Baa-Ram-Ewe!

-Moon Cell Realm, Midgar City, upper city, streets near a crater that was a building, Shanty and Dolly vs. Lu Bu Soul, Music: Them’s Fightin’ Hers OST, The Capricorn (Shanty)-

“You be picking a fight even with me even being in my element, you are being a far braver sod than any other.” Shanty stated and all she got was a glare and grunt in return from Lu Bu. She had to worry about the EPs but she at least had Dolly to watch her back. “Still an angry sod that should run off and grow some grass, because I be seeing that you are being basically dead and yet you still be coming after me like a wraith. So let this fight be being the end of your curse yeah!? So go off already or I’ll be helping you with that!”

Lu Bu, in the form of a crow of death, didn’t need to be told twice and slung his right fist for the quadruped’s face in a lunge that was decidedly almost too fast for the goats bar shaped eyes to follow.

Much to Lu Bu’s shock Shanty dodged around the fist and swung for his neck with the cane scythe, he leaned back and caught the blade with his left hand and tried to punch her with his right fist again.

Shanty let go and chucked a bottle of rum at the crow’s face, the spirits getting all in his eyes as the bottle shatters. It might be sad for Shanty to see rum go, but you knew how seriously she was taking this fight when she was willing to use it for offensive purposes.

The sudden bottle to the face distracted Lu Bu enough that Shanty could pull her blade free from his grasp and back away while holding the weapon at the ready. It wasn’t easy when Lu Bu was still being far physically stronger than Shanty was, even with whatever state he was currently in to even be here in front of the goat.

Dolly was in the middle of taking down a few Trooper EPs when Shanty glanced slightly in her direction, things had barely even just begun and EPs were already coming for them.

Shanty would focus on her fight with Lu Bu while Dolly takes care of the surrounding problems to the best of her abilities. While Shanty trusted Dolly with her back, Dolly was only so capable and only had so much stamina.

Sprining forward, Shanty slung her scythe from right to left and Lu Bu dodged with a short back flip and then swung his right wing forward.

Avoiding being hit by the wing, Shanty’s eyes widened at the shattering of the street after the wing made contact with it. The distraction almost made her get caught off guard as Lu Bu was blindingly fast with his lunge and swinging his other wing out horizontally to cut a light pole to Shanty’s right completely in half in a shower of sparks as the rain caused the electricity that was in the pole to bounce everywhere.

It didn’t help that Lu Bu had arms, legs and wings this time, as his right talon reached for Shanty’s throat she slashed downwards with her cane scythe and sent two blasts of water out at the same time to force him back.

Creating two tentacles of water, Shanty immediately sent them lashing out to the left and right, while forming a tentacle behind Lu Bu as she charged forward.

Lu Bu simply grunted in annoyance and spread both his crow wings wide and flapped them once.

Shanty stood there wide eyed for half a second as a powerful blast of wind that felt like a brick wall struck her and she quickly backpedaled from her forward rush and looked to the sky. There was no rain falling within forty feet of them for a few seconds, not only had Lu Bu managed to stop the water tentacles he also stopped her with the sheer pressure his wings put out.

That Lu Bu’s wings could create sharp cutting edges and raw blunt force blasts of wind made Shanty reorganize her thoughts on how to actually approach him or even begin with defeating him.

Shanty couldn’t take him when he was an Unfezant, she couldn’t beat him when he was possessing a fire demon and she was controlling a mass of water.

If she backed down to Lu Bu now while surrounded by endless rain, Shanty would never forgive herself nor would she be able to think she had what it takes to help Pom.

Shanty was quite set in not backing down to Lu Bu now, even with all his raw power and looking like a crow which was usually seen as being associated with misfortune and death. Crows were fairly intelligent birds, Shanty would like to think Lu Bu was more of the messenger of impending disaster whether he be causing it or not.

Lu Bu hadn’t exactly cleanly beaten Shanty either and was waiting for her to restarted combat. He stood there with his arms crossed, he knew Shanty wasn’t running from this fight and was being unusually patient.

“I need to be being capable of performing a flying slash…” Shanty wanted and possibly needed to do it without water. The goat quietly narrowed her eyes and readied the cane scythe once more as the rain started coming back, she would try her best to overcome this shade that threaten her life and her goals for the future until she figured out how to do it.

