Friendship residential care homes
It was just another typical day for Pinkie Pie. She went to work as usual, but instead of working at Starswirl Academy for the disabled. Where she had been working for the last two years now. Determined to bring smiles to those who needed them the most. She went to work at the friendship assisted living facilities in Rockville Hill, a small town on the other side by a big pony shaped lake on the other side of the ever free forest.
Ponies from all over came to Starswirl Academy once they were done with their school years. They would move into the friendship assisted living facilities which provided them with the much-needed care some ponies needed. Such as behavioral counseling for the many autistic students that would come to the facilities.
Not only adults would come to the facilities but also children who just stayed there the night so their parents could rest easy for one night.
Because as Pinkie Pie was soon to discover it wasn’t easy taking care of so many disabled ponies, but especially not a severely autistic 18-year-old who had just finished school and was making the transition from school to the assisted living facility.
From outside, the assisted-living facility looked like a hospital with its big double doors that slide open every time a pony would enter and exit the assisted living facility. but on the inside, it looked pretty standard and very, very inviting. the colors of the walls were very bright, there were a lot of pink and orange-tinted walls along the hallway. Upon entering, anypony would see at the end of the hallway a big picture of Princess Twilight who established the facility not long after her coronation to Princess of Equestria.
The assisted-living facility was only one floor so that ponies in wheelchairs didn’t have to use an elevator because there wasn’t any elevator in the building itself, the architects apparently didn’t think of putting an elevator inside the building, so they made it one level. There were many many rooms, the doors of the rooms were also very colorfully decorated, with wooden pictures of small animals on the door itself.
The assisted-living facilities were in three different buildings, and Pinkie Pie was to start work in the autism center, which was the greenhouse with the high fence around the house, Pinkie Pie thought that it was a little disturbing at first, but then she saw the colorful paintings and pictures outside hang across the fence.
Then there were care facilities such as specially made bathrooms for ponies who had difficulty using that room.
Pinkie Pie walked into the kitchens of the Autism Center. Set for a good morning of baking as she planned out her day of fun-filled activities. Her job wasn’t always so easy. Disable ponies always seemed to have a perpetual gloom about them, but she was determined to bring them smiles. She was getting things ready when a knock on the delivery door caught her attention.
Trotting over to the door, she found herself face to face with a friend she helped bring many smiles to several years ago.
“Kohaku!” Pinkie Pie exclaimed excitedly as she threw her legs around the shoulder of the teenage kitsune. Despite being nearly eighteen years old, he stood around 5 feet tall. Nearly even with his adopted brother Big Mac. After being hugged back the two stepped back a bit as she smiled into his bright liquid amber eyes. “How are you doing, you look amazing.”
Kohaku dressed up in his natural delivery outfit. A cowboy vest, a set of denim shorts, and a stetson hat. Around his neck was his signature storm grey bandana with a special brooch pendant on the knot. A bright green apple with three tails surrounding it. Topping it all off was a clipboard swinging from one of his three tails.
“Thanks Pinkie,” Kohaku said with a chuckle. “So how are you, how’s your job going?”
“Great, it’s tough and difficult sometimes, but I’m having the bestest of times.” Pinkie replied with a smile.
“I’m glad to hear it, well I don’t have much time. We have your order ready. Oniisan is unloading it in the main kitchens right now, but they told us you’d be here so he sent me.” Swinging his tail around he brought the list to his eyes. “Lets see we have the following;
Twenty five Apple Pies,
Twenty bushels of ripe Sweet Apple Acres Apples,
Fifteen jugs of fresh Apple Cider,
Ten jars of Apple Jam,
Five jars of Zap Apple Jam,
And a Partridge from a pear tree.”
“That’s it, betcha can’t tell why I wanted the partridge.” Pinkie said with a giggle
“You’d be right there, but the partridge wants to know. He doesn’t understand why he’s being dragged all the way out here.” Kohaku chuckled.
“Well I plan to give him as a pet to a very special young boy who’s having some trouble.”
“I see, well, I hope he enjoys his new pet.” Kohaku said handing the clipboard off to Pinkie who signed it and sat there as Kohaku swung another tail around that held the silver cage with the bird in it. “Well I have to get going. You enjoy yourself. And don’t work too hard.”
“Okie Dokie Loki!” Pinkie exclaimed with a happy smile and showed the fox to the door. “Have fun, Kohaku. It’s nice seeing you again.”
Pinkie Pie had barely closed the door to the outside when a blur of brown and red and a little bit of yellow burst into the kitchens and zoomed past Pinkie Pie. The blur of brown-red and a little bit of yellow was followed by a pony that Pinkie Pie presumed to be the aide or one of the staff members.
