//-------------------------------------------------------// Paint My Love -by TasteDaRainbow- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Winter Surprise //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note Well, guess what. I was searching around and find this story in my notes! This is the story I made two months ago and I literally forgot about it. So, I published it to you guys and comments are really acceptable! Enjoy!! Winter Surprise I jump up from the bed, holding my chest while my heart's beating fast enough it could threatens to rip itself from my chest. I don't dream often, seriously. But when I do, the dreams are typically consumed by nightmares, or of things from home that I now miss so much. I miss all of you, really. But can you believe that your planet suddenly get attacked by freaking aliens from Mars and started to invade your home and killed your family? Well, that's the weirdest dream I've ever had since I got here. Yet, scary enough to almost shit myself while sleeping. Honestly, you don't want to see the aliens rip off your organs. Bleh, it's disgusting. Another glorious day in Equestria. Simply sitting on the bed, I grab my watch on the nightstand and take a look on the numbers. 07:48. I jump from the bed, grab a towel from the closet and in to the bathroom. After a few minutes of bath, I go to the kitchen and prepare myself some sandwiches for breakfast. I eat the sandwich with gusto and let out a burp as I sink myself to the chair. Huh, might as well to go to Applejack and ask her if she needs some help with the orchard. Good idea, I haven't thought about it. How I could communicate with my brain, well you guessed it. Magic. Fucking magic. The magic of friendship can cure everything! Taking my winter clothes and my hat - that's gifted from Rarity - on the door jamb, I open the door and close it. After locking it, I let out a sigh and closes my eyes. Taking a deep breath, I turn around and- "HEY!" "HOLY!" I jump at least two feet in the air in surprise and land on my ass. Hard. I rub my poor ass and hear a laughing sound in front of me while I let out a groan. "You... you should've seen your face, B!" A familiar voice says as it continues to laugh. I sit as I see a cyan pegasus rolling on the ground while holding her belly. Yep, me and Rainbow Dash have been best friends since the first time I got here. Heck, she's the one who found me in the first place when I suddenly got here and wounded. She immediately took me to a hospital and introduced me to her friends. Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, and Fluttershy. The so called the Elements of Harmony. Twilight Sparkle, the Element of Magic and the first pony that Rainbow Dash introduce me with. She has always been pretty formal with me, and it didn't take long before she started to annoy me with endless questions about... well, everything. Me, my species, my home world, and everything else she could possibly think of. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Twilight's number one assistant, Spike the little dragon. I thought when I heard the dragon thing he would be like a total badass dragon like humans always talking about. But they never mention he was a baby dragon. Applejack, the Element of Honesty, she's really kind with me and the pony who insisted me to work with her. I like her southern accent. Reminds me of home. Also, she's the most dependable pony I've ever seen. Rarity? The Element of Generosity, she is the one who examines my body very very closely. Which made me uncomfortable at first but she backed away after I explained to her humanities taboos on close contact upon the first meeting. The fashionista had made me some clothes to wear everyday but she keep telling me not to pay it when I was about to. Her eyes and voice were gorgeous. Reminds me of a British lady. Fluttershy, the Element of Kindness. The most timid one of course, you could guess it by her name. She had practically tried to hide behind her vast pink mane when I first shook her hoof. But we warmed up pretty well and fast. When I was back in the hospital, she often visit me and brought me her soup. Damn, it was so good. Pinkie Pie, the Element of Laughter. The most outgoing and excitable pony I ever seen. Heck, she throw me a 'Welcome To Ponyville' party when I was completely back in my condition. She had practically tackled me when we had first met, hugging me almost ferociously - like there's no tomorrow - while going on about we were going to become the best of friends forever and ever and ever. That's pretty much of it. Oh well, but if you are wondering why my name is B, is because I can't remember my goddamn name. It's funny, I could remember the fight, all of the things that I do in my fucking life before I got here but I can't remember my own name. I only - not really - remember the first letter, but it's between B or D. Not that I care much, it's obviously