The night was silent. No crickets, no wind and no villain trying to destroy Ponyville. Then suddenly...
*BANG*
A powerful blast ripped through the sky. The light it created was brighter than the sun itself and the loud bang may have awoken every single one in Equestria and beyond. Then just as quickly as it appeared it disappeared. Most of those who was rudely awakened shrugged it off and went back to sleep while others stayed awake to try to locate the source, but they were too tired at the time. What nopony noticed was that just a few meters outside Ponyville a house had appeared. The property was surrounded by a fence, the lawn was mowed, the windows were clean, and it looked like it was just painted. It looked brand new. Close to the entrance of the property was a sign with two simple words written on it.
High Hopes
Dawn broke through the darkness of night as the stars faded away and the moon disappeared in the horizon.
The silence of the morning was suddenly broken by gasps of shock and bewilderment. A large crowd was gathering to get a good look at the house that just appeared overnight, but no one dared to walk up to the building or even step inside the garden.
Twilight was sleeping peacefully when the sound of a few dozen ponies knocking on her door rudely woke her up. Once she got her mane and tail groomed and got dressed, she walked down to the door. She opened it to find a large crowd of ponies standing outside the library.
"Princess Twilight you have to see this!" one of them said.
"There is this house barely within the area of Ponyville that came out of nowhere during the night." another said.
Twilight was confused by what they were saying and went to gather her friends.
First stop was Sugarcube corner. The door was open, so she walked inside.
"Hey Mr. and Mrs. Cake. Is Pinkie Pie home?" she asked as she reached the counter where Mrs. Cake was welcoming her.
As if on cue Pinkie almost literally flew down the stairs.
"Hello Twilight! Did you see that giant explosion last night? Did you?!" Pinkie said bouncing up and down like a rubber ball.
"Yes Pinkie. I did and we are going to investigate what happened." Twilight answered.
"Okey dokey lokey!" Pinkie answered bouncing out the front door with Twilight walking behind.
Next stop was Fluttershy's cottage. Twilight knocked at door and after a few seconds the door was slowly opened.
"Oh, H-hey girls..." she said shyly as her hair partially covered her face.
"Hey Fluttershy. Would you mind investigate what caused that large explosion last night with us?" Twilight asked.
"Um...I could. I-if it's okay with you..." Fluttershy answered.
"Great. We just got to go get the others and then we'll check it out." Twilight said as she began walking back to Ponyville to find Applejack. Pinkie and Fluttershy following close behind.
Applejack was walking around town carrying a few crates full of apples when Twilight found her.
"Howdy do Twi! How ya'll doin'?" Applejack said and put the crates down.
"We're doing fine. We are going to check out what caused that big explosion last night. You can come too if you want to." Fluttershy answered quietly.
"Ah'll gladly come. Ah lost an hour of sleep because of that explosion." Applejack answered.
"Good, now we just need Rarity and Rainbow Dash and then we'll go investigate." Twilight said as the group walked towards Carousel Boutique.
Rarity took a little longer to convince because she was in the middle of making a new dress, but Twilight told her that if what the locals said was true then she could bring the sewing kit with her to which she agreed.
Next up was Rainbow Dash. Since she lived in a house made of clouds Fluttershy had to fly up there to ask her to come with. As they all suspected Rainbow Dash came out almost immediately ready to investigate.
They walked through town and spotted the large crowd.
The mysterious house was located on the opposite side of Ponyville and was very well placed when it came to the view. The mane 6 entered the property and walked around to get a good look at the house. It had three floors with a wide roof, on the front side of the house three windows was sticking up from the roof, the left side of the house had quarter moon windows on the third floor making them look like eyes looking down at them, it had pool big enough to fit a family of seven in it and a fairly big garden.
The mane 6 moved to the front door and Twilight gave it a careful, but firm knock. At first no one answered, but just when they were about to give up the door slowly opened. The door revealed a beautiful interior. The mane 6 stepped inside and was so captivated by the interior that they didn't notice the door slowly closing on its own. When the door closed completely the doorknob rolled 180 degrees around locking it and making the cross on it turn upside down. The click of the door locking fell on deaf ears and none of them realized that they were now trapped in the house known as High Hopes.
A/N: Well this was fun to write. I think this came out well and if this gets positive feedback I may make a sequel.
This story was inspired by The Amityville Horror and if you know nothing about it here is the storyline:
In 1974 a man named Ronald (Butch) DeFeo jr. shoots and kills his entire family while they're asleep. Roughly one year later, The Lutz family moves into the same house the murders took place. Strange phenomenon begins happening throughout the house, the youngest daughter 'Missy Lutz' begins playing with an entity named 'Jodie' (who is actually a demon), the father 'George Lutz' wakes up almost every night at exactly 3:15 AM (the time the murders took place), a green slime like liquid comes out of the walls (changed to blood in the movies), a crucifix in the living room is turned upside down before the family's very eyes, the toilets fill with a black substance and some of the rooms swarmed with flies (even though it was December) just to name a few. After 28 days of paranormal activity, the Lutz family runs out of the house and never return.
The Amityville Horror is based on a true story.
