You didn’t want to be here.
The field was blanketed by a sea of bodies, some ponies, some changelings, and even some yaks and griffins were dancing, taking shots, or mingling with others while the music blasted at an ear splitting volume that made your bones rattle. It wasn’t that you were a racist, hell you couldn’t be considering the small fact that you were the only human in all of Equestria, it was simply the fact that you didn’t like parties.
You consider yourself to be extremely introverted and due to that fact, mass gatherings and parties and balls all made you cringe when you’d think of them. You looked back down at the scroll that had appeared in your room a little more than fifteen minutes ago.
‘Hey...could you come get me? I’m at Berry’s party in the quarry.’
- Flurry
It was simple enough, but as you had lived with Flurry Heart since the two of you were four years old, you knew when something was off with her. She never asked to come home early from a party, especially one that her crush was hosting, she was like the yin to your yang. You liked books and classical music and the occasional broadway musical or play, Flurry liked sports and hip hop and large parties. The question that was circling your mind as you pushed through the crowd was, ‘What went wrong?’
You managed to end up by the drinks table where you just had to take a quick whiff of the punch bowl to know that it was definitely spiked. As you stood there, you felt someone wrap their arm around your shoulders and you stiffen on impact.
“HHHHEYY! I know you!” A slurred male voice shouted in your ear.
“Hello Star,” You sigh, “how are you?” Star Whistle was one of those ponies. The ones that decided that it would look good if they were friends with you because you were a minority, it looked like they were throwing you a bone.
“Oh you know...stuff...hey, why don’t you come on out on the dance floor and we find a couple nice mares for you.” He slurred making suggestive eyebrows at you.
“No...no thanks.” You say as politely as you can, “But, I was wondering if you could help me. Have you seen Flurry Heart?” He throws back his head and guffaws loudly.
“Oh! I totally called it!” He laughed.
“Called what?” You asked as you scanned the crowd looking for a bubblegum pink and electric blue mane.
“You have a crush on the Princess! You have a crush on the Princess! You have a crush on the Princess!” He said in a sing-song voice. “Hey...do you think you’ll violate an insest law if you two bang?”
You level a glare at him that would’ve probably killed a cat. “For your information,” you say in an even tone, “I’m only here because a couple of minutes ago, Flurry sent me a message saying to come get her. So, if you could please point to the general area you last saw her so I could get out of here as fast as possible, I would be forever in your debt.”
Star blew some of his mane out of his face before responding, “Wow, you are really a buzz kill aren’t you?” He asks in a little bit of an annoyed tone.
“I’ve been called worse.” You say back as you look directly into his eyes, using the same glower from before “Now, about Flurry Heart,” You press.
He rolls his eyes and points towards the porta potties across from your current position. “Last I saw her...she ran into one of those.” He said flatly.
“Thank you,” You say as you pass him a glass of water, “try to sober up before you go home.” You say as you walk away from him. You are able to walk around the dance floor and approach the porta potties, as you do you think about Star’s accusation. You never typically let people, or in this case ponies, get under your skin, but something about his comment made you want to rip out his throat. Then again, you really didn’t like most of the jocks in your school anyhow.
As you reach the porta potties, you quickly find the only locked porta potty and you gently knock on it. “Flurry? Flurry, you in there?” You say softly.
You hear someone shift in the small confined space, “Yeah…” A small and feminie voice responds to you, “you get a ride for us?”
"If you mean five royal guards that escorted me here as a ride, then yes." You respond lightly. You had to think quickly when you got the note and, due to this, you hadn't really thought ahead.
She sighs and says, "I'm coming out." You hear a click as the door unlocks and she steps out into the pulsing lights emanating from some of the horns of the unicorns. You frown, something was definitely off with Flurry. The frown that was etched on her face, you had seen only once before and that was when she was eight and her dog, Max, had been accidentally hit by a carriage in the street. For a good week, that same expression that she was wearing now had been plastered on her face no matter what you did to try and cheer her up.
“What happened?” You ask as she looks around miserably, folding her arms across her chest.