brain's fault. THE HELL?! Shut the fuck up and let me talk you dingus. I admit it though, it's pretty cool. All right, I think we're getting out of the topic here. It's been a month since I arrived in this colourful candy talking ponies. They have rulers, the Sunbutt and Moonbutt. They call them Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, but I prefer calling them Queen though. You know, much cooler. They're both sisters. Celestia controlled the sun and Luna controlled the moon. Celestia was kind enough to build me a cottage of my own and give me a generous stipend to help me settle into my new life here, but after about a month, I had to take matters into my own hands and get a reliable source of income. So, Applejack insist me to work with her, which I oblige with happiness. While I can't pull a cart loaded with several hundred pounds of apples as easily as a strong Earth Pony like Big Mac can, I can carry individual baskets around much faster and more efficiently. Life in Equestria isn't expensive by any means, but being a human in a world full of three foot tall ponies can make things pretty hard at times. From clothing to furniture, I don't think there is a single thing I own that wasn't commissioned or otherwise custom-made specially to fit my different needs. About Rainbow Dash though, the Element of Loyalty, who is still laughing, like I said, she's a cyan pegasus with rainbow coloured mane and tail. On her flank, a cloud with rainbow lightning coming out of it. It looks cool, though I thought at first it was a tattoo, but they explained to me that it's a cutie mark. It's their special talent, whatever they say, I didn't really pay too much attention on it. Like I said, it didn't take long for a friendship to form between us. Although I was introverted by nature, back on Earth, I had trained myself for years to try and be more social and outgoing, and although I wasn't always perfect at it, I certainly much better at it than I ever imagined I could be. Rainbow did not mind this at all, and she did not hesitate to strike up conversation with me or take me on in 'friendly' competitions of two-person sports. Dude, you remember the time when she accidentally kicked your balls? It was fun. Yeah. It's fun all right. Every so often, she would knock on my door and invite me to come with her to the park to play the pony equivalent of tennis or basketball, and other times when the weather did not cooperate, she would hang out with me right where I was. Her visits though, became more frequent as time went on. Not that I don't like it, her company seems to lighten up my day a bit. I get up from my sitting position and look at the rolling pegasi. I smirk and quietly sneak out from her vision. I hide behind a tree and quickly pick up some snow and make myself a snow ball. It's not long enough until the laughter dies. "Uhh... B? Where are-" SMACK! She yelp in surprise as the snow ball that I throw hit right on her face. "BULLSEYE!" I shout as I walk out of my hiding spot with a satisfying laugh. Rainbow however, didn't move a single muscle while laying on the ground. "Uhh... Rainbow?" She doesn't respond. Dude? All right, don't panic brother. She's breathing alright. Just give her a CPR... maybe? Shoot. I walk closer to her and kneel down as I grab her by the shoulder. "Dash? You all right?" I roll her over to see her face. And an evilly smile greets me, giving me more of my terrifying look. "Two can play that game," she says while getting up and her face is just inches away from me. I stare at her magenta eyes. Don't know why but it looks... beautiful? Shit... full retreat? With the speed of a Cheetah. You bet. And just like that. I immediately run away from the cyan pegasus. "GET BACK HERE!" I hear that voice and she's now laughing evilly. SMACK! I get hit from the back of my head, causing my hat to slip from my head but I quickly grab it. I stumble forward but quickly regain my balance and continue to run from the rain of snowballs. I see a fence in front of me and without thinking any further, I jump it; but I regret my decision immediately. I fall deep into the snow and the only thing is sticking out is my hat. "I love and hate snow all at the same time," I grumble to no one in particular, not caring the snow that is starting to fill my mouth when I speak that. I start to dig myself out of the pile. Harder than I thought it would be but I manage to get out of it anyway. Spitting out the snow that is still in my mouth, I look around and see Rainbow is rolling again on the ground while I dusting myself from the snow. "Alright, alright," she says as she wipe the tears from her eyes with one of her hooves. "So B, what do you have in mind today?" I shrug. "Meh, I don't have any planning for today. Just wanted to go to Applejack's and ask her if she needs some help." "Well, you wanna hang out with me?" She say with those magenta eyes and cute face. I put a hand