Rook (Book 1 - The Forever Blade)
Chapter Ten - Hearth's Warming Eve
Previous ChapterNext ChapterRook awoke the next morning in a plush and comforting bed, much unlike his own. He took a moment to blink the crusts of sleep from his eyes before taking in his surroundings. Light shone through the window that sat above the headboard, painting trickles of glimmering sun across the bedsheets. There was a warm, contented feeling in his chest, like all his life's worries had run away overnight. This feeling was accented by a rather dissimilar feeling of warmth against his side, which he quickly took note of.
A face was buried deeply in the pillow next to him, a warm smile across its face. From the forehead protruded a unicorn's horn, and around it were curls of lavender and faint pink. It took a rather long moment to dawn upon Rook that this was Sweetie Belle, asleep in his bed. Or rather - he surmised as he took note of more unfamiliar surroundings - he had fallen asleep in hers. This raised many awkward and uncomfortable questions for Rook which, after having such a good time the previous night and setting their relationship in order, he was not sure he wanted to answer.
Rook chose instead to carefully lift himself - rather grudingly - from the absurdly comfortable bed and make his way into the kitchen to prepare tea. Or something. He wasn't quite sure what he'd make but he knew it would not involve musing on the previous night.
