Chapters "I'm tired of it." Said Spike to himself. "I'm tired of always having to do every single chore that Twilight and the others want me to do while they all have fun. I'm tired of them pranking me with the most ridiculous pranks that they come up with, even when I don’t want to be pranked. I'm tired of not being able to do what I want most of the time. I'm only 14, but am worked like an adult."
Spike was busy doing all the chores again while Twilight and her friends were in Canterlot for a special party. Twilight had told him to clean while they were at the party
When Spike was done cleaning, several hours later, he was just about to relax when Twilight came back and told him that she needed him to go get more quills and ink from town while her friends were at Sweet Apple Acres for Apple bloom's birthday.
"Could I come too?" Asked Spike
"No. I need you to get the quills and ink for me. Then I need you to go to Canterlot to pick something I forgot and bring it back" Replied Twilight, leaving Spike.
Once Twilight was out of sight, Spike mumbled to himself "That's it. I'm going to leave."
He ran back to the library and started packing all his stuff into his small bag before walking away from Ponyville towards the Everfree forest. He passed by the cave where the tree of harmony was and kept going.
By this time, the party had ended. When Twilight got back to the library, she didn't find the quills and ink or the object she needed from Canterlot anywhere.
"Spike, I told you to get quills and ink for me." Yelled Twilight, only to get no answer
"Spike." Said Twilight. She checked to see if he was in their room, but he wasn't there.
Twilight quickly gathered her friends at the library to tell them.
"Is something wrong Twilight, you seemed stressed when you called us over here."
"I am stressed." Said Twilight. "I can't find Spike anywhere."
'What!" Said Pinkie, "We have to find him. Where do you think he went?"
"I don't know. But we have to find him. Rainbow, I need you to gather everypony in town to help look for him."
"On it." Said Rainbow, leaving the library.
Spike was still walking through the forest. He walked for 50 more miles before it started to get dark. He couldn't see that there was a large cliff in front of him, so he fell and got several wounds all over his body. When he reached the bottom, he was in too much pain to move and was exhausted. He fought to stay awake and continue walking, but his exhaustion overtook him.
When Spike fell asleep, a figure approached him from out of the mist.
"You poor dragon." The figure, who had revealed to be a female spider-pony with a violet coat with spider legs that ended with purple and a sparkling mane and light blue eyes, said. She lifted him in her hooves and took him back to her house in the woods for the night.
Meanwhile, all of Ponyville was searching for Spike. They had been searching for several hours but there was no sightings of the purple dragon.
Soon, they all gave up searching for the night. They were all tired and could not stay awake for much longer, but had pinkie promised Twilight that they would continue searching tomorrow. Twilight was grateful for their help, She would be asking the Princesses for help tomorrow.
The next morning, Spike woke up to the sound of a blender going. He slowly sat up on the couch he was on and turned towards the source of the noise.
There was the spider-pony standing there making breakfast for the two of them. Spike tried to quietly leave, but the spider-pony turned around and saw him.
"Great, you woke up just in time. I just finished making breakfast." She said
"Where am I?" asked Spike
"You're in my house. I was out getting more fruit for my smoothies last night when I saw you lying on the ground unconscious. So I brought you back to my house and laid you on my couch. What were you even doing out in the forest anyway?"
"I was running away. I used to live in a town called Ponyville with a unicorn named Twilight Sparkle, but all I ever did was work. She got to go on crazy adventures with her five friends, have fun at parties, and experience many exciting events. And what was I doing during all that. Work."
Spike had begun to cry as he kept going.
"I never got to experience thrilling adventures, or have a great time at my friends' parties, or have a normal childhood. All I was ever wanted for was work."
The spider-pony walked over to Spike and brought him closer to her.
"I'm sorry that you never had the life you wanted, but I promise that you'll never feel like that again.
"Thank you, um."
"Oh, I'm Violet Spark."
"I'm Spike." replied Spike.
"Well, Spike. How about I let you get settled into your new home, and tomorrow I show you the nearby city, Hybrid City."
"Okay." Said Spike. "Wait, where's my bag."
"It's in my room. I went back for it after I laid you on my couch. Now, I'll show you your new room in our house."
"Okay."
Violet showed Spike his new room and let him unpack his things he brought with, while she brought the two smoothies to her table. After Spike unpacked, he came into the dining room and he and Violet drank their smoothies.
Back in Ponyville, the ponies had already continued to search for Spike. They began to include the Everfree forest in their searching range and enlisted Zecora to help them look for Spike.
But they never found him, especially since he was too far for any messages to reach him.
One by one, they began to give up, until all that was left was the mane 6, currently exploring the Everfree again.
"Come on. Where is he?" Complained Rainbow
"He might be farther in the Everfree forest than we've ever been." Said Twilight. "Come on, let's go."
The six ran further and further in until they had reached Violet's house. Twilight went and knocked on the door to the house.
Seconds later, Violet opened the door. "Who are you?" She asked
"I'm Twilight Sparkle and these are my friends. We're here looking for a purple dragon with green scales named Spike. Have you seen him?"
"He is here, but he told me about what you did to him, and I'm not letting you 6 take him back so you can do it again. Either you go back to your home, or I'll have to web you to the trees outside." She angrily replied before slamming the door in Twilight's face.
Twilight didn't give up and teleported the 6 of them inside the house. Only to find Spike hiding on Violet's spider body.
"Do you six ever give up? Spike clearly doesn't want to leave with you." Yelled Violet. "I'm only giving you one more chance to go back to Ponyville or you'll be stuck outside on the trees forever."
Twilight was frightened. As much as she didn't want to leave without Spike, she knew she would have to or she would be stuck to a tree.
“Just let me ask Spike something.”
“What?”
“Why? Why did you leave, Spike?”
