The Crystal Empire is celebrating its annual Nightmare Night Gala, with the co-rulers holding an amazingly elaborate party at the Crystal Castle. Nearly everypony in the city is in attendance, along with Princesses Celestia and Luna. And among the citizens and castle staff alike, a confident Royal Guard by the name of Silver Soldier was hopeful to make an impact with his detailed costume of King Sombra for the event.
Unfortunately for the unicorn, it seemed that Shining Armor, the Prince Consort and Silver's Superior, had decided to dress in the exact same costume himself. Even though Silver Soldier was pissed about the wardrobe mishap, there wasn't much he could do but try to enjoy the party nonetheless. Luckily though, the Guard was quick to learn how identical he looked to Shining as soon as he went backstage.

And after an inebriated Princess Cadance mistakes Silver for her husband, things end up getting much more complicated by the time they headed upstairs...

Note: This story was commissioned by my Patron Silver Soldier, who wanted a different storyline that's not in the same universe as Cadance's Favorite Guard.
