Chapter 1: Past Memories

"Inside every villain is a story. Something that fills that hole in their hearts with fire. We all scream because the bad guy has been revealed. Some villains' stories can be told through their past pain. They carry those emotions with them when they make their actions, forming sadness, anger, bitterness and sometimes even joy. Then and only then, will it finally be time for the monster to be unleashed. Revenge.."

“Are you sure you’re going to be okay? I mean, I don’t mind you staying here. You don’t have to leave so soon if you’re not ready.”

“Heh, you sound like my mom or something.”

“I’m just looking out for you!” Flusk shouted, seeming a bit flustered.

The blue unicorn Drizzle Dots smiled a bit at her, finding the fact that he could easily ruffle her feathers rather entertaining. As he did so, he carefully placed one last magic book into a packed bag propped up against a bed before zipping it closed.

“However, to answer your question, I’m sure. As much as I enjoy your company, this is also somewhat of a blessing in disguise for me.”

She noticed the unicorn laugh under his breath as she immediately caught onto what he meant.

“Hey, I’m not that bad to live with!”

“Are you sure about that because I’m pretty sure you’ve complained more about me when I lived here than you ever have when I didn’t.”

“That’s funny coming from you.”

The two unicorns just stared at each other in silence before Flusk snorted and couldn’t help but burst into laughter as Drizzle soon followed after. The two laughed for a good while until they stopped due to being out of air. At this point, they couldn’t even remember why they were laughing and why it was so funny but at least they both were having a good time.

“Pheww..” Drizzle sighed as he lounged over his bag in exhaustion. “Now I really don’t want to leave..Too..Tired..”

“Well you don’t have to because I was going to force you to stay anyways!” Flusk smiled.

“Fluusskk..”

“Come on, you can’t simply leave when I have turkey in the oven!”

“Turkey?..” Drizzle suddenly stood up, staring at her with a confused look. “Wait, you’re cooking turkey?”

“Mhm!”

“Now I really need to get out of here. You’re going to set the whole house on fire.”

“No I’m not! You’ve had my cooking before and you liked it. Besides, I’ve cooked turkey before.”

“Yeah, and it turned into charcoal.”

Flusk gave Drizzle a rather intense death stare as the stallion only continued to smile like an idiot at her. From the other room, a “ding” noise sounded and Flusk gasped in excitement before galloping into her kitchen to check on her turkey.

“It’s done!” She yelled happily.

“Done or well over done?” Drizzle snickered.

“Done you idiot!”

The two friends were now seated at a small dining table with a white table cloth over it. The turkey Flusk had cooked was in the middle of the table while the two ponies were on either side of it with their own plate, knives, and forks. Surprisingly the turkey tasted really good especially since Flusk wasn’t the best cook Drizzle had encountered but she was improving, that was for sure.

Despite the turkey tasting delicious, there was a very quiet and almost suffocating sadness lingering in the air that Flusk noticed right away. As she cut into her turkey, she noticed Drizzle sort of staring off into space with a blank look as he slowly chewed on his turkey. He was acting quite different from earlier and Flusk thought this was as good as a time as ever to address the situation at hoof.

“So you do have a place picked out already?” She asked.

It took a second but Drizzle snapped back to reality and nodded. “Yeah. It’s not the best but it’s all I’ve got.”

“That’s not true. You’re always welcome to stay here.”

“Yeah, I know. But, I can’t rely on you forever. I’m a grown stallion myself and I need to get my shit together.”

“Nopony cares if you can’t live on your own though. Heart, Deku, Reese, Crescent, all of them. Especially me. We know how much you’ve struggled these past few weeks and we’re more than willing to give you the support you need.”

“Well I care..” Drizzle said, folding his ears in shame.

A silence passed over the table as Flusk watched Drizzle worriedly before bringing up another subject she wanted to address.

“And..I’m not so sure you should be on your own right now. It’s not even been that long since she kicked you out and you’re considering living on your own? Are you sure you can..Mentally handle it?..”

Drizzle dropped his fork on his plate. “Flusk, I’ve dealt with worse than this. I’m not a baby and I can take care of myself.”

“You still have your upset moments though. I just..I can’t completely trust you because you try to lie to make me feel better and-”

Drizzle’s chair made a scraping noise against the floor as he stood up. Flusk looked up at him as he pressed his hooves into the table, staring down at her with a serious look.

“I promise you that I’m perfectly capable of taking care of myself and that I can do this. I appreciate all the help and support you’ve given me but if I’m ever going to live normally again, I need to leave. This is something I need to do so that I can forget about her and recover. That’s what you want me to do, right?”

“Yes, of course.”

“Then please, let me leave so I can do what I need to do.”

Flusk stared down at the ground, unsure if she should trust his word. And then, she was pulled into his embrace. She sighed gently as she hugged him back.

“You were there for me when I needed someone the most and I’m so grateful for that. I’m happy to have somepony like you in my life.” His horn suddenly glowed purple as he levitated something out from behind his back. “Which is why I got you this.”

They let each other go now as Drizzle levitated a small black box on to the table beside them.

Flusk levitated the box to herself looking at it curiously. “Wait, what’s this?”

“Happy early 24th birthday Flusk! I probably should have waited for your actual birthday but I was too excited.” He grinned excitedly.

She levitated the lid off the box and gasped when she saw three brand new fancy pens inside along with two inkwells full of black ink. Flusk was a writer of a few popular books she had written herself and always found herself misplacing her pens or accidentally breaking them. Some of them weren’t even good pens to begin with so to be given these as a gift was probably the best gift she was ever given.

She put her hoof to her mouth as tears formed in her eyes. She suddenly threw herself at Drizzle for a second hug as he nearly stumbled over.

“Woah! Sheesh, I wasn’t expecting you to be so emotional.”

“I-I’m just..So happy...T-Thank you..Thank you so much.”

He smiled down at her as he squeezed her tightly in the hug. Even if his life was currently shit right now, he at least knew he had someone on his side who cared about him. That’s all that mattered to him..Right now anyways.
