Sunset Of Nowhere

In the middle of the desert, a young girl with red and yellow hair, drifted through the hot, sandy plains.

“How did this happen?” She asked herself.

Her mouth was dry and her tongue was like paper. She was struggling to breath. The heat was too much to handle. If she could cry, she would cry dust.

“When I walked through the portal, I thought I would become an alicorn. But I think I’m going to die out here without fulfilling my ambition.”

Sunset Shimmer fell to her knees, too weak to stand. She started to cry with no tears.

“I wish I had never gone through that stupid mirror! And was at home with Princess Celestia. Why didn’t I listen to her?”

Sunset accepted her fate and waited for the sweet release of death. Her eyes slowly closed, all she could see was darkness. “Princess Celestia, wake me when I’m home.” She passed out.

In her dream, Sunset was home in Celestia’s castle, learning everything and anything. She sees her mentor. “Oh, Princess Celestia, I have something to ask you.” She chased her, but no matter how close she got, her teacher was always out of reach. Then, without warning, she saw the mirror. “What is that doing here?” The mirror began to reshape itself into a tearfing mouth and started suck her in. She tried to escape, but she lost her grip, and when she was close enough, the jaws snapped shut.

“Nooooo!” Sunset woke from her nightmare, huffing and puffing in a cold sweat. She slowly regained her senses, and looked around. It was night time and she was in a hose of some kind.
“Where am I?”

She looked around the house. It was run down, and there were dust and cobwebs everywhere.
“How did I get here?” Sunset thought to herself. She stands up from the bed she was on. And starts investigating. “Who lives here? This place is in desperate need of cleaning.” At that moment, Sunset could hear footsteps from outside.

A man dressed like a cowboy entered the house. After he entered, he saw Sunset was now out of the bed. He waves hello to her holding a container of water for her. Without hesitation, she dashed and swiped the container from her saviour. She guzzled the water down, spilling it everywhere, on her clothes and on the floor.

Once she was finished, she took a deep breath of relief. “Thank you. Sorry for drinking it all. As you can imagine, I was really dry,” She explained.

He nodded his head in understanding.

“Not much of a talker, are you?” Asked Sunset.

The cowboy shakes his head for no.

“So, where are we?” She asked.

The cowboy showed Sunset outside of the house, which was in the middle of an impressive forest.

“Wow!” She gazed in awe. “This place is beautiful! So, what's your name?”

The cowboy shrugged.

“Are you telling me that you don’t have a name?” Asked Sunset, puzzled.

He nodded yes.

“Ok, well, I’m Sunset Shimmer,” She introduced herself. “So, what is this place?” She asked, before backtracking. “Ohh...yeah, sorry, forgot you can’t talk.”

The cowboy gave a thumbs up.

“So, is this where you live?”

He nodded.

“Alone?”

He nodded again.

“Ok, so what do you do?” Asked Sunset curiously.

The cowboy got an idea. He ran off, and came back with a small pile of rocks.

“So you gather rocks?” Sunset said with a raised eyebrow.

The cowboy put them down on the ground and clapped his hands. Instantly, the rocks came to life, with googly eyes and tiny, stick like arms and legs.

Sunset watched with wide eyed wonder. “You can do magic? I've never seen magic like this before. This is amazing! Who taught you?”

Using charades, the cowboy tells Sunset he has no memory from before.

“That’s so sad. And you’ve never left this place?” She asked.

He sadly nodded.

“To be honest, If I were you, I would just stay here. There’s nothing but sand out there,” Replied Sunset in understanding Then the cowboy took Sunset for a walk through the forest where he lived.

“Wow! This place is amazing!” Said Sunset in awe. Suddenly, from a distance, they heard a girl screaming. Sunset and the cowboy looked at each other, before running to find the girl. And when they found her, she turned to them and pulled out a knife.

“Hold it right there!” She commanded. The girl had long red hair and wore clothes like that of a cowgirl. She then looked at a wanted poster and asked the cowboy, “Can you look as threatening as possible?”

He tried, but from Sunset’s point of view, he just looked cute.

The girl then turned her attention to Sunset. “Can you do the same?” She inquired.

“Not really,” Sunset replied with uncertainty.

“Yeah, you don’t look like the poster,” The girl said with a shrug. She put the poster away and introduced herself. “Well, anyway, moving on, nice to meet y’all. My name’s Scout.”

“I’m Sunset. And I’m not sure about this guy,” Sunset said, gesturing to the cowboy, who gave a quick wave, before he clapped his hands. Then the rocks on the grand sprang to life and ran to him, standing on top of each other to make a person. He then shakes hands with the rock person.

“So, you want me to call you friend?” Scout asked.

He nodded.

“Clever guy,” Sunset thought to herself.

She pulled out a book from her huge backpack. “Well, since that’s done, y'all don’t know what these rock creachers are? I’ve never seen…” The Little Rock steals the book from her hands. “HEY!” She shouted as she chased them.

“Hey, Scout, why are you here?” asked Sunset.

“Oh, we’re here hunting the Nomad.” A lightbulb went off in her head. “Wait a second, the rocks, this place? THE NOMAD MUST BE HERE!” She yelled in joy.

“Um, Scout, who’s the Nomad?” Asked Sunset.