“Can you just walk me home?” She asks quietly. You want to press her but you realize that this is neither the time nor the place. You wrap one of your arms around her shoulders and you two begin to walk towards the outskirts of the party.
Suddenly, somepony grabs your shoulder and holds you back. “Hey, where you going sweetheart? The party’s just starting!” A slurred voice asked me. I turned around and sighed, closing my eyes for a minute before looking dead in Berry Bright’s eyes. Berry Bright was a pegasus crystal pony with mussels on top of mussels, he was actually the quarterback of Crystal High’s Hoofball team and Flurry’s long time crush.
However when he started talking, you instantly knew he was talking to Flurry Heart and not you. She averts eye contact with him and mutters, “I’m going home Berry.” In a low voice.
“What was that?” Berry asks leaning in, causing Flurry to cringe back even further. Something was definitely wrong, Flurry was never intimidated by other ponies, especially brickheads like Berry Star. You knew it was time to step in.
“She’s going home Berry.” You step in and actually put yourself in front of Flurry. “She’s had enough of this party and she wants to go home.”
“Bah,” Berry said waving an arm, “that’s not true...Skyla loves parties!”
You roll your eyes at Flurry’s popular nickname and say with a twinge of annoyance in your tone, “Well, she doesn’t like this one. Come on Flurry.”
You turn to walk away but Berry turns you back around and grips your shoulders. “She’ll go when I say she can, its my fucking party.” He hisses at you, spit flying in your face, you can even make out some of that liquor that you smelled at the punch bowl on his breath.
“Berry, Berry let him go!” Flurry says in a panic trying to pry Berry off of you.
“It’s alright Flurry,” You say evenly as you don’t break eye contact with the clearly unstable Berry, “I’m sure Berry wouldn’t dream of attacking me, after all, I am a member of the royal family and there are five members of the royal guard just a few feet away,” You jerk your head to the right of you, where you could just make out five golden suits of armor fairly shimmering in the dark, “and if they were to find that I had been harmed in any way shape or form by him, they would be forced to arrest him and end the party which would look very bad, not only for him but his parents who are currently leading the fight to raise the legal drinking age. Imagine the headlines that would surface tomorrow morning, all of which would be about his alcohol fueled party as I have the newspapers wrapped around my fingers.”
As you were talking, Berry’s face had twisted itself into a mask of rage, hatred, and a hint of fear. After a tense minute, he finally lets go of you and whispers, “Get...out.”
“With pleasure,” You say but then glare at him, “if you ever try to pull something like that again on me or Flurry, I will personally make your life a living hell, you can count on that.” You threaten as you gently pull Flurry’s hand, and lead her away from the fury filled jock. “What in the name of Celestia do you see in these ponies?” You ask her as the two of you exit the party and manage to finally get away from the pulsing music and distorting lights. She doesn’t respond to you as the five guards form a circle around the two of you and you begin the long walk home.

The quiet symphony of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, you were currently mid way through spring, issued out of your gramophone and filled your darkened room as you read the latest Daring Do novel that was illuminated by the candle on your bedside table. You tried to get into the story and the action scene you were currently reading but your mind kept wandering back to your tense walk to the castle with Flurry.
The entire way back, you tried to get Flurry to open up about what had happened at the party that made her want to leave so quickly, but she remained silent the entire way home. The only time she had actually spoken to you was when you reached the castle and she quietly said, “Thanks.” and walked into the castle and up to her room where she’d been for the past two hours.
You wondered when your relationship with her had reached the point of fracturing. When the two of you were young, you were almost inseparable, wherever she went you went and vice versa. Cadence used to joke that you were the twin that Flurry never had, so you wondered why a few months ago she suddenly stopped hanging out with you. You two went from being attached at the hip to barely speaking to each other in less than ninety days.
As you were pondering the reasoning for this, somepony knocked on your closed door. “It’s open.” You say as you bookmark your page and set it down on the nightstand. The door opened to reveal none other than Flurry Heart standing in your doorway. She had evidently taken a shower and changed since you last saw her. Her mane was still damp and she had changed from a glitter filled dress into a pair of light blue pajamas that hugged her body just enough that you could see her well defined curves that came from good genes and her athleticism.