“Because I was angry, all I was ever used for was work. No parties, no adventures, no regular childhood. Just work, work, work. Don’t even try to convince me to go back to Ponyville, it won’t work.”
Twilight and the other 5 tried to come think of something that would disprove his claim, but thought of nothing.
"I'm sorry Spike." Said Twilight before teleporting them back to Ponyville. She quietly walked back to the library, leaving the other five shocked that Twilight gave up that easily. Then they also left to go back to their houses.
"Don't worry Spike." Said Violet, comfortingly. "They're gone."
Spike got off of Violet's back and walked in front of her. He hugged one of her spider legs before she lifted him up and hugged him with her hooves.
"Thank you." Said Spike
"You're welcome Spike. Just remember that you'll always have a place here."
As soon as Violet said that, Spike drifted off to sleep. She carried him off to his new room and laid him in his bed.
She kissed him on his head and said "Goodnight Spike."
When the sun started to shine into Violet's home, Spike and Violet woke up and walked out of their rooms for breakfast before going to explore Hybrid City.
"Morning Violet." Said Spike
"Morning Spike." Replied Violet, "Are you excited to visit Hybrid City today?"
"Totally. When will we be going?"
"We'll be going after breakfast. I'm making pancakes and eggs for us."
"Yum."
Violet began to make breakfast for them while Spike sat at the table waiting.
Violet and Spike had the pancakes and eggs before they prepared to visit Hybrid City. When they arrived at the city, Spike was in awe of it.
"Spike, welcome to Hybrid City."
"It's amazing."
The two walked through the large city, Violet giving Spike a tour of it.
The last stop of the tour was the HCF(Hybrid Production Facility), where several non hybrids were willingly turned into whatever hybrid they chose to be.
"Spike." Said Violet
"Yeah Violet."
"Now that I've shown you the city, are you ready to become a hybrid like us? Don't worry about losing your personality or memories. The process only affects your physical form."
Spike thought about this for 30 seconds before hearing his stomach grumbling. "How about I think about it while we have lunch? I'm starving."
"Alright, I'm kinda hungry myself."
"Great. Now, where's your favorite place to eat in Hybrid City?"
Violet took him to a pizza restaurant that she commonly visited when she was in the city. It was called Fried Ham's pizza and was owned by Fried Ham, a hybrid of a centaur and a hippogriff.
The two of them walked inside and sat at a window seat and ordered a medium olive pizza.
"So." Said Violet, while eating the pizza, "Have you decided if you want to become a hybrid yet?"
"I think I'll wait a little longer. But maybe next time we visit Hybrid City, I will."
"Alright."
Back in Ponyville, Twilight hadn't left her castle since the mane 6 left Violet's house. Celestia was coming to visit that day, but Twilight didn't remember.
The chariot landed in Ponyville with Princess Celestia not very much later.
“Twilight.”
“Princess, I completely forgot that you were visiting today.”
“It’s completely fine, Twilight. Though where is Spike?”
At the mention of Spike, Twilight suddenly started crying hard. “He’s gone.”
“Gone where?”
“I’m not sure what the exact location is, but it’s really deep in the Everfree forest.”
“Did he say why he ran away?”
Twilight had a hard time telling Celestia the reason Spike ran away, but she knew that she would eventually find out.
“He said that he ran away because I overworked him, didn’t let him come to parties or on adventures, and didn’t let him have a normal childhood.”
After hearing this, Celestia grew very stern.
“Twilight, did you actually do those things?”
Twilight sighed, “Yes.”
“Twilight, do you remember what I said when I gave you Spike instead of raising him myself?”
“That you trusted me to take good care of Spike.”
“And have you been doing that?”
“No.”
“I will help you find Spike. But once we find him, I’m taking him back to Canterlot.”
“I don’t think that he will like that, he seems happy where he is. I’ll take us to him.”
Twilight teleported them to Violet’s house just a few minutes after Violet and Spike got back.
“This is where Spike is.”
Celestia knocked on the door to the house and then waited for a answer.
Inside the house, Violet and Spike were playing a trivia game that Violet had. Whoever’s turn it was had to ask a random question and see if the other player(s) could answer. Then they heard a knock on the door.
“I’ll get it.” Said Spike.
He walked to the door and opened it, revealing Celestia and Twilight.
“Spike, I’ve heard that you ran away from your old home.”
“I did.” Said Spike, “And don’t even try to bring me back. I’ve had lots more fun here than I ever had in Equestria.”
“How have you managed to survive by yourself?” Asked Celestia.
“I haven’t been alone.” Said Spike, “Violet, come over here.”
Violet walked over to where Spike was and saw Celestia standing there.
“Not this again.” Said Violet, seeing Twilight there. “Listen, I already said it once and I will say it again. Leave before you become stuck on the trees.”
“Ahem. I’d like it if you didn’t threaten my student like that.” Said Celestia.
“Sorry. I heard about what she did to Spike and it made me upset at her.”
“I understand.”
“Anyway, who are you?”
“I am Princess Celestia, one of the rulers of the kingdom of Equestria.”
“P-Princess?!” Exclaimed Violet, quickly bowing.
“Rise.” Said Celestia.
Violet slowly stopped bowing to Celestia, “Your highness, I am Violet Spark. I assume that you are here because of Spike.”
“Yes.” Replied Celestia, “How is he?”
“He has a few cuts and bruises from falling down the nearby cliff, but nothing too severe. Other than that, he is safe.”
“Good, I trust that you’ll be a good caretaker for Spike.”
“Yes, Princess. You can count on me.”
“Then I give the duty of raising Spike to you, with all of the responsibilities that come with it. I am also permitting my student and her friends to visit Spike once every week.”
“Thank you, Princess. I promise that Spike is in good hooves.”
