Chapters The music and laughter from outside the castle were getting louder as the moments went on. The festival was in full swing, now on its third day.
Solstice laid her head on her window seal and watched as ponies walked and laughed, enjoying the festival. She sighed as her ears laid back against her head. She could never go down there and be apart of it, everyone would expect her to be looking at the available submissives there. Their green hoof bracelets out for everyone to see.
Being a part of the festival, everyone who was taken or single had their colors, and everyone who was a dominate or submissive had their colors, so did littles and mommies and daddies. Green was a single submissive, black was a single dominant, purple was a single mommy, yellow was a single daddy, pink was a single little girl and blue was a single little boy. Most submissives who were taken had collars, so they didn't need a colored band, and they were usually attached to their partner by a leash. Single switches had a black and green colored band. Single masters and mistresses had a red band, and single slaves had a white band.
Solstice sighed. How she wished she could put on one of those pink hoof bracelets. It would never be accepted though, she was Twilight Sparkle's daughter, she couldn't be submissive. She hid that part of herself ever since she knew for sure. She couldn't let her mother down, her country down.
Her ears perked up at the sound of her door opening and her mother stepping into the room, along with her mom, Starlight Glimmer attached by a shimmering lavender leash. "Good morning, Solstice," Twilight said with a smile.
"Morning, Mother." Solstice smiled as she turned away from her window.
"Why are you not down at the festival? Today is the last day." Twilight asked as she sat down.
Solstice sighed and sat down as well. "I don't know, I don't feel like I belong there."
Twilight looked down at Starlight with a bit of sadness in her eyes. "Why?" Starlight asked.
Solstice felt that pull to tell her parents, but once again ignored it. She shook her head and smiled up at her parents. "Its nothing, Ill head down now." She said as she stood up.
"Wait for a second-" Twilight started to say she elevated a black band over, but Solstice ran past her parents and out down the hallway. "Well, maybe she doesn't need it." Starlight said as Twilight nuzzled her chin. "Maybe not."
Solstice finally stopped once she made it into the middle of the crowd. She looked around her and looked down to the ground, feeling her heart pumping faster. She closed her eyes for a second, opening them to finding a stray pink band on the ground. She smiled a bit and lifted it in her magic, just looking at it. It had glitter made into it so it shone in the sunlight, it had a picture of a teddy bear on it and it made her giggle a little bit. She found herself putting it on her hoof before she even realized it. She looked around after putting her hoof back on the ground. She found a hole in the crowd and walked away from everyone else, walking out into the castle garden where it was quiet. She sat down under a shade tree and looked out into the city of Canterlot. All she wanted was to be who she was, she wanted to tell her parents, she wanted to be happy with her life.
Solstice hid her hoof when she heard hoofsteps behind her. She turned around really quickly and saw the shadow of someone coming.
"Hey." The pony said as she came around the bushes. She was a orange pegasus with wavy maine and tail that was a beauitful, deep, blue color. Her eyes were a pale pink and they just shone in the sunlight. She walked over to the blue alicorn and sat down and smiled.
"Uh hi." Solstice whispered, bringing the tip of her wing closer to her face.
"You don't have to be shy, I'm not mean or anything." She said with a laugh, which made Solstice relax a little.
She looked down at the pony hoof and saw a green and black band. Solstice looked back up to her, still trying to hide the pink band she found. It didn't work though, the pegasus still saw it.
"So, your a little huh? I thought royals were dominates." She chuckled as she turned around to sit facing Solstice.
"Solstice giggled nervously and moved some of her red hair from her face. "Yeah, no one knows about this."
"That's okay, I wont tell anyone if youre not ready." The pony shrugged. She looked down at Solstice's flank and seeing nothing but blue fur. Solstice quickly covered it with her tail, looking down to the ground.
"You don't have to hide that either, I'm not going to judge you." She smiled.
Solstice looked up and relaxed a little. Her tail moved to rest on the ground and her wings lowered to a more relaxed position. "So, what's your name?"
"Scarlet. I already know your name Princess Solstice." Scarlet said with a small bow of her head.
Solstice shivered a little. "No, please don't do that or call me princess. Solstice is fine."
Scarlet chuckled a little as she closed her pink eyes. "Okay then, Solstice."