“Can I come in?” She asks quietly. You blink for a minute and then pat the space next to you on the bed. She walks over and sits down on the bed, not making eye contact with you. You both sit in silence for a minute as Four Seasons keeps playing in the background.
After a minute you break the silence, “So…” You say leaning back on your arms that were firmly placed on either side of you.
“Do you remember when you first landed here?” Flurry asks you suddenly.
“What?” You ask glancing at her who was still not making eye contact with you.
“Do you remember when you first landed here?” She asks again.
You nod, “Yes,” You say slowly, “I was four and a magical surge had whisked me away from my world and into this one. It was probably for the better, considering that my family had just gotten in a car crash and I would have died if I'd stayed there. I woke up on a field where Shining, Cadence, and you were picnicking and you found me and invited me for lunch.” You chuckled at the memory. “Then when Cadence pressed me on what I was and where I came from, I started crying because I remembered what had happened to my family and you walked right over to me and hugged me until I stopped.”
You noticed that while you were retelling your story, Flurry had stopped looking at the floor and was now staring straight ahead. “So, as you asked me a question, it’s only fair if I do the same. Why have you been avoiding me Flurry?” You ask softly. Flurry groans and puts her face in her hands, not answering you. “Flurry, remember our promise?” You ask her, “We swore that we would always have each other's backs and that no matter what we would tell each other the truth so could you please for the love of Celestia tell me why…”
“I was suppose to have sex with Berry Bright tonight.” She says suddenly and emotionlessly.
“You...what?” You ask with surprise in your voice. Why would she do the deed with somepony she seemed to be clearly afraid of?
She takes a deep breath and says in a low and tired voice, “A few weeks ago...I kissed Berry at a hoofball game and we’ve been seeing each other ever since.” She explains still looking straight ahead. “It was fun...to begin with...but I kept hearing this voice in the back of my head whispering to me that...I didn’t really love him, I was in love with someone else.” She glances at you momentarily before continuing. “So...I stopped talking with any of my colt friends and just focused on him...I thought that would make the voice go away but it just made it stronger.” She looked back down at the ground again, “So I jumped ahead, and I told him we could do it at tonight's party. I went in feeling confident, but when we finally got down to it...I couldn’t do it...I...it felt...wrong.” She shuddered, “So, I made him get off of me and he called me a tease and a slut and I ran to the bathroom where I was able to send you the message.” She kept looking down and you realize that a single tear was making its way down her cheek.
You reach over and wipe the pesky tear away and then turn your body so you could wrap her in a warm hug. She reciprocates the hug and closes her eyes as she rests her head on your shoulder. “Flurry,” You mutter as you rub her back in soothing circles, “you are not a tease or a slut, don't you dare ever let ponies tell you that. You're kind and sweet and vey beautiful.” She pulls back from your hug and you stiffen expecting her to question the last thing that came out of your mouth, but instead she does something you would have never guessed in a million years and she presses her lips against yours!
Your eyes go wide and you freeze as she holds the position for a minute before separating from you. Her light opal eyes search your shocked face and she looks down, her ears flatining against her head. “That’s why I've been avoiding you...I...I love you.” She whispers softly. You don’t respond as a million different emotions and thoughts are firing off in your head, the most important one being, ‘How the hell did I not see this?’ The mare that you’d been living with for now twelve years had a crush on you, the one that you went to see plays and sports games with, the one that helped you pass eight grade math when you couldn’t memorise the formulas, the same mare who had once taken a bath with you, (You two were five and you both had sworn to never talk about that memory again.)
The second most important question running through your head was this, ‘Do I love her too?’ You never denied that Flurry was beautiful because she was, hell she was the most beautiful mare you’d ever seen in your twelve years of you living here. On top of that, she was your closest friend...actually, your really only true friend, and she was the pony you trusted with your life. Then, there were those uncomfortable moments when you’d find yourself unconsciously checking her out when she’d walk in front of you...thank Celestia she’d only caught you once.