Celestia teleported herself and Twilight back to Ponyville. Twilight quietly walked back into her castle while Celestia took the chariot back to Canterlot to lower the sun.
Back at Violet’s house, Violet and Spike just finished their trivia game and, seeing how it was dark outside, went to sleep for the night.
The next day, Celestia had just woken up to raise the sun and met Luna out on the balcony lowering the moon.
“Morning, Tia.”
“Morning, Luna.”
“I noticed that you were gone for a long time yesterday. Did something happen?” Asked Luna.
“Yes.” Replied Celestia. “Spike ran away.”
“He ran away?!” Exclaimed Luna. “For what reason?”
“It’s a long story.”
“Tell me.”
“When Twilight was a filly, she hatched Spike from his egg. She wanted to take care of him so bad, but I preferred that Spike be raised by somepony older.”
“Really?”
“Yes. Anyway, Twilight kept trying to get me to let her raise Spike and eventually, I gave in because she was keeping me from my duties.”
“Ha, that’s hilarious.” Said Luna, laughing.
Celestia glared at her for a second before continuing.
“I had allowed her to take care of Spike as long as she was responsible. She had agreed immediately after I said that, and I mean immediately.”
“Interesting, she really wanted to raise Spike that bad.”
“Yes.” Replied Celestia. “But apparently when I sent her to Ponyville, she started to give him more and more work until he barely had time for anything else.”
“That’s not good. Have you talked to Twilight about this?”
“Yes.” Replied Celestia. “After I found out and talked to her about it, she teleported us to his location.”
“Where is he?” Asked Luna.
“He is in a large house very deep in the Everfree forest owned by a spider-pony named Violet Spark.”
Celestia gave Luna a map that had a flashing dot right where Spike was.
“That dot is Spike’s location. Use it when you wish to see him.”
“Thank you, sister.”
Luna was just about to leave the balcony when she heard Celestia call her.
“Luna, one more thing.”
“What is it?”
“If Violet Spark asks who you are, tell her that you are my sister. And do not try to take Spike, for I have given the responsibility of raising Spike to Violet Spark,”
“Thank you for the advice, Tia.”
Luna walked back into the castle holding the map in her magic. She was thinking about visiting Spike at his new home, but she needed to eat first, for she was hungry. She and Celestia had pancakes, made by Celestia, for their breakfast.
After the pancakes were gone, Luna had decided that she would visit Spike, but first she had a few things that she needed to deal with first.
An hour and a half ago at Violet’s house, Violet and Spike had just woken up. They had decided to spend the day together at their home. Violet made prench toast and haybacon for them for breakfast.
“Mm, thanks for the prench toast and haybacon, Violet.” Said Spike, beginning to eat the food.
“You’re welcome.” Replied Violet, just sitting down.
The two ate their breakfast before Violet put the dishes in the sink to clean later.
So, what do you want to do today, Spike?”
“Hmm.” Said Spike, thinking. Then an idea popped into his head.
“Where’s the most beautiful places around here?”
“There are a bunch of ones close to here. I could show you one later.”
“Okay.” Replied Spike.
Right after Spike said that, there was a knock at the door.
“I wonder who that could be.” Said Violet, walking towards the door.
She opened the door to reveal Luna there.
“Greetings, Violet Spark.”
“Um, hello.” Replied Violet. “Who are you and how do you know my name?”
“I am Princess Luna. My sister has told me about you and how you are caring for Spike.”
“Who is your sister, if you don’t mind me asking, Princess.”
“My sister is Princess Celestia. She told me the location of your house.”
“Oh, so you two are siblings? Interesting. Well, want to join us for a little bit?”
“I'd like that.” Replied Luna.
Luna walked into the house before Violet closed the door.
“Spike, we have another visitor.” Said Violet.
“Who is it?” Asked Spike, before walking towards the door. “Luna?!” He exclaimed with slight excitement.
“Spike, I’ve come to see you. I hope you’re doing well.”
“Better than ever.” Replied Spike.
“So, Princess Luna. I have some fun games that we could play.”
Violet pulled out a bunch of games that she had. Luna had chosen monopony, for she preferred games that were simple, yet not very boring.
Luna chose a unicorn, Violet chose a dragon, and Spike chose a rainbow. They played for 3 hours before Luna and Violet went bankrupt.
“That was a great game.” Said Luna. “I had such a good time. But it time for me to leave. I’ll be visiting again sometime. Farewell, Spike and Violet.”
“Bye, Luna.” Said Spike
Goodbye, Princess.”
Luna walked out the door and began flying back to Canterlot.
“So, Spike.” Said Violet. “About that beautiful place I said I would show you.”
“What about it?”
“Ready to go see it?”
“Definitely.” Said Spike, jumping from excitement.
“Then let’s go.” Said Violet.
Violet and Spike exited their house and walked through the forest, going on a trail not leading to Ponyville or Hybrid City.
After two and a half hours of walking, they finally reached where she wanted to take him.
It was a mountain overlooking a valley with several floating islands above it. Some had entire forests, others had lakes and rivers with waterfalls, while others had only grass.
“You were right.” Said Spike. “This is beautiful.”
“I know. I like coming here often. Looking out at this makes me feel completely relaxed.”
The two stopped talking for about five minutes before Violet started crying.
“Violet, what’s wrong?” Asked Spike.
Violet looked at Spike and said “I’m sorry, Spike. It’s just, I’ve never had anycreature to enjoy this with. I’ve lived alone pretty much my whole life. I just wanted to say thank you for staying with me.”
“It’s alright, Violet. I ran away because I felt alone too.” Replied Spike, hugging Violet. “I’m glad I found you, you gave me what my other friends did not.”
“T-thank you, Spike.” Replied Violet, returning the hug.
