The Lament and Delight of Derpy Hooves
Love Is a Powerful Thing Indeed
Things in Ponyville were pretty normal today, well, normal as far as the town is used to. ponies were going about their lives like normal, foals were enjoying they’re youths, and what has become the norm as of late, Twilight and her friends are called up to Canterlot for something important. Or just trivial to the mares, it was either one or the other. But it seems that one pony wasn’t enjoying their normal life routine today, and the tears on her face showed it.
Derpy Hooves was feeling pretty low today, as once again, the walleyed mare messed up at the post office. Her boss spent a whole hour yelling at Derpy that she once again, got orders mixed up, sent packages to the wrong address, and had ponies have to bring them back, and get their correct packages and launch complaints about the mix ups. And all Derpy could do is just stand there, take the shouting complaints, and apologize for them. all the while trying to hold back tears. Her coworkers tried to help her, but their boss was just so fed up with Derpy that he didn’t listen to them, and just shouted back. Even blaming them for not keeping a closer eye on Derpy, and not step in when she made an obvious mistake.
Reaching her house Derpy slowly shuffled to the door, eyes still puffed up from crying. As she opened her door and made her way into the house, Derpy heard the pitter patter of tiny hooves running along the floor, and the stairs, before seeing her daughter Dinky galloping towards her.
“Mommy!” Dinky squalled as she jumped at her mother, being caught in Derpy’s foreleg.
“Hey there Dinky, was school fun today?” Derpy asked her daughter, trying to sound happier.
“Yeah it was! Miss. Cheerilee even had papa come by, and teach us how to play the guitar!” Dinky said as she nuzzled Derpy’s chest.
Derpy then heard the heavier steps of her special somepony come her way. Looking up Derpy saw her special somepony, the only human in Equestria, Gabriel. The young man stood a towering 6’8ft tall, slouching over slightly so he didn’t knock his head on the ceiling or archways of the rooms. His tan skin contrasted against his dirty blonde head of hair, but went beautifully well with his amber colored eyes. The young man was wearing a pair of black jeans, a white shirt that has a trio diamond pattern over the left peck, under a small short-sleeved dark blue jacket. The young man leaned against the entryway of the living room, looking down at the mare with a small smile, but with a worried look present in his eyes.
“Hey babe, how are you doing today?” Gabriel asked as he looked down at Derpy, noticing her puffy and slightly red eyes, and was already getting a little upset.
“I…I’m fine.” Derpy fibbed. Her muzzle scrunching up slightly, and her tail giving a slight wag. Gabriel didn’t look to convinced at that, that’s when Dinky finally noticed the state her mother was in.
“Mommy? Are you alright?” Dinky asked innocently.
“Y-yeah, I’m fine Dinky. I’m just a little tired that’s all.” Derpy fibbed again, but she managed to fool Dinky, for now.
Dinky and Derpy then went to the living where the filly talked about all the things she did in class today, she went into excessive detail when Gabriel came to the school, and began teaching the foals how to play guitar for music class, although it was hard at first as the foals couldn’t play the instrument as Gabriel did. Since he had flexible fingers instead of a singular hoof.
In town, Gabriel has been regarded as a master of playing any instrument he was given, wither it was the piano, saxophone, or any other instrument. The way he played them, and the songs he did play, made everypony flock to him. When he first played during a music competition a year ago, which took place in Ponyville park, Derpy could even perfectly remembers the first time she heard Gabriel play at the competition, the sad yet powerful song he played with the saxophone moved Derpy so much she actually felt tears roll down her cheeks, as she could feel the emotions that the music held in each note. After the competition Gabriel was offered a job at Noteworthy’s music store, where ponies flocked to just to hear Gabriel play, whenever he teaches ponies how play an instrument, or just shows a pony how to play it.
“Dinky, could I talk to your mom alone for a second.” Gabriel asked the filly as he sat across from the pair.