The two talked for a good few more hours. By the time they noticed, the sun was starting to set, the sky was the colors of orange, red, and yellow. Solstice looked up to the sky and smiled as the sun slowly set and the moon slowly rose in its place. "Mother really outdid herself with the sunset tonight." Solstice said.
"Yeah, I love her sunsets. I hear Celestia's were just as beautiful." Scarlet said.
Solstice looked over to Scarlet and blushed a little. She didn't understand why she just met this pegasus, why was she blushing, and for no reason. Solstice stood up and stretched her wings out. "I guess I better be headed to the castle, it'll be dinner soon."
Scarlet stood up and walked over to Solstice, she bent down and grabbed the pink band. Solstice jumped and lifted her hoof off the ground, "Hey!"
Scarlet pulled the band off of her hoof and winked as she put it under her wing. "Don't want your parents to see that, do we, little girl?"
Solstice's lavender eyes widened as she set her hoof back down. She felt her cheeks blush as she hid behind a wing for a minute. "No, I guess not." She giggled as she came out from behind her wing.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone." Scarlet winked as she walked out of the gardens and back into the crowd.
Solstice sighed a sigh of relief as she looked down to her now bare hoof. She smiled a little as she spread her wings and flew back into the castle.
Finally back inside, Solstice took in a deep breath and let it out slowly. She shook her head a little and got off of the door.
"how was it out there?" Starlight asked with a smile as she walked through the hallway back to the throne room.
"Oh, hi, mom. It was fine." Solstice said as she walked over to her mother.
"Did you meet anypony?" Starlight asked.
"Oh, uhh, no. Nopony really stood out, heheh." Solstice said with a nervous giggle and a small nervous smile.
Starlight raised an eyebrow but chose not to press the subject. "Well, okay then. Im just going back to the throne room with your mother. Shell be happy to know you at least enjoyed yourself."
"Yeah, sure mom." Solstice smiled as she walked past her mom and down the hallway to her bedroom. She didn't really want to be around her parents right now, she just wanted to sit and think. Wanted to explore inside her mind more. Was she really like this, or was she just being stupid?
About halfway down the hall, Solstice stopped suddenly, her horn glowing in a purple aura and slightly vibrating. She groaned as she rolled her eyes. "Why can't she just leave me alone?"
She turned and walked back down the hall, her head held low as she groaned. She finally made it back down to the throne room, before she entered.
"Hi, Solstice," Twilight said as she got up off of her throne, nuzzling Starlight as she did do, telling her she could stay on her pillow and lay down. She walked down to Solstice after and wrapped a wing around her. "How did the festival go?'
"It was okay." Solstice said as she found herself melting into the embrace.
Twilight nuzzled her daughter's head before chuckling. "So I have some news."
Solstice looked up to her mom. "What news."
Twilight smiled her classic excited smile and clapped her hooves together. "I have finally been able to put together a visit and playdate between all us princesses and our submissives! Me, Cadence, Celestia, and Luna! And you and Flurry of course."
"Um, why?" Solstice asked.
"Well, me and Cadence have been talking and we think you girls need some time with them, learn the ways of dominance in a way." Twilight smiled. "Itll give you and Flurry a chance to see all the submissives in one room to."
Solstice gave a nervous smile and giggled a little.
"Oh, don't be nervous, Solstice. It won't be for another week, you have the chance to prepare." Twilight smiled as she let her daughter go and walked back up to her throne. "Aren't you excited to see your aunt, uncle, and cousin?"
"Of course, I'm not sure about a dominance lesson." Solstice said as she sat down and rubbed her leg with her other hoof. "I'm just not sure-"
"Oh, don't be silly, Solstice. Every princess is dominant, you'll get there." Twilight said as she nuzzled Starlight a little.
"Yeah." Solstice whispered as she got up and left the throne room. She closed the door behind her and looked down to the floor, letting out a deep sigh and she started to walk back to her room. Her parents would never understand or accept her, and now a meeting with her family and the other princesses? Her life was ruined.
Solstice stopped for a minute and decided to leave for a while. She turned back the other way and walked outside, the festival still going on. The sun had been set by now or had just been set. Her mother was a little late tonight. Solstice shook her head at the ongoing noise of the festival and spread her wings. She took off into the cool night air and just flew. She didn't know where she was going exactly, she just knew she needed some air. Some breathing room for at least a little while. She closed her eyes and just took in the air as she flew. Feeling a sense of content as she let her mind go for once.