The longer Shanty took to take Lu Bu down, the more problems Dolly would have to deal with.

Currently the Dalmatian was barely able to deal with several Heli-troopers on her own up until she did a Counter Rave from blocking enough shots, the Heli-troopers took a moment to realize they were already defeated after several flashes of Dolly zipping about at insane speeds.

Shanty shot forward and lashed out the cane scythe in an overhead swing, Lu Bu calmly stepped back as the tip struck the ground, then Shanty used the tip of the cane scythe to kick off the ground and pivoted leftwards on her weapon into a high kick that caught Lu Bu off guard slightly and the attack of Shanty’s hind leg barely scratched his feathered chest.

Landing from her swing she shifted her scythe blade to swing it forward and Lu Bu retaliated by grabbing it by the blade with his right talon and then lashing out with his left fist to bloody Shanty’s nose and stagger her backwards and he took her weapon from her.

Following this Lu Bu went for a leg sweep and Shanty flipped backward out of range, then ducking under a swing from her own weapon and backing up on all four legs.

Shanty narrowed her eyes at Lu Bu, the weapon was hers and she would be taking it back from his talons before the end of this fight.

Raising the weapon high and sweeping his wings back Lu Bu shot forward and swung, the cutting edge of the scythe nicked her left shoulder as he brought it down.

Shanty lunge forward and struck out with the right hoof, only to find her cutting arc blocked off by the shaft of the scythe as Lu Bu kicked out for her midsection.

Lu Bu’s kick missed as Shanty dove over his leg and proceeded to buck at his left side, he simply stepped back and flipped the blade of the scythe around to swing at Shanty scoring a light bleeding wound across her chest.

Shanty got a good hit in a second later as a blast of water slammed into the right side of the crows face like a sledgehammer staggering him as she hopped back twice to put some room between them.

While Lu Bu was staggered Shanty charged forward on all four and hopped, by that point Lu Bu swung for her neck and she slid under the blade while swinging out her left hind leg to slice into Lu Bu’s left thigh and then tried to rotate her body to launch an attack with her right hind leg.

Lu Bu took to the air avoiding the right legged buck for his legs or his butt, and swung around the scythe aiming to cut Shanty in half.

Shanty planted her front legs against the road and lifted her hind legs above her head, the street beneath where her torso had been was suddenly had a large ditch slashed into it. Pushing with her front legs the goat launched herself upwards and slashed down with both her legs to get into a standing position, the attack missed as Lu Bu flapped to get flying.

Lu Bu slammed his wings forward and sent a blast of wind down at the annoying goat.

Shanty swirled the surrounding rain water into a Bounding Bubble, the water around her rippled with the sudden impact of the wind and almost got blasted off of her. While she was defending against the blast of air, Shanty got a look at Lu Bu’s left thigh which was notably enough not bleeding red.

Lu Bu wound instead looked like a slowly receding red filled crack than it did damage done to flesh, like her own slight bleeding that was being washed away with the rain in the dark neon lit streets.

She glanced around and didn’t see what Dolly was currently doing as Lu Bu ascended into the sky out of sight while readying the scythe.

The malevolent look in Lu Bu’s eyes as the faintly glowing crow swept around in the air had Shanty wary as he soon came diving for her. His speed was unreal as he passed by Shanty in a flash of lightning and swept the cane scythe through her bubble.

Much to Lu Bu’s surprise, Shanty managed to maneuver her body out of the way of the attack using the water to push herself downwards and out of the way of the slicing blade as the bubble was torn entirely in half by the crows passing. It left the goat bouncing along the street in the wake of Lu Bu.

“Oof.” Shanty picked herself after landing on her face, thankfully some water softened the blow against the street.

The goat looked up and glared up at Lu Bu as he swung around and came at her with the scythe once again.

Shanty could call out to Dolly for help, but she didn’t know what the spotted dog was currently doing.

“Gravity!” Apparently Dolly had a moment to cast a spell that was expertly placed into Lu Bu’s path before he could change direction as he closed in on Shanty. Shanty only heard Dolly barking and saw the familiar effects of one of the spells that Dolly knew how to use.

The Dalmatian then hastily dodged a Brute EP slamming its fist into the street where she had been as she took off on her skateboard and shot up a nearby light pole in a vertical grind before landing on the horizontal balancing on her board.

