes the pegasus to stop. He narrows his eyes. “What are you hiding?” He says suspiciously, eyeing the mare in an almost accusatory manner.

“Well, it’s not like it’ll matter for long… I’ve been known to keep secrets I don’t need to.” The red mare lifted her jacket, revealing that her stomach bulges out more than an average pony’s should. So either she was overweight or…

“You’re pregnant?” The pegasus says in disbelief. The red mare nods silently, looking at the ground. “Now why should that be such a secret?” He inquires.

“I dunno…” The red unicorn says with a shrug, “I guess I didn’t really think this all through properly.” The green pegasus shuffles closer slightly, sensing there may be more to this than meets the eye.

“Didn’t think what through? Come on, you can tell me.” Says the pegasus, sounding calm and comforting for the clearly upset mare’s sake.

“This whole secrecy thing. It’s hardly something that can kept secret forever.” Says the mare, sounding mildly exasperated.

“True.” The pegasus replied flatly, sounding somewhat dejected as he looked at the ground.

“So why would you be keeping this secret? Wouldn’t it make you feel better to talk to someone about it?” The pegasus suggested politely.

“Oh, I dunno… I was just… ashamed maybe?” The red mare said uncertainly with a shrug of her shoulders.

“Now why should you be ashamed about that? Being pregnant isn’t anything to be ashamed about.” Said the green pegasus.

“Well, it’s the circumstances. And…. The father…” Said the mare, getting quieter with each word spoken, until her voice was but a whisper, only just heard by the kind pegasus. He could tell something was troubling this mare; that perhaps she may need somepony to talk to.

“Is there… anything you want to talk about? Or am I just sticking my nose where is doesn’t belong?” He asked.

He figured he might as well try and be helpful. It was the least he could do now that he was in this situation. There had been many a time when he felt as though he needed to talk to somepony about his problems. He knew from past experience it’s not every day there’s somepony around willing to hear your story.

“I… actually I do…. I guess....” Said the mare with a little sniff. She stopped speaking and looked up at the green pegasus, his eyes were friendly and calming. They looked as though they contained the wisdom and experience of a pony much older than the young, dashing stallion sitting before her.

“Well come on, don’t be shy.” Said the pegasus encouragingly, trying to get the mare to feel more at ease.

“But that’s exactly what got me here!” The mare exclaimed, though not loud enough to be heard by anypony else apart from the pegasus, who seemed taken aback by the sudden outburst. The mare closed her eyes and for a moment the pegasus thought she might start crying, but she just gulped and sat there, not saying anything.

“Miss,” said the pegasus, “you’re not making a lot of sense, you know. Why don’t you just start from the beginning, take your time.”

“How about I just give you the short version?” The mare said, opening her eyes and looking at the stallion.

“Very well.” He said. The mare paused for a brief moment before speaking one again.

“One night stand…” She spoke quietly, her words being only heard by the kind green stallion who sat there, a stunned look on his face.

“Oh my… that… I, I don’t even…” The stallion was lost for words, he just averted his gaze toward the ground lamely. He inhaled. “What happened?” He asked as he turned his head back toward the mare, who in then turned her own head toward the ground as she chuckled nervously.

“I would’ve thought that much would have been fairly obvious…” The red mare said, trying to laugh it off. The stallion however, could tell this was worse than the mare was making it out to be. He returned the awkward laughter with that of his own, a little more quiet however as he looked at the ground once more.

“Will you be alright?” The green stallion asked, now feeling concerned for the young mother-to-be.

“I… don’t know.” She said dejectedly, exhaling during the pause. “I didn’t move here to become a single mother. Although I guess it fits under the banner of new life though.”

“True.” The green pegasus said, nodding in agreement. “But, there are worse things, right? You’re in an opportunity here to breath life into another being, to raise a new pony to influence the world, or the life of somepony else. He could make so many people happy; he could rule a country perhaps.” He said, sounding more enthusiastic as he went. “Heck, Celestia herself was once a small baby. But now look at her, she’s the monarch of an entire country!”

“True. But being royalty, has some advantages, doesn’t it?” The mare said. She felt something and looked up to see the stallion had placed a hoof comfortingly on her shoulder. It was just a friendly gesture, nothing more, but the mare felt something stirring within herself. She snapped out of her trance when she heard the stallion speaking.

