Equestrian Warriors of Light
More Statues
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"So, where do we go from here?" Silverstream asked the Earth Crystal.
"Fly to the continent east of here," said the Earth Crystal. "That's the sector Kefka is trying to take over. We get the feeling he is next. On the easternmost past of the southeast continent is Crescent Island. Inside a cave there resides the Water Crystal. I would recommend talking to it."
"The Water Crystal," said Silverstream. "If the Wind Crystal picked Rainbow Dash, the Earth Crystal picked Fluttershy, and the Fire Crystal picked Sunset, that means the Water Crystal picked me, right?"
"Correct," said the Earth Crystal.
"Then that's where we'll go," said Fluttershy.
The four Warriors of Light exited the pyramid and flew east.
"I've got it!" said Kefka. "I know what I have to do! Stand on my dragon's tail!"
"Seriously?" said Sephiroth while the Emperor facepalmed.
"Wait, no, I was thinking about something else," said Kefka. "I know what I have to do! Have the ponies switch places at the first mud hole so that they think one is the other!"
"What in my name are you talking about?" said the Emperor.
"I'm just screwing with you," said Kefka. "I know how to make us gods! And screw up the world while we're at it!"
"Do tell," said Sephiroth.
"There's a hidden cave on my quadrant," said Kefka. "With the power I have already, I can raise it from the ground! Inside this cave is... pause for dramatic effect... The three statues!"
"You refer to the Warring Triad," said the Emperor.
"If they are moved out of alignment, the world will be unbalanced and possibly destroyed," said Sephiroth.
"That sounds like my kind of plan," said Exdeath.
"Not only that, but I'll absorb all the power of the statues so I'll have power over them even if they reawaken, and I will truly become a god!"
Sephiroth, the Emperor, and Exdeath glared at him.
"But of course you'll become gods too!" said Kefka. "I wouldn't backstab you or anything." He crossed his fingers behind his back. "We'll split it 50/50!"
"There's four of us," said Exdeath.
"Then 25/25/25/25/! Now I must go to my Cultists' Tower! That'll be the best place to raise the Floating Continent! Then the power of the Statues is MINE! I mean... OURS! Hahahaha!" With his iconic laugh, Kefka mounted his dragon and flew out the window.
"I see it!" said Silverstream.
"That doesn't look like a crescent to me," said Rainbow Dash.
"But it's at the far east of the continent," said Silverstream. "That must be Crescent Island!"
Sunset checked her world map. "Silverstream's right, this is it."
They landed on Crescent Island and made their way to the cave, which in Final Fantasy VI would be known as Esper Caves.
"Do you think we'll see any stairs?" said Silverstream.
"Sooner or later," said Sunset.
"Or some cute little bunnies," said Fluttershy. "If this world has any, then that's more reason to stop those meanies. I didn't realize I was so cute."
"It just comes naturally for you," said Sunset. "And you too, Rainbow."
"Why does everypony keep calling me cute?" said Rainbow, blushing again.
"You kinda are," said Silverstream, nuzzling Rainbow's head. Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"If Rainbow Dash is a cat, Fluttershy's a kitten," said Sunset. "Even on rainy Mondays when I'm in a rush to get to school, there's always time to stop and pet a kitten. I made sure Fluttershy got him to the animal shelter she works at. Um... my world's Fluttershy," she added, looking in Fluttershy's direction. "She and I did a game stream once. She's really good at this game where you get the squirrel to climb a tree. I wasn't so good at it, but she was awesome."
"She sounds a lot like me," said Fluttershy.
"You two are a lot alike."
They entered the cave and made their way through the passages. This time there weren't any monsters to fight. They were just going around a corner when Silverstream bit Rainbow Dash's tail and pulled her behind a rock.
"What is it?" said Rainbow Dash. "Did you see something?"
"No, I just wanted to bite your tail," said Silverstream. "Applejack used to do it all the time."
"Yeah, she did. It was a little annoying, but I almost kinda miss it now. The last time she did that was against the Pony of Shadows, before the School of Friendship existed." They resumed walking. "I wonder why she bit my tail all the time. I mean, she bit Twilight, Pinkie, and Spike's tails too, but she bit my tail the most."
"Probably to keep you from doing something rash," said Sunset.
"Usually, yeah, she wanted to pull me back. One time we were in the Running of the Leaves and she bit my tail to pull me back. Then I did the same to her. We weren't really good sports in that race, but we're much more awesome at being better sports now!"
They eventually reached a room that had three statues inside it, and a blue crystal.
"This must be the Water Crystal room!" said Silverstream. "I wonder if it's anything like the pearl."
"Welcome, Warriors of Light," said the Water Crystal. "Your next task is at hand. The statues you see before you are a monument to the Warring Triad, three beings of immense power who created some of the monsters of this land. They fought each other in an endless battle and nearly destroyed the world, before they got tired of fighting and turned themselves to stone."
"Like the Storm King," said Silverstream. "Wait, he's not one of them, is he?"
"How could he be?" said Rainbow Dash. "I saw him fall and shatter to pieces, and then when we restored Canterlot, while the princesses were turned back from stone, the Storm King's pieces were disintegrated."
"The statues were placed in alignment to keep the balance," said the Water Crystal. "But if they are moved out of alignment or reawaken, the world as we know it will be destroyed! And if Kefka obtains their power, he will become a god."
"Then let's stop him!" said Rainbow Dash. "Where is he?"
"He is currently at a tower made by a cult who worships him. It is from here that he wishes to raise the Floating Continent, where the Statues reside. You might be able to stop him before he can. But be warned, only magic can be used in the temple. I would recommend buying Reflect Rings at the town on this island. They will reflect every magic spell except Ultima. Surely you've obtained some gil in your battles to buy it with."