“Ugh, okay papa.” Dinky said before giving her mother a nuzzle, before heading up stairs. When Gabriel was sure that Dinky was gone, he turned to look at Derpy, who seemed like a scolded puppy.
“…Derpy, are you sure you’re alright?” the young man asked, sounding genuinely concerned as he scooted over to the mare. Who started to tear up again, as she just laid there on the ground. “Derpy. You can talk to me if something is wrong.” Derpy didn’t say anything, as she just laid there, trying not to cry. But after a short minute, Derpy spoke, her voice warbling as she was getting choked up.
“…my…my boss—” the moment that Gabriel heard just those two words, an annoyed look took over his face.
“Did he hurt you or something like that?” Gabriel said protectively as he brought the mare into a hug, causing the mare to wrap her own hooves, and wings around the young man, while nuzzling into his chest.
“No.” Derpy said as she held her human close. “I messed up again, and he yelled at me, told me I was doing a horrible job.” the mare said as tears were no flowing freely.
“Derpy.” Gabriel said soothingly as he strokes her mane while holding her closer. “Your boss is just an ass. From what I hear, he always yells at someone, no matter if they did something right or wrong.” The young man said as he tries to comfort Derpy.
“So don’t take anything he says seriously alright. You do the best that you can do, and everyone knows that.” Gabriel then leaned his head down to give the mare a kiss on the top of her head, while giving her back a comfortable pat and stroke. Derpy didn’t say anything in response to Gabriel’s words of encouragement, in fact she seemed to lessen her grasp on the young man, and her crying seemed to have lighten up slightly. “Derpy?”
“…why.” She weakly says in a hushed voice.
“Why what?” Gabriel asked.
“…everypony I’ve ever meet never treats me like you do.” Derpy mumbled as her face buried in Gabriel’s shirt. “Even if some ponies try to be nice to me, other ponies think I’m stupid, say I’m slow, or just a no good for nothing mare who can’t do anything right….but you…” Derpy leaned her head up to look Gabriel in the eye, her eyes slightly red now.
“Even when I mess up, or screw something up so bad…you never mocked me behind me back. Or make fun of me, or even yell at me…you don’t even seem to be put off about my eyes. So why.” Derpy said as the tears flowed more freely.
“Why are you with somepony like me?! When you could’ve had a better mare, like Lyra, or Octavia, or even princess Twilight!? Everypony knows they all have crushes on you, so why are you with a pony like me?” Derpy continued to cry as she looked up at the human, who only looked back with a somewhat serious face.
“…the reason why I’m with you and not them, is because I know their ulterior motives.” Gabriel’s words caused Derpy to look at the human with a confused look.
“Twilight doesn’t have any romantic interest in me, she just likes me because I’m from another world that has millions of years of knowledge, and cultural ethics that you ponies don’t have, which she craves to learn. Octavia only finds me interesting because of my musical skills, as well as the various styles of music my people have. And Lyra…well…she’s just a thirsty stalker who wags her tail for anyone who catches her eye.”
“But you Derpy.” Gabriel said as he brought the mare closer, and began nuzzling the top of her head. “You liked me because I’m me.”
“When we first meet, I just thought you had some other reason why your interested me, but as I got to know you better you just like me not because I was from another world, some strange creature you’ve never seen, or because I supposedly have an incredible skill with instruments. You liked me because I am, me.”
Derpy seemed to have cheered up significantly as Gabriel explained why he’s with her, and not any other mare. The mare fully embraced the human in a deeper hug, while Gabriel cradled the pony in his arms, and readjusting his legs so they were acting as a second pair of arms to hold the mare. The pair stayed in this posture for a few minutes before having Dinky coming down, to see if her mom and step dad were alright, and ended up joining the little cuddle pile.
