Rats at the Mansion
My name is Twilight V. Sparkle, and this is my confession. I never meant to hurt anyone. I understand why no one believe me but I’m not insane. You never found the body and that’s why I believe they took it. I can clearly remember what happened, but it also feels surreal. I apologize for getting a head of myself. I shall start from the beginning. Around midnight, I woke up to a knock on my door. There I found a letter at my doorstep. It was from Miss Celestia, my professor from when I was still studying. It was not written by my professor; I could tell from its hideous handwriting. The subject matter was of Celestia health, it was rapidly decreasing from a mysterious illness. I never imagine Celestia would contact me in any way, shape or form. We were once very close, as close as one could get but we had a terrible fight, one that got physical. After going our separate ways, we never spoke again, until now. It had to be serious if she was willing to contact me.
Not long after, I pack up my stuff and took the train at the dead of night, heading towards the city. It was not hard to find her new home and it was nice to meet once more. She hasn’t change one bit. While eating I hear noises from the home. Low muffle sounds from the walls. Celestia told me that she has a big problem with rats. Most days she would spend it in bed, ill. That night she decided to force herself to stand and cook for my visit. I could tell the home hasn’t been property taken care of and so, I offer to help clean up starting tomorrow morning. After we finish our meal, I took her to bed. That’s when I realize how skinny she had become. She asks me to stay over for the time being and I accepted. Taking the room closest to her. The first night my door open and I call out Celestia name, but no one answer. In fact, there was no one on the other side and Celestia was sound asleep. My door open multiply time during the night until I lock it. As soon as daybreak, I decided to start working around the house before Celestia woke up. It was hard work, but I was happy to help in any way I could. While swiping the floor of the living room, a noise caught my attention. A repeated clicking noise would come from the floorboards. I got on my knees and put my eye in between the floorboards. It was hard to see with the lack of light, but I was sure I saw something black and much bigger than a rat. At that moment I was call by Celestia. She was standing by the doorway, asking what I was doing. I warned her that she may have raccoons and not rats. Celestia laugh but ignore my worry. I made breakfast and after eating we started cleaning. I would do most of the heavy lifting or anything that required too much movement while Celestia provided the beverages.
On my second night I lock the door, but someone would continuously turn the handle and once I open the door, there was no one. The next morning, I brought Celestia downstairs and made breakfast. When mentioning I was going to clean up the basement, Celestia turn nasty. We had a fight that day. I said things I wish I could take back. The rest of the day was spent in silence. Celestia stay in the living room while I clean the attic. That night when I lay Celestia in bed she apologized, and I weep in her arms. I stay in her room until late night, she was sound asleep before I went to my bedroom. The muffles noises from the walls had become a daily occurrence but that night was different. Someone knock on my door and when I call out Celestia name it would stop but continue shortly after. I tentative approach the door. The negligible light source didn’t help but it was enough to see something hideous and I let out a piercing scream. From the bottom of my door someone had stuck out their fingers. The strange part was the black, wrinkly skin with yellow nails. When I let out my scream, it had disappeared. I look through the home for any signs of a breaking but found none. Celestia was still sleeping and I decided not to worry her. That night I found myself unable to sleep and lay wide awake until the rising sun. In the morning I told Celestia of my experience. She didn’t believe me, but she could tell I hadn’t had a wink of sleep. We took the day off. Around afternoon a doctor showed up for her weekly examination. It was not good news. That night when I took Celestia up to bed, I asks if I could stay with her and she just smile. I had forgotten how beautiful her smile was. I lay on bed for hours, sleep deprive. My body beg for sleep by my mind was racing. Thoughts after thoughts of the animals living on the walls, the unexplained events at night and the fact that my time next to Celestia was coming to an end.
At dusk when the house was the quietest, a male voice could be hear. It would murmur outside Celestia door. I got up and when I open the door, no one was there. I’ve grown tired of being scare, so I pick up a flashlight and explore the house. The second floor was clear. When I was walking down the stairs to the first floor, I stop on my tracks. Spotting a shadow by the window. While forcing my eyes to focus on the stranger. I felt someone creeping behind my back and I quickly turn to find a shadowy figure with bright blue eyes and holding a weapon. That person held a knife over his head and plunged it towards my face. I protected my head with my left hand, but it was brutally slash. I fell down the stairs and saw the figure coming down. I ran towards the closes phone but when I reach the kitchen, I fell over once more. I got very dizzy from the blood lost. My arm had a deep cut from one side to the other, forming a puddle of blood where I had falling over. I got up and sluggishly walk to the end of the counter to pick up the phone. It was no use because the figure had me cornered. He ran had me at full speed but the figure slip with my blood, impaling himself with the knife. I stood there for a couple minute as that thing bleed out and I grab the knife from his body.
Not long after I call the police, Celestia came downstairs, but it was not her. I had her face and her body, but there was something off. I couldn’t tell what it was, but it was not right. She would look at the body on the floor and ask what I done. Celestia would hurl insult at me and she would bring up the past to hurt me for the last time. The fight quickly escalated. I became infuriated and brought down the knife to her chest. As I watch her body flop on the floor It hadn’t register what I done. That’s when the noises of the home grew. They were voices coming from in between the walls. Footsteps coming from the second floor and shadows peek from the windows. They were so many of them. I took shelter in the only place I could think of. I hid on the basement and lock the door behind me. It was dark and had a foul smell. At the bottom of the floor was a rectangle box made of stone. Upon close inspection, I discover that it was a tomb with something inside. I would hesitantly approach the open tomb and what I found would break me. I couldn’t take it anymore and started to madly scream because at that tomb, I found the rotting corpse of Miss Celestia.
