Sometime after Starlight's final battle and eventual reformation, the Map calls Twilight, Cadence, Celestia, and Luna to the Crystal Empire, where the Mirror remains after Twilight's return.

Calling them for a special "friendship" mission, the four monarchs gather at the mirror, and are pulled through before they had the chance to get away.

The world they're spat out into is in the starting stages of a zombie apocalypse, and when they appear on a rooftop, they're confronted by four humans that help them get to safety.

Banding with them to survive, the Princesses make a deal with the four humans. If they can get them to the mirror in this world before it closes, the Princesses will guarantee their safety.
