Chapter 1

Butterscotch was in no way worthy of calling himself a pegasus, the fact that he at times wished he could've been born as an earth pony instead really adds to it. The lack of wing strength on him mainly called attention to him, in no way was it good attention more of a wave of harassment coming towards him in tidal waves.

Most targeted his inability to fly at a more casual and fleet footed pace, though others were more prone to bring to light his other features. Such as, the way he looks as, most think that he is way too girly to be a colt and others think that he is too much of a wuss to be one, this caused a lot of hard days of flight school for the younger butterscotch.

Though trying to stick up for himself, the poor pony could never fight past that damning shyness that cursed him, from the start he was always known as the shy one. A introverted and submissive pony that could never stick up for himself.

This all added into the fact that butterscotch, at times wishes that he was a different pony one that was more outgoing and extroverted than what he is. His view of himself lessened and lessened throughout his childhood, with little to no friends butterscotch found himself in a bout of depression. One that would leave him prone to thinking bad thoughts upon himself, further sealing his fate.

Yet all this changed when he was able to make friends with the most boisterous and outgoing pegasus at flight camp, a filly named rainbow dash, though at the time butterscotch confused her for another colt.

A young butterscotch stood in front of his locker, collecting his things as he would usually do after school. Lightly strapping a saddlebag onto himself, he would let out a soft yet barely audible hum that filled the echoey room. He had finally caught a break, his after school activities had finished without any problems, able to at last collect his things and leave for his house without interruption from his tormentors.

Or so he thought, he would be too caught up in his own thoughts to notice the door softly creak open, a small group of older colts slowly and carefully stepped into the room. Softly chattering to one another as they all collectively focused onto the yellow pegasus.

A small flick of his ear would cause butterscotch to move his head from the inside of his locker and gaze over to his side, his facial expression quickly turning into one of fear and shock. The sound of a book falling from his gaping mouth would make him flinch back, much to the amusement of the group of colts.

"Hey butterscotch? Afraid of a little book!?" A gruff voice would suddenly call out from the laughter, making the uproar once again pick up. This would spark the others to let out heckles of their own "what a wimp!"

Their collective laughter and insults would make butterscotch's ears fold down and make him instinctively bow his head down, his soft voice suddenly speaking out.

"W-we don-dont nee-" only for his boutbof stuttering that he called an attempt at reasoning with them to be drowned out by the leader suddenly calling out, his mouth contorted into a grin "w-w-w-we- look at you! Cant even speak at the sight of another pony! No wonder everypony makes fun of you!" His show of copying how butterscotch speaks making his friends laugh once more.

Butterscotch would continue keeping his head down, his ears firmly planted against his head as he found no other place appropriate. His quivering lip would be hidden by the locks of his pink mane falling and covering his face partly.

He closed his eyes and hoped that these ponies would simply have their fill of maming fun of him before leaving him alone, hopefully without physical contact this time.

Yet he was sure mistaken once more, because as soon as he closed his eyes he could hear the collective sound of hoofsteps getting closer. His eyes would open and he would look up at the group, slightly taking a step back as the leader was now up close and personal.

"Anyways butterscotch...what did I tell you would happen if my boys and I caught you slinking around after school?" He would say while pressing a hoof into butterscotch's chest to expedite his point. The smaller colt would cringe at the painful memory, he would slowly nod his head, before finally raising his head and trying to justify why he was here.

"I.." butterscotch futilely tried to get his point across, to tell him that his club activities left him a little la-

His own thoughts would be rudely interrupted by a solid object colliding with butterscotch's muzzle, this would have enough force to drop fluttershy onto his back, the saddlebag dropping onto the floor next to him. The low moan of pain would come from the yellow pegasus as he placed a hoof to his muzzle, cringing and hissing at the pain.

"Wrong answer!" The cruel laughter would sound from above as the leader placed his red hoof onto butterscotch's stomach, causing him to try and squirm away. He would press it further as to make it more painful, his head turning to the side and nodding to one of the other ponies in his group. He had something planned for the yellow pegasus, a malicious one at that.

"P-plea-Agh!" The pained voice of the yellow pegasus would ring out in a futile fight against his aggressor, failing pitifully as he was once again struck by the same red hoof holding him down.

"Shut up! Did I say you could speak? Did I say he could speak?" He voiced to the ones behind him, who all nodded their heads in a collective vote of affirmation.

"Than why the buck are you trying to speak!" He would say while dishing out another strike against the defenses butterscotch.

"Spear" another voice would suddenly call out, the red coated stallion would turn over to a deep blue colored pegasus, grinning as he caught sight of the object in their hoof.

"Oh yeah..didnt I say I would shave you down if we caught you?" He said while taking the razor into his hoof, a devilish grin appearing on his face as he stared down at butterscotch.

"Hold him down.."

As the worst left his mouth, butterscotch panicked and tried to fight against the colts who now had his wings and hooves straddled to the ground, his heart beating and the tears nos falling freely from his eyes. He knew this would happen, if he wasnt so careless he could've gotten what he needed and gotten out. His thoughts would race as he stared up at the menacing red stallion, trying to speak against this.

