Taking place around five years after the series, Shining Armor and Princess Cadance have went from being the happiest couple in the land to the most miserable as their marriage has taken a turn for the worse.

Princess Cadance has willingly taken over most of the leadership duties in the Crystal Empire which in turn drove Shining Armor to take a job back in Canterlot as a trainer for new recruits in the Royal Guard.

The distance, bitterness, and unhappiness between the couple has grown to the point where their love has started to fade. But they are not the only ones to feel it as it will soon be felt within the Crystal Heart and the hearts of everypony in the Crystal Empire.
