Never say die.
More questioning and a familiar face.
Previous ChapterNext Chapter"Please, come in."
I had gotten to Celestia's chambers rather quickly after saying my goodbyes to Moonie. Honestly, after spending a few good weeks with her, it felt...odd not having her around. I shrugged it off and walked inside, closing the door behind me. Celestia looked at me with her motherly, warm smile. I had gotten quite used to that since I had been here. She tapped one of her hooves on a spot next to her on her bed.
"Come, Daemon. Sit with me."
I nodded. When I first came to the castle, I honestly didn't trust anyone, including Celestia. But after these few weeks, I had gained her trust and vice versa. It seemed like she really did care for my wellbeing. Not saying the others around here didn't, especially after my "good deed" the other week. That wasn't what I decided to refer to it as. That was down to the townsfolk. It felt good to be appreciated for something. Wasn't used to that back on Earth.
I walked over to her and sat down, looking at her smile. "So, Daemon. What brings you here?"
I scratched the back of my neck, coughing slightly. "I was wondering how the research for getting me home was going."
She sighed sadly, looking away. That wasn't a good sign.
"I'm so sorry, Daemon. But I haven't found anything as of yet. Remember, this isn't just me teleporting you to a different town or country. It's me ripping a tear in the fabric of reality itself just to get you home to your own universe. Even Luna is struggling to find anything. We are trying our best, I assure you, but I can't make any promises as of now. I really am sorry. I can't imagine how painful it is for y..."
Before she could finish, I had already walked out of the door. I heard her shouting my name, but I didn't respond. I wasn't angry at her, no. But all of it just hit me at once. I may never get home. I might not ever see my parents or friends again.
I was trapped here.
I went back to my room and noticed that my door was already open. I assumed it was Moonie. I walked in and slammed the door, causing who I suspected to be in my room to jump up in surprise. I walked over to window and leaned against the wall, looking down at the Canterlot streets. Moonie had been shouting my name and asking what was wrong as soon as I walked in, but I had honestly zoned it all out. I felt a hoof on my back. I didn't turn or say anything. I just stood there, thinking heavily.
"...Daemon? What's wrong?"
Eventually, Moonie's voice broke through my thoughts. I sighed and turned around, looking her eyes. "I don't want to talk about it right now. Would you mind leaving for a bit?"
She looked shocked at that, almost hurt. She reached a hoof out for me, but I swatted it away, causing her to flinch. She looked away and without a word, walking to my door.
"If you need me, I'll be here."
And with that last sentence, she closed the door. I punched the wall, hurting my fist but I didn't care. I could never get back home.
Never.
That one word kept ringing through my head. I needed to get out of the castle for a bit. I opened the window and jumped out, landing in the castle's garden. The prosthetic legs that I had now grown more accustomed to cushioned my fall, making a loud thud and clank. I ran towards the castle gate and jumped over it. No ponies seemed to be around. It was turning dark though, so that wasn't surprising.
I had walked around the streets for a while and was currently thinking of heading back. The walk had helped me clear my head a tad bit. I then passed the alleyway where I took out those thugs and saved Fancy Pant's daughter. That's where it all sorta started, really. The bonding between me, Moonie, Celestia and everyone else who bothered to talk to me started after that event.
"Hey, you!"
I heard a voice coming from behind me. I snapped my head around to see a pony in the distance. I narrowed my eyes and scoffed when I realised who it was.
"Well well well..."
Standing in front of me, slowly walking towards me, was one of the thugs from the alleyway fight. He had an angry look on his face, stomping towards me. He strangely appeared to be on his own. He got up close to me, getting in my face.
"Who the buck do you think you are?! Our boss is dead because of you!"
I didn't react with any words. I instead opted to just shove him out of the way, walking past him. I heard him screaming behind me that "this wasn't over!" and all the other generic shit that stereotypical criminals say. I heard something closing in on me fast from behind.
The bastard was trying to charge me. Not on my watch.
I side stepped out of the way as he ran past me, nearly colliding into a wall. I unsheathed my sword, rubbing it with two fingers.
"I don't have time for this. Leave. Now."
The thug scoffed, smirking. "You don't scare me you..."
He didn't even get a chance to finish his sentence. I cloaked, causing him to start panicking.
"Hey, where the buck did you go?! Face me you coward!"
I came up behind him. I spun him around and sprayed one of my graffiti cans in his face, causing him to instantly fall into a heavy sleep. He fell down, snoring, eyes closed. I carried him with me back to the castle. I smirked.
"You're not going to like what you wake up to, buddy."
"So, this...cretin...tried to attack you? Is that right?"
I nodded, having placed the unconcious pony on the floor infront of me. Luna looked at him and scoffed. "What a sad, sad pony. Making others lives a misery. Scum. Thank you, Daemon. Thy effectiveness will be rewarded. Now, if you woudn't mind, I'd like to have a talk here with our guest."
I nodded my thanks, walking out of Luna's room, closing the door. I started to make my way back to my room, putting my hands in my pockets as I strolled down the hallway. I would have taken the bastard to Celestia, but I didn't really feel like talking to her right now. I wasn't mad at her, same as earlier. But thinking of her reminded me of what she told me earlier and it stung like a bitch. I figured it'd probably go away in time. Probably best to stay away from her for a bit until I calm down, though. Didn't want my emotions to get the better of me. I might say or do something that I'll regret.
I reached my room, opening the door to find Moonie sat on my bed, a worried look on her face as she stared at me as I walked in. I sat down on the bed next to her and started to rub her ears, causing her to squeak, but she started purring after a while. She rested her head against me slightly.
"It's about your home, isn't it?"
I sighed, nodding. "You're an observant one, I'll give you that, Moonie. Celestia basically told me that I might never be able to go home and I honestly didn't know how to react, so I walked out and I'm avoiding her for a bit."
She raised an eyebrow. "You do know that it isn't her fault, right? She's trying her best, I'm sure."
I stopped rubbing her ears, standing up and leaning against the window. I turned my head towards her. "I know that it isn't her fault. But I just don't know what to think at all."
She nodded. "I understand. And I can't imagine how painful it must be. I'm sorry, Daemon. As I said to you earlier, I'm here if you need anypony to talk to. I am your personal guard, after all."
That got a smirk out of me, to which she smiled. I looked out of the window. "I'm surprised how fast we've bonded, honestly. I wanted to kill you at first."
She scoffed, walking up behind me. "As if you would have ever had a chance. Seriously though, I have to agree. I have never become this close with anypony before...not even my own family. Despite us being a happy family to some degree, I was never super close to them. I just see them as people who raised me. Not much more. My mother's racism towards my partner also didn't help my relationship with her. Maybe I see myself in you somewhat. A lost, kind soul who doesn't know what to do or where to go. That was me for a long time."
I shot her a smile, rubbing her head again. "You're cute when you're being all sentimental, you know that?"
She blushed, turning away and grumbling. "I am not cute."
I chuckled as she walked back towards the bed on jumped on, picking up the book that she was reading when I stormed in here. I chose to keep looking out of the window, sighing.
"What am I going to do?"
"Report back to me when you are ready."
"Yes, my queen."
Somewhere, outside of Equestria, a certain queen sat on her throne, smirking to herself as she held a hoof up to her chin, leaning on it. She had planned this for months, not stopping for a second. This had to work. The fate of her species depended on it.
"Soon. Soon, we will take Canterlot and then...all of Equestria!"
