Sci-Twi’s Mystery Machine of Randomness
True sight
Previous Chapter“Ok, I think I have it ready,” Twilight said, finishing with the last of her calculations in her new invention.
“Are you sure Twilight? You barely slept anything.” Sunset had been watching her over the last minutes with an ever-worried expression. Although she had to give credit to the mad scientist, her work seemed very professional even in her current state.
“I know, but I just can’t stop with this, I have to see to what limits I can take it.”
“That’s not a good motivation to do something potentially dangerous.”
Twilight gave a frustrated grunt. “For the last time, it’s perfectly safe!” she adjusted her glasses. “Now, do you want to be the next volunteer?”
Sunset looked nervously at the weird machine. “I… guess?”
“Em, could I try it?”
Twilight and Sunset looked back, finding Fluttershy looking at them with her usual shyness.
“Of course, step right in,” Responded Twilight, but Sunset stopped her.
“Why would you want to step into this thing?”
“Well, it turned Rainbow invisible. It could be fun. To be able to do that.”
“That sounds more like an excuse.”
“It’s good enough for me!” declared Twilight starting the machine once Fluttershy was in place.
“You did install a reverse function in this thing, right?”
“For the last time Sunset; yes!”
“And you are sure it works?”
“Eh? Oh, yeah… totally.”
“Twilight!”
“No matter, science time! Test of the MMR number two, begins” she declared pressing the button, showering Fluttershy in the white light.
*DING*
Sunset and Twilight looked at the machine, and Fluttershy was standing there, perfectly fine and visible.
“Did it fail?” asked Sunset.
“It shouldn’t have. Do you feel different Fluttershy?”
Fluttershy didn’t respond, her eyes seemingly looking at nowhere in particular.
“Fluttershy?”
“I can see now.” Declared the yellow skinned girl.
“What do you mean?” asked Sunset with a more than worried expression.
“The veil of ignorance has been lifted. The universe is now bare at my sight. It’s vast emptiness and darkness which only blessing is to hide the terrible secrets of the world from our weak, undeveloped minds.”
Sunset took a few steps back, her face now of fear rather than worry.
Twilight was also afraid but tried to keep a straight face and talk. “Come on Fluttershy, we are all people of science.”
Flutthersy looked directly at her, her pupils wide and showing little constellations in their black surface, piercing straight into her soul and beyond, paralyzing her with fear.
“Science? Science it’s just humans trying to pathetically grasp a mere glimpse of the truth. A truth that if it were revealed, their pathetic minds would wish no more than forget it and delve into their blissful ignorance again.” She lifted her arms into the sky. “even know that my eyes have been open, I’m just seeing the shadows of the cosmic beings that transcend our comprehension of existence.”
“Fluttershy, you are scaring us,” said Sunset, her heart racing with fear, and her mind screaming with the inexplicable instinct to flee.
“It won’t matter soon. I can see that this shell of dirt and rock is reaching it’s time to hatch and release the-”
A ray of light covered Fluttershy.
*DING*
There was a moment of silence, as Fluttershy’s eyes returned to normal, and her expression came back to the meek, shy one that sunset and Twilight knew.
“Uh? Did it work?” she asked confused.
“Uh… no, it didn’t, I will see if I can repair it,” Twilight responded, a nervous smile in her face.
“Oh, well, I will wait then.”
Fluttershy walked way from the machine, and Sunset approached Twilight making sure she couldn’t hear them talking.
“What the hell was that?”
“Uhm, a Lovecraftian ray?”
“Twilight! This thing is dangerous!”
“Oh, come on, it didn’t harm her, she doesn’t even remember what happened. Besides, now we know that the reverse function works.”
“Why am I even allowing you to do this?” Sunset exclaimed while rubbing the bridge of her nose.
“Because you are also curios as to what this thing can do.”
Sunset released an exasperated sigh. “Just make sure you don’t traumatize us further.”
“I make no such promise.”