Dolly was far too fast for the Brute to hit without the dog being absolutely distracted, but it was also too tough for Dolly to deal with personally without some way to break its core or surpass its physical defense. The Brute’s attention was squarely on the Dalmatian at least.

Striking the gravitational orb that sparking purple electricity danced over it, Lu Bu the crow slammed harshly into the pavement at twice his current speed that created a furrow in the street that started immediately filling with rain water as he shot past Shanty eating up the tarmac with his face.

Lu Bu slamming into the street sent the cane scythe flipping into the air out of the monsters talons and Shanty’s eyes followed the spinning form as her body charged after where it was going to be. As Shanty ran for it she compressed the water around Lu Bu in an attempt to pin him down in the furrow, it wasn’t working too well as he was already standing up despite the immense amounts of pressure on his body.

Dolly’s magic attack at best dented Lu Bu’s beak a little and scraped him up somewhat, at most it caused some very minor cracks in his body to form. It was becoming somewhat apparent as to why Lu Bu wasn’t bleeding if Shanty was to believe he was literally just a wraith of wrath at this point.

As Shanty slid into grabbing her cane scythe laying on the street the roar of engines was heard coming from both ends of the street four motorcycles, two on each end of the street, roared into a hard turn to start coming at Shanty and Lu Bu.

Dolly was busy with the brute near the alleyway and wasn’t able to draw off the attention of the two wheeled troopers gunning for the two combatants.

Shanty brought up a wall of water to stopping the bullets from the machine guns the troopers were wielding as the two of them roared forward towards her, she saw what getting hit had done to Pom and she can’t move at the same insane speeds to actively dodge the projectiles.

Instead the goat slung her retrieved weapon and sent a water blade flying into taking out the troopers and then had to leap as high as she could as the two motorcycles went skidding by to explode into building on both sides of the streets.

Looking at Lu Bu, Shanty just stared as he heaved both the bikes he was stopping with his hands together, smashing both the troopers into dissolving as the bikes he was holding fused together.

The bullets they had fired into Lu Bu did little to really slow him down as he heaved the fused mass of the two motorcycles directly at Shanty. To put things into Shanty’s perspective, Shanty was still trying to suppress Lu Bu’s movement with the weight of the water hitting his body and it wasn’t slowing him or his supernatural strength down in the slightest.

As the conjoined mangled mess of metal that was the two motorcycles flew at her, Shanty raised the cane scythe high up in her hooves.

“Grand Cleave!” Shanty swung downwards, the large cutting arc hit the twisted mass of metal coming at her in time and split it into two equal chunks that flew to either side of her instead of plowing into her painfully or lethally.

It took a bit of doing for Shanty to pull this off. Shanty could already feel herself tiring from having to pull off a big move, whereas Lu Bu was already coming at her again wings spread wide as he flapped them to dash forward and his talons eager to rip the goat to shreds.

Looking at the wet streets, Shanty inhaled and exhaled sharply.

Two clones with scythes made of water popped up at either side of Shanty and following her movements they all leapt into the air while curling up and spinning rapidly.

“Bouncing Blades Barrage!” Shanty hit the street and the water on the ground launched her at Lu Bu who tried to catch her rapidly rotating form surrounding by cutting arcs, he was even about to slam her into the ground too.

The two water clones skipped forward and off to the sides, before launching into Lu Bu’s left and right side slicing up his body with rapid cutting arcs that caused more cracks to appear in his tough body as they drilled into his side.

Lu Bu slammed his wings down into Shanty’s water clones. Despite the cutting arcs coming off of the clones causing some damage to the wings, they were taken out on impact and created two splashes.

It was unknown if Lu Bu even felt pain anymore considering he didn’t flinch at the damage his wings received from the action.

“Bouncing Bounding Bubble Blades!” The two splashes of water from the destroyed clones were redirected into surrounding and encasing Shanty, creating a barrier of water that turned into thousands of sharpened needle like blades that pressed into Lu Bu’s talons as the rotational cutting force coming from Shanty and the water around her was causing quite a bit of damage to his talons.

Pulling back his right leg as he held the dangerous rotating ball of cutting force in place, Lu Bu kicked upwards and time slowed down.

