On the morning of December 16th 1944, Private Jimmy patterson of the office of strategic services is called into the briefing room for a chat with colonel Hargrove.
"Good morning lieutenant patterson. Its a pleasure to see you again. Im dreadfully sorry to wake you up so early, but our operatives in the French resistance have discovered something that needs our full and immediate attention. Now, there's still a pocket or two of Whermacht garrisons that have been tracked to the Pyrenees mountain range. Most have been killed by the elements, wild animals or the pursuing French partisans.
But thats only the good news. The bad news is the survivors have taken refuge in a small French village, but I should point out the term 'refuge' a vast understatement. Manon Baptiste, who is leading the partisans, has reported numerous accounts of the troops looting food, and any valuables, forcibly demanding the villagers to reveal if there are any resistance cells nearby, and even executing anyone that refuses to cooperate on the spot! I shouldn't have to tell you the seriousness of our situation.
However, there is SOME good news. Some of the French scouts have reported distressed villagers being rescued by a mostly unseen force. Oftentimes whenever Germans are harassing them, the soldiers would immediately get attacked by this force, usually dragged away out of our scouts line of sight.
We plan on sending you in via C-47. Parachute in on the outskirts of the village, then make your way through and rid the citizens of these pests! Manon and the rest of the Maquis will stay outside the village. A full-blown fire-fight between the resistance and Whermacht will only result in more deaths. One last thing. The scouts with sharp eyes have noticed the silhouettes of 6 equine-like animals roaming throughout the village, and reportedly heard the shouts of English-speaking women around. Their likely female SOE operatives. If you can, meet up with them and save the village. Good luck"!

The sudden impact of the ground under his feet gave patterson quite the jolt. Now he knew how it felt to be the paratrooper rather than the pilot. He was just grateful German AAA emplacements weren't around. That would have made the jump all the more frightening. He unhooked his chute and went over his supplies: M1 Garand self-loading rifle, M1A1 Thompson submachine gun with a 20 round box magazine, M1897 trench shotgun, Colt .45 semiautomatic pistol with silencer, M1903 Springfield sniper rifle and Mk. 2 fragmentation grenades. He looked towards the outskirts of the village and proceeded through the surrounding woods, hoping to hook up with these mysterious spies.
