Life With a Rainbow
Chapter One: Early Morning Music
Load Full StoryNext ChapterA/N: You asked, and you received. Enjoy, because like before, I wrote this at two AM. I also wrote this listening to ’The Day’ by Sonata Arctica and I thought ‘Why not throw them in here?’ So I did. Enjoy! :D
Rainbow Dash yelling “Hey come on wake up!” is your alarm clock this morning. You look at the time, and yet again, it says Mo – 4:07 – AM. Only this time, a new picture is with it on the nightstand. It’s a picture of you and your marefriend Rainbow Dash, on your first date near the Whitetail Wood. After the whole ‘Wonderbolts’ incident, you found her sulking on a cloud, and it connected there.
‘Not this again…’ You think to yourself, becoming annoyed with Dash for waking you up again on a Monday at Four O’Clock in the morning. You’re silently wishing that you were just having one of those dreams.
All that was heard was the constant slamming on the door. “C’mon, Gust, get up! I need to ask you something!” you hear Dash yell; She’s the one pony in Ponyville who can sleep on a cloud for fourteen hours a day and still get eight hours of sleep, and here she is at four in the morning.
“Dear Celes- Rainbow, you don’t need to knock anymore, remember? I mean reall-” That’s as far as you get before she barges in, almost tearing the cloud-door off its hinges. That would be the third one you had to replace. While it may be her house legally, you still had your own wing added after a few years after the two of you knew each other.
“Well g’morning to you too,” you mutter under your breath.
“Well you look great,” she starts, looking you over. You had a major bed head, and your eyes were puffy from lack of sleep. “What did you do, fly through a tornado overnight?”
“No,” you begin to reply, getting a small smirk on your face “I had a hyperactive mare come flying into my room at four AM. But hey, I don't have a choice there. What do you need, Dashie?”
“What would you say if I told you that I just happened to obtain tickets to Sonata Arcticolt’s Ponyville tour?” She asks, looking excited and expectantly at you, locking eyes. Sonata Arcticolt is your favorite band ever.
“Normally I’d call you a liar, but the two of us,” You remember her bringing your attention to her Wonderbolt audition papers. “have a knack for good things happening at about four AM. So you really did?” You suddenly got much happier.
“Hay yeah! The tickets are for…” She puts a hoof on her chin. “Next Friday, I think.” She says.
A gust blows through her rainbow mane, making her shiver. “How do you live with these windows open?” She asks, moving towards the window to shut it.
“Don’t even think about it,” You say, stopping her. “I like it cold. It keeps the blood flow going. Helps me think. Plus, do you know me? You know, Frozen Gust? The name kind of gives my preferred temperature away.”
“It’s still freezing…” She mumbles, starting to shiver a bit.
“Ah c’mere, Dashie. Get in here.” You tell her, gesturing towards your double bed. “We can’t have you freezing to death, can we?”
“Yeah, sure, I have weather patrol over Sweet Apple Acres tomorrow by myself again.” She says, looking at the clock, Mo – 4:11 – AM “In three hours.” She climbs in, next to you. “G’night, again.”
“Heh,” You chuckle, “Night Dash.” You can feel her back rising slightly as she breathes. Her mane has a few loose hairs that get right up your nose and tickle it a bit, but not enough to bother you. This was the first time you had slept together, and it was paradise. You had a warm bed, your marefriend, and the most secure house you could think of, floating 100 feet above ground.
You wake up after falling off your bed. You mutter a few obscenities, get up, shake yourself awake, and look at the clock. Mo – 6:17 – AM Dash is not with you, and her half of the shared bed was left unmade. Typical Dash. You fix it up and head downstairs, to find her at the oven, with some toast and a muffin. “I made you breakfast, come eat.” She beckons. You comply, and take a seat across from her.
“Well that was nice of you,” You start, while unwrapping the muffin from its paper prison, “I’m surprised. You never do this.”
“I was feeling generous. I’ve got to go soon, check in with Cloud Chaser and get the schedule for today.” She says, getting up and putting her trash and dishes away. “I should be home by six. Try not to destroy the place?” She looks at you, raising and eyebrow and smirking slightly.
“Is there ever any doubt? Don’t worry, I’ll keep the place going.” You wave a dismissive hoof, “Just do me a favor, though.”
“What’s that?”
“Tell Applejack I say thanks.” You hadn’t seen her since a week ago, when she told you where Dash had flown during her upset with the ‘Bolts. “She’ll get what I mean.”
“Okay, sure thing. Well, I’m out. See you later, kid.” She calls, leaving. She used your old nickname. Even though you were only one year younger, she still insisted on calling you that. At least it didn’t stick with anypony else though. As far as you knew, there was only one other filly she called ‘kid’.
“Oh I hate you so much for that.” You mumble. After stretching your wings you decide to fly down to Ponyville to get some shopping done. You walk into your room, and your clock says it’s 6:30. Most shops are closed now, but some are open. You grab your wallet of bits, and accidentally knock over your picture of your family. You right the photo, and head out, locking the door behind you. After the click is heard, you head down, soaring at a decent speed.
You head down to Ponyville, and you see the basic shops opening up. Big Macintosh, Applejack’s brother, has the stand today, and Carrot Top takes up stand across from him. They both exchange a nod of acknowledgement, and begin the day. You decide to stop by Big Mac first. You land about ten feet from the stand.
“Hey Mac,” You greet him, “Just starting the day out?”
“Eeyup.”
“Fun times. Well, I’ll take a dozen apples.” You say, handing him the bits. After years of buying from the Apple family, you know the cost of a dozen apples.
“Eeyup.” He says, deadpanning, and hands you the apples, which you put in your saddlebag.
“Well see you later, and Dash says hi.” It was fairly public information the two of you were together now, thanks to Rarity.
“Now then,” you say, looking at the substantial list you have to fill that day, “Let’s go shopping.”
A/N: Well, another story written in the wee hours of the morning. Sonata Arctica keeps me up. (Or is that the chocolate?) Regardless, this was a preliminary chapter. As requested, here is a sequel to ‘Eyes’. This was to see who liked it, and who didn’t, and so on. In the beginning, the scene where 'You' take her to bed, There will be NO clop at all. Please rate as critically as possible, and let me know in the comments if I missed anything spelling-wise or grammatically. Next chapter is when school allows. Can’t help that. As for now, I’m hungry, so I’ll end it here. Have a nice school year if you’re in school, and if not, you lucky bastard!