under my chin and start to think. Does Applejack need our help? Please dude, it's winter. Sure she needs some help. But it's my day off. I know, but why wouldn't you help her? She's the one who volunteered to give you a job. You have a point there brain, but I can't leave my bro like that. All right, how about we just go hang out with Rainbow and then we go to Applejack's place after that. Sounds good to me. All right, I'll be off now. Yeah... wait, what? I'll be hibernating. How come brains could be HIBERNATING?! Just trying to adjust with my new life. Since we're not on Earth anymore, might as well to relax a bit. I know, but HIBERNATING?! Gotta go bro, see ya. Fuck you. "So?" Rainbow snaps me out of my conversation with brain. I blink and look at her, smiling. "Sure, that'd be fun." "Great! Let's head to the park!" She says with excitement. Adjusting her scarf, she gestures me to come with her. "The park?" I ask while following her. Somewhat, I'm not in the mood to go to the park now. "Y-yeah, you know... with all the weather duty, I feel kinda tired right now... and needed some company," she replies, nervously? "Sure buddy, you deserve some rest." I say while ruffling her mane. I could see her blushing at my touch but I think of nothing of it. We both walk together for a couple of minutes, making small talk as we get closer to the park. We pass numerous ponies who neither of us paying any attention to. Or at least until Rainbow's gaze meet a happy stallion and a mare, sitting together on a blanket and enjoying a nice meal. They're obviously a couple. Rainbow stop behind me, as her attention is fully focus on the two ponies. She watch them laugh, eat lunch and are all-around just happy to be around each other. I can hear as Rainbow exhales a deep sigh at the sight. Seeing that Rainbow is obviously distract by something, I turn around to face her and gingerly asks, "Something's wrong Rainbow?" "Y-yeah... I... I'm fine..." She replies with a sad tone. I never see her like this before. I was used to her competitive, cocky and fun personality, and this was not all of it. There is obviously something bothering her, and I am going to figure out what it was. So I begin, "Rainbow, I can definitely tell something is bothering you. What is it? You know I'm here for you." Rainbow seem like she's about to say something before she quickly stop herself. "Nevermind, you'd think it's stupid anyway." "If it's bothering you this much, then it's definitely not stupid," I reply, trying to convince her to open up. Rainbow look up at me with an appreciative grin before taking a deep breath. "Okay, but you better not be laugh." "And why would I?" I cross my arms and give her a warm smile. "You know who I am, Dash." Hesitate, she look at the ground while rubbing one of her hoof with another. "W-well, there's this stallion I like, and I'm just worried he doesn't feel the same way about me." As soon as Rainbow says that, I burst out laughing. "You said you wouldn't laugh!" She shrieks, anger present in her eyes. "I... whew gimme a moment." I try to regain my breath while pointing my index finger up, though it didn't seem to work but I tried anyway. "But that's just so ridiculous." "And why is that ridiculous?!" She responds furiously. Taken aback by her sudden burst, I force myself to shut down the goofy smile on my face. "Well, I'm just not sure why you'd be worried about something like that. You're one of the coolest ponies I know, and I think any stallion would be lucky to have you." Rainbow's raging gaze disappear, replace by a coat of blushes that covers her entire face red. "Oh..." Is all she able to mutter. A long silence exist between the two of us, so I decide to break it up. "So... who are you planning on asking?" I ask her playfully with a grin. It was still a little bit strange to me that in Equestria, gender roles seemed to be flip. Mares were the more commanding and protective ones in a relationship, who had to ask out the stallions and follow similar cultural norms to that of men back on Earth. Twilight explained this when we first started discussing the societal differences of Equestria and Earth. Twilight had mentioned that a big reason for this was Equestria's ratio of mares to stallions which was overwhelmingly dominated by mares. "A... special stallion..." Knowing that it will be hard just to have her tell me the stallion's name, I decide to push aside the question for another time. "Maybe you can tell me at the park." Rainbow pause for a moment, she places a hoof under her chin. "Maybe... it depends how I feel." She replies with a smirk. She seems to cheer up a bit. Giving me satisfaction that I had inspirited my friend. I shrug and continue to walk with hands still inside my pockets. Damn, it's freezing out here. "Come on, you said that you were tired." "Yeah... right..." With that, me and Dash continue our trek to the park. We walk together in an awkward silence. Soon, I