As you were assessing this in your head, Flurry’s head drooped and she stood up. “Forget it...let’s pretend like this never happened...i’ll see you in the morning…” She muttered as she turned to leave. Your hand instinctively stoots out and grabs her hand, “Hey, what are you…” She begins and yelps as you pull her back towards you and she lands in your lap where you pull her into a kiss.
She stiffens like you did but then leaned into it. Eventually you both had to separate with a slight squelching sound as you both gazed into each other's eyes. “Does… does this mean that… you—” She gasps slightly as you cup one of her cheeks with your hand.
“I love you Flurry Heart.” You say with a smile, “I’ve loved you for a long time.”
She immediately pushes herself against you for another kiss and this time you feel her tongue lapping at your lips and you tentatively open your mouth where your tongues collide and wrap around each other as you continue to kiss. Her breath tasted of toothpaste and mouthwash making it a whole lot more pleasant for you. She moaned as you gently touched the bases of her oversized wings, seriously even in her baby pictures they were huge, and massage them. The thing about wing joints were they carried a huge amount of pressure due to them being the only part of the body that held the pony in the air.
She quickly separated from the kiss and did something else you’d have never thought imaginable. She reached for the buttons on her night shirt and started undoing them! “Fl-Flurry!” You say in shock as she continues, “Wha-What are you…” And like someone put duct tape over your mouth you stop as Flurry undos the last button and throws off her shirt and you realize something...she wasn’t wearing a bra.
‘Oh sweet and merciful Celestia…’ You think stupidly as she lets you take her now naked chest in. She smiles, her normal cockneys returning in an instant. “Are you going to take that off, or you need help?” She asks, gesturing to your shirt. Like someone attached puppet strings to you, your arms quickly pull your shirt off exposing your nicely toned chest to Flurry. Her smile widens as she lightly pushes you on your back and crawls on top of you.
“Flurry, what are you…” You begin nervously but she silences you with another kiss, this one was much more sensual then the other.
“Telling the person I like how much I like them.” She says innocently as she separates from your lips and sits up on your crotch, smiling down at you with a slight blush appearing on her face, “If he’d let me.” You were already as red as a tomato and felt as though a pack of pterodactyls were flying around in the pit of your stomach. You had never done something like this before...but at the same time it was Flurry Heart...she’d never intentionally hurt you.
Another thought pops in your head, “But it's against the law,” You say, “we’re siblings.”
“Not by blood.” Flurry says rolling her eyes. “Besides, I don’t really care, do you?”
You decided, for once in your life, to go with your heart and you lean upwards to give her another tender kiss. She takes that as a no as she leans back down on top of you and you settle in for a long night as ‘Summer’ starts playing.

The sunlight streams through your windows. Your eyes slowly open and you groan as the cursed day star fills the window that was directly across from you and an annoying beeping noise fills the room. You turn to your nightstand and see that your alarm clock reads 7:00am, ‘Oh right...training with Shining.’ You think sourly. Your adoptive father was dead set on making sure that you could at least join the army if you wanted to, even though you had no intention of ever doing so.
You sit up and find something slightly odd, you are naked, this was odd as you never went to bed naked. You always at least wore a pair of boxers to bed so what were you doing...suddenly, last night comes flying back into your head, the party, the confession, and more importantly...why you were naked. You slowly turned over onto your other side to see an equally naked Flurry Heart still sleeping next to you.
‘Oh...shit…’ Your internal thoughts splutter. ‘That...that actually...happened…’ Your mind scolds you for a plethora of reasons, number one being that she is your adopted sister, number two being she was your friend, and number three being what her father would do to you if he found out. On the other hand, your heart betrays your mind as it feels nothing but warmth and love towards the gorgeous mare that you just spent an incredible night with.
You lay back down and wrap Flurry’s sleeping form in your arms, she was warm to the touch and soft as a teddy bear. “Flurry...Flurry, we have to get up.” You whisper in her ear. She shifts in your arms and moans softly as she looks up at you, opening her bleary eyes.
