And, of course, as I do to most actually good things in my life, I was a jackass. So please: Snapple Jack, if you're reading this, I'm sorry. Give me a second chance, please. October 15 9:08PM: My mom told me to start writing a journal about my daily life. I decided to start today because of what happened yesterday. It had been just another day. I went to school, the girls and I made our quota of 3 failed cutie mark getting attempts, I did my homework, and I lead a meeting of the Rainbow Dash fan club. I lay out on my bed, wondering what to do. My name is Scootaloo. I’m 13 and I still don’t have a cutie mark. I know what it’s going to be, at least what I think it will be. Anyway, back to boredom. Dinner was in 30 minutes, and after that I have 2 hours until bedtime. Yes, I have a bedtime. It sucks, I know. I decided to take a ride on my scooter. That’s what my cutie mark should be, riding my scooter, but I’m still crusading. I crusade with my only friends, Applebloom and Sweetie Belle. I really should have more friends, but I just don’t. Everyone sucks except those two, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, and my parents. Yeah, my parents are pretty cool. All this thinking, which I really don’t like to do much, made me run into somepony. At first I couldn’t see him, being I was flying thru the air and all, but I could tell it’s a dude by the way he said “Oof” and how he sent me flying farther. I pay a lot of attention to such things. I never really liked boys; even if they were ever cute, they were big jerks. I can’t really fly, so I just ended up machine-gunning my wings into a lighter landing. As I land, I get a good look at him. He was really cute. I’d go as far as to say hot. I go to his side. Even if most people suck, you never know until you find out, so always help someone in need, unless you know they suck and the situation isn’t life-threateningly urgent. So anyway, he looked up with a weak smile. “Hi,” he said. “That really hurt. My name‘s Rain Chaser. What’s yours?” “Um… Uh…” I stuttered. I can’t really talk to people. “Um uh?” he asked sarcastically as he rose. “That’s about the strangest name I’ve ever heard.” “No, no. Um, I’m Scootaloo,” I said. I’m not supposed to give out any personal information to anybody, but I still think I can trust this dude. He’s nice enough, and my age, so what’s he going to do? Nothing bad can come of it, as far as I can see. “Well, I’m new here. I moved in down the street. I’m supposed to go to that Elementary nearby, I don’t know the name, but I know my teacher is Cheerilee or something” he explained. Wait… He lives down the street? But I live in the middle of nowhere! I thought Well, I don’t exactly. I live nowhere near anything but Fluttershy and the Elementary. Come to think of it, I don’t know the name of the school either. I don’t know if it has a name at all! “Yeah, I have Miss Cheerilee, too. But wait, down the street from me? I didn’t even know I lived on a street…” “Neither did I” he responded. But he pronounced “neither” wrong. “Well, I should be on my way” I shouldn’t have really been on my way. I should’ve stop to talk with him for a second… “Hey, you finish the homework yet?” he shot. Bingo, the perfect excuse “Yeah! You want some help?” “Most definitely!” “Okay then” I picked up my scooter with my mouth. “Whrr drr ymm lmvr?” I said with a mouthful of scooter-handle. “Wahaha! What?!” he laughed. I spat out my scooter with a loud “Pi-too!” “Sorry! Where do you live?” I giggled. “Just down the street here” Well, as we headed to his house, I decided not to ride my scooter. Besides, one of my riding legs was injured. I don't mean to sound like a pansy, but I hadn't looked at it yet. But it looked like Rain Chaser is doing that for me. "What... What did you do to your leg?!" he managed disgustedly. He looked like he’s going to barf. But instead of the instinctual looking down at my leg, I looked behind me. Now, sometimes there are these things called “episodes”, where Twilight turns off all violence and blood and stuff, even if for just 30 minutes or the unreasonable 3 months it took once. Unfortunately, this was not one of those times. A trail of seeping blood followed me, and then I looked down. I was bleeding profusely out the knee. And then I fainted. When I woke up, I was in a strange room. The bed wasn’t as soft as mine usually is, the furniture was all wrong, and there were Wonderbolts posters all over the room. It took me all of 10 seconds to realize that this wasn’t my room. I got up with a karate buck and a screaming: “If somepony doesn’t tell me where I am, how I got here, and who everypony here is right now I am going to start the pain!” I knew it’s over dramatic, but I thought that’d do the trick. “Whoa, whoa, Scoots!” said a familiar voice. Rain Chaser? “You bled out a bit. Calm, calm yourself.” Yep, that was Rain Chaser “She’s… Quite the character she is” says an unfamiliar female voice. “Scootaloo, these are my parents. Winter Breeze and Waterdrop” explains Rain Chaser I sat back down. “Oof, sorry. This has only happened to me once before” I lied. Thiat has happened twice, once with the CMC and another with a different scooter accident. I looked over; Rain Chaser was sitting next to a brown pony with a blue, spiky mane, and a light blue pony with a dark blue swirly mane. The brown one must be Winter Breeze and the other Waterdrop. “Nice to meet you. I’m Scootaloo, I live nearby” “We know. Rain told us everything” Cinnamon Swirl said “Can I call you Rain?” I turn to Rain Chaser “Definitely. I actually prefer it” said Rain Chaser. I guess I can call him Rain now. “Let’s get you back home” “But… But, homework?” “No, too late for that now” “How long was I out?” “Oh, about 3 hours” “Oh Celestia!! I was supposed to be home 3 hours ago!” I panicked “Oh, don’t fret, we called them!” explained Waterdrop “How’d you get their phone number?” I asked “Phone book” said Cinnamon Swirl quickly. Quickly in the suspicious way. “Okay… I’ll go now… See you at school, Rain” I backed out the door. I found my scooter by the door, coated in dry blood. I have to go to bed now. More later.