"I-im sorry! Spearwing p-p-please!"

Spearwing, now having enough of the pegasus walked up to him once again and knelt down in front of him, pressing razor against the middle of butterscotch's barrel. He grinned at the yellow pegasus helpless cries and clicked the razor on, the loud buzzing overtaking his voice as he slowly shaved downwards.

"Oh you'll be sorry alright.. sorry whe-" his voice was interrupted by the loud banging of the door slamming against the wall. He sneered and turned to face the pony who decided to walk in-

"What in celestia's name are you all doing! Let go of him!" A loud authoritative voice called out, spearwings expression turned into one of surprise as he was now facing the tall and stern gym teacher. His face twisted into one of anger, he let the razor drop and stood up to try and reason with him.

"Listen, coach pulse it's not what it looks like!" He would try, before getting drowned out by the loud voice.

"Dont try and use that excuse on me! Its exactly what it looks like! Now I want all of you in my office! I swear to celestia I am so angry that I wish I could.." he drawled off before pointing towards them with a muscular hoof.

The group of colts all stood there for a bit before quickly letting go of butterscotch and quickly moving to and out the door of the room, lead by a just as quick spearwing. Butterscotch would curl in on himself once the hols on him was gone, the razor that laid on his stomach now sliding off and onto the floor, the buzzing mindlessly going off.

Tears would be profusely coming out of his eyes as he quietly cried to himself, haphazardly rubbing the spot that was shaved off of him during that dreadful event. He would ignore the gym teacher letting out a sigh as he spoke to another pony "Rainbow dash, please stay with Butterscotch until I come back..I've got to go and deal with those stallions..." he would finish off before his hoof steps retreated out of the room.

"Sure coach!" A scratchy tone would call out to the retreating teacher before the clipping of their hoofsteps neared the crying yellow pegasus.

Butterscotch would come to acknowledge the pony once their voice spooked him from the suddenness. "Hey.. are you ok? I'm sorry I didnt bring the teacher earlier" they would apologize. His eyes would open slightly and through teary vision, he could see the cyan colored pony sitting right next to him.

Letting out a small noise, he would close his eyes once again place his hooves in front of his face, in fear that this pony would taunt him too. "P-pl-.." he couldn't even finish his plea as his tears over took him, he now lay there balling his eyes out in front of a random pony, letting them see how pitiful he was.

The cyan pony would take a look at the crying pegasus form, something inside her usual laid back and confident attitude would cringe at the sight. "Listen..butterscotch, is it? I'm not going to hurt you.." she would finally manage to say before rubbing a hoof behind her hear.

"Please, the crying just makes me feel bad.. can you look at me?" She would ask, her tone quieting down to one that would not make the stallion panic even more than he already was.

Butterscotch would let out one more sob before his thoughts interrupted him, there was a chance that this pony was actually being truthful, yet there was also that chance they would make fun of him now that the teacher has gone. Yet, as he cracked open an eye and lowered his hooves to take another look at his cyan savior, he took in the look in her eyes and came to a decision.

Rainbow dash, now having been looking at the sobbing pegasus and taking in his form took notice of the colt looking at her from the corner of her eye. She turned and faced him, grimacing slightly as the yellow pegasus flinched at her movement, she shook her head slightly before holding out a hoof.

"There we go.. my names dash, rainbow dash! The fastest pegasus in equestria!" She would proudly comment to herself before giving a small smile and adding in "and, your new friend."

Butterscotch let his mouth hang open for a bit before his thoughts once again flooded his senses 'friend? Really? They want to be friends?' He would let the word hang in his head for a few seconds before lowering his hooves completely and staring at her with his tearful eyes. "R-re-ally?" He would hopefully ask in his soft and shaky voice, fearing that she would take the chance to deny and humiliate him as others did before her.

Rainbowdash looked at the colt and grinned, once he decided to look at her as she asked. She immediately took in how cute he actually looked, she shook the blush away before immediately retorting with "of course! Why wouldn't I? Everypony deserves a friend! And one just as cool as me!" She would say while holding a hoof to her chest

The yellow colt looked at the cyan pegasus with a look of astonishment, on the inside he was crying out with joy. Yet on the outside, he unfurled himself and pushed himself back up so he could look at the filly muzzle to muzzle, or rather muzzle to chest.

A small smile would form onto his face as he felt the tears coming once again, he leaned forward and wrapped his hooves around the mare in a surprising show of speed. He pressed his face against her chest before softly letting out a "thank you" before once again starting to cry, though this time in happiness. He had finally made a friend.

Rainbow dash, didnt expect the hug from butterscotch, better yet expect him to be so small! She was surprised at the sudden contact from him and immediately wanted to try and pushed him off before she heard him.

"Thank you"

Her cheeks reddened as she looked down at the stallion crying into her chest, she forgoed her usual appalment to situations like this and gave a grin. Before wrapping her hooves around him and returning the hug. "Your welcome."

On that day, a friendship was born-