The two stayed hugging for ten minutes before heading back to their home for supper. When they finished eating, they told each other their funniest things that they’ve seen and heard. It made them laugh to the point of crying from laughter.
Before they knew it, Luna raised the moon. They went to bed not long after that.
Back in Ponyville, around 2:30 in the afternoon, three fillies just got off of school and were heading to their clubhouse in Sweet Apple Acres.
“So.” said Scootaloo. “What do you two want to do today?”
“We could go create potions with Zecora. We haven’t done that in a while.” Replied Apple bloom.
“I agree with Apple bloom.” Said Sweetie belle.
“Okay, let’s go.” Replied Scootaloo.
The CMCs ran out of the clubhouse and notified their sisters(or sister figure, in Scootaloo’s case.) Once Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow dash were informed about where they would be, they quickly ran towards the Everfree forest.
On their way there, they weren’t paying attention to the path to Zecora’s house and started walking through the dangerous forest.
A few minutes later, they started to hear something growling. At first they thought it was from their stomachs, but it kept getting louder.
Sweetie belle looked behind them and saw a pack of timberwolves.
“Why?” Asked Scootaloo and Apple bloom together.
“TIMBERWOLVES!!” Screamed Sweetie belle as she started running, quickly followed by her friends when they saw the timberwolves.
They kept running through the Everfree for miles, even after the timberwolves stopped following them.
Eventually, they stopped, completely out of breath.
“Whew, that was scary.” Said Apple bloom.
“You said it. We must’ve gone off the path.”
“I think we did.” Said Scootaloo.
While Scootaloo and Apple bloom were talking about how terrifying being chased by the timberwolves was, Sweetie belle looked around and noticed that they were lost.
“Um, where are we?” She asked.
Apple bloom and Scootaloo stopped talking and looked around.
“I don’t know.” Replied Scootaloo.
“I think that we’re lost.”
Suddenly, they heard rustling in the bushes. They huddled together and slowly approached the bush.
“Um, hello.” Said Apple bloom. “Is somepony there?”
“Apple bloom? Is that you?” Said a familiar voice.
“Spike?”
“Yeah, it’s me. What are you three doing here?”
“We were going to go create potions with Zecora, but were chased by timberwolves. What are you doing here?”
“I’m helping Violet pick berries for pies.” Replied Spike
“Who is Violet?” Asked Apple bloom
“She’s my new caretaker. I’ve been living with her for about half a week.”
“What about Twilight?”
“She wasn’t a good caretaker. I never got to have a normal childhood because of her. All she and the other 5 ever needed me for was work, so I ran away and found Violet.
“But what about Ponyville?”
“No way, I’m never going back to Ponyville, I’ve had way more fun here than I ever did before.”
“Like what?”
“Many things.”
”Cool. Well, we should probably start heading back to Ponville.”
“Wait.” Said Spike. “Want to join me and Violet for pies back at our house?”
“Sure.” Said Apple bloom
“Of course.” Said Sweetie belle
“Obviously.” Said Scootaloo.
“Great, follow me.”
The three ponies followed Spike for a few minutes. They came to a small clearing not far from a large house.
“Violet, I’ve got more guests.”
“I’m coming.” Replied Violet.
Out from behind a bunch of trees came Violet with a basket full of many different kinds of berries.
“Apple bloom, Sweetie belle, Scootaloo, this is Violet Spark. Violet, this is Apple bloom, Sweetie belle, and Scootaloo.”
“Hello.” Said Violet
“H-hi.” Replied Apple bloom. “Spike told us that you were his new caretaker.”
“I am his new caretaker.” Replied Violet.
“I invited them to join us for pies.” Said Spike.
“Well then, let’s head back to our house and make those pies.”
“Okay.” Replied Spike.
Violet, Spike, and their guests walked back to Violet and Spike’s house. While Violet was making the pies, Spike was chatting with the CMCs.
“So, how much has changed in Ponyville since I left?” Asked Spike.
“Not much, though we got our cutie marks two days ago.”
“Really, what are they?”
They didn’t say anything, but stood up and turned so he could see them.
“Cool, what do they mean?”
“They mean that our special talents are helping ponies with their special talents.”
“Interesting.”
They continued talking for 15 minutes before they heard Violet from the kitchen.
“Pies are done.”
“We’re coming.” Replied Spike
Spike and the fillies walked to the table and sat down while Violet set the pies and 5 plates down.
“Dig in everycreature.” Said Violet.
“Mmm. These are delicious, Violet.” Said Spike, having taken the first bite.
“I agree.” Said the CMCs together.
“Thanks.” Replied Violet, tears in her eyes. “I-I never have shared these with anycreature because they never accept them. It means a lot to know that you like them.”
“Don’t cry, Violet.” Said Spike. “I know that they will like them if they just tried.”
“Thanks again, Spike. It’s nice having somecreature like you to cheer me up.”
The two began hugging each other in front of their guests.
“Aww.” Said Apple bloom and Sweetie belle.
“Ugh, enough with the sappiness.” Said Scootaloo.
Violet heard this and ran to her room crying.
“SCOOTALOO!!” Yelled Spike.
“What?”
“Violet has lived by herself for most of her life. She needs someone to help her when she’s depressed. . . Just go back to Ponyville. I have a friend that needs comfort.”
Spike left the table and walked towards Violet’s room.
“Violet, it’s Spike.”
“Come in.” Said Violet, still crying.
Spike walked over to where Violet was sitting on her bed.
“Violet, don’t listen to Scootaloo.” Said Spike. “She just doesn’t understand the pain that you went through before you found me. Just remember that no matter how difficult life gets, I’ll always be right next to you.”
“Thanks, Spike. I really needed that.” Replied Violet, pulling him into a hug.
“Violet.” Said Scootaloo from the door. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that you had lived alone most of your life.”
