Just a random quick executed idea inspired by cavetown. Criticism is welcomed!

The rain was trickling down the 3 story apartment as Sunset Shimmer was up late lazily laying across her couch working on homework, red bull cans scattered everywhere, and an eraser in her mouth. In her typical fashion, she had put it off until last minute keeping her up ‘til the ungodly hour of 2 am studying some book with big words for her physics test. “I really gotta stop doing this Ray.” she half yawned to her tiny lizard sitting in his tank.
Her eyes had started slowly closing and her head started tilting down into the oblivion until she abruptly was awoken by a loud pop ring tone. “AHHH” she accidentally shouted falling face-first off the couch onto her carpeted floor. “Shit! Haha... it’s just my phone” she picked it up smiling but then arching her eyebrow at who it was. What was Twilight Sparkle doing calling her at this hour? Stumbling up off the ground muttering profanities as she did, she managed to unlock and answer her phone. “Twi?” she questioned running a hand through her unkempt frazzled hair, the rain had really picked up she noticed.
“Sunset haha hey uh I didn’t wake you did I? Sorry if I did!” she nervously replied "I mean I guess I just figured that you were still awake since I know you have insomnia and you're always up late. I am too as of late! Haha, crazy mind crazy thoughts but I can let you go, I mean we could always talk when the sunlight is actually out as opposed to you know when it's dark out, but the stars are just so pretty and bright, oh, and it"s nice to stargaze! You know, Carl Sagan once said the cos-" she rambled on at the speed of sound.
"Twilight!" there was a silence on the other end. “Of course it’s fine, you know you can call me whenever. Is everything alright?” Sunset sat back on the couch fidgeting as more uneasy silence followed along with a shaky breath.
“Yeah, I’m uh good, I'm great…. actually... I'm not sure…” she said trailing off.
“What’s wrong Twi?” concern filled her voice anxiously waiting for a reply that took a few seconds to come.
“Everything is just a lot sometimes you know?” she practically whimpered out. Even more confused than when the phone call began, she tried to dig deeper into the girl's thoughts.
“Could you give me some examples? I mean I know I can read minds, but it doesn’t work over the phone heh..” the joke turned up no laugh.
“All of it!” she shouted “Me, you, the girls, the magic, I’ve hardly slept since that day at the friendship games! Months Sunset, its been 3 months! How am I supposed to live like this? I'm up all night stressing about things so small that nobody else would even care about! Paranoid about every little thing” Her breathing had picked up to the point of hyperventilating “What am I supposed to do?! I cant! I can't…” her words developed into sobs in the midst of her breakdown.
“Twilight please just breathe it’ll be ok, count with me alright?” she paused hoping she was listening. “Ok one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten...” deep breathes filled the air. “Better?” Sunset questioned desperately hoping the answer would be yes.
“Yes yeah I’m so sorry the magic on top of the nightmares has me on edge.” Sunset sighed.
“The nightmares are back? I’m so sorry Twilight, I should’ve been there.”
Twilight scoffed “To do what Sunset? Hold my hand every second of the day? I dug this hole myself, its only fair I’m the one to deal with the mess I created.”
Sunset suddenly felt a wave of anger in her chest. “With the mess you created? Twi- what in the hell are you talking about? We’re all friends, no actually, you are my BEST friend! And to say its just your mistake? It’s my mistake too, I’m the reason you got your hands on magic to begin with if anything it’s my fault!” at some point she had escalated to yelling, thunder matching her tone.
“No! I’m the one who couldn’t take no for an answer, I ignored all the warning signs, including yours just because I wanted to learn and I almost ruined everything!”
At some point, tears had started rolling down Sunsets cheek without her even realizing. “And instead of trying harder, I screamed at you made you cry and pushed you even farther, it kills me seeing you in pain! It’s all my fault you’d be better off if you had never met me.”
“How could you… how can you honestly say that Sunset? Better off without you, are you freaking insane? With the bad came the good, I mean you changed my life. In fact, you saved it even with all the fear I know I still need you here. It’s you Sunny... Its always been you.” It’s funny how just a few sentences can change how your night is going.
Sunset had really found herself at a loss for words suddenly.
“I um.. wait you what?” with a newfound confidence Twilight shouted all her feelings out for everyone to hear.
“It’s you sunset! Im in love with you! From the day we met, I knew when I fell you’d catch me Its ALWAYS you who catches me!” Twilights head was spinning. “ I mean… is it me for you too?”
“Gods, of course, Twi. Of course, I love you too. I just never expected you to feel the same.” It was like a weight had been lifted off of the world

“How could I not, you're you” Twilight laughed. “So.. do you maybe wanna go to dinner and a movie sometime?”
Sunset grinned. Just another one of those nights had turned into something special. "How about tomorrow at eight?"
She replied heart rhythmically thumping in her chest. "I wouldn't miss it for the world sunny."
