Visions flashed in Magnify's mind of his horrible past. He saw himself looking out of a small colt's eyes at a horrid stallion with a misshapen smile cutting open his father with a saw blade, while choking his mother to death with a mech hand. Once both stop moving he turns to the small colt puts one mech finger to his mouth and whispers "Shhhhhh." Then his eyes shoot open revealing himself laying the floor with sweat pouring from his head. He sees the other officer stallion over him looking frightened and worried asking over and over "ARE YOU ALRIGHT!?" till he gets a response. Magnify finally gets one "y-yes i'm f-fine," says Magnify as he struggles to get up, the officer then helps him up to his hoofs.
The officer escorts Magnify out of the factory and to his squad car, Magnify falls back asleep while the car turns on and starts to pull out. He dreams of nothing but blackness and running from the twisted smiling stallion with the mech arm and saw blade. He then wakes up again in another pony's office. As he comes to he realizes it's a mare who's sitting at the desk in front of him. She says "Fall asleep did ya Mag?" as he wakes up more he realizes it's his partner *Hera* "y-yeah I did, didn't I?" he says while laughing a little. "So do you remember that piece of paper you pick up? The one that you fainted at when you saw?" asked Hera "Yeah I remember it, why?" he says, sitting up in the chair. "Well, I looked it over and found some pretty interesting things. One I found smiley faces drawn all over it in blood and two, I found the words "Subrideo Aeternaliter."
"Apparently translated from Latin to English it means "Smile Forever.” I passed the paper around to some of the others here and none of them had any reaction to it like you did. Is there any reason why you did? Any that you can remember?" she asks curiously, Magnify lets out a big sigh "Yes, yes I do remember, it was when I was a little colt and me and my family were just getting ready to go to bed when my father heard a strange noise coming from the basement. He went to check while me and my mother stayed at the top of the stairs he sprinted back up the stairs yelling at us to get out of the house, so we did and when we did, something the basement blew up causing the rest of the house to catch on fire. Somepony emerged from the flames, unharmed by them. He bolted towards my father. My father dodged him and used his wings to pick up a brick that was in a pile of debris. He hurled it at the other pony. It did hit him, but had no effect. The other pony then shoved a saw blade through my father's stomach and pulled up splitting him if half.
Out of rage my mother charged at him and impaled his head on her horn, but he then used a mech hand to strangle her to death, as if the horn did nothing. When he dropped her body, he looked at me and told me to shush and ran off. I just broke down and started bawling until somepony not far from me saw the fire and called the police. Later the police questioned me on what I saw and I described the pony that I saw killing my parents. Looks of fear came across their faces when I told them. Two officers went out of the room. One of them came back with a blanket and pillow for me. He took me somewhere and I can't remember what happened from then on out."
As Magnify finishes Hera says "Well I'm very sorry that happened to you and at such a young age." Both are silent for a little while, then Hera breaks the silence by saying, "Hey do you wanna come back to my place and review the evidence from the case?" and Magnify responds with a "Sure" Both leave the office and trot to her home. When they arrive, Hera pulls out a file labeled "S.F.S" and lays it down on a table and both pull up chairs to look at the evidence. Just as they pull it all out, crying is heard coming from a room down the hall. "Oh my, he's awake again." Hera leaves the room to the crying and comes back with a very small colt of only 2 months age, still sniffing and snuffling from crying.
Magnify gets up from the chair and over to the crying colt and crosses his eyes, puffs up his cheeks and sticks his tongue out at the little colt. He stops sniffling and laughs a little and tries to do the same at Magnify. Then Magnify laughs and so does Hera. "That always cheers him up doesn't it?" says Magnify. Hera responds "Yes, yes it does" and she laughs a little more at her child and puts him back to bed and goes back to Magnify. When they are about to sit down to look over the pictures and messages, Magnify asks "C-can I just sleep for a little? after today's weird events I just want to rest for a little." and Hera says back with a smile "Sure, you can lay down on the couch there." she points to it and he trots over and plops down on it. Hera then tells him "Oh and I almost forgot, i have to grab some things from the market place right quick, would you mind?" and Magnify says back in a sure tone "Yeah I'll be fine, I'll keep my eyes and ears open for your little colt." Hera smiles at him and grabs her things, heading out the door while Magnify drifts off to sleep.
Magnify slowly wakes up cold and his muscles hurt, when he opens his eyes, he sees the outline of pony with light brown skin. Then he sees something that makes him wake up instantly. He sees the mech hand, the saw blade and the light brow colored pony saying, "Hello Magnify, good to see you again." and the pony's smile grew wide across his face....
Magnify's heart raced at the sight of the smiling pony. The pony came closer and said, "Ah, you've grown since I saw you at your parents final resting place." upon saying these words Magnify yelled "Fuck you!" and spat in his face. Then Magnify tried to attack him, but realized he was bound to a wooden "X" holding all of his legs back and his head too. The only thing thing that was free was his wings, though they served no use to him, and then the twisted smiling pony asked him as if the spitting had no effect "Why didn't you ever smile from that day I killed your parents? Is what I did wrong?, did it not amuse you? I'm surprised it didn't. After all, you’re just like me." While saying this his smile grew bigger and Magnify screamed back, "I AM NOTHING LIKE YOU!, I NEVER KILLED ANYPONY!" To this, the smiling freak responded, "From what you know you haven't." Just then Magnify woke up screaming realizing he was still in Hera's house and still safe.