She flew until she got to the edge of Canterlot and landed by a lake right outside of the city. She Looked up to the stars and smiled. She closed her eyes until she heard wings flapping behind her. She opened her eyes and froze up for a minute before she heard laughing.
"Don't be scared, it's just me." Scarlet smiled ad she landed beside Solstice.
"What are you doing out here? I thought you left." Solstice said, looking over to her.
"I did leave the festival, but I wasn't ready to go home yet, so I've just been flying, then I saw you so I figured we could talk some more," Scarlet said as she turned to face Solstice. "Unless you don't want to."
"No, I do. I just left the castle for a while, I needed a break." Solstice smiled.
"I don't blame you. I would too." Scarlet chuckled.
Scarlet looked over at Solstice and smiled at her. "Ya know, I think we could have a good friendship, maybe even more."
Solstice looked up at her. "You hardly know me."
"Doesn't mean I don't want to know you, or have a feeling things will be good between us." Scarlet shrugged.
"Yeah, I suppose you have a point there." Solstice said.
Solstice moved a little bit closer to Scarlet and looked up at her again. She had to admit, something was clicking, even if she didn't know her very well. She had this feeling that she wanted to get to know her.
Scarlet looked up to the stars and smiled. She wasn't really sure what she was even doing, but she just had this feeling that something good could come from her and Solstice. She looked back down and stood up, stretching her wings out for a minute.
"Well, it's getting late, I suppose I better head home. You should probably do the same, wouldn't want the princess out too late." Scarlet chuckled before looking over to Solstice.
Solstice groaned and rolled her eyes. "Please, don't call me that. It's fine for formal affairs I guess, but just, don't." Solstice said as she stood up as well. "But you are right, I should be getting home."
Scarlet smirked before gently pulling Solstice closer to her. She ran a feather under Solstice's chin, causing Solstice to shiver a little. "Maybe I'll see you tomorrow?" She asked.
Solstice looked at her with wide eyes as she swallowed a little and nodded. "I-I would like that."
"Good. Go get some rest." Scarlet smiled before she lightly kissed Solstice's cheek and opened her wings to take off into the air.
Solstice watched her fly off and found herself still shivering. How? She just met this mare, how did she effect her so fast? She took a deep breath and collected herself before lifting off of thr ground. She hovered for a minute before starting to fly back to the castle.
Solstice landed in front of the door, and lit her horn amd opened it. When she walked in, she closed the door behind her, nodding to the guards standing on either side of the door. She started down the hallway and started up the first flight of staris. She sighed a little as she climbed, her mind still flowing back to Scarlet. She dint understand it, but she also wasnt fighting it either. But why? Why wasnt she fighting?
Solstice got to the top and turned down the hallway. Solstice walked on, letting her mind wonder until she ran into something. She stepped back and shuck her head a little, opening her eyes to see her mother. Twilight giggled a little. "Sleepy?'
Solstice blushed a little before chuckling. "A bit."
"Had a feeling. Get some sleep, dear. See you in the morning." Twilight smiled, walking to her bedroom for the night.
Solstice sighed before walking on to her bedroom. She closed her door behind her and smiled as she climbed into bed. She pulled her blanket over her and closed her eyes as she drifted off to sleep, hoping she would dream of a certian orange pegasus.
Solstice opened her eyes to see the sun already up in the sky, andsome clouds floating by. She lit her horn and pulled her blanket off of her and got up out of bed. She made her bed back and went to the bathroom to brush her maine, tail and coat. She walked out of the bathroom and out of her room. She walked down the hall and staris to the dining room. Her parents were already there, Twilight sitting at the table with a glass of juice and Starlight cooking breakfast since the cook was out for the morning.
"good morning, Solstice." Twilight smiled.
"Good morning, Mother, Mom." Solstice said as she walked over to the cabnit, lit her horn and opened it, grabbing a glass and closing the cabnit back. She went over to the fridge and poured herself some juice before sitting down.
"So, I got some great news this morning." Twilight smiled.
"Whats that?" Solstice asked after setting her glass down.
