Pinkie groaned as she shut off her pink glittery phone, her eyes adjusting to the dim light in her bedroom.
She shuffled in bed, looking out her window at the sunrise, the light brightening every minute. She had opened the window just a few minutes earlier to let the chilly morning air in and the chirping of the early birds.
Ever since this pandemic started, her sleep schedule became all wack, resulting in her sleeping most of the day and being awake until sunrise.
Her stomach growled, reminding her that she had somehow forgotten to eat dinner last night. She had taken a nap after playing Roblox, and she had woken up at ten pm.
What could Pinkie Pie eat this fine morning? Perhaps some chocolate chip pancakes with Nutella and maple syrup? Well, as much as that sounded really good, Pinkie Pie had another pastry in mind. Even though it was a dessert, she would definitely go for it every meal.
Soft Sugar Cookie Bars.
She had found it while scrolling through her friends Instapone account, looking oh so delicious. She yearned to taste its pink sprinkley buttercream frosting and yellow soft cake.
Throwing her pink zebra stripe throw blanket away from her body, she slid off the bed and grabbed a tacky flannel shirt. She put that and blue fluffy slippers that had small happy cat faces on it on, just in case her small body gets cold. She then grabbed her phone and stuffed it into her interdemensional pink mane.
Skipping out of her room and down the stairs to the kitchen, she breathed in a whiff of the crisp air, refreshing her achy head. A smile grew on her face, ready to cook up a storm!

Pinkie Pie got set to work quick. After placing her phone onto the counter, she opened a cabinet to pull out a large metal mixing bowl. While getting utensils and measuring cups and spoons, she set the oven to 350 degrees.
Beep boop beop Pinkie punched in the numbers, and the oven made a small click, signaling that it is now heating up.
Gingerly grabbing a glass pan from the wall cabinet and retrieving some baking spray from the spice cabinet, she prepared the pan for consumption- I mean, to hold the consumable entity.
Heading back to the bowl and carefully organizing the utensils and cups behind the bowl, the pink pony looked at the recipe on her phone, which was encased with a glittery pink unicorn face.
“Alrighty, first things first, the staples!” Pinkie said to herself, reading off the recipe. Humming, she began walking to the bakery office, before stopping herself while giggling. “Oh Pinkie, you silly filly” she rubbed her fluffy cheek as she went back to the phone. “Let’s see... butter, sugar, eggs, SOUR CREAM??” she yelped. Out of all the things she had cooked, never once has she used sour cream.
“Oh well, what else? Oh, vanilla, flour, baking powder...” as Pinkie read the recipe out loud, her arms reached an ungodly length to reach each ingredient. Each tub and glass hit the counter simultaneously, disturbing the swirling galaxies within the space marble.
“Vanilla, salt, milk, and SPRINKLES!” she screamed in delight, placing the sprinkle bottle on top of the flour.
“Okay dokay, firstly, I gotta soften up this butter! Only a half cup, at least” Pinkie unwrapped the butter from the paper and placed it in a small white bowl. She slid it into the microwave and let it cook for 20 seconds. Just before it beeped obnoxiously, she opened the door and grabbed the bowl with the wisp of her hair, to prevent getting burned.
Plopping the butter into the bowl, along with a cup of sugar, she started to mix. “Mix until floofy, got it!” Pinkie chirped, picking up a blue spatula by wrapping a hoof around it, her skilled hooves quickly mixing the ingredients together. At one point, she started to mix at a high super sonic speed, causing some of the batter to fly out. “Heh, I better not do that” she chuckled, before she abruptly stopped. “Or should I say, I BATTER not! Hahahah!” Pinkie laughed in full glory.
She noticed a small alligator had climbed onto the counter and was weaving between the tubs to get to her. Every step he took made the galaxy sparkle a bit.
“Hi Gummy! Nice to see you this morning!” Pinkie grinned, before her face fell into a deep serious expression. She leaned in to the derped gator and harshly whispered “did you think that joke was funny?” The only response from Gummy was him licking off sugar from her fluffy cheek. “Hahah, I know! Totally the best! I really gotta add it to my list” Pinkie reached into her mane and pulled out a pen and notepad, furiously scribbling down the joke. Tossing it back in, she continued mixing.