“It’s okay, Scootaloo.” Replied Violet, letting go of Spike and hugging him.
“Hey, Scootaloo.” Said Sweetie belle. “Our sisters and Rainbow dash are here.”
“Coming.” Replied Scootaloo. “Violet.”
“Yes, Scootaloo.”
“Thanks for the pies.” She said before running towards the door.
The 6 ponies said goodbye to Spike before leaving to head back to Ponyville.
Spike and Violet talked for 15 minutes before they went to bed for the night.
The next day at Violet’s house, Spike and Violet were just walking out of their rooms.
“Morning, Spike.”
“Morning, Violet.”
“How’d you sleep?”
“Great. So, what should we do today?”
“Well, I was thinking that we could go to Hybrid city today.”
“I like that idea, but I’m still thinking about if I want to become a hybrid.”
“Okay.”
“So, what’s for breakfast this morning?”
“Cinnamon rolls.”
“Mmm. That sounds tasty.”
“They are. I’ll let you know when they are done.”
“Great, I can’t wait to try them.”
While Violet was preparing her oven for the cinnamon rolls, Spike was reading his power ponies comics in the living room.
“What are you reading?” Asked Violet
“I’m reading one of the power ponies comics that I brought with me.” Replied Spike, looking up from his comic book.
“Power ponies?”
“They are a team of super ponies that fight crime in the city of Maretropolis.”
That sounds interesting. How many different issues do you have?”
“59.”
“That’s a lot.”
“What do you like to read, Violet?”
“Well, I like to read Space Wars. It’s about a group of ponies living with robots who fight to protect the galaxy.
“That sounds exciting. Maybe we could read it together.”
“Definitely. Maybe tonight even.”
“Maybe.”
“Anyway, the cinnamon rolls are done.” Said Violet.
Spike and Violet sat down at their table ready to eat the cinnamon rolls.
“You were right, these are so good.” Said Spike, having taken a bite out of one of them.
While they were eating, Spike felt that he needed to ask Violet something.
“Hey Violet.”
“Yes. What is it, Spike?”
“I know that you probably don’t like talking about this very much, but what exactly happened that you lived alone for most of your life?”
Violet stopped eating right after he said that.
Violet sighed, “There was a accident. My family and I were traveling to Hybrid city from another town. We came to an old bridge over a deep chasm. We tried walking over the bridge, but it began to break. There was only enough time for one to get across, and I was the youngest.”
Violet began crying again. “I had to watch as my family fell to their death, and now I spend everyday wishing that they were still alive.”
Spike, feeling sorry for Violet, got off his seat and moved right next to her.
“Hey, don’t worry, Violet. Your family may not be alive physically, but I know that as long as you remember them, they’ll never die.”
“Spike, I’m truly thankful for everything you did to comfort me. I’m really glad that I found you.” Said Violet, hugging Spike
“Me too, Violet, me too.” Replied Spike, hugging her back.
After hugging for 20 minutes, Violet and Spike finished eating the cinnamon rolls and started getting ready to go to Hybrid city.
As they were walking, Violet started thinking, “He’s really helped me get through my sadness. I should do something to thank him, but what? “
“Hey, Spike. What do you enjoy doing the most?”
“Well, I really like getting gem sundaes and eating them with friends.”
“That’s what I can, and will, do. ”
When they got to Hybrid city, Violet asked Spike to get on her back and to close his eyes and cover them.
“What for?” Asked Spike.
“You’ll see.” Replied Violet.
Violet walked across the city to Dessert Diner.
“You can open your eyes now.” Said Violet.
Spike got off of Violet’s back and walked up to the counter of the diner with her.
“I’ll have two of your largest gem sundaes and a banana split.” Said Violet
“They’ll be ready in 3 to 4 minutes, you can sit down at one of the tables if you want.”
“Violet, what’s going on?” Asked Spike.
“This is my way of thanking you for helping me with my sadness.” Replied Violet. “It was the most thoughtful, selfless thing anycreature has ever said to me, and I’m not one to just say thanks and be done with it.”
“Thanks, Violet.” Replied Spike, hugging her again.
“You’re welcome, Spike.” Hugging him back and giving him a soft kiss on the forehead.
The treats came out a couple minutes later and they took them to the pond in the center of the city, which had a statue of a fox-pony.
As Spike and Violet were enjoying the treats, Spike was looking up at the statue.
“Hey, Violet. Who is that?” Asked Spike, pointing at the statue.
“That is Golden Soul.” Replied Violet. “She was the founder of Hybrid city, which had started as a simple village where hybrids lived. But soon, more and more hybrids came, slowly turning the village into a city. Hybrid city.”
“Cool. Is Golden Soul still alive?”
“No, unfortunately.”
“That’s a bummer, I really wish I could’ve met her.”
“I do too.”
“So, now what do you want to do?” Asked Spike.
“Well, there’s a arcade that I sometimes visit near here. We could go there for a while.”
“Okay, let’s go.”
Spike and Violet dumped their trash in the garbage can near them before walking to the arcade.
“So, they have many different arcade games here. What do you want to try first?”
“Let’s do that one.” Said Spike, pointing to a dartboard.
“Darts. Okay.”
“I’ll go first.” Said Spike. He threw his darts and got 23 points overall.
Then Violet went and got 41 points overall.
They played 7 rounds of this. Spike won 4 rounds and Violet won 3.
They played a few more games before they left the arcade.
“Whew, that was fun.” Said Spike.
“You said it. We should definitely do that again sometime.”
“Hey, Violet.”
“Yeah.”
“I almost forgot to mention, it’s my birthday tomorrow.”
“Really!!” Exclaimed Violet with excitement.
“Yeah, and I’d like to have the Princesses, Apple bloom, Sweetie belle, Scootaloo, Twilight and her friends, and one other guest there. If you don’t mind.”