"So that's what those coins are," said Sunset. "Then let's go get some Reflect Rings. Where's the tower?"
"In the center of the southern continent on this island. In another world, an evil empire's capital city would be there, or else Kefka's tower itself, and the cult would have made their tower on a trench above water. But that is not this world."
"Then let's go," said Sunset.
They left the cave and walked to Thamasa. They bought some Reflect Rings at the general store. Sunset and Silverstream put them on their fingers. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy put them on their tails like G1 ponies' bows, because they had no fingers or horns to put them on.
"Is it just me, or did that shopkeeper look like Grandpa from Yu-Gi-Oh?" Sunset said.
"What's Yu-Gi-Oh?" Silverstream asked.
"Never mind."
They took off and flew to the southern continent. The Cultists' Tower was easy to notice.
"I say we fly in the top window!" said Rainbow Dash.
"The crystal said only magic can be used there," said Sunset. "For all we know it could block flight too."
They landed at the foot of the tower and entered it.
"STAIRS!" said Silverstream, looking up excitedly. "So much stairs!"
"Someone's gonna have fun here," said Fluttershy.
They ran up several flights of stairs, Silverstream in front, and Rainbow Dash right behind her as she was the fastest. Eventually they reached the topmost room.
"Kefka!" said Rainbow Dash as they entered.
Magic Master turned around. "You just missed him. He has already raised Floating Continent. He will move the Statues out of alignment and become the god he truly is."
"Then let's stop him!" said Silverstream.
"If you dare defy our one true lord, you will be destroyed. You." He pointed at Silverstream. "You seem to like my tower the most, so I shall take you first. Thundara!" He shot a blast of lightning at Silverstream.
She flinched in anticipation, but the lightning rebounded harmlessly off her and hit Magic Master.
"So, you're lightning-resistant, are you? Try Fira!" He shot a blast of flame at Silverstream, but it reflected back at him again. Magic Master kept casting spells on Silverstream, but they all hit him instead.
Until eventually, after being hit by his own Thundaga spell, he was unable to fight anymore.
"If I go down, I'm taking you with me! Ultima!" He powered up for a final magic attack.
"That doesn't sound good," said Rainbow Dash. She bit Silverstream's tail and pulled her out of the room. Sunset and Fluttershy quickly followed. Magic Master's Ultima attack hit thin air. If the Warriors of Light had been in the room, they would never have spoken again.
"Lord Kefka... forgive me..." Magic Master fell to the ground and faded into nothingness.
"Forget him, it's Kefka we're after," said Sunset.
Silverstream hovered in the air. "Hey, we can fly here after all!"
"Or is it because the cult leader is gone?" said Rainbow Dash.
Sunset ponied up and they flew into the air. They were able to spot the Floating Continent pretty easily, and flew directly to the site where the three Statues stood. Kefka stood in the center of them, surrounded by an aura.
Fluttershy looked nervously at the large dragon that stood to the side. This must have been how Kefka had gotten here. Then she saw Kefka himself and shuddered, for she was secretly afraid of clowns.
"You're too late, ponies!" said Kefka. "The ritual has already begun! Once I absorb all the magic from these Statues, I shall become a god! Then I shall move the Statues out of alignment and this world will meet its doom! And so will you! Doom, doom, doom!" He laughed maniacally.
Silverstream examined the statues. One looked like a humanoid dragon. One looked demonic and grotesque. And one looked like a goddess. None of them looked like a yeti with horns and a monkey tail. "None of these are the Storm King."
"Didn't I tell you?"
"We won't let you do this, Kefka!" said Sunset, and she shot a blast of green magic at Kefka. It fizzled out as soon as it got near him.
"Foals!" said Kefka. "Hahaha... see what I did there? As long as I'm standing in the magic field of the statues, you can't even touch me!"
Rainbow Dash flew at Kefka, but hit the statues' forcefield and fell on her back.
"Now what are we gonna do?" said Fluttershy.
"Sunset, what happens if the Statues are destroyed?" Silverstream asked.
"If they're in alignment, their power cancels each other out," said Sunset. "If they're gone... their power will be nonexistent, so the balance shouldn't change. If Kefka's not finished draining their power, then he won't be able to keep that power. If he does, then he will fully control their power and we'll have to defeat him as a god. To destroy them now is our best chance."
"Then what are we waiting for?" Rainbow Dash flew over to the Demon statue, the dragon-looking one, and kicked it, knocking it over. It broke into pieces.
"No!" said Kefka. "What are you doing?"
Silverstream did an imitation of Rainbow Dash's kick on Goddess's statue, smashing it to pieces. Then together she and Rainbow Dash pushed over Fiend's statue, shattering it.
"My power!" said Kefka. "My godhood! I'll destroy you all right now!" He blasted Silverstream with a magic beam, sending her flying over the edge, a little too dazed to use her wings. Rainbow Dash quickly flew after her and caught her. When Silverstream was ready to fly again, they flew up to the Floating Continent.
Fluttershy and Sunset were looking over the edge until Rainbow and Silverstream returned. They turned around to face Kefka, but he was gone. They looked up to see the dragon flying in the distance.
"I'LL GET YOU NEXT TIME, PONIES!" Kefka yelled as he and his steed vanished from sight.
"Is the world being unbalanced?" said Fluttershy.
"No," said Sunset. "We stopped him from carrying out his scheme. And there are other sources of magic in this world, like the Crystals. But I know we haven't seen the last of Kefka."
Author's Note
I wanted to add more conversation and lighthearted moments between the MLP characters this time, I realized there wasn't a whole lot of that in the last two chapters.