When he woke up more he realized the little colt was crying and went to go comfort him. When he went into the little colt's room he saw what a small colt’s happy room was turned into a nightmare, he saw smiley faces drawn in blood over everything in the room. The color drained from Magnify's face as he rushed over to the cradle to find that the colt was un-harmed. Magnify let out a breath of relief. Then he took the colt out of his cradle and into the living room with him. Magnify took out his pistol and loaded it. Then sat with the small colt and tried to comfort him, after a few hours Magnify heard hoofsteps outside the front door, and the knob started turning as if somepony was struggling to get in.
Magnify got up with his pistol at the ready and waited for the door to open, he saw outside the stain glass window what looked like a saw blade and hid behind a pot with his gun aimed. The door finally opened and Magnify's heart started racing as it slowly opened and the second he saw a hoof he shot at it, luckily missing, seeing that it was Hera coming home. Hera yelled at him for doing so, "WHAT THE FUCK MAG!?" "Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry! I thought you were our case criminal with that circular thing there", Magnify responded. He pointed to it and Hera said. "it's a new pizza cutter that I decided to pick up! not a saw blade!" Hera then picks it up showing him, and then Magnify, remembering the little colt's room and what happened to it he said to Hera. "OH HOLY SHIT I ALMOST FORGOT, HERA COME WITH ME RIGHT NOW TO YOUR LITTLE COLT'S ROOM!" He grabs her by her hoof and rushes to the colt's room and Hera sees the smileys draw everywhere. Then she says to Magnify starting to tear up "O-ok Mag if this is a joke it's really not funny", and then Magnify responds "DOES IT LOOK LIKE I'M KIDDING?!" When I came in here I saw your little colt crying an-OH SHIT SPECS!" and rushes back to the living room to check on the small colt. He's gone.

Wakes up slowly, vision blurred, head pounding in her skull. She finally regains her consciousness, looking around but sees nothing but darkness. "Hello Lyra, I see you’re finally awake," a voice says from the darkness. She tries to say something back but realizes she is gagged and bound. The lights flicker on revealing a horrifying sight.
A male pony with light brown skin, long brown mane and tail. His mouth is held into a twisted smile by two bolts at either end of his mouth, blood coming from them. He has a metal arm and saw blade attached to either side of his back and he front left leg is chopped off, replaced with an old yet sharp blade. It had obviously been there a long time because the skin had formed over the wound where it had been placed and on the sword.
The horrid thing came closer to Lyra and says "Tell me Lyra, why don't you ever smile? I mean everywhere you go I never see a smile crack on your face." She feels confused yet violated that this freak watches her, and she know she smiles. So without the ability to talk she shakes her head in disagreement, "Ah well let's put it this way, I know you smile but not on the inside. But I can help with that," he says as his smile grows bigger.
"Like for instance this place, I never see you truly smile," lights come on, almost blinding Lyra but, her eyes eventually adjust showing the harp factory where she works. "Remember this place? oh who am I kidding of course you know! This is the one place that I've never seen you truly smile. But today that all is going to change!" He says merrily as the saw blade starts to rev up. "Now hold still. This may sting a little bit." He says as he approaches her. Lyra's mind and heart instantaneously start racing, she tries with every ounce of strength to break free but can't.
The saw blade completely starts up now and begins to cut the soft skin of the grass green pony, her screams go past even the muffle.
Wakes up with a start at the loud sound of the early morning news on T.V, the grey stallion sits up with beer cans falling off him. Still woozy from last night, tries to focus on the T.V, when "Special Report" flash on the screen. He immediately pays attention. A news mare comes on screen saying, "Yet another murder was committed this month by none other than S.F.S, or A.K.A "The Smiley Face Slaughterer", this time it was a young mare named Lyra who was reported missing by her closest friend Bon Bon when she reported that Lyra never returned from work that evening.”
The grey pegasus curses, then goes to go fix himself up, he straightens his short black mane, puts on his jacket, badge, and gun, then flies off to the scene of the crime. He reaches it with the police there, he lands, shows his badge and enters the scene. "So what happened?" asked the grey stallion "in here," says one of the police "Mr....." continues the R because of not knowing the grey stallion’s name. ”Magnify, Magnify's the name," replies the stallion, "Alright" says the officer back and leads him into the factory, they go in and see a disgusting sight, with the smell of blood and decay to go along.
As they get closer the officer describes what happened. " So the victim’s body was cut in half but not tearing the organs inside, and he took out the intestines and laid them here first, then he took all other organs and bones to make the outside of a harp. Left the upper body and torso to make the curved front part where it meets and used the intestines to make the "strings", of it and there were massive lacerations on her back of faces smiling and she herself is doing so. Also for some reason the eyes were removed and we still haven't found wher-", another pony interrupts by calling, "Sir, over here!" Both stallions walk over "What is it?" says the older officer. "We've located the eyes, sir, over here." says the younger officer while pointing into a room.
They all go in and see a pair of eyes balls laying on a sheet of paper, thee older officer walks over and picks up the paper and hands the eyes to the younger officer saying “Take these to the research lab," The young officer walks out. The officer picks up the paper and looks at it confused "Hmmm, well I can't really understand this can you take a look at it?" he says as he hands the paper over to Magnify, almost instantaneously when he looked at it, he dropped the paper to the floor and went with it while holding his head having visions...