“Whatever makes you happy is fine by me, Spike.”
“Thank you. I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me since we met.”
“It was no problem. Now, ready to head back home?”
“Yeah, I’m getting kinda tired after everything we did today.”
Violet and Spike went back to their home for the night. They went to bed not long after because they had a busy day tomorrow.
The next morning, Violet and Spike got up a little earlier than usual to start getting ready for Spike’s birthday party.
“Are you excited for your birthday party, Spike?”
“Definitely. It’s going to be so much fun.”
“I’m sure it will be.”
“So, Violet, when is your birthday?”
“My birthday is about two months from now.”
“That’s not very much time. How do you celebrate?”
“Well, I don’t really.”
“What?!” Exclaimed Spike, shocked. “Why?”
“Because when my birthday comes, I think of my family. Then I found out that when I don’t celebrate, it doesn’t hurt as much.” Replied Violet with tears in her eyes.
“Violet, I know that you miss your family, but that shouldn’t stop you from celebrating. I may not have met your family, but I know that they wouldn’t want you to do that.”
“Thanks, Spike. You’re the best friend I’ve ever had.”
“Your welcome, Violet. Now, let’s finish preparing for my birthday party,”
“Sounds good.”
Spike and Violet continued setting up for the party. It took them a few hours, but they were eventually finished.
“Spike, I’ve been wondering. Who’s the other guest you said that you were inviting?”
“Oh, he should be here any minute to help with the invitations.”
Right after he said that, they heard knocking at the door.
“I bet that’s him.” Said Spike.
Violet and Spike walked to the door and opened it to reveal a unusual figure that looked like something took a bunch of different limbs off of random creatures and smashed them together.
“Hello. I was told that this was where Spike’s birthday party was going to be and that he needed help with invitations.”
“Um. . .Okay.” Said Violet.
“Don’t worry, Violet. This is my friend Discord. Discord, this is Violet Spark.”
“Pleased to meet you.” Said Discord.
“Hello, Discord, was it?” Said Violet. “Are you sure he’s not dangerous?” Violet whispered to Spike.
“I’m very sure.”
“Well, if you trust him, then I do too.”
“Great.” Replied Spike. “So, Discord, about the invitations.”
“Right. What should be on them?”
“I invite you all to my 15th birthday party. The party will start at 3:30 today and will last 5 hours. There will be cake, ice cream, cookies, and other treats.”
“Is that everything?” Asked Discord
“Yep.” Replied Spike. “I want them delivered to Twilight and her friends, the three Princesses, Shining Armor, Twilight and Shining’s parents, and the CMCs.”
“Consider it done.” Said Discord before teleporting away.
“There, now that that’s done, we should go to Hybrid city for the treats.”
“Yeah, let’s do that.” Replied Violet.
Spike and Violet went to Hybrid city to purchase the treats for the party.
Meanwhile, in Ponyville, Discord had gathered everypony Spike said to give the invitations to in the throne room of Twilight’s castle.
“Why did you bring us here, Discord?” Asked Twilight.
“I brought you here to give you these.” He replied, handing out the invitations.
They all read the invitations and quickly got excited.
“SPIKE IS HAVING A BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!” Screamed Pinkie.
“Well, I’m free for the day.” Said Twilight. “What about all of you?”
“I don’t have any plans.” They all replied together.
“Great.” Replied Twilight. “Discord, you’ll come too, right?”
“Of course, I will.” Replied Discord. “Spike is my pal.”
“Well then, it’s only 11:30 right now. Maybe we could go a little early.”
“Sounds good.” Replied Cadence, speaking for everpony.
The ponies left the castle to buy gifts for Spike. Each one being something that he would treasure for a long time.
3 hours later, Spike and Violet had just finished setting up for the party.
“Well, it’s ready.” Said Spike
“Yeah, now we just have to wait.”
5 minutes later, they heard knocking.
“They’re here.” Exclaimed Spike, quickly rushing to open the door.
When he opened it, everpony outside shouted, “Happy birthday, Spike.”
“Come on in, everpony.” Said Spike.
The guests walked into the house, finding it completely decorated with purple and green decorations. They all set the gifts in a pile before chatting with each other.
Twilight walked up to Spike to ask him something.
“Spike.”
“Yeah, Twilight.”
“I’m glad you invited us to this, but why did you? I thought you were mad at us.”
“Well, I’ve been thinking a lot the last few days, and even if I don’t go back to Ponyville, I wanted to, at least somewhat, fix our friendship with you guys.”
“Oh, that makes sense. I’m happy that you are doing it.”
“Me too, Twilight.”
After an hour and a half, Spike and Violet decided that it was time to cut the cake.
“Everypony.” Said Spike, loud enough for them to hear him. “I wanted to thank everypony that came to my birthday party today. I really appreciate it. Now, it’s time to cut the cake.”
Violet started to cut the cake, giving the first piece to Spike, since it was his birthday. Then she got a piece, followed by Discord, Twilight, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Velvet, Night, Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie, Rarity, Rainbow, Apple bloom, Sweetie belle, and Scootaloo last.
When everypony finished the cake, Spike began to open the gifts.
Twilight got him a set of plushies to remind him of his friends from Ponyville, Applejack and Apple bloom got him a small shelf for anything he gets, Pinkie got him a custom party cannon, Rarity and Sweetie belle got him a blanket with the elements of harmony that they created, Celestia and Luna got him a lamp with the sun on one side and the moon on the other, Fluttershy got him a bag of bird seed so he could feed the birds, Rainbow and Scootaloo got him a sonic rainboom poster, Cadence and Shining got him a mini version of the Crystal Castle with the Crystal heart, Velvet and Night got him a sack of large jewels, and Violet got him the most important, but unwrapped, gift, A loving mother. She had secretly got adoption papers for Spike while they were in Hybrid city earlier.
