Today was a good day, not too hot or too cold, which depending on your temperature preferences. I was sitting in a quiet part the city park reading a book, though by quiet I mean just far enough away that I couldn't hear any specific conversation.
Oh, right, I'm a mixed male with black hair and green eyes, you'll hear my name later. I was reading a history book, name of said book it irrelevant, when a group of kids ran past my table. I didn't pay them much mind when I saw a white stick of chalk fall out of one of their boxes. I was close to dismissing it when, out of the corner of my eye, it seemed to change to pink.
I looked towards it, 'Wasn't that thing white?' I say in thought.
I was a bout to turn back to my book when it changed to sky blue.
"Okay... That isn't right," I say to no one.
I get up to walk to it, the soft grass flattening under my shoes.
It changed to grass green.
'Definitly not right.' I think.
As I get closer and uneasy feeling creeps up on me but I keep going.
The feeling grows as I am standing over it, it changes to yellow.
I look around, noting how nobody but me has seen the stick of chalk change color.
I look down on it, it changes to orange.
I bend down to touch it, as I do a wave of nausea hits me like a freight train, sending me teetering forward. My head was about to hit the ground when everything went black.
Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship, Element of Magic, was sitting in her seat eating her lunch with her friends Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Spike (who is her son and doesn't know it) around the 'Cutie Map' in the 'Friendship Castle' (she doesn't like the name).
They were making small talk-
"Hey, arent you going to tell them what we're talking about?" Pinkie asked.
"Pinkie, who are you talking to?" Rarity asked, confused.
No, Pinkie, cause I'm new to this and too lazy...
"Turn off those Redd-" The author cut her off.
Oh look at that, the plots moving! nervous akward laugher.
Everypony was looking at her with confusion.
Twilight and Rarity's horns started glowing, they both started feeling a 'pull'.
"You feel it too?" Twilight asked Rarity, everypony else looking at them.
Rarity nodded, "Somepony's casting a very powerful spell," she responded, the 'pull' becoming slightly uncomfortable.
"Come on girls." Twilight says as she gets up from her throne and starts walking towards the door to the hall, the others following suit.
Out in Ponyville, every unicorn was looking towards the Everfree Forest, wispering to other ponies about whats happening.
"A powerful spell is being cast in the Everfree." One Unicorn said to an Earth Pony, a Pegasus hovering near them.
"Somepony should get Princess Twilight," said another Unicorn, glancing at the Friendship Castle, watching as said pony walks out of it along with the rest of the Elements of Harmony.
"Nevermind." she said.
Up in Canterlot Castle sat Princess Celestia and Princess Luna, the two 'most powerful being alive.' Rulers of the day and night.
The throne room doors slamed open, startling and almost pancaking the two guards into the walls if it wasn't for their good placement.
"Sister!" Luna yelled, almost using the 'Royal Canterlot Voice,' "did thou not feel that?!" she asked, the Royal guards quickly regaining their posture and stoic expressions.
"Yes I have," Celestia said, "it came from the Everfree, I will be dispatching my guards to protect Ponyville while Twilight is no doubt investigating it." she said, an ink well, parchment, and quill floating in her billowing, golden, magical aura.
"But with a spell this powerful, surely it make more sense for us to be there, considering where it came from?" Luna suggested.
"No need, I'm sure she can handle it," The older alicorn responded, sending the finished letter to her guard captain.
"Humph, we shall still prepare our armor." Luna said in a huff, walking out of the throne room and closing the door behind her.
Celestia chuckled, "She might be a little disappointed," she calmly said before getting up off her throne and setting of for the dining room, "She'll get over it." she smiled, while eating the cake in front of her.
...Plap
My forehead was hit with something wet.
"Mmhhh," I grumbled.
...Plap
It's water.
...The color changing chalk.
"Gasp" my eyes shoot open as I look around.
A cave... A deep, dark, surprisingly dry cave.
I look to my left, dead end. I look to my right, a forest.
"I'll just stay here..." I mutter, my shock turning into fear and confusion.
I felt a cylinder shape under my right hand, I look down to see the stick of chalk again. "Nope!" I immediately start scooting away from it, my fear returning, "No no, nope!" My back hits the the wall of the cave.
It disappears and reappears in my right pocket. I fish it out and throw it to the far cave wall where it breaks in half, both pieces falling to the floor. It stayed like that for a good two seconds before it disappeared and reappeared in my pocket, whole again.
I took it back out and held it in front of my face, "What do you want?!" I say, then it hit me, "I'm afaid of an inanimate object ment for kids, and now I'm talking to it, ehe."
I'm not very okay with not knowing where I am, just so you know.
"Didn't you change colors?" It didn't do anything,"Hmmm, green?" It changed to green, "At lease I have something to do while I collect myself." I mutter to myself.
Twilight and her friends were walking through the Everfree, they've been going down a worn path in the general direction of the 'pull' for two minutes now.
"Are we there yet?" the impatient pony, Rainbow Dash asked.
"No, Dash, plus this gives us time to come up with a plan," Twilight responded, "I was thinking me, you and Applejack go in and see what the spell was so about while Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie stay on the path so we can find our way back."
"Aww, but I want to see the alien," Pinkie whined.
"What do you mean 'alien'?" Twilight asked.
"Just a hunch." she winked.
Ugh, well I guess it time for some more exposition.
I had a good job before myself in this cave, had a decent house, but my car was a little on the older side. I was an only child, and if you see where this is going, my parents are dead, been like that for five years now. Single.
Now thats done. I've been on the cave floor drawing whatever I could come up with, at one point I was drawing a little house, I was on the windows when before I could say a color I was thinking of a very specific shade of white, the kind where it seems like it was glowing, when the chalk changed from black (I was using for the outline) to white, it didn't look any different from the first color.
'It reacts to my thoughts?' I was very confused.
"Hmm..." 'Indigo,' I thought.
It changed.
'Purple,'
Changed.
'Turquois,'
Change.
"Let me guess, I can play with my drawings, hehe." Like that'll ever happen..."
...
What if I could?
My curiosity piqued I tap the door bell of my house drawing... Nothing. 'What if I...'
I drew a simple, white, straight line. I intended it to be a rigid stick. I then put my fingers around it and closed.
It came up, and it was very hard to bend.
I put it back down and it became apart of the floor again.
I stared at the chalk on the ground next to it in awe and disbelief. 'I'm losing my mind,' I summarised, "It's the only way!" I half yelled, the cave making it louder.
"Is somepony there?" a faint voice called. "Hello?" It asked again, clearly outside of the cave I was calling home at the moment.
"You're attached to me," -I looked at the now pure white chalk- "aren't you?"
It responded by teleporting back into my right pocket.
I started walking towards the intrance of the cave. "Yes, I'm here," I answered the person's unanswered question, "you won't believe the day just haaaa....." my train of thought crashed and burned as standing in front of me were three tiny, pastel, horse looking things, possibly ponies, with heads too big for their bodies, and eyes too big for their heads, with wings and horns, and the blue one with wingsand a rainbow mane and tail was on my chest.
Glaring and yelling at me.
Author's Note
My setups are obvious aren't they?
Well you heard what I told Pinkie, CRITICIZE ME!