"Remember our visit I talked about? Well, itll be happening a bit sooner then planned!" Twilight smiled as she clapped her front hooves together. Solstice staired at her mother with wide eyes. "Cadence, Shining Armor and Flurry Heart will be here in just a few days, then Celestia, Flur, Luna and her slave will be here in the next day. I cant remember his name right now, but Im sure Luna will remind us."
Solstice shook her head a little and rubbed the side of her head. Starlight sat down next to Twilight and noticed the look on Solstice's face. "Are you okay?"
"Oh, um, yeah. Im fine, Mom. Just processing." Solstice said as she giggled a little, rufflng her wings a bit.
"Im excited. I havent seen them in forever. Flurry has grown so much since I saw her last. And Celestia and Luna have been enjoying retirement so why bother them right?" Twilight smiled as she took a bite of her breakfast. "The four of us can teach you girls so much."
"Yeah, sure." Solstice whispered as she got up from the table.
"Where are you going?" Starlight asked her.
"Just for a walk. Ill be back later." Solstice said as she exited the dining room.
Starlight looked at Twilight with a look of concern. "Im worried about her, Mamma."
"Why?" Twilight asked.
"She just seems nervous. LIke, something is on her mind." Starlight said, looking down to the table.
"There may be, but she will tell us in her own time if there is. We cant rush things, espically with her." Twilight said as she took a drink of her coffee.
"But what if its something about our way of life thats bothering her?" Starlight asked.
"Baby, listen. Its our way of life, its different for every pony, but its how we all live. Shell come into her own when shes ready, sometimes dominace comes late for princesses. It did for me. Shell be okay, alright?" Twilight asked, lifting Starlights head by her chin.
"Yes, Mamma." Starlight smiled, lowering her ears.
"Good girl." Twilight smiled as she kissed Starlight under her horn, getting a giggle out of Starlight.
It was about midday, and Solstice sat in the throne room with her parents. Her throne sat beside Twilights, it was smaller but was a beautiful silver. While Twilight's throne sported her cutie mark at the top, Solstice's throne had a sparkle similar to Twilights. Starlight laid on her lavender pillow down by Twilights throne. There was a small hook on the side of her throne that Twilight would attach Starlight's leash to when they were in here for the day. So many times Solstice wished she could be in her mom's position and not in her Mothers.
"Thank you, Princess." A male unicorn said as he bowed, floating a scroll with him as he exited the throne room. Once the doors closed, Twilight slumped back on her throne and groaned a little.
"I am so done with appointments," Twilight said as she ran her front hooves over her face.
Starlight giggled a little, covering her mouth with her front leg.
"Find my torture funny huh?" Twilight smirked as she leaned down to Starlight.
Starlight looked up to Twilight with the same smirk on her face. "Yes, yes I do."
Before Twilight could say anything, Solstice cleared her throat."Seriously? Now?"
Twilight laughed as she sat back up against her throne. "Oh, you'll be there one day soon, love."
Solstice rolled her eyes and stood up. "I don't have to be here do I?"
"No, not yet, anyway. If you wanna leave, you can. Just be back before it gets too late." Twilight smiled.
"Okay, Mother." Solstice smiled as she walked off of her throne and out of the throne room. She sighed a bit as she closed the door behind her. She was happy to finally be out of there.
Solstice walked down the hallway and out of the castle. Once she was outside she took a deep breath and let it out with a happy sigh. She was glad to be out of that throne room before her parents got a little too into each other. Solstice shivered a bit before she opened her wings and lifted into the air.
She looked down below her to the ground, seeing the other ponies go on with their daily lives. She watched as they laughed and talked, not able to hear what they were saying.
"You should pay attention when your flying, princess." Solstice heard. She looked up, seeing Scarlet sitting on a cloud.
"How do we keep running into each other?" Solstice asked, coming out of her trance and landing on the cloud next to Scarlet.
"I have no idea, but it's not like I mind." Scarlet winked.
Solstice blushed a little and giggled. "Yeah, I don't mind either."
Scarlet smiled. She lifted her left wing and reached under her right one, pulling out the pink band that Solstice had on at the festival. "I've been holding onto this, in case you wanted to explore."