“Spike.” Said Violet. “My gift is something that you’ll treasure for the rest of your life.”
She pulled out the adoption paper. “Spike, would you like me to be your mother?”
When Spike saw his gift from Violet, he started crying from joy.
“T-thank y-you.” Said Spike, Violet hugging him.
“Awww.” Said the rest of the ponies there.
“This was the best birthday party I’ve ever had.” Said Spike, still hugging Violet.
When they finished hugging, Spike thanked everpony for the gifts. The guests stayed for a little while longer before they began to leave, one by one.
Before Twilight left, she had one more thing to say to Spike.
“Spike, I wish you the best life with your new mother.”
“But aren’t you upset that she kinda replaced you?”
“No, I’m not. I was a terrible caretaker since we moved to Ponyville. I took something that I shouldn’t have.”
“What was that?”
“A normal childhood. Spike, I’m truly sorry for everything.”
“It’s fine, Twilight.”
“Well, I should probably get back to Ponyville. Goodbye, Spike.”
“See you soon, Twilight.”
When the last guest left, Spike and Violet hugged each other one more time before they went to bed.
During the night, two antigoes(ant-windigo hybrids) were flying through the sky towards Violet’s house. They were planning to take Spike away from Violet and leave her a message telling her where to find them and how many bits to bring with her.
“You remember the mission?” Said the first antigo.
“Yes.” Replied the second.
“Good, let’s go.”
The antigoes carefully opened the unlocked windows, trying to make as little noise as possible. They flew through Spike’s door, which was cracked open, and placed a cloth with chloroform on his mouth.
Spike woke up for a second before breathing in the chloroform and passing out. The antigoes tied up his arms and legs and put flame-proof tape over his mouth.
Before the antigoes left, they wrote a ransom note saying to bring 800 bits to the abandoned hotel in Hybrid city. Then they left with Spike.
Hours later, Violet woke up. She noticed that Spike wasn’t outside in the living room, but thought that he just slept in like a couple days ago.
An hour and a half passed, but there was still no sign of Spike. Violet started getting nervous and went to check his room.
“Spike, are you awake?” She asked, but heard nothing.
Violet walked to his bed and pulled his new blanket down, and what she saw terrified her.
The bed was completely empty. Spike was missing.
“Spike!!” Screamed Violet. She started crying because she just adopted Spike, and now he was gone.
Violet continued to cry for 3 minutes before she noticed a small paper on his shelf. She picked it up and started reading it.
“If you want to see your precious dragon again, bring 800 bits to the abandoned hotel in Hybrid city. If you don’t come with the bits, he’ll be taking a nice bath in acid.”
Violet grew angry. She immediately left her house running towards the the abandoned hotel to save her son.
“I’ve lost my family once, I’m not going to let it happen again.” She said. “But I’ll need to visit the HPF first, there’s no way I’d last like this.”
Violet quickly headed to the HPF and had a unicorn horn, flaming dragon wings, and changeling eyes added to her body.
“There, now I’m ready to rescue my son.” She said quietly on her way to the hotel.
When she arrived at the hotel, she used her wings to fly up to the top of the building and walked towards the top entrance. After getting inside, Violet saw two antigoes coming down the hallway and used her unicorn magic to turn invisible, allowing her to slip past the antigoes.
She quickly ran through the hotel, checking every single room for Spike. She found him in a cage above the pool, which was filled to the top with the acid, with the kidnappers floating in front of the cage.
“Hey, let him go!” Yelled Violet, canceling the invisibility.
The antigoes turned around and saw her flying in front of them.
“We’ll only let him go for 800 bits. Hand it over, and we’ll let him go. If you don’t, we’ll drop him.”
Violet gave them a angry look. “No, I came here to save Spike, and that’s what I’m going to do.”
“Very well.” Said one of the antigoes, pressing a button that began to slowly lower the cage.
“Violet!! Hurry!” Yelled Spike.
Violet tried attacking the antigoes, but her attacks went right through them. All while Spike kept getting closer and closer to the acid.
Violet saw it and thought of a sneaky trick. “Fine, you win.” She summoned a large bag with 800 fake bits that looked, sounded, and felt like real bits. “Just take them.”
“Wise decision.” Said one of the antigoes, taking the bag and pressing the button to release Spike.
“Mom!” Yelled Spike, running to Violet and hugging one of her spider legs while crying.
“It’s okay Spike, you’re safe now.” Replied Violet, with tears from knowing that her son was safe. “By the way, antigoes. Those bits are fake. And don’t think about taking my son again, I’ll have security next time you come.” She said before grabbing onto Spike with her spider legs and began to fly towards the door to the hotel.
Violet flew back to her house with Spike, who was now sleeping in her spider legs.
Before they landed, Violet wrapped Spike in her webbing(because spider webbing was known to keep creatures so relaxed that they slept) and carried him into the house before laying him down with her in her bed.
“Goodnight, Spike. I’ll never let you be taken away again, I promise.”

This chapter is obviously shorter than most of the others, but the next one will be longer.
The next morning, Spike woke up to find himself laying with his mom in her bed, wrapped up in spider webbing.
“Morning sweetie.” Said Violet.
“Mom, y-you saved me.” He replied. “Thank you.”
“Oh, Spike. I’ll never let you go.” Replied Violet.
The two laid there for a little while longer before Spike spoke again.
“Hey, mom.”
“Yes, Spike.”
“This is very cozy, but could you unwrap me now?”
“Oh, right.”
Violet got up and carried Spike out to the living room. “So, what’s for breakfast?” Asked Spike, while being unwrapped
“I’ll be making a pancakes, haybacon, and eggs with fresh orange juice, made from oranges grown near here. You’re probably starving after yesterday.” Replied Violet.