I’m allowed to stay up until eleven because I don’t have school tomorrow. Tomorrow me and the girls go crusading. I introduced them to Rain. They… Don’t much care for him, but he’s coming crusading with us! How cool is that?! Well, also, I got some crap from Diamond Tiara and her Minion. Her minion is Silver Spoon, but she’s more of a minion than a friend, so I call her “Minion”. So, anyway, those two and, surprisingly, Minion’s little brother Silverware ganged up on us while we were talking in the hall. “So, Scootaloo. You finally found yourself a coltfriend? I never thought an ugly filly like you could ever get one, but…” she stopped to get a good look at him. “…I see he’s equally ugly. I’m disappointed though. Associating yourself with an earthy” she spat hatefully and bucked him in the knee. Not too hard, but enough to make him fall. I began to back up. Silverware stopped me. I had known Diamond to be this hateful before. You see, “earthy” is the racist term for “earth pony”. Really, she could’ve been expelled for that kind of language, but I’ve learned not to mess with her. Thankfully for both of us, Ms. Amethyst Star, or "Ms. Star" as she likes to be called, walked up as she was backing me into the corner. She looked at the three of them, me standing in the corner, well, maybe cowering, Rain on the floor in pain, and magic-floated the three in the air. As Diamond Tiara's screams of "You can't do this! Do you know who my father is?!" After her screams of defeat on lawsuit threats faded into the principal's office, who is just Miss Cheerilee in a different room, I helped Rain to his feet. He limped on his injured leg to the nurses office. As it turned out, he just had a type of Charley Mare in his leg. A Charley Mare is a cramp in the back part of your leg or hoof. Named after Charley Rack, a griffon doctor that came up with names for all sorts of cramps, pains, and parts. I know that because science is one of my strong suits. "Owwww... Who was that?!" Rain groaned "Diamond Tiara. The school brat and bully" "Yecch. At my old school, the bully was a colt. Speaking of which, why would she call me your coltfriend?" "I have no clue. We're just friends, right?" "Right. And by the way?" "Mm?" "I don't think you're ugly" "I don't think you are" "But I am!" we said in unison. We then broke into fits of laughter. Nurse Silverstream walked in with a roll of bandages under her wing. "Alright, you're going to want to keep off that leg as much as possible. What happened?" she asked in a nasally voice. "Diamond Tiara..." he turned to me "... That's her name, right?" I nodded. "Diamond Tiara called me an earthy and kicked me in the leg" he explained. "Miss Star took her away to Miss Cheerilee's office" I added "That Diamond. She's sure to get expelled eventually. Cheerilee's letting way to much slide" Nurse Silverstream muttered as if to not let us hear. She failed. After school, I caught up with Sweetie on her way to Rarity's Fashion Boutique. Rain was with me. I had introduced him to Applebloom earlier. They both had the same reaction: "Oh, um... Nice to meet you, Rain Chaser" And he'd say the same thing to the both of them: "Nice to meet you! Please. Call me Rain. And you are?" And they were both hesitant with an answer. What's gotten into those two? I'm probably going to milk some answers outta them later. In fact, even Fluttershy was kind of nervous when we passed her on the way home. Well, she normally is nervous, but... More so. Like she was genuinely terrified of him. Except back that off a bit. I'm going to go clean off my scooter before bedtime. And possibly try to fix it. The wheel no longer aligns with the handle bars. More later.