Not before scrolling down the recipe with a cute round muzzle.
“Okay, time for eggs” she used a pink hoof to gently roll the two eggs towards the bowl. Pausing for a moment, she turned to Gummy, who was purring quietly. “Hey Gummy! I bet you five Galaxy Star cupcakes that one of these eggs has two yolks!” Pinkie grabbed one with a hoof and cracked it, letting the orange yolk plop onto the sugar butter. Just a regular ol’ yolk. Grumbling at the egg juice getting onto her hooves, she quickly grabbed the second one and cracked it, gasping at what she saw.
Instead of two yolks, there were THREE!
“Eureka! Baby a triple! Oh yeah!” She whooped, tossing the egg shells into the trash as she hoof pumped.
Sliding over to the sink, she sighed. “Well, I’ll still make you a Galaxy Cupcake Gummy” she washed off her hooves under the cool water. “Those stars are hard to harvest though” she contemplated, drying off her pink hooves with a nearby towel.
Adding in the dreaded sour cream and vanilla, Pinkie realized that she needed another bowl for the next step. Sighing, she reached under her and opened the cabinet, pulling out a smaller metal bowl. Pushing away the primary bowl, she placed the bowl onto the counter with quite the unsettling force, causing a black hole to form underneath.
“Oh no! I killed the vibe!” the pink pony gasped, quickly pushing away the empty bowl to see the small black entity that was underneath it. Gingerly, she began to pet it, feeling it sucking on her hoof in anger. “Hi... I’m sorry I hurt you. I wasn’t paying attention, and I am quite tired. I really didn’t mean to” Pinkie cooed, watching the black hole wiggle a bit. Gurgling like SCP-999, it formed a paw and waved, disappearing in a blink.
“Sorry Miku” Pinkie sighed in relief, pushing the bowl back to position. Looking at the recipe once more, she measured 2 1/2 cups of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and a dash of salt. She stirred the dry ingredients in the smaller bowl, then when mixed, she added it to the wet ingredients.
“Phew!” Pinkie wiped her forehead once everything was mixed. “Now, time to get this puppy in the oven!”
An autotune bark from the counter made her jump.
Looking back, she saw that the constellation Canis Major was looking quite displeased, it even drawing Canis Minor towards it in self defense, growling Jupiters winds.
Pinkie shook a hoof at it. “No! I’m terribly sorry, I did not mean you Inu” she trotted over and held out a hoof for Inu to sniff. “Apology? I would never hurt you.” The constellation tilted its star head, looking at the pink hoof. It then used a galaxy to lick Pinkie’s hoof, leaving behind some stars as she giggled. “Thanks for understanding. I’ll even give you two some cake afterwards!” she patted Onu’s head, who yipped happily.
Turning towards the bowl, she picked it up with her teeth, which proved to hurt due to its weight, and trotted towards the oven where the glass pan sat. Tilting the bowl, she watched the yellow batter fill up the pan in folds and layers. Using her tail to reach the spatula, she scraped out the rest of the batter into the pan. Shaking the pan a bit to evenly distribute the batter, she took an oven mitt and grabbed the pan, opening the oven door. Hot heat pooled out as she stood to the side, waiting a second before she slid in the pan. Closing it up, she set her cupcake timer to 18 minutes.
“Okay, time for the best part: FROSTING!” Pinkie cheered, heading back to her phone to scroll down further.

“Beat together butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy...” Pinkie read out loud while beating the cream, after she got another bowl and melted some more butter. “Some vanilla and salt” she threw in the desired amounts. “Some cream and milk, until it is smooth and spreadable, that is” Pinkie mumbled as used her mouth to pour some milk into the bowl. Continuing to beat it, she grinned as she grabbed the pink dye that would really add a splash of awesomeness to this artwork.
Dripping in some too much dye, the cream began turning the same shade of pink as Pinkie’s coat. Finishing up, she licked the spatula, balling up into a self hug at the wonder taste.