Solstice looked at her with wide eyes. She didn't think Scarlet would have kept it. She had to admit, her heart skips several beats. "Um, I don't know. I mean, I want to, but-"
"But what? Your parents? This stigma that princesses can only be dominant? You can be whatever you wanna, and if you wanna be submissive and a little, then there's nothing wrong with that." Scarlet said as she placed the band on one of Solstice's wings.
Solstice looked at the band, trying to fight back tears. She wanted more than anything to just be who she was on the inside, the fear just kept her from it. She looked back at Scarlet, who was a loving smile on her face. "But, we hardly know each other. We haven't spent any real time together, other than the times we ran into each other. "
"I know that, I wasn't saying we had to enter any relationship right this second, but I am looking to explore my dominant side more, and if you would like, we can start to get to know each other more. Hang out, go on a few dates, talk about things. I'm not very good at expressing my feelings, but I'm open to trying." Scarlet smiled.
Solstice looked down to the band again. What if her parents found out? What if all of Equestria did? She felt the fear and anxiety pull at her from all directions, but she also knew that if she never tried, she would never know. "Um, okay, yeah. Let's do it."
Scarlet smiled. "Awesome! I live down in Ponyville, I teach there."
"That's where my parents used to live, and all her friends live." Solstice said.
"Really? Who are they?" Scarlet asked.
"Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie. I think Discord lives there too, and Pinkie's husband Cheese Sandwich. They have a son." Solstice said.
"I know of them" Scarlet chuckled. "I buy apples from Rainbow and Applejack all the time. I teach Pinkie's son. He's a bit of a class clown, but wouldn't expect any less from her kid."
Solstice giggled. "Yeah, he can be a hoofful."
"Well, how about you come down next week?" Scarlet asked.
Solstice lowered her ears. "I cant. My mother has put together this visit with Celestia, Luna, my Aunt Cadence, and my cousin Flurry Heart and all their submissives."
"Oh. Hey, don't look so down. You'll make it through the visit. If what I know about Cadence, she's the princess of love, I bet she can tell if you're uncomfortable with it." Scarlet said.
"That's what I'm afraid of." Solstice sighed.
"Hey, it'll be okay. If anything she would be the one to understand more than the others. Don't discredit everyone." Scarlet smiled. Already she felt this need to take care of Solstice, helo her, love her, lead her. She didn't want to push anything too soon, but she did feel it.
Solstice jumped when she felt her horn slightly vibrate. She groaned and rolled her eyes.
"Why is your horn glowing purple?" Scarlet asked.
"It's a spell my mother made. It's like a call. Whenever she needs me, shell cast it and my horn will vibrate and glow with her aura color instead of mine. It's kind of annoying." Solstice chuckled. "Guess I better go see what she wants."
Scarlet smiled. "Okay. Tell ya what, let's meet at the pond again tomorrow. Sound good?"
"Sounds good. Bye." Solstice said as she lifted off of the cloud and headed for the castle. When she landed, she opened the door and made her way to the throne room. When she walked in, she stopped and her eyes grew wide. There stood Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Flurry. Her uncle Shining Armor sat on the floor with 2 other ponies playing along with her mom Starlight.
"Solstice!" Twilight said as she surrounded her in lavender magic and floated her over in front of her. "Turns out the visit is happening earlier than expected." She said happily.
"Great." Solstice said with a nervous giggle.
What am I gonna do now? Solstice thought as she looked around at all the other ponies.

"Sollie!" Solstice heard as she was grabbed into a tight hug by a pair of pale pink legs and feathers. Curly blue and purple hair covered her eyes. Solstice pushed herself away after a few minutes and took a few deep breaths before standing back up. "Hi Flurry." She said.
"Hi, Solstice." A softer voice came with a softer hug.
"Hi, Aunt Cadence." Solstice said as she returned the hug.
"Hello, Solstice. Me and Luna have missed you." Celestia smiled, Luna standing beside her with her own smile.
"Ive missed you guys to. Hows retirement?" Solstice asked.
"Its great. It nice to just be able to relax. Took the others living there to get used to us being there, but they came around." Luna said with a small chuckle.
Solstice couldn't help but notice the light blue pegasus stallion by Luna's side. His mane and tail was black, his cutie mark was a telescope, and he wore a royal blue collar with Luna's cutie mark on the front. His wings were trapped down by his side with a small black band that went around his waist. He sat on his haunches, his head down and his eyes facing the floor.