In slow motion Lu Bu his foot had managed to time itself so that it slipped into Shanty’s curled up form, cutting force from her horns, legs, the cane scythe and even fur giving off cutting arcs in most directions.

The crow’s foot deftly slipped up into Shanty’s rapidly rotating form, forced her to uncurl and then continued upwards to rip into her belly and the claws dug up into her ribcage injuring her gravely as the blow sent her flying into a building with a sickening crunch as Shanty became embedded in a brick wall.

“Nghhh….” Shanty wanted to scream or let out how much pain she was currently in from having slash up belly, this was the second time Lu Bu had defeated her Bouncing Blades. Something she thought would have been really hard to do, unless her opponent was as skilled as Lu Bu was in fighting.

Shanty’s vision was blurry as she watched the figure take up her scythe again, she reached behind her and quickly pulled out a Hi-potion and downed it. It helped with the headache and devastating injury, but it wasn’t going to help her beat Lu Bu at the rate she was going.

Lu Bu just stared at Shanty menacingly and waited for her to pull herself from the wall before he started moving forward while raising the scythe.

Shanty had to think on it for a bit, Lu Bu had basically put her on the ropes again and she couldn’t rely on Dolly, Dodo or anyone else coming to save her.

She had the advantage of having a nigh infinite supply of water, she started out with her scythe in her hooves, she had used Bouncing Blades and upgraded its format twice in a matter of seconds combing clones and her bounding bubble into it to some effect… her opponent was just that much in raw power and really wanted Shanty gone.

Pom was probably not too capable at the moment or coming anytime soon, Shanty was still hurting even after imbibing the thick and somewhat tasty liquids of the Hi-potion.

“Thousand Spears.” Echoed Pom’s voice in Shanty’s head as she remembered seeing Pom do that attack multiple times, she wondered why she had so much trouble do a similar attack without water. She could launch blades of water, but launching raw cutting force beyond the initial swing was still beyond her.

Wait… initial swing? However Shanty was starting to get an idea, but she would have to survive long enough to fully flesh it out before trying it. Shanty wasn’t too distracted to defend while trying to come up with her own equivalent of a ranged attack with more raw power, since water doesn’t seem to be putting Lu Bu down anytime soon.

“Horizon!” Shanty called on her evening sun dolphin to save her as Lu Bu came in swinging the cane scythe to take her head from her body, the drain on her magic had been worth it though.

“Squeeeeee-” Horizon appeared perfectly timed from below to not only deflect the attack, but he grabbed the scythe by the scythe and flipped to spit it back into Shanty’s hooves, this was as he sent Lu Bu skidding away with a powerful tail slap to the chest while disappearing in a shower of sparkles while squealing joyfully.

Shanty silently thanked Rider May for somehow giving her the ability to summon like she could and she silently thanked Horizon for being such a strong dolphin despite the limited amount of time he could appear for.

The cost on Shanty’s magic was a bit egregious, but Lu Bu had angry looking red cracks forming along his chest and stomach proving that it was powerful ability.

That May could fully summon something like leviathan was amazing, not to mention all the other things that Rider Totsugeki could call on… Shanty only had the two and Leviathan well outside of Shanty’s capabilities and it felt like there was a limit to how many times Shanty could call Leviathan.

“I be naming him that because I’m always looking towards the horizon, evening, night or morning I will be continuing to press forward!” Shanty stated as she was back on her hooves and ready to continue the fight, she took a few shaky steps forward on her hind legs and giggled a bit as she stared down Lu Bu. “I be getting what you are about, you be trying to break my spirit… well that’s not going to ever be happening in my lifetime even if I die here today!”

Since Shanty would rather die than lose spirit in the face of insurmountable odds, that’s one of the things some of the best pirates from the stories she heard were known for! Sure a number of them were tall tales, but that didn’t mean that some of them weren’t real.

“Grand Cleave!” Shanty lunged forward with the cane scythe held high and swung it downwards, the large cutting arc was dodge by Lu Bu, but Shanty followed up her attack by swinging her hips forward. “Cleave!”

Swinging on the shaft of weapon Shanty angled her hind legs into cutting up Lu Bu’s the outer right hip, following that she planted her hind legs on the ground and took a left fist to the fast. Despite the bloodied nose Shanty continued into her next attack.

“Rising Cleave!” Swinging the cane scythe upwards leaping arc, Lu Bu dodged and slammed a left kick into Shanty’s left shoulder that dislocated her front left leg. “Spiral cleave!”