She smiles, “Wow...you actually did it...” She says as she sits up with you, the sunlight reflecting off her fur and creating a beautiful shimmering effect.
“What do you mean, ‘You actually did it’?” You ask slightly offended.
She laughs at your expression. “I thought it would have been way harder to get you to sleep with me!” She laughed, “I mean, you’re...well...you.”
“And what does that mean?!” You ask indignity as she snuggles closer to you, resting her head on your stomach area.
“You...well...you’re much more...cautious than every other pony I know.” She says matter of factly as she snuggles around you.
You chuckle as you lean down to kiss the top of her head, “That’s probably because I'm not a pony,” You say as she sits up and leans her head against yours, "It also helped that you cast that Contraception spell."
“Probably.” She says lightly and you press your lips against hers again and you two kiss again.
You separate after a while and you smile at her while she does the same. Then a new thought enters your head, one that fills you with worry. “What happens now?” You ask her seriously.
“What do you mean?” She asks looking at you curiously, you sigh and lean back against the headboard.
“We’re siblings Flurry, not by blood but by law. There's an inscest law that prevents this kind of relationship.” You remeber reading it for a school project a while back.
Flurry, not at all deterred by this fact, rolls her eyes, “We’re royals, Mom’s the Princess of Love and the ruler of the Crystal Empire, if we really want to be together, all she has to do is make an amendment to one of those laws that allows adopted siblings to be together.” She says seriously.
You blink, “That would mean that we’d have to tell Cadence and Shining.” You say in a small voice. While you dearly loved your adopted parents, you didn’t know what their reaction would be to you having an illegal sexual relationship with their biological daughter.
Flurry sighed, “We’d have to tell them even if it wasn’t illegal.” Your brian registers this as logical but that doesn't make you any less nervous.
“Okay...so how do we tell them?” You ask cautiously.
Flurry flips her mane back while she thinks for a minute, “Well,” She starts, “we obviously don’t tell them about tonight...We’ve been secretly together for the past couple of weeks,”
“And that’s why we’ve been avoiding each other in public!” You say excitedly.
She smiles, “Exactly, so no one would guess what’s been happening!” She says, “So at breakfast we’ll break the news to them.” She gets up off the bed and stretches out, “Speaking of which, you’ve got training with Dad.” As she talks you can’t help but stare at her as she does so. She notices this and slyly smiles at you. “See something you like?” She asks, giving you a small pose, making you furiously blush as she laughs at your expression as you cover your face.
“It's okay, I don’t mind.” Her voice says lightly as her hoofsteps reach back to the bed and she pulls your hands away from your eyes. She smiles down at you and pulls you up so you’re kneeling on the bed and your now eye level with her. “I love you.” She says simply.
“I love you too.” You say and you pull her in for a kiss.
Suddenly, your door opens and somepony walks in. “Hey slacker! You’re…” A deadly familiar voice starts and comes up short. You and Flurry jump apart and stare at Shining Armor, in full gaurd uniform, who just barged into your room!
His eyes are bulging and his mouth is wide open as Flurry, with the speed of a wonderbolt, pulls the blanket off your bed, sending you comically tumbling to the ground, and holds them in front of her. "DAD! KNOCK PLEASE?!” She shrieks. You quickly pull on a pair of boxers and stand straight up staring in horror at Shining Armor.
He stares at you and then at Flurry and then in a strangled whisper says, “We’ll discuss this at breakfast. Get dressed.” almost runs out of the room!
You look at Flurry and she slowly lowers the blanket before she looks at you, the both of you are wearing the same mask of horror. “Shit.” You say and at the same time she says, “Buck.”

You stare at the doorway into the dining hall like you’re staring at the ghost of King Sombra. You know what, more likely who, awaits you on the other side of the door. Your mind fevertenly reminds you that Shining Armor is a reasonable pony and is very open to negotiation. Your heart, on the other hand, is furiously hammering in her chest and reminding you of all the black belts that Shining Armor has in all of the possible forms of mixed martial arts and the small fact that he is also the Captain of the Royal Guard.
