Lyra had a decent life. It wasn't perfect but it was hers and it was good. Now all of that is gone and she's in the worst of all possible worlds.

When the megaspells rain down, Lyra is barely able to get her family to Stable 93 in time. Injured in a balefire blast, she’s put into an experimental Z-CORE healing tank to recover.

She wakes up twenty years later to find Stable 93 abandoned and her husband and son missing.

Along with her medical robot companion BON-80n, she ventures into the brutal Buckstone wasteland on a desperate quest to reunite her family. But as she struggles to survive, she must also struggle not to be corrupted by a world that has lost all sense of right and wrong.