“Hey. It’ll all be alright. You’ll be alright.” He spoke in a comforting voice, his eyes soft and reassuring, with a gentle smile on his face that helped put the mare at ease. “And I’m sure your little child will grow up to be a good pony and make you proud.”

“Thanks, it’s nice to see a stranger is so confident I’ll be a good mother.” Said the mare with a smile on her face. She genuinely felt better after having such kind words spoken to her by this stranger. The stallion took his hoof back as he spoke some more.

“Hey, you seem alright. My mother raised me alone and she did a good job. If she can do it, I’m certain you’ll be capable.” He said, still keeping his words supportive and comforting for the mare.

“Maybe…” The mare said resignedly.

“Why the uncertainty?” The stallion asks in a concerned tone. “I know you’ll do the best you can. And hey, should you need any help, I’d be more than happy to assist you.”

“Thanks… but I’m sure I’ll be fine.” The red mare said half heartedly, trying to smile unconvincingly.

“Well, I’m glad to hear that, Miss.” The stallion said with a gentle smile on his face. After this there was little said, and the air around them carried an awkward aura, making them both a little uncomfortable as they sat and watched the other ponies in the park. The mare sort of stared into space, consumed in her thoughts. The stallion let out a little sigh as he spoke. “Well then… it’s been a pleasure talking to you, Miss, but I really must get going.” He said as he stood up, taking time to stretch his back leg and flex his wings. This seemed to get the attention of the mare, who had apparently snapped out of her little trance.

“Huh? Oh okay then, I guess.” She said simply. The stallion paused for a moment and looked at her.

“Was there something else on your mind?” He asked.

“No, not really.” The mare said.

“Are you sure?” The pegasus stallion asked, “I’d be happy to stay a little longer.”

“I… I dunno.” The mare said, seemingly unsure of herself again. “It is kinda nice talking to somepony about it.”

“Well it’s kinda nice being able to help somepony out just by talking to them.” The stallion said with a smile on his face.

“Well that’s good then.” The mare said, reciprocating his smile with one of her own.

“Do you have a place to stay, Miss?” The stallion asked. The mare’s smile disappeared.

“What if I said no…. and was telling the truth?” She said. “Just hypothetically speaking.” The stallion knew darn well what that meant.

“Well, that depends. Is that a yes or a no?” He asked, just wanting to hear a straight answer from this mare.

“It means…” She said, pausing to take a deep breath, “I am, sorta, homeless until I rent the room at the inn for another night.” She said, sounding somewhat ashamed. She looked up and noticed the stallion eyeing her, his eyes neither unjudging nor condemning.

“Miss, would you like to come and live with me for a while?” The stallion asked.

“Oh no!” The mare said, exasperated. “I’m sure you have better things to do.”

“All I have on my agenda is getting a few groceries from the shop, I hardly think that’s more important than helping out a nice mare such as yourself.” Said the stallion. “Really, it would be no trouble at all.”

“Are you really sure?” The mare asked.

“Of course. I’m not going to take no for an answer.” The stallion said with a tone of almost cheerful determination that lifted the mare’s spirits. She chuckled as she spoke.

“Well ok then. If I don’t have a choice there’s no point resisting then, is there?” She said with a smile.

“That’s the spirit!” The stallion said merrily. “We’d better get going then.”

“Okay.” The mare said. She began lifting herself off the bench with some effort. The stallion lends a hand, helping to lift her off. She stands with a little grunt, feeling a little light headed, but very much appreciative of the kind stallion’s help. “Heh, thanks.” She says.

“Anytime.” The stallion says with yet another warm smile. He begins walking down the path, the red mare in tow. Without warning, she stops in her tracks, her eyes widen and her mouth gapes open for a second and she gulps. The Stallion hears this and he turns around to see the mare standing there, looking a redder around the cheeks than she would have normally with her almost crimson coat. She suddenly resumes walking catching up to the stallion.

“Are you alright Miss?” The stallion asks, resuming his walk at a slower pace to allow the mare to catch up.

