Chapter 1
As the sun set along the horizon, the sun goddess’ duties had end for the day. It was now her sister’s duty to guard the night. However her sister had not arrived yet. Celestia started to worry for her sister until she saw a flash of indigo in the red-orange sky of the sunset.
“I am here sister. Rest while I guard the night.”
“Thank you.”
As Celestia walked towards her chambers she thought of Luna. Her sister had only been freed from her curse recently. And her sister was having trouble mingling with her subjects. They still feared her no matter how many times the lunar goddess explained that she had changed. But Celestia had noticed certain moments when Luna would just stop talking and then start again in a different voice. However when her sister’s normal voice came back she could not remember what she had said. Recently those small blackouts were growing in severity. First it was when she would be walking then the blackout would happen. When she came to, she was at the other side of the room, not knowing how she got there. Then it was when she would be reading. The blackout would happen but she would still keep reading. When she came to she would be maybe 20 pages ahead of when she blacked out. She would have to go back and read it again. But now it had gotten to a level where when she blacked out she would talking to Celestia one second and the next she would be standing over her with her sister on the ground, bruised and battered. The solar princess was worried for her sister but she did notice that even though the blackouts were growing in intensity, they were diminishing in amount. So Celestia didn’t worry too much. When she arrived at her room, she removed her crown and boots and got into bed and fell asleep.

As Luna was watching over the night, she started to hear a voice. A voice that was locked deep in her mind when she was freed. The voice was the voice of Nightmare Moon. Luna would hear the voice before a blackout.
“Luna.....”
She knew the blackout was coming and she knew she couldn’t stop it. All she did was hoped that it didn’t lead to something bad.

When the indigo-coloured alicorn awoke, she was on the floor beside her sister’s bed. Oh no, she thought to herself, what could have happened during my blackout? Celestia was still sleeping peacefully so Luna thought that nothing had happened. She walked over to one of the multiple windows overlooking Equestria to find that it was almost dawn. She decided to wake her sister to be ready. She walked back to the bed and nudged her sister’s hoof. Nothing happened. Her sister did not stir, she just remained asleep. Luna tried again. Nothing. She started to panic. She thought to herself what would happen if she never woke up. She paced the length of the bed listening to the clacking of her hooves against the stone hoping it would calm her down. She walked over to the door and found a white guard stallion keeping guard down the hall. She trotted nervously up to him and asked him if he could find a doctor.
“Who is in need of medical assistance, Your Majesty?” bowing to the princess.
“Princess Celestia.”
The guard stood up shocked.
“The princess?!”
“Yes. Now would please hurry.”
“Of course, Your Majesty.” said the guard as he rushed off down the stairs at the end of the hall.
A few minutes later a doctor was beside the sun goddess’ bed checking her vital signs.
“Is she going to be alright?” asked the lunar princess.
“Her vitals are all normal however...”
“Yes?”
“She is in a coma.”

Chapter 2
"A coma?" replied Luna.
"Yes, a coma." said the doctor.
"But how is that possible. Alicorns, much less immortals, don't become ill."
"I must say this is rather odd. Has she done anything that might have stressed her lately?"
"No she hasn't."
How could my sister, the goddess of the sun, fall into a coma? It has never happened to an immortal before... unless the reason isn't medical. Maybe somepony put a spell on her so she would never wake up. Luna dreaded the thought but she decided to check anyway. She focused some of her magic into her horn and surrounded her sister in her indigo aura, searching for any spells that could have been placed. All was good until the lunar princess noticed something, a faint mark left by magic almost like a signature. Luna recognized instantly and realized what had happened to her sister. Nightmare Moon had cast a spell to make sure that Celestia would never wake up and the world will fall into chaos. Luna tried to remove the spell herself but she couldn't do it. The spell was locked with the power of a thousand years of hatred. The indigo-coloured alicorn thought for a while about the possibilities of how she could save her sister. She thought about searching through the archives but then she remembered that Celestia had said her top student, Twilight Sparkle, almost matched the princesses in magical power. She went to her room immediately to send for the lavender pony.

In Celestia's mind, she was floating through space without any idea where she was going. She tried to wake up from her dream multiple times but found that a magical barrier was blocking her exit.
"Hahaha..."
"Who are you? Show yourself!"
"Have your really for gotten who I am Celestia?"
Celestia's eyes widened in horror as she realized who, or more specifically, what the voice was coming from.
"Nightmare Moon..."
"Ah... so you do remember."
"What are you doing in my mind?"
"Haven't you figured that out yet? It is quite obvious."
The solar princess knew as soon as she heard the voice.
"You're here to take over my mind."
Suddenly she heard a completely different voice.
"Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!"
"Discord?" Celestia asked in confusion.
"How did you get inside my mind? You are trapped in stone in the gardens."
"Ah... dear Tia. That is but my body. My mind is free to roam the land."
“How is that possible?”
“Oh, there are many things you don't dear Tia. Like for example my past times during my imprisonment.”
“What past times are you talking about?”
“Have you not heard of the unusual sickness that has been going around?”
“The sickness that has been turning ponies greyer everyday?”
“Yes. That was me.”
“But how are you able to do that?”
“Do you really need an explanation for everything Tia? Loosen up, have some fun every once in a while.”
“I know how to have Discord but that is none of your business!” said Celestia blushing.
“Oh? Have we finally met a different side of the princess?”
“No! I am the same princess I was the day I turned you to stone!”
The voice paused only slightly as if remembering the pain.
“Now now, no need to be mean.”
“Oh really? And why not may I ask?”
Discord's voice vanished and Nightmare Moon's voice returned.
“Because right now you are trapped here and I control everything in this realm.”
