Rainbow Dash flies to the Wonderbolts headquarter, ready for her new life. She had just been invited to be a Wonderbolt. A full fledged Wonderbolt! How exciting is that! Dash had spent countless sleepless nights looking forward to being a Wonderbolt, and here she is. As she approached the track of the Wonderbolt, she could not help but shiver in anticipation. It was her first day, after all.
"Hey, 'sup there Dash. Name's Spitfire, I'm the captain of the Wonderbolts here," a yellow pegasus had seemed to zoom out of nowhere and now is fluttering beside Dash, "I'm gonna take you for a quick tour around,"
As Spitfire flied ahead, Dash could not help but marvel at the speed of the Wonderbolt. It's just... amazing! No wonder she is the captain! Lost in her own thoughts, she did not realise that Spitfire had stopped, and flied into her. The two pegasi were sent tumbling onto the field of grass.
"Ouch ouch. I'm so sorry Spitfire, are you alright?" Dash stood up, looking for the Captain of the Wonderbolts. However, there was no response.
Dash frantically searched around the field, and found her laying on the grass on the other side of the track. The goggles of the Wonderbolt had snapped into two, each one dangling off the pegasus' ear. The flight suit had been torn and ripped at some places, exposing the bright yellow coat of the pony.
"Spitfire!" Dash shouted, "Are you ok?"
Spifire just laid there on the ground.
Now, Dash is getting panicked. Not only she had just screwed up her first day of being a Wonderbolt, she had injured the Captain of the Wonderbolt! She hurried off to find somepony to help Spitfire, and flew into the locker room.
"Somepony help Sp- eep!" Dash entered the changing room and immediately saw a blue pegasus taking off his flight suit. Shielding her eyes, she remembered that ponies don't even wear clothes, and internally slapped herself for the stupidity.
"What can I help you with?" Soarin, if Dash remembered correctly from the various Wonderbolt magazines she had read, spoke.
"S-Spitfire! She's fell at the field!"
The two pegasi immediately took off flying towards the field, with Dash in the lead. They flew to the slumped body of Spitfire, who still had not bulged in inch.
Soarin examined Spitfire closely for any signs of blood and bruises. He then lifted her up. Using his back to carry her, he flew to the Wonderbolt's Headquarter. A powerful stroke of his wings and he is gone, along with Spitfire.
Dash was left alone in the field, trembling because of what had happened. What if she was permanently banned from the Wonderbolts? What if she got kicked out, and everypony knows? Worst of all, what if Spifire dies because of her? The more she thought, the more anxious she became.
I gotta get out of here, the cyan pegasus thought to herself, they're gonna chase me out anyways. Dash spread her wings, ready to take off into the sky and leave.
"Rainbow Dash!" A voice rang out and paralysed the pegasus in question, stopping her from flying off. That's it, she thought, I'm gonna get killed. She looked around for the owner of the voice, and found the whole squad of the Wonderbolts flying to her, with Soarin in front.
"Spitfire is ok right now, she just needs some rest," Soarin assured her, "You are not in any kind of trouble,"
Dash breathed a sigh of relief, mentally wiping her forehead. Soarin continued on.
"However, since you had, uh, put the captain out of commission, you became the captain. That's the rule," Soarin ended, looking at Dash expectantly.
Dash is confused. She had never heard of anything like this.
"Go on, captain. What do we do now?" Soarin prompted Dash.
"Uh, I- I guess continue whatever y'all were doing," Dash stuttered. The Wonderbolts all returned to their posts, chatting with each other, perhaps discussing the change of captain.
Dash was absolutely stunned by the news. She, the captain? What sort of weird rule is this, making the captain fall just to replace them? That's messed up, she thought, but at least I get to be the captain!
"Yeah!" Dash took to the air and did a somersault, "I'm the captain of the Wonderbolts!"
She flew to the office and found a door named 'Captain Spifire', which she opened and peeked inside. The room was a mess, with trophies and awards scattered all over the shelves and paper strewn all over the floor.
Well, since I'm the captain, this room's mine, Dash thought. She jumped into the chair behind the desk, pushing off the paper on the table to put her legs on the table. Pulling out her sunglasses from nowhere, Dash placed it on her face. Now I feel like a boss, she thought, this is awesome!
However, the longer Dash sat on the chair, the weirder she felt. Its like the feeling where something's wrong, and you can feel it.
"Something's wrong, I can feel it," Dash mumbled to herself, looking around the room for any kind of bad things that could happen.
Then, it happened. The dark blue walls of the room turned a flaming red, engulfing Dash in an unbearable heat. She yelped, stumbling out of the chair, swatting around randomly as if to make the heat go away. The chair burst into flames, white hot fire spreading across the room. Dash took to the air, hovering above the floor to avoid the fire.
"What's happening?" She cried out loud, "Somepony, anypony, help!"
Her cry for help was answered with the light bulb bursting. The shattering of glass filled her ears and the shards rained down upon the cyan pegasus. Letting out a scream, she turned to face... Spitfire.
The yellow pegasus was now engulfed in flames, her once orange eyes had now became an empty chamber filled with green flames, staring right into Dash's magenta ones.
"They call me Spitfire for a reason," Spitfire whispered to Dash.
Dash gulped, expecting the worst.
Then she woke up.