“Uh, yeah.” She says with a little smile, now walking beside the stallion. “Just a… random thought.”

“Oh really? What about?” He asks, an innocent smile on his face.

Oh, I wish he’d just stop smiling like that… The mare thinks to herself.

“Oh, it’s nothing.” She says with a nervous chuckle, making it blindingly obvious that it wasn’t just ‘nothing’. The stallion found this secretive behaviour suspicious, but he decided to let it slide, he figured there couldn’t be anything too sinister about this.

“Well, if the lady insists then.” He said. The red mare could have sworn his teeth sparkled in the afternoon sunlight, or maybe that was just her mind playing tricks with her.

“I… sorta do.” She said sheepishly.

“Sort of? You’re a riddle, ma’am.” The stallion said, shaking his head a little, causing his long, limp hair to sway a little.

“Oh, I have no idea what I’m thinking anymore…” The mare says; sounding frustrated.

“Perhaps you just need some time to get your thoughts sorted out.” The stallion says calmly and reassuringly, much to the relief of the mare.

“Well it seems to change at the slightest provocation. Damn hormones.” She says with a groan.

“Yeah… I doubt that’d be all too helpful.” The stallion says.

“Tell me about it.” The mare says unenthusiastically. “Add that with…” She trails off, causing the stallion to turn and look at her. He notices a peculiar look in her eye.

“What’s the matter?” He says in a panicked tone, now worried for the mare.

She shakes her head and snaps back to reality. “Oh, nothing. Just a-another random thought…” This answer doesn’t seem to satisfy the stallion, his eyes narrow and he walks toward her, his face right in front of hers.

“Alright, stop with the games.” He says, his tone no longer so friendly and warm as it once was. “Something’s going on here you’re not telling me. Before I let you anywhere near my house, you need to come clean. What’s. Going. On?” He says in an almost aggressive tone.

“Well, it’s just… I’ve been…” The next word she barely muttered. “Aroused, lately… a lot.” As she said this her face burned bright red, noticeable even on her fur’s natural shade of red. The heat was practically radiating off her face. When the word ‘aroused’ rolled from the mare’s mouth, the stallion’s jaw dropped. Had that been what was going on? Was that why she seemed reluctant to come with the pegasus?

“Wait, you’re telling me you’ve been ‘aroused’ a lot lately?” The stallion asked incredulously, not sure if this was serious.

“Yes.” The mare said, sounding awfully embarrassed with herself. “At the oddest things, really.” This last statement intrigued the stallion.

“Okay… what sort of odd things?” He asked, not caring much for tact now the big secret was out.

“Well, perhaps a nice stallion such as yourself innocently saying ‘anytime’ as you did?” The mare said with a nervous smile. She was nearly dying of embarrassment inside. What on earth would this kind stranger think of her now? Would he assume her to be some sort of sex-crazed freak?

“Oh. Okay then.” Said the stallion. Not really sure of how to continue the conversation. “Oh look, we’re nearly there.” He said, pointing his house out a short distance down the road.

“Oh. Good then!” The mare said, happy to change the subject from her embarrassing issue.

They had been walking for a little while; the path had taken them a little out of the way of Ponyville. The house was relatively secluded, being far away from all the bustle of the small town, next to a serene looking forest. The sight in front of the mare was one of a somewhat small but cosy looking house, a little veranda out the front with a plain wooden chair.

“Um, about that whole ‘arousal’ thing earlier. You don’t need to worry about it’s… it’s fine.” The stallion says somewhat awkwardly, trying to put the mare at ease a little.

“What, meaning I should just blurt out every inexplicably perveted thing that comes to mind?” The mare says a little exasperatedly.

“Well, not quite what I was getting at.” The stallion said with a nervous chuckle. “I just mean, like, there are some ponies, who find themselves aroused at odd things, more so than others. I think you’re just one of those ponies. It’s nothing to be embarrassed about, it’s just something that makes you unique and your own pony.” The mare smiled at this, happy that this stallion was understanding and not really judging her.

The two ponies approach the house. The stallion made his way up the short set of stairs to the veranda with the mare in tow, though a little slower. They paused at the door, the stallion opening his mouth to speak.

“Well, here we are, miss.” He said, opening the door.