What followed was Shanty whipping the scythe around three times in a clockwise spin as she dropped back to the ground raising the back end as the cane scythe’s blade lowered and then bashed the back end into Lu Bu’s right cheek stunning him after the third slice.

The crow now had several cuts across his torso, but he still landing a glancing blow against a grinning Shanty’s temple as she threw herself onto the ground onto her left shoulder and popped her leg back into place in a painful manner as she rolled back onto her hooves.

Not a peep of agony came from Shanty’s lips as she gripped the cane scythe in both front legs and then gave it a curious look. After a moment, she planted the tip of the scythe into the ground and off to the side. Idly taking note of Dolly’s frantic attempts to keep a gunship from gunning her down, the rest of the EPs were definitely searching for Pom and they were only getting a trickle of death in their given direction as an afterthought.

Shanty wanted to show Lu Bu what she thought of his attempts on her life as they fought.

“Gahahahaha!” Shanty pulled out a bottle of Rum, chugged it down in seconds and then threw the bottle at upwards in Lu Bu’s. “Glass Cutlass!”

Springing forward with a flip Shanty brought her right leg up high and then, in a powerful snap, slashed it down into the empty bottle sending a shotgun spray of tough sharp chunks of glass into Lu Bu’s body as he tried to meet her.

Lu Bu’s wings failed him in his forward charge as the bits of glass shredded through them and the explosive force he was hit with from all that glass slamming into his torso actually knocked him down. The cracks in his body worsened from the unorthodox, yet surprisingly powerful attack.

“I’ve been quite good at using water, but I’ve been ignoring the salt recently! Trust me, I be mighty salty to be losing a bottle that can be refilled to the brink with tasty rum like that.” Shanty stated while grinning broadly as she rubber her right leg over her bloodied nose. “Salt be good at dealing with voodoo you know… it also be dealing with ghosts like you. I think it is being time that I be sending you on your way, you be teaching me a lot today Lu Bu, but I’m being quite tired of your trying to come after me when I got bigger fish to be frying!”

Shanty planted her cane scythe in the street tip first and then she left it behind as she stalked forward on four legs.

“So let’s settle this like we be true bar patrons!” Screamed a grinning Shanty with rage in her heart and a rhythmic beat blaring in her soul, she charged forward without her cane scythe promising to return to pick it up after she was done here.

Shanty’s opponent had mass, size and weight on her, plus strength, she couldn’t really forget that last part really as his blows hurt.

“Yahar!” Curling up and then belting out a roar as she leapt forward into a claw swipe, the attack deflected entirely off her spirited yell and she sent her front right hoof slicing up his torso in a swinging uppercut, actually doing as much damage as the ‘Glass Cutlass’ had. “I’d rather be smelling like a salty dog, now go back to hell where you belong!”

Slashing across his chest with her left hoof even as his claws dug into her right cheek, Shanty couldn’t get the grin off her face despite the pain she was in. She had almost done it, she had almost figured out how to beat Lu Bu and do the kind of attack she always wanted to do.

Lu Bu sent a harsh left kick into Shanty’s chest, she clung to his leg and slashed up the calf of it with her hind legs as she was launched into the air and with a flip she landed on her hind legs crouching in pain from the blow. Her teeth gritted in a wild smile as shanty stood back up and came back at Lu Bu.

Not once did she go for her cane scythe, she didn’t use the rain water to assist her attacks, she didn’t try to ask Dolly for help, nor did she summon Horizon and the reason Shanty didn’t do any of this is because she had something to prove to Lu Bu as much as herself.

Shanty was small, but she was a scrappy as they came when it came to living in harsh conditions, she was going to show him the hellion that came from the islands of Equus!

She dropped short of Lu Bu’s swinging right leg, and then leapt to bite his ankle harshly bloodying it with her teeth as she bucked him below the belt. Lu Bu might not have reacted but the massive red cracks covering his body said she dealt a pretty devastating blow and the monster crow started frowning even as he slammed Shanty’s body painfully into the street with a heel drop.

Despite being bloodied, Shanty smiled and rose up rapidly lashing at Lu Bu’s legs with several alternating one legged bucks and then she spun and charged forward on her hind legs.