Sometime later the group started to get hungry, and decided to go to Sugarcube Corner to further help Derpy’s mood lighten up, which was already a lot better after the cuddle pile. As the trio made their way to the shop while Derpy was flying by Gabriel, and Dinky having a piggyback ride, Gabriel and Derpy were just talking about something while the little filly was just humming a happy tune. Happy that her mom was now feeling better.
Eventually the trio made it to Sugarcube Corner, which seemed to be having some kind of party going on. Reaching the building Derpy asked Miss. Cake what was going on, and the plump blue mare said that she and her husband were celebrating, as they were chosen to take place in a high-end confectionary competition, with the winner presenting their winning dish to Princes Celestia herself. So of course when Pinkie heard of this, she threw a party to congratulate the owners in being picked. So now Derpy, Dinky and Gabriel were mining with the ponies of the party, and enjoying some lovely treats as ponies party.
“Hey there Gabriel!” the high-pitched voice of Pinkie bellowed out as she bounces her way to the human, who was sitting on a small bench outside watching the ponies party. “Are you enjoying the party so far?” she asked as she perfectly bounced onto the empty spot of the bench.
“It’s alright.” Gabriel said before taking a sip of his cup of punch. ‘Even though it’s still pretty kidzy, but what can you do.’ He mentality lamented as he drank, before letting out a sigh.
“Well I’m glad you like it, and that you seem to be fitting in.” the pink mare bubbled as she took a—
‘Wait! When did she get her own cup of—’ that’s when he remembered a key thing that he was taught when he came to Equestria. ‘Don’t question it, it’s just how Pinkie rolls.’
“Hey Gabriel, you know what this party could use?” Pinkie mused as she leans up to the human, as he looked down at her with a quirked eyebrow. The mare giggled before reaching behind the bench…and pulling out a guitar.
“…okay, just, how—”
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, let’s hear some of that human music!” Pinkie all but thrusted the guitar in Gabriel’s hands, before standing on the benching, presenting her entirety to the world at large, before shouting over the crowed of ponies. “Fillies and Gentlecolts, to insure that you are having the best time of your life right now, Gabriel has volunteered to play some of his human music for all of us to enjoy while we party!”
the ponies immediately began stomping their hooves on the ground, kicking up a little bit of dust, as a good chunk of them closed in around Gabriel, who just had a dumfounded expression on his face, and wondering how things quickly turned out this way. Giving out a sigh of defeat, Gabriel got comfortable on the bench and started to tune the guitar, till it sounded right, while ponies waited for him to begin. And after a brief moment, Gabriel took in a calming breath, before playing a song that he remembers listening on the internet, and practiced before he was spirited away.

As his fingers plucked the strings of the instrument, the ponies near Gabriel listened to the mellow tune that was dancing around their ears. Those that were in the quote-on-quote dance floor in front of the shop, began to do what looked like a slow waltz or something of that nature, even ponies mingling around the tables of snacks and refreshments were simply listening and swaying their heads and tails.
Derpy was at the back of the group around her special somepony, with dinky right next to her, as they both had their eyes closed and just simply listened to that wonderful music leave the guitar. As she listened with her eyes closed, Derpy couldn’t help but not picture Gabriel sitting on a picket fence, wearing nothing but his black jeans and shoes, playing the guitar, with a painted background behind him that had the setting sun shine its golden glow over his body. But as Derpy was enjoying the blissful music that was invading her ears, she began to hear a hushed whisper only a foot from her.
“I still can’t believe a male like, THAT, is with a mare like her.” Derpy’s eyes opened and only turning her head slightly, she saw Spoiled Milk talking with a few other mares, all of them looking like the types of ponies from Canterlot.
“I mean really, just listen to that music, and look at that physic of his. Such a treasured specimen is wasted on that walled-eye mare.”
“Indeed.” A red coated mare with a styled blonde mane said, trying to keep her voice down, as not the be heard. But mostly not to disturb the music Gabriel was playing. But little did she, her friends, or Derpy knew, Gabriel was able to hear them perfectly.