“Hey, Jerry, ye better get back here, remember the rule no runnin’ ye hear, lad!” The pony who was chasing Jerry shouted in a very thick Irish accent.
“No running!” Jerry yelled out as he sat down on the floor and put his hoofs over his ears.
“Hey, please don't be upset,” Pinkie calmly said as she sat down on the floor next to Jerry.
“Well, you know a lot about ponies with autism,” Jerry’s caregiver said as she knelt down.
“Yes, I do. I used to work in a school for the physically and mentally disabled here in Rockville Hill,” Pinkie said in one breath.
“By the way, I am Pinkie Pie, but everypony just calls me Pinkie,” Pinkie introduced herself standing up.
“My name is Nurse Night Harmony, I am the resident Head Nurse here in the autism center,” Harmony said, shaking Pinkie’s hoof. “You can just call me Harmony if you like. Everyone else here does.”
“Well, it’s been a pleasure to meet you. It’s also been a pleasure seeing you again, Jerry. I have to go now, I'm going to explore a bit more of this group home before I get settled into my new job,” Pinkie said, kneeling down to Jerry’s level.
“Jerry what do you say?” Harmony prompted Jerry.
“You say?” Jerry repeated, then he remembered his manners, “thanks”
“You’re welcome, oh and I almost forgot this is for you,” Pinkie said as she handed Jerry his present.
“This is for you?” Jerry asked.
“Yes,” Pinkie smiled at Jerry.
Nurse Harmony smiled with delight,” Go ahead, Jerry. Miss Pinkie got you something wonderful.”
Jerry opened the little box delightfully and inside was a little teddy bear! It had the most wonderful light blue coat with a white belly and muzzle with a little black eyes and a button nose. Around its neck was a green bow tie. Jerry gasped in delight hugging it, “you love it, say thanks, Jerry!”
The nurse chuckled warmly,”Oh, it’s an absolute treat. Miss Pinkie, you sure know how to make ponies smile.”
“Of course!” Pinkie grinned,”It’s what I do after all! Seeing a pony smile always brightens my day! Well, gotta go! It was nice to meet the both of you!”
“You too. And good luck at your job, Miss Pie! Now say goodbye to Miss Pinkie, Jerry!” the nurse replied.
“Goodbye to Miss Pinkie, Jerry.” He repeated.
Pinkie smiled happily and trotted off humming a little tune to where she was working as Nurse Harmony sighed contentedly, “That Pinkie Pie. Always a delight to have with those around her.”
As Pinkie kept walking a black pony with a green mane in a wheelchair came toward Pinkie, Pinkie realized the pony to be Platinum Night, Platinum was blind and deaf and he has cerebral palsy.
“Hey, Platinum!” Pinkie said loudly.
Due to his cerebral palsy, Platinum had a hard time with his speech, instead of talking, he moaned and tried to reach out to Pinkie.
“What?” Pinke asked as she came closer.
“I'm happy, ya be hereeee! Platinum said as he spasmed a bit.
“I’m very happy to be too and to see you again,” Pinkie said as she hugged him.
“Soo how long are you going to be working here? Platinum asked.
“Not sure, why are you in the Autism Center?” Pinkie asked.
“Bad behavior, may have autism,” Platinum said before zooming off, leaving Pinkie very confused.
So she went to go to find a nurse and ask them what Platinum meant.
As Pinkie went to the nurses station, she was wondering what Platinum meant by he may have autism.
Maybe he was just talking nonsense like he had been known to do.
As Pinkie reached the nurses station, she saw Harmony working at her desk.
”Hey, Harmony do you have a minute?” Pinkie asked.
”Yes,” Harmony said.
“Ok so I just ran into an old friend I helped take care of and he said he might have autism. Do you have any idea what he could have meant?” Pinkie asked.
“Well, what's his name?” Harmony asked.
“Platinum Night I helped take care of him for 2 years,” Pinkie said.
“Ok, so he said he might have autism, right?” Harmony asked.
“Yes!” Pinkie said jumping up and down.
“He was just talking nonsense.” Harmony said as she walked out of her office.
“Ok, thanks!” Pinkie said as she walked away.
Arriving back in the kitchens, Pinkie got everything ready for a day of baking. She got out a bowl, a whisk, flour, sugar and some eggs.
Then she put on her apron and started working.
Meanwhile Jerry and Harmony were in Jerry’s room, playing a game. Jerry’s room looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. There was a huge desk that looked like a giant robot in the left corner of the room.
And in the right corner of the room stood a king-size bed that looked like a rocket ship, it had even been painted to look like a real-life rocket ship.
The walls of the room had been painted a very shiny gray to make it look like the walls were made out of metal.