“Fiery Fillet!” Where Pom would flurry, Shanty would fillet! Multiple slashing cutting arcs came from Shanty’s from hooves as she rapidly slung them both inwards at Lu Bu overwhelming any attempt at defense with a series of rapid cutting arcs, until Lu Bu took off into the air. “Get back here you filthy chicken and be facing the wrath of Shanty head on!”

“If there is one thing of which you should be wary, it’s that you’re not actually nearly that scary~!” Sang Shanty as Lu Bu flew high into the sky. “Facing someone with a dream without a grand scheme, it’ll only lead you to a short death that will be unseen~!”

Lu Bu rose high into the air and then dove at the end of the street to swoop around start flying at the singing nuisance while gliding along the street. Shanty for her part kept the beat in her heart going.

“I am Shanty, a goat of the water, breathing and using it like I’m its very daughter~!” Shanty stated proudly with her hooves on her hips as Lu Bu closed in. “Salt of the earth, sea and sky, you’ll never see someone like me who just won’t simply die~! On this tale I’m going to have to put quite the spin, because never have I ever fought someone who was so badly about to be a has-been~!”

Taking a step forward with her left hind leg, broad grin on her face as her wet and battered soggy, bleeding body moved to do what she wanted. Bringing both her front hooves to her left hip as she charged forward, Shanty roared and slung both her clamped together hooves as hard as she could at the approaching Lu Bu.

“Soul Cutting Wave!” Shanty created a large cutting arc with her upwards swing to the right, but it didn’t fly forward, no it was moving at the same speed she was as she ran forward. She then brought her hooves to her right hip and lashed them upwards and to the left… suddenly the cutting arc moving with her disappeared and Shanty stopped in place breathing roughly.

Shanty’s rectangular pupils dilated and she stared as Lu Bu came at her in the torrential rain, not once did she try to evade the incoming strike.

A second before Lu Bu would have eviscerated Shanty with his talons… he split in half, wide eyed and promptly fading away from existence. He had become nothing more than a bad dream as his soul was torn in two and then subsequently destroyed in an instant.

Lu Bu had thought the attack failed, but what happened was that it had been invisible after Shanty destroyed her own cutting arc and stopped moving because of how much oomph she put into doing it.

The vacuum wave Shanty had created had been stupidly powerful and it injured her quite badly to even pull it off.

“Heh heh… Is that… is that really being it?” I stated a little disappointed, until several buildings slid to the right and then collapsed with a perfect angular cut going through all of them. Not just one building, but three fell… one after the other the cut being higher than the last. “Oh… okay… that is being worth it then for all the effort. Now I be needing a long range attack that not be hurting nearly as much without using water.”

I be flopping onto my backside and sighing, yep… I be hurting… but I’ll live.

A loud panicked barking made me roll to the side as the fist of a Brute EP nearly be crushing me and embedded itself into the multiple times damage street where I was laying a second ago, I lashed out a cutting arc at the EP that be nearly taking my future plans from me!

The red colored cutting arc be going through the core and it be slashed entirely apart by the cutting edge of blood that be dripping off the tips of my badly injured front right hoof… my front left hoof was in a similar state of dripping painful red splotches that are being washed away by the rain.

Yep, that be definitely agonizing pain as if nails have been driven into my legs in multiple places, but nothing quite like those nights of starvation when I was younger. I think my front legs might be slightly broken… I calmly got on my hind legs and made my way for my cane scythe.

I be getting it onto my back, despite how much pulling it from the ground had hurt to do and all the while Dolly was protecting me from an ever increasing onslaught of danger. The crashing of a motorcycle into another motorcycle sold me on how bad it was kind of getting to be being around here.

“Come on Dolly, let’s be getting out of here together!” I called out. “We be needing to find a vending machine and some Hi-Potions, also some peace and quiet, we can be catching up with Pom later when my body isn’t being so sluggish and bleeding everywhere!”

It didn’t take Dolly long to arrive at my side and I planted my hind legs on the board and nodded to Dolly and she nodded back to me as she got us going with a kick of her right hind leg.

We left behind a stream of me dripping red in our wake. That attack be hurting me a lot and I can be seeing why putting your all into an attack like that would be being quite powerful.

“Never shall we die~.” I sang as Wrex was at the helm of the pirate ship and I lazed about on the deck.