“He should just leave that miserable pony, and get a real mare. One that will treat him, right.”
At that Derpy felt her heart tighten and ache, and a new surge of tears were already working towards her eyes. And as for Gabriel, despite the calm facade on his face, inside he was already boiling over at what he was able to hear, and when he looked over to Derpy he’s own heart started to ache at seeing her sad. But that’s when an idea, or more accurately a certain song came to his mind, which may turn things around, so he quickly finished the song he was currently playing, which was just in time as Derpy began to slowly trudge away from the group, with Dinky asking her what’s wrong. Once the song he was playing was over the ponies, including the ones that were trashing poor Derpy, began clapping their hooves.
“Thank you, thank you very much everyone.” Gabriel said as the crowds cheers start to die done a bit. “Now I was just going to play one song for you guys.” The ponies grumbled at that, but Gabriel raised a hand to silence them.
“But I decided to play one more song, and this time…” Gabriel paused as he strummed a few strings before continuing. “I’m gonna sing this one while playing.”
That got everypony’s attention right away. They’ve never heard Gabriel sing a song before, let alone while he played an instrument. Everypony that was either at Sugarcube Corner, or nearby to hear this, they all gathered around the bench and patiently waited to hear what song Gabriel would sing, and after plucking and tuning the strings a few times, Gabriel began to sing a song he’s been meaning to sing to his mare.

The ponies were all shocked as they heard Gabriel’s soft voice began to sing, as it was so amazing to hear, his voice gained a harmonies tone to it, which when accompanied by the guitar music just made it even better. For Derpy, when she heard the first set of lyrics, she stopped in her tracks, and turned to face Gabriel, who was looking in her direction with a loving smile as he played on.
Ponies turned to look where Gabriel was looking, and when they saw he was staring directly at Derpy, they’re little hearts began to flutter. As they all realized that this was a love song, and it was for Gabriel’s marefirend. Course not all the ponies in the crowed were happy, specifically Spoiled Rich and her gaggle of friends.
As he began the other half of the song, Gabriel stood up from the bench, and made his way over to Derpy, with the crowed splitting to let him pass. All the while Derpy just looked dumbfounded as she watches Gabriel, slowly strut his way over to her, singing and playing such a wonderful song, a song that just made her feel…happy. Safe. And a myriad of other joyful emotions.
As Gabriel finishes his song, he out stretches a hand to caresses Derpy’s check, which she nuzzled into lovingly as tears started to trickle down her cheeks. The ponies then watched as Gabriel gently pulled Derpy closer to him, and planted a kiss on her lips, causing the mare to go wide-eyed before slowly melting in the contact. Ponies cooed and awed at the sight, while Dinky smiled while a blush covers her face. after the kiss Gabriel placed his forehead on Derpy’s forehead, and just stared into her eyes.
“No matter what anyone else says Derpy, know that I will never leave you. not now, not ever.”
“You promise?” Derpy asked in disbelief, her heart and mind in a somewhat emotional cyclone. Gabriel pulled back, and with his index finger, crossed over his heart.
“Cross my heart and hope to die for lying.”

A couple of hours have gone by, and for the rest of their time at the party, Gabriel played a few more songs, with Noteworthy who decided to join in and continue to play music. While Derpy and Dinky sat on the bench, and just listening to the human and his boss/friend. As the party continued on, and during a little break, Gabriel found Spoiled Milk and her gaggle of friends, and demanded they apologize for mocking Derpy behind her back. Of course the harlots denied the accusation, but when Pinkie popped up and…somehow…had a recording of their voices on a tape recorder, which got others attention when they heard what they said. Needless to say, the group of harlots left feeling embarrassed, right after they gave Derpy the apology.
Once the party was over, as it turned into night, Derpy and Gabriel headed home with Dinky sleeping on her mother’s back.
“So Derpy, how do you feel now?” Gabriel asked as he looked down at his marefriend who looked back up to him.