Suddenly Flurry Heart, now dressed in a light blue dress and pink pair of heels, comes up to you and grips one of your hands. “Hey, you ready?” She asks trying to keep calm but you can hear a nervous element in her voice.
“Nope,” You say in a strained voice. “you know that if we run now we can probably make it to Thorax’s hive by dinner.”
Flurry sighs at your comment, “I thought about that, but they’re my parents and your adoptive parents. We gotta face them.”
You sigh, realizing she’s right. “Hey,” You turn to her and pull her to face you, “no matter what happens, I love you.” You say and she smiles.
“Same here.” You give her a quick kiss and then you both turn towards the door and walk in hand in hand.
The scene before you immediately surprises you, Shining and Cadence are sitting at the table, already eating and laughing at some joke you two had just missed. Cadence makes eye contact with the two of you and she smiles, “Hi sweeties! How was last night?” She asks you and Flurry. Your eyebrows raise and you splutter as Flurry blushes furiously and looks down. Cadence laughs at your expressions, “See, I told you it was only a matter of time.” She says triumphantly to Shining.
“You knew?!” Flurry asks, letting go of your hand and steps forward looking incredulously at her mother.
“Oh honey,” She says shaking her head, “I’m the Princess of Love. I knew how you felt about him,” She motions towards you, “and I know how you feel about her.” She shakes her head and laughs. “Oh Celestia...It reminds me of when we first got together.” She reaches over and gips Shining’s hand.
“B-But,” You stutter stepping forward, “what about the incest law?”
Cadence looks at you for a minute with confusion before she perks up. “Oh! That law! I wondered why you were so nervous coming in here. Fleetfoot!” Cadence’s personal unicorn assistant walks over to her.
“Yes ma'am?” She asks professionally.
“Can you get me a copy of the Incestuous Act of 1878?” She asks, Fleetfoot’s horn glows for a minute and suddenly a stack of official looking papers appears in front of Cadence. “Thank you Fleet. This will only take a second.” She opens the booklet to a page and pulls out a pen, “Let’s see here, ‘Siblings may not pursue romantic relationships.’” She reads out loud but then puts the pen to her paper and reads outloud, “I’m just going to change that to, ‘Blood related siblings may not pursue a romantic relationship.’” She hands the booklet to Fleetfoot, “Make sure that all copies of this law now read that sentence.” She instructs Fleetfoot.
“Right away ma’am.” She says and teleports away.
Cadence then looks back at you, “Now then, what law?” she asks rhetorically. “
And...you’re both okay with this?” You ask motioning towards both Shining and Cadence.
“More than okay honey.” Cadence says happily, “You're both responsible eighteen year olds and I know you two would never dream of hurting each other."
You glance towards Shining who coughs and looks away. “Well...sure...it's love and all that...but I have to ask, were you wearing protection last night?” He asks cautiously.
“DAD!” Flurry shrieks her face turning as red as a setting sun, yours on the other hand turned beet red, and you gave him a quick nod.
“Yes sir.” You say sheepishly.
He nods, “Alright then. Always make sure you do.” He says before checking his watch and standing up. “Also, you get your butt down to the sparring room in ten minutes.” He says to you, before exiting the dining hall.
Cadence also checks hers and stands up as well. “Shoot, the Yaks ambassador...sorry, i’ve got to go as well.” She winks at us before exiting the room as well, leaving just you and Flurry Heart alone in the room.
You sit back in a daze, who’d have thought that when you decided to go ahead and pick up Flurry from that party that a mere twelve hours later, you two would be an official couple? You look at an equally shocked Flurry Heart who then smiles at you and grasps your hand holding you tightly, and you knew, in that moment, that you never wanted to let go of her.

Somehting to know about me, i'm a pretty inconsistent writer and as of right now, I don't do commissions. However, I love writing and I hope to be able to write more stories like this in the future.