It was a couple of minutes before the cake would be done, so Pinkie decided to talk to Taurus, to check in for their time of the year. Taurus was Pinkie’s zodiac, and it made sort of sense. She loved food and she was lazier than Rainbow Dash on a spring day. But she felt she was more of a Sagittarius. They were more outgoing, cheerful, optimistic, like Pinkie was. Then Taurus kept mentioning this reptile from another world that was fictional and hates life and kills people. Kinda weird to bring up, but okay.

“Done!” Pinkie chirped, knocking open the oven door with a kick. She once again let the heat flood out before using the mitt to grab the pan from the hell heated oven.
Closing the door once more and turning off the heat with a button, Pinkie placed the hot pan on the stove top. She marveled at it, a simple, fluffy cake. But it seemed much, much more.
She got out a cooling rack and got to work. She used the mitt again to hover the pan over the wire rack. She twisted her head 180 degrees and back again. A smirk grew on her face as the cake slid through the bottom of the pan and onto the rack. Perfect she thought as she rested the pan in the sink, spraying cold water over it.
“Well, I better clean up while this cools down!” Pinkie looked at the opposite counter, filled with ingredients and dishes. Slowly but surely, Pinkie cleaned each bowl and put it away, every curve of a tablespoon, every ingredient in its home. Wiping the galaxy counters with Milky Way spray, she noticed that the sunlight was shining through the pink and blue striped curtains of the kitchen. Opening them, she looked at the wooden houses glowing under the sun’s light. Some ponies were already out and about, but only for important reasons, due to the virus in Equestria.
Pinkie smiled softly. Life is beautiful, even while baking sugar bomb breakfasts. She loved her friends, her family, her life. Okay, so early mornings make Pinkie think deep, but it sure is beautiful.
Once she made sure the cake was cooled enough, she got to work spreading the pink frosting over the yellow cake. Piling on every last bit, she grabbed the rainbow sprinkles, and some galaxy nebulas, to sprinkle on.
Once finished, Pinkie sighed. She was sure tired, but for the moment of truth! Just as she was going to cut a square slice out, a bell at the front desk startled her. “Who would come this early?” Pinkie thought out loud as she hurried over to the receptionist desk. There stood Twilight Sparkle, dressed in a dark purple custom made face mask, wearing blue rubber hoof gloves, and under her left wing, a bottle of Lysol.
“Good morning Pinkie, I am here to pick up an order” Twilight greeted, her words slightly muffled by the mask. The pink pony perked up, remembering that the Cakes made some pastries for Twilight last night. “Sure thing Twi-hi! I’ll be back in two shakes of my tail!” Pinkie wagged her floofy tail. She zipped away and back within a second, holding a light blue box full of different kinds of sweets, and a plate of the sugar cookie squares.
Pinkie placed the box down, using her own Lysol to spray the box, just in case. Twilight nodded as she picked it up with her magic and placed it between her wings. As she was getting out her money, Pinkie spoke up.
“Wanna try these? I just made them!” Pinkie chirped, snapping on rubber gloves and picking up a slice of sugar cookie goodness.
The purple horse cocked her head, her big purple pupils expanding a bit. “Ooo, what are they?”
“Soft Sugar Cookie Bars, they call them” Pinkie pulled down Twilight’s mask and stuffed the bar into her muzzle, getting some pink frosting onto her muzzle. Chewing for a few moments while licking her chops, Twilight smiled warmly. “Wow! These are amazing! Do you have any more?” She pointed to the white plate with a single bar left.
Pinkie hummed, grabbing it and zipping back and forth once more. Six sugar cookie squares sat on the plate now. Holding it out to the purple mare, she took it with magenta magic and held it in the air. “Thank you so much Pinkie! Have a couple extra coins for that” Twilight offered, placing seven golden coins in front of her hooves. Pinkie simply nodded, too tired to negotiate. “Have a great day Twily! Be safe!” Pinkie waved, sliding the coins into the cash register. Twilight waved back, trotting out of the bakery.
Heading back to the kitchen, she saw that Mr. and Mrs. Cake were up and cooking, even tried a sample of cookie themselves.
Pinkie slid some onto a plate and headed over to the living room with her phone. Settling on a pink beanbag chair shaped like a kitty, she raised a cookie to her muzzle to take a bite, but right then, she fell asleep, instantly snoring.
