Shang Tsung, the sorcerous vanguard of doom, comes to Equestria and meets Chrysalis, the malevolent queen of the Changeling hive who had recently succeeded in conquering the entirety of Equestria.

He offers her the chance to fight for Outworld in the upcoming Mortal Kombat tournament and if she wins, Equestria will become a new ally for Outworld and her kingdom will enjoy an even greater prosperity. However, if she loses, she will be killed either in kombat or by the Outworld emperor Shao Kahn and her subjects will suffer without a queen to lead them. Also, if she refuses to accept this offer altogether, Shang Tsung will have to force her into accepting it.

While this could be the most difficult challenge Chrysalis has ever faced, she utterly despises three things more than anything else: serving someone else, making new friends, and backing down from a good fight.

All of the Mortal Kombat characters in this story are created by Ed Boon and John Tobias, and are owned by Warner Bros.

The story itself takes place in an alternate reality featured during the season 5 finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