I woke up first thing in the morning... Well, 10 o'clock, but... As soon afterwards I... Well, no, I had breakfast and lounged around a bit... I got up late and eventually went to crusade, you happy? Anyway, I went to get Rain first. He wakes up early, I should know. He once got up at seven, on a weekend! The colt is insane. After chilling and talking with him a bit we got Sweetie Belle. She lives in the city, which is a ways away, but not as far as Sweet Apple Acres, so I decided to pick her up first. There was room for one more in the wagon, and we always kept it that way in case we had a visitor. This one I hope to be permanent. Anyway, the Carousel Boutique was open, so it was a mess to get Sweetie outta there. Rarity not only was running 'round store like a mad-mare, but insisted Sweetie Belle help do... Whatever it is Rarity does. (Is it taking inventory or something? Do you even take inventory at a fashion store? Is it called a fashion store even?) Luckily, we were able to escort her safely out of the building with only a minor hustled nag from Rarity. She can be a pain, but I don't complain. She knows what she's doing and just because I'm not interested doesn’t mean I shouldn't like her. She's just a bit hard to like. "Hoo... Thanks for getting me out of there! Rarity is being really... Rarity!" she thanked "Really? I would've never guessed!" Rain said sarcastically. He can be very sarcastic. Well, at times. I chuckled. "No, I mean she's acting like herself, but times ten!" Sweetie exclaimed. She was obviously a little edgy after doing so much work. I don't think that Rain knew about Sweetie Belle's voice cracks, because he burst out laughing. Sweetie didn't take that lightly. "Hey! Shut up!" she screamed. And so he did. He turned to apologetic mode. "Oh, hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt anypony's feelings!" he said sincerely. Sweetie's face softened. "Okay. Fine. Sorry. I have a bit of a temper" "It's fine, I get that way too," "Okay, okay," The rest of the walk to Sweet Apple Acres isn't really embedded in my memory, nor the conversations, but they took the entirety of the 30 minute walk. Applebloom wasn't too pleased that Rain was there, but she didn't say much about it. Neither did he. And Applebloom had made a plan, which made me kinda disappointed, because I usually do that. The first thing on her list was to help Applejack, Applebloom's older sister, buck some apples. We had done this before, but had been pretty decent at it. And now we had some new techniques. I don't remember it exactly, but surprisingly Rain did very well. After that was helping a local carrot vender, Carrot Top, with advertising and junk. We made signs and rang a bell, Rain wore a sign with an arrow pointing to the store, to draw attention to it, and so on, it was kind of fun. But it was a Sweetie Belle original idea, so of course, she took charge of the situation. No offense to her, but she was never good with all the "artsey-fartsy" stuff. That's more of Applebloom's strongpoint. And after all these endeavors, she still doesn’t understand the concept of washing between brush strokes. I swear I could paint better the amount of times I've heard Applebloom give Sweetie instructions on how to! Rain and I did one together of Carrot Top holding a carrot with her mouth by the green, leafy part. She actually hung that one up, one that Applebloom did, and, I guess to be nice, put up Sweetie’s best one. It wasn't great, but it was her best. The next item on the list was Helping Pinkie at Sugarcube Corner. You know, for Pinkie, she wasn't very happy to see a new face in Ponyville. Almost as if she already knew him. Come to think of it, that's what everypony's been like as of late. Anyway, none of us were really cooks. We each made three muffins, it was a twelve slotted pan.. My three were green, Rains were burnt and shriveled, Sweetie Belle's were uneven and tasteless, and Applebloom's looked edible, but tasted like chicken feathers, bad lemons, and dirt. Pinkie just laughed and gave us all premade muffins. She bid us goodbye and went back inside. There was something off about it all. I still can't place my hoof on it. I already thought Rain was cue, but I think I'm genuinely beginning to have a crush on him. I told Applebloom and Sweetie, they were in hysterics! Sweetie said something along the lines of "You... You can't... What the hay!?" "I am allowed to have a crush on whoever I please" I responded "You're beginning to sound like Rarity!" she snapped. I recoiled. "Not exactly. Why are you guys so... Bleh about this?" "Do you know who he feathering is?" "Rain Chaser?" "Beyond that?" "Well, I don't like his parents, but..." "Forgeyut eeyit! You'll geyit what's comin' to ya!" shouted Applebloom and stormed off. Sweetie followed. Man, I've been dying to get that in writing. I just felt like I should tell you about my day. Oh, and by the by, Applebloom really talks like that. Dunno where that came from. Who knows. They haven't spoken to me since. I talked to Rain about it. He doesn't know what they're talking about. And his parents are getting weirder. It's hard to believe, I realize, but they did. When I knocked on the door, they answered. Of course, I was scared. They exchanged nervous looks and the dad ran back in the house, a door slammed, and the mom invited me in. As soon as I was inside everything was hectic and uncontrollable. Everypony was limiting conversation to a couple of sentences. There are more words in a Vinyl Scratch song than the words spoken between me and them. Yeesh. Well, Nightmare Night is coming up soon. There's a rumor that's been around since my mom and dad were foals that Nightmare Night was on the last day of October way back when. Even if it was, what matters now is that it's in a week and I still dunno what I'm going as! Rain is being a giant potato. I've seen the costume, it's pathetic. It looks more like the product of a dog having really spicy peppers, if you catch my drift. You know, Journal, I also wanted to write this down to see if I really think it's a good idea. You ready? Should I be more than friends with Rain? Should I ask him out? ... Nah! He'd want to stay at friends. It's as a wise mare once said: Darn friend circle! Well, time for dinner. More later.