“Yep, so hungry.”
“I’ll start making them now.” Said Violet, having finished unwrapping Spike. “So, what would you like to do today?” Asked Violet.
“I’d like to visit my old hometown, Ponyville.” Replied Spike. “If you’re okay with that.”
“I’m okay with anything, sweetie.” Replied Violet. “Plus, I’d like to see where you lived before I found you.”
Violet finished making their breakfast, and the two began to eat. Spike, as hungry as he was, chowed on the food.
“Wow, you were hungrier than I thought.” Said Violet.
“Is this too fast?” Asked Spike.
“No, not at all.” Replied Violet.
Violet and Spike continued eating until they were full, which was when all of the food was gone.
“That was so tasty, mom.” Said Spike.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it, Spike.” Replied Violet. “We’ll go to visit Ponyville in a bit.”
“Alright. I’m excited.” Replied Spike.
“I bet you are.”
Violet and Spike sat in her living room for a half hour talking about Ponyville while their stomachs settled. After the half hour, they left their home and walked towards the path that Spike had taken a week and a half before.
“Hey, mom.” Said Spike
“What’s up, Spike?”
“What do you think would’ve happened if you hadn’t found me that night?”
“I don’t even want to think about it, sweetie.” Replied Violet. “Let’s not think about what could have happened, let’s think about what did happen.”
“Okay mom.”
6 hours later, they got to the cave with the tree of harmony.
“We’re almost there.” Said Spike
“Whew. From now on, we should fly to Ponyville instead of walking.”
“I agree.”
The duo passed by Zecora’s house a few minutes later.
“Mom, you should probably change into a pony form. Like, maybe your old appearance without the spider legs.” Said Spike.
“If you think that’s wise.” Replied Violet, changing into a pony. “Is that good?”
“That’s perfect.” Replied Spike
Violet and her son left the forest and headed towards the town.
“Violet, welcome to Ponyville.” Said Spike.
“It’s very old fashioned, in a good way.” Replied Violet.
“I knew that you’d like it. Come on, let me show you around.”
(One tour of Ponyville later)
“I like this town. I’ll definitely want to come here again sometime.”
“Spike?” Said Twilight, standing there. “What are you doing back in Ponyville?”
“I wanted to show Violet my old hometown.”
“Where is Violet, by the way?”
“She’s right here.” Replied Spike, gesturing to Violet.
“I thought that she was a spider-pony.”
“Not anymore.” Said Violet. “Now I’m a Spidra-pheuniling.”
“What’s a spidra-pheuniling?” Asked Twilight.
“It's a hybrid of a spider, dragon, phoenix, unicorn, and changeling.”
“Co-could I see your new true form?” Asked Twilight.
“Only if you have somewhere more secluded. I don’t want to freak anypony out.”
“Come to my castle.” Replied Twilight.
Violet and Spike followed Twilight back to her castle into the most secure room she had. Then Violet lowered her disguise, revealing her spidra-pheuniling appearance.
“That looks interesting.” Said Twilight. “Why did you decide to change your appearance?”
“Um, because 2 days ago, overnight, Spike got kidnapped by a gang of antigoes, which are ant-windigo hybrids. I knew that I needed to change my appearance because I wouldn’t have lasted long with just my old appearance.”
“Can you change back to your old appearance?” Asked Twilight.
“No. The process is meant to turn creatures into hybrids, not the other way around. That applies to already existing hybrids too. But Spike likes my new appearance.”
“She’s right. My mom’s new appearance is awesome.”
“Well, I’m glad that you’re safe. Want to come to Sugarcube corner for some ice cream before you head back to your house?” Asked Twilight.
“Sure.” Replied Violet and Spike at the same time.
“Then let’s go. But change back into your pony form first, Violet.”
Violet nodded, changing back into the pony. She and Spike followed Twilight to Sugarcube corner, where Pinkie was at the counter.
“Hey Twilight, and. . . Oh my gosh!!! Spike came back.”
“Calm down, Pinkie. I’m only here for the day.” Replied Spike.
“Oh, well pinkie promise that you’ll visit again.”
“I don’t have to pinkie promise, I’ll be visiting again.”
“Okay. So, what do you three want?”
“We’ll take a ice cream cake for the three of us.” Replied Twilight.
“Coming right up.” Replied Pinkie. “Take a seat at one of the tables or booths.”
A half hour later, Pinkie came out with the ice cream cake.
“Hope you enjoy it. Especially Violet, since she’s never had something from here before.”
“How did you know that I was Violet?” Asked Violet.
“Because I read the script, silly.” Replied Pinkie.
“What’s she talking about?” Violet asked Twilight.
“Just go with it. It’s a lot easier than trying to figure her out, trust me.” Replied Twilight.
“If you say so.”
Twilight, Violet, and Spike ate the ice cream cake within 25 minutes. Violet really enjoyed it and told Pinkie that she would be coming for more next time she and Spike visited Ponyville.
“Well, my son and I better head back to our home.” Said Violet.
“Okay, goodbye Violet and Spike.”
“Just hold on a second mom.” Said Spike, walking up to Twilight.
“I forgive you, Twilight. Tell the girls that too.”
“Forgive?” Questioned Twilight, “For what?”
“For all those times you’ve used me, all those times you forgot about me, all those times that you made me feel like you didn’t care about me.” Replied Spike, hugging Twilight.
“It’s alright, Spike.” Said Twilight, tears in her eyes. “Promise that you’ll stay happy?”
“I promise.” Replied Spike. “I’ll visit again sometime, and I’ll invite you to our home soon.”
Spike and Violet waved to Twilight as they walked back into the forest. Violet turned into her normal appearance and levitated Spike on her back before flying to their home for the night.