“Much better.” Derpy said, a pleasant smile still plastered on her face, ever since Gabriel told her he’s hers, and will never leave her.
“Well I’m glad.” Gabriel said as he placed a hand on the mares head, and started to pet Derpy while scratching behind the mares ears. Getting a satisfied hum from Derpy. “You look so much better when you look happy, rather than sad.” Derpy leaned her head against Gabriel waist and began nuzzling into him, while Gabriel just smiled down at the mare as they continued to make their way home for the day.
Eventually the pair made it to their home, where they found Amethyst fast asleep on the couch, with a few books surrounding her. As Derpy carried Dinky to the fillies room, and tucked her in, Gabriel carefully picked up Amethyst and brought her to the guest room, where she was tucked in and gave a happy murmur as she hugged the pillow tightly, and getting a chuckle from the human. Once Derpy’s daughters were in bed, Derpy and Gabriel headed to their own room where Derpy practically lunged at Gabriel, tackling him to the bed and deeply kissing the human with everything she has.
“Your certainly bold tonight Derpy.” Gabriel said as he ran a hand through her mane.
“I just wanted to show you how much I apricate you.” Derpy said before going into another deep kiss, her tongue tangling with Gabriel’s tongue. The kiss went for a few more moments before the pair eventually broke off to breath.
Derpy then started to kiss Gabriel all over his face, before going to his collar bone and then his neck. As the mare kissed her partner, Gabriel just rubbed his hands over Derpy’s body. Feeling the soft fur along her back and neck, before giving the bubbly mare a soft squeeze on her plump flanks, causing her to moan. Continuing to grope Derpy’s posterior, Gabriel pivoted his position, causing the mare to slide off him, and allowing him to loom over Derpy. Causing her to gasp, her face blushing, and her forelegs curled up to her chest. Leaning his head down Gabriel gave a few playful kiss along Derpy’s neck, before giving small tender bites, causing the mare to fidget and moan, as she feels the sharp incisors pinch her skin.
Lower himself down the mares body, Gabriel continued to trail kisses and love bites along Derpy’s body, further causing the mare to gasp and moan in delight. Reaching down to Derpy’s lower region, Gabriel gave her little teats a quick kiss, which got a jot from the mare, before lapping at the mares moisten lips. Which seemed to be have wet for some time now. For Derpy, her fore hooves shot to the bed, weakly trying to grasp the sheets as her human pleasured her, feeling his smaller tongue lap at her lower lips, and her winking clit, before feeling it slither inside her and began wriggling around. Especially this one spot on the roof of her tunnel, right behind her clit. Derpy quickly brought a hoof to her mouth, as to muffle any of her pleasured cries, or risk waking her daughters up.
The euphoria of the moment however came to an end, when Gabriel bit down on Derpy’s pulsating pearl, and then tugged on it, which caused the mare to arch her back and unleash a torrent of mare cum. Coating Gabriel’s face in the sticky fluids, which oddly yet surprisingly tasted like blueberries, or some kind of tart fruit. Before removing his shirt, shoes, and socks, before joining his mare in bed.
To spent to even attempt actual sex, Derpy smiled as she weakly scooted over to her special somepony, her human. Allowing him to hold her close to his body, laying under the sheets, feeling her humans smooth skin and hear is heartbeat in her ear, their combined body heat and the comfiness of the bed lulled them to sleep. As they laid there Derpy can her the remnants of the song that Gabriel sang to her, causing the smile that’s been on her muzzle for the last couple of hours to grow just a hair, as she further buried herself into the love of her life.
“I love you Gabriel…my true partner.” Derpy lazily murmured as she felt Gabriel kiss the top of her head, and those arms with such smooth skin coiled around her.
“And I love you Derpy, the newest chapter of my life for happiness.” The young man said before sleep finally took over the two, and brought them nothing but pleasant dreams of what the future may hold for them.