spot a bench underneath a big tree and walk to it. As I sit down on the bench, I pat the open spot next to me and Rainbow slowly climbs up and sink herself to the bench. I sigh blissfully as I closes my eyes while smiling and feel the warm sunlight through my body. I could hear Rainbow mumbling something but it didn't loud enough for me to hear it, so I decide to ignore it and continue to relax. The wind here is so freezing but relaxing at the same time. After a few minutes of silence, Rainbow scoots closer to me, which I open my eyes and give her a questioning look. "It's c-cold... okay," she replies sternly. "It's not a bother, really." I chuckle while taking off my jacket. I wrap it around Rainbow and before she could respond, I wrap an arm around her shoulder and bring her close to me. A small squeak of surprise escape from her mouth until she lets out a satisfied sigh. I sink myself again on the bench and closes my eyes. "Hey, B?" "Hmm?" "Have you... found the mare of your dreams yet? I mean, are you planning being with one of them?" Once again, I open my eyes and look at her. "Are you asking if I'm interested in somepony?" She replies with a single nod. I look up to the cloudy sky. I let my mind doing on it's own accord until I open my eyes, still looking at the sky and a smile form on my face. "Maybe one day, Rainbow." I look at her, still smiling. Just then, I realize just how red her cheeks are. She's blushing uncontrollably, turning her cyan fur into a rosy colour. "Uhh... Rainbow?" Before I can react, she press her lips against mine. My eyes widened at the inevitable. Probably my heart is beating rapidly until a hundred beats per minute. HEART?! HEART TALK TO ME!! SHE CAN'T TAKE IT!! GET ON IT!! So many thoughts run through my head, but they are nothing in comparison to the intense embrace of Rainbow's vanilla-tasting lips. You're being kissed by a rainbow maned pegasus! That pretty much answers proves my sanity and I vow to visit the psychologist later. The feeling of pure bliss last for only a few seconds before she pull herself, still blushing furiously. I still couldn't believe what just happened. Not only that my best friend kiss me, but a PONY kiss me! Yet, it seems so... right. The confusion and shock on my face is evident, as Rainbow speaks up, "I-I'm guessing you weren't expecting that." I just shake my head, a look of true bewilderment still present on mine. "Well... do you like it?" Do I like it? She tastes good though. Reminds me of Haagen Dazs back on Earth. And frankly, vanilla is my favourite. I slowly nod, still struggling to speak. Her smile widened. Giddily, she asks, "So, does that mean... will you be my stallion?" All right. I freeze, everything from today making sense. I am the so-called 'stallion' she was interested in, reinforced by the kiss we just shared. But then, I begin to slowly processing her question, trying to figure if it is wrong to date a pony. It seems like everything that I had grown up around on Earth told me that it isn't right. Then again, I'm not on Earth, I'm in some magical land of talking ponies where one wanted to date me. As ridiculous as it might be, she loves me! Sure it's weird, but what’s wrong with being weird once in awhile? Rainbow is growing uneasy at how long it's taking to answer her question. Concern begin to wrap around her face. She need a response and quick. I snap out of my train of thoughts and look at her. "I... I love you Rainbow." I manage to let that out. She looks at me with an expression of both happiness and shock. "Y-you do? You really mean that?" She begin to tear up. "Yeah... I do. I admit, the whole pony thing will take some getting used to. But, who cares? I love you, Rainbow Dash." Her eyes close slowly, and tears start to fall down her face, although her smile is still present on her lips. The same lips that are now moving towards mine slowly. I close my eyes and accept the reality. I love this pony, and I no longer care about what her body looks like, but who she is inside. Sparks fly as my mind explodes with pure joy and bliss as our lips meet again. We separate for a minute to catch a breath. The girl that I love wrap tightly in my arms. I hug the beautiful mare before staring into those big magenta eyes that I fall in love with. She leans over and whispers something into my ear. "Thank you... I love you." She manages to let our before starting to sob. I chuckle warmly as tears starts to running down on my own cheeks. I hold her there, in that freezing snow, no matter how cold the winter is. But the burning passion inside my chest keeps me warm. I feel Rainbow's wings starting to wrap around me, giving me even more warmth as we hold eachother tight. I sit there, in my favourite park, holding my favourite mare, enjoying my new favourite memory. Good job my friend. I whisper one last thing to Rainbow before pressing my lips against her's one more time. "I love you too."
