The guardsman
Not pretty
Previous ChapterCam didn't know why she was crying...
It had been too long since she knew the feeling of sadness in her heart, but this? This was worse than sadness it felt more painful and heavy on her soul as she buried her head into the green of the guardsman who held her like a childhood friend that she knew all her life.
He was the reason why she was crying...
Looking into his memories for war, she heard him tell her of what he fought but actually seeing it? That was a different story and those close calls he faced was something made her heart skip a beat.
Why does she feel like this to him?
She just meet him the other day yet her feeling held her down wanting to be held in his arms, they made her feel safe and warm as strong as they were and the armor that protected them where wrapped around her like a snake holding her close to him. Cam stopped crying as she felt his hands on her head as he began to rub the back of her head to soothe her as she began to breathe normally.
The Abyssinian lynx held onto him as she grabbed his backpack not daring to let go of her friend, that's right he was her friend and there was something about him that made her not want to let go.
Was it what she just saw in his mind?
The horrors of hell isn't made flesh?
Or was it something that was pinging in her heart.
What was this feeling?
Damn it!
This feeling was killing her for Celestia sake!
"Cam?"
She looked up from the comfort of his chest to look up at the owner of the body she was hugging, Rex...the human of the imperium, the one who went through hell in a handbasket.
Her friend...
One she could trust, even though they meet only a few days ago something told her the two of them need each other as he looked at her and she looked at him. There blue eyes locking in with one another as she buried her head into his body sobbing once again.
"Why?" She asked to which Rex blinked.
"Why what Cam?" He asked her as she gritted her teeth.
"Why does fate have to treat you so cruelly Rex!" She shouted in his chest plate as he closed his eyes knowing where she was getting at as he gently held her in his bionic arm while the other gently rubbed her back claiming her down.
"It just is Cam...I can't do anything about it...I was just a normal human doing the emperor's will for I am a guardsman and it is my duty," He said as Cam looked at him horrified.
"TO HELL WITH YOU DUTY!" She shouted as he was slightly offended by this but could understand where she was coming from so it didn't hurt that bad as he cupped her chin with his hand.
"Cam...you must understand I didn't have a choice to fight those horrors. They were the enemies of man and I had to face them," He told her as she scoffed. "Cam please don't be sad...or mad be happy I'm here aren't I? You are holding onto me for dear life I ain't going anywhere,"
Cam looked back up at Rex who smiled as she looked into his eyes once again not seeing anything but the joy he held in them, why was he happy?
"Why are you so happy Rex?" She asked to which he laughed with a smile on his face.
"You silly kitty," He said petting her ears with his hand as she blushed from the act and the nickname. "You gave me a second chance in my life when I first meet you and you even gave me your friendship so I think that counts something to my happiness can't I be happy Cam?" He asked her to which she was about to say something but stopped as her blush grew even deeper.
"How can you blush if you have fur?" Rex asked jokingly as she looked at him flustered.
"S-s-s-shut up you jerk," She said as he laughed as he gently placed a hand on her cheek.
"Now how about you stop with the waterworks and we can move past this?" He asked to which Cam looked at him with a slight worry.
"I don't think I can get past this...now after what I saw," She said he smiled.
"Sure we can we have to take it one step at a time after all," The human said as she looked at him before smiling back.
"One step at a time," She repeated as she looked at him.
The two just stared at one another as Cam blushed causing the human to blush as well as she leaned into him as he did the same to her.
What was causing them to do this?
Fate?
Will?
Instinct?
Or was this the emperor's doing?
As the two's lips meet, it turned into a kiss as Rex grabbed the back of Cam's neck as the two kissed not wanting to let her go as the two closed their eyes. The cat and the guard didn't care for the looks that the ponies were giving them for this wasn't just friendship this was something else.
Something more rare and stronger.
Something that could rival all known magic on Equestria.
Something that these two had in there souls.
Though they were different species, one human and the other Abyssinian it didn't matter in the eyes of this power, for it didn't care if they were of different worlds. Once raised by war to be a killer, while the other was raised by peace to become a fixer. Yet the two were similar in every way besides being of different races, this power that held them that shined in there heart was none other than the same power that Shining armor and Princess cadence had.
That was the love they had for one another...though this love was young only for a few days as fast as it came it was still stronger enough to hold. Strong enough to rival even the two lover rulers themselves for a voice spoke inside Rex's head a voice sounding like it came from an old-world text to speech device.
"ATTA BOY SON!"