"Thats just Colbolt. Hes my slave." Luna said as she lit her horn, all of a sudden his head jerked up and he just nearly lifted his hind end off the ground. "Yes, Mistress?" He asked in a low tone.
"Go play with the other submissives, colt. Ill call for you later." Luna said, sternly.
"Yes Mistress." He said again before he got up and made his way to the other ponies on the floor. Solstice's eyes went wide when she saw Luna's cutie mark again, but it was snuggled tightly against Colbolt's hind. "He has a plug?" Solstice asked.
"Yes, its part of his daily rules. He must wear it at all time, unless he's using the bathroom, or well, Im in there." Luna winked.
Solstice froze.
"But, Luna, doesn't that cause damage to the rectum?" Twilight asked.
"Not this one. I cast a spell on it that repairs him as well as shrinks to give him time to relax so his nerves arent damaged. When it shrinks, it stays that way for an hour or two to repair him, then grows back to size again. It also vibrates." Luna said as she sat down next to Celestia.
Twilight put her front hoof against her chin in thought. "Hmm. I might need that spell. May try that with Starlight."
Solstice shivered a little and looked down to her hooves as the others talked. Cadence watched her closely. Something didn't sit right with her about Solstice. Something was off.
As the hours went by, Cadence felt a tap at her shoulder, looking over to see Shining, along with Starlight, Flur, and Colbolt. "Yes, Shiney?" Cadence asked.
"We are all getting hungry, Mama." Shining said as he sat down.
"Okay, little one." Cadence smiled at Shinging. "Twilight, are the cooks done with dinner?"
"Should be. Come on, we can all go eat." Twilight said as she got up, leading Starlight with her. Celestia let Flur go in front of her, keeping close behind. Luna had Colbolt follow her close behind, his eyes down to the floor. Shinging had gone on ahead with his sister and daughter, with Cadence's permission, while Cadence stayed behind. She walked over to Solstice and sat down next to her. "Arent you hungry?"
"Not really." Solstice said, barely looking up at her aunt.
"Whats wrong?" Cadence asked.
"Nothing." Solstice whispered.
"Okay, one Im the princess of love, I can tell when things are off, two but more importantly, your my niece and I care about you. I wont tell your mom what you tell me, promise." Cadence smiled as she wrapped a wing around Solstice.
Solstice looked up at her aunt, her red mane falling down by her nose and neck. She closed her eyes for a second before she laid her head against Cadence's chest. "Aunt Cadence, I don't think Im a dominant. I just don't feel it. I don't want to have the control over another pony. I want to give the control up. I-- I think Im a submissive." Solstice finally said.
Cadence pulled her in closer and kissed the top of her head. "Oh, Solly, I know that. I could tell by the way you were just acting with us all. You are doing it naturally to, you didn't watch the other submissives and copy. I watched." Cadence said.
"Your not mad?" Solstice asked.
"Of course not. I know all us princesses are suppose to be dominats, but we are all our own selfs, our own ponies. I cant tell you who to be and neither can your parents. You don't have to tell them until your ready, but just know you have your aunt in your corner." Cadence said as she nuzzled Solstice soflty. Solstice giggled a little and let out a deep breath and smiled.
"Do you think they will ever understand?" Solstice asked.
"Im sure they will in time. The way they grew up, that's the norm. No pony has ever strayed from it, not even Flurry. They just need to accept that its not the normal." Cadence said. "Things change."
Solstice felt a small amount of stress fall off of her. One of her relatives accepted her, maybe her parents would to. She looked up at Cadence and smiled. "Thank you. You honestly don't know how much that means. It weighs on my mind everyday."
"Im sure it does, sweetheart, and no need to thank me. Thats what family is for." Cadence smiled and let her wing go from around Solstice.
If my aunt understands and accepts, then maybe I can tell my parents soon. I hope so.

Solstice Crescent- my character
Main character. She's a light blue/teal colored alicorn with a red main and tail that's a bit messy, long and falls over the side of her nose and neck. She still has yet to discover her cutie mark. A yearly festival put forth by Twilight for ponies to come together and find a friend or potential partner. Also celebrates the life and the love everyone has for each other. Games and contests for everyone also. Kind of like a fair but with matchmaking
