After Equestria had fallen apart, literally, Luna was the mare to lead the fleet of homeless ships to their new home. A home that she was seeing for the third time.

In outer space, there are very few planets that can support pony life. One such planet is Equinox, named such by Luna herself. Why? Because Equinox is where Luna had attempted to build an empire before the events that led to her becoming Nightmare Moon, and she had taken a massive number of Equestria's somewhat unwanted batponies with her.

Thing is, during her thousand years on the moon, the thriving empire she built had disappeared. Blaming herself, Luna hadn't told a soul about empire, not even her older sister.

But Equinox was the only planet ponykind was aware of that could support pony life, and after thousands of years, it was finally time to unravel the mysteries of what had happened to the once-great Lunar Empire.

And plant some mango trees.