“He is the most evil person with the biggest bounty. He lived for hundreds of years. And the scary part is, he’s got magic,” Explained Scout.

“Did you say magic?” Sunset asked with wide eyes and grabbing Scout shoulders.

“Yes. Well that's what they say about him,” Replied Scout.

“Hold on, you don’t know for sure?” Sunset asked again.

“I swear to god! That’s all I know about the Nomad,” Scout said with a shrug.

Sunset let go of Scout. “Sorry,” Sunset apologised. If it was true that this Nomad had magic, he might be Sunset's only chance to return home.

Just then, the cowboy got both girls attention with help from the rocks. The rocks gathered together, forming into the shape of a house. “You know where he lives?” asked Scout.

“Can you show us the way?” asked Sunset, with a bit of trepidation in her voice.

The cowboy nodded, before showing the girls his home and all it wonders. A beast grabbed one of Scout’s books and she pulled out a knife. The cowboy stopped her and fed her book to it. Water shot out of its nose.

“What is this place?” Scout asked with a glimmer in her eyes.

They made their way back to his house. Scout walked up to the building. “Hey, this feels a lot like we’re intruding,” She said while searching.

“Why are we back here?” Sunset thought in confusion.

The cowboy then took the girls outside, carrying a huge sheet. He hangs up the sheet, and puts on a show for them.

“Aw, a show, how nice,” Said Sunset with a smile.

He stepped on the stage with a broomstick and he clapped his hands. The broom came to life.

Immediately after, a strong female voice shouted. “I’ve finally found you, Nomad!”

They all looked and saw a woman in a red tunic, accompanied by men all in yellow uniforms.

“What, this isn’t the Nomad, he's just a guy with magic…” Scout paused, as she finally put the pieces together and she grabbed a book and slammed her face into it. “Such a dunderhead!”

“There’s no escape for you Nomad! No trickery or magic can save you!” Declared the woman in red.

The Nomad looked around and saw Scout's backpack. He clapped his hands. Then an army of knives cut their way out of the pack.

“Oh no, trickery and magic!” Said one of the men in a panic.

Another man suddenly pushed his way past the man. “Red Manuel will show you how to deal with this,” He said in third person. The knives turned and ran as Red gave chase. They ran through the sheet, before Nomad grabbed it and tossed it over Red’s head.

“Ohh, sheet!” He exclaimed in annoyance.

Just then, Toph punched Nomad in the face, knocking him to the ground.

“No more games,” She said with a scowl. She began to swing at him with her axe, as he jumped and dogged.

“I can’t see!” Cried Red.

“Quick, help Red Maneul. He’s claustrophobic!” Said one of the soldiers.

“And he’s too proud to admit it!” Added his friend. They ran up to him to get the sheet off.

“Don’t touch me!” Red shouted, causing one of the soldiers to drop his torch, setting the sheet alight. Red screamed, and ran straight through Nomad’s house, setting it ablaze.

“Oops,” said the soldier.

The chaos soon involved Sunset looking for the Nomad. She soon finds him, trying to get by the red lady. She swung her axe, trying to hit him. “Stop moving!” She yelled angrily.

Just then, Scout ran to the red lady. “Toth! Wait, he's not as bad as everyone says!” She shouted, trying to reason with the irate woman. Just then, Red came charging past, crashing into Toph, who shoved him off her furiously.

While she was distracted, Sunset runs up to Nomad and reaches out her hand. “Quick, come with me!” She said. Sunset and Nomad ran for their lives. They came to the edge of the briar patch, where Nomad stopped. “Come on, we need to get away from here,” called Sunset.

Just then, they heard Scout screaming,“HELP, HELP!!”

Nomad looked back, before looking at Sunset, then he ran back to save Scout. “He’s not evil, but regardless, I can’t afford to lose him.” Sunset thought, as she ran back after him.

Nomad and Sunset rode in on the beast, and together they saved Scout and the others. Most of them were pastout. After everyone was safe, a little light glowed in his chest.

“You… you saved us,” Said Scout wearily, right before she passed out as well.

“Do you think this changes anything?” Nomad looked at the crawling Red Manuel, who was holding a pistol up to him. “Red Manuel will tell the Don, then Red Manuel will hunt you down. And then Red Manuel….” He was finally silenced by Sunset as she hit him with a rock to the back of his head. The rock’s eyes were spinning around with dizziness.

“Ooh, sorry.” Sunset said, putting the rock down, and coughing up a bit of smoke. She then stepped up to the Nomad. “Please, come with me. I need to show you something,” She asked. The Nomad looked out at the desert, before looking back at Sunset, and nodding.

Holding hands, she and Nomad take their first step into the wasteland.

“I’m coming home, Princess Celestia. Please wait for me.”

In a faraway place stands a huge castle. Within, a king sits in his throne, covered by shadows. He raised his hand, and a servant rushed to his side. “Yes, El Ray,” He said with a bow.

The king's eyes were filled with rage as they locked on the servant. “Forgive me your majesty, I forgot my place!” He pleaded.

Without Mercy, the darkness around him seemed to consume him, as he screamed out in terror.

After that, another servant entered the throne room. The king turned his eyes on the newcomer. “Send for my Governors,” He said with a wicked grin.

Following the king's order, the servant left the throne room to send the summons to the four corners of the world.